      "body": "Every salesperson aspires to build a relationship with a customer that their competition can't match. Until now, salespeople have tried a variety of tactics, but just a few have proven to be productive.\nNeuroscience research has given us a lot of insight into how our brains work. We need to understand what this means in a sales situation as salespeople. Because sales is based on biology rather than psychology, it will alter your relationship with the buyer.\n\nWhen we're on autopilot, our brains are at their most relaxed. When we're in this state, we also feel at ease. Repeated conscious thoughts and behaviors are transferred to our subconscious, where autopilot occurs. Consider the following scenario: Have you ever landed up to a location where you usually go but were supposed to be somewhere else on the day? While you were engaged with other conscious thoughts, your subconscious mind guided you there.\n\nOur brain uses shortcuts to make judgments and solve issues fast in order to conserve energy. If a buyer thinks you're the same as your competition, they'll go into autopilot mode. If a consumer can't find anything fresh, interesting, or unique about you, your product/service, or your company, their brain will default to the default mode. This means they will emotionally dissociate from you and will most likely raise a price objection to set you apart from your competition.\nWe need to be aware of three aspects of the brain as salespeople:\n\nThe Primitive Mind\nThis is the brain's most primitive portion, which controls our innate and automatic self-protective behaviors. When the primal brain is dominant, the thinking logical brain, the neocortex, shuts down. It is fueled by the fight, flight, or freeze response to a perceived or real threat. This can be disguised as an objection in sales, such as \"I'll think about it.\"\n\nThe Brain of a Mammalian\nThe Limbic system, also known as the limbic system, is the emotional and learning center, as well as the source of \"gut\" feelings, trust, and loyalty. Everything is categorized as either pleasure or pain by the system. The 'why' and 'how' of connecting to the mammalian brain should be the emphasis of sales presentations.\n\nThe Neocortex \nis a part of the brain that is responsible for\nThe neocortex is linked to higher-order cognitive activities like rational and conscious logical reasoning and language. Salespeople who offer a features and benefits presentation that is highly organized focus on the 'what.' The neocortex is triggered, leading in an emotionally detached buyer.\n\nWhat should I do?\nDo your research to unearth information that will cause your presentation to disturb the buyer's thought process. In your presentation, use the words 'why' and 'how' to emphasize what is fresh, exciting, or distinctive. You will have a totally engaged buyer who will feel closer to you and will open up about a problem they want solved if you do this.",
