To really understand the possible impact of <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/posts/\">cryptocurrency</a> and <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain</a> on governments, we need to revisit the history of our government.\n\n<strong>History of Government</strong>\n\nSince prehistoric times, mankind has always functioned in groups, it makes us stronger and more successful when we function together as units with common goals, rather than trying to accomplish tasks individually. However, during prehistoric times population was much less, and most groups were just family members and friends that stuck together to survive the harsher adversities that they had to face then. According to Encyclopedia Britannica:\n<blockquote>\"So long as humans were few, there was hardly any government. The division of function between ruler and ruled occurred only, if at all, within the <a class=\"md-crosslink\" href=\"https://www.britannica.com/topic/family-kinship\">family</a>. The largest social groups, whether <a class=\"md-crosslink\" href=\"https://www.britannica.com/topic/tribe-anthropology\">tribes</a> or villages, were little more than loose associations of families, in which every elder or family head had an equal voice.\"</blockquote>\nThe invention of Agriculture and the irrigation system, which dates back to as far as 20000 BC, is believed to be the real cause of the change from a small family or tribal communities to larger gatherings with a central leadership. A coordinated approach was necessary to ensure that fields downstream and upstream the main river were both irrigated fairly. These types of gatherings evolved into what we now know as Monarchical Government.\n\nHowever, in the monarchy system supreme authority is vested in a single person and succession usually passes from father to son or follows other arrangements within the family or monarchical dynasty. Overtime time, this government system was found to be flawed, as due to the greed and selfish part of human nature, some leaders were not for the people but only for their own gains. Many groups of people oppose this governance approach, which gave rise to a more wholesome leadership approach known as Democracy.\n\nDemocracy, which means rule by the people, allows the entire population to play a role in determining who leads and what rules are administered to the mass. This idea originated in Greece around 5th century, but really started to take flight in the 16th to 17th century when we had revolutions like the American Revolution and the English Civil War, where the people revolted against monarchical governments and begun to form parliamentary or democratic states.\n\n<strong>21st Century Government</strong>\n\nFastforwarding to today, democracy is now the most popular type of government, but we still experience: abuse of power by government authorities, unfair and misguided elections, physical abuse in some cases; and these are just a few among many other government corruptions. We still face some of the major governance problems that we have had since prehistoric times. The 21st Century has already seen several anti-government revolutions, rebellions and uprisings around the world including:\n<ol>\n\t<li><strong>The Syrian Civil War</strong> - At least 122,997 Syrian civilians died in the conflict, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SoHR).</li>\n\t<li><strong>Nepalese Civil War</strong> -  <a href=\"http://reliefweb.int/report/nepal/17800-people-died-during-conflict-period-says-ministry-peace\">17,800 people died</a> during the war, and 100,000 were displaced; as per The new Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction estimation.</li>\n\t<li><strong>The Lybian Crisis</strong> - 10,000 died, as per UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Libya, Ali Al-Za’tari spoke. Libya Humanitarian Response Plan also identified 2.44 million people in need of protection and some form of humanitarian assistance.</li>\n\t<li><strong>Kyrgyz Revolution</strong> - 400,000 Uzbek people internally displaced.</li>\n\t<li><strong>The Ukrainian Revolution</strong> - 1000s died, as per Ranker.com.</li>\n\t<li><strong>Tunisia's Jasmine Revolution</strong> - <a href=\"http://www.jurist.org/paperchase/2011/05/un-rights-expert-300-died-during-tunisia-uprising.php\">more than 300 protestors died</a> at the hands of the government, and as many as 700 more were injured; as per Ranker.com.</li>\n</ol>\n\n<br>\n\n<strong>Cryptocurrency and Blockchain will change Government</strong>\n\nThe main problem that we have with government is trust. We can never be sure that any leader will be strong enough to resist the urge to abuse the power vested in them by the people.\n<ul>\n\t<li>The blockchain is a secure trustless network that will never go against the initial consensus.</li>\n\t<li>The blockchain is nearly impossible to hack or manipulate, which makes it perfect for application of government protocols and elections.</li>\n\t<li>All government activities will be recorded on the blockchain.</li>\n\t<li>The blockchain would be 100% transparent about all government activities, as a copy of all activities will be held by every member of state, in the form of a ledger, and all ledgers would be updated simultaneously.</li>\n</ul>\nWhy would we need the government when we have cryptocurrency and blockchain?\n<blockquote>“<a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/posts/\">Cryptocurrency</a> is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. Gone are the days when it was only Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) dominating the market and it was quite obvious which cryptocurrencies were going give you a 300% Return On Invest (ROI) in the next month. Today, the cryptocurrency market has cryptocurrencies that are different in blockchain protocol, functional capabilities, <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/coins/\">price</a>, <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/coins/\">circulating supply</a>, use cases and business protocol, among a lot more factors to consider before investing your hard earned money.\n\nTo select the best cryptocurrency to invest in you will need a solid approach that eliminates coins or tokens from your list leaving the cryptocurrencies that are most likely to give you the highest gain in the time period that more suitable for your style on investment. Some people are long term investors and are looking to collect their gains in the next few years, some are trying to make a quick profit in the next month, and then there are the day traders, that are looking to enter and exit the market within a few hours. In my opinion, the great thing about the cryptocurrency market is it supports all of these investment personalities if your understand which one fits your character and goals best. So deciding how long can your wait for your gains would be the first step in deciding which cryptocurrency is better for you to invest in. However, in general, here are the cryptocurrencies that I personally feel are the best ones to invest in for 2018:\n\n<strong>EOS</strong>\n\n<a href=\"https://eos.io/\">EOS</a> is a great coin for long term investors to hold. This cryptocurrency is just 2 months old and has gained comparable popularity to Bitcoin and Ethereum that have been available to blockchain users for 9 years and 3 years, respectively. The main reasons that this coin is on my list are:\n<ul>\n\t<li>The EOS team is spearheaded by Dan Larimer, who is the mastermind behind the two successful blockchain communities Steemit (2 years old) and BitShares (5 years old).</li>\n\t<li>EOS is a <a href=\"https://crypto.bi/tape/blog/generations/\">third</a> generation cryptocurrency platform that has solve all the problems that have plagued the first and second generation cryptocurrencies, like slow transaction speed and scaling.</li>\n\t<li>EOS has a new and unique blockchain governance approach that allow better consensus on new ideas and update.s This feature has also help to enhance the speed of transactions on the blockchain. The EOS platform is also designed to increase in speed with the number of users.</li>\n\t<li>EOS has one of the fastest transaction speed of all the blockchain platform and cryptocurrencies, which makes it a more adaptable and user friendly blockchain.</li>\n\t<li>This platform has the most funding of all the blockchain cryptocurrencies. EOS raise over $9 Billion US dollars in funding from their <a href=\"https://www.investopedia.com/terms/i/initial-coin-offering-ico.asp\">ICO</a>. With proper funding, this blockchain has no limits to its promotional techniques and staff employment.</li>\n\t<li>EOS is still worth under US $6 dollars, which make it a great buy for investors.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong>Datum (DAT)</strong>\n\n<a href=\"https://datum.org/\">Datum </a>is one of my favourite coins in the cryptocurrency space. Datum is a decentralized storage network powered by the Data Access Token (DAT). The platform designed to store your data and monetize its users so that they can get the reward they deserve when their data is accessed and used. Facebook and Google are just two of the many platforms that collect and use the data of its users to enhance their marketing techniques, do their own research and feed their Artificial Intelligent networks. With the rise of <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">Artificial Intelligence (AI)</a>, as well as the rise in use of smart devices, data will be the new oil. The idea of <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_contract\">Smart Contracts</a>, the main feature that advanced all blockchain's functionally to do just about anything the mind can conceive, was also introduced and proven to be possible by the Ethereum blockchain. Here are some of the reasons that I would invest in this cryptocurrency:\n<ul>\n\t<li>Ethereum has more than 3 years of <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof_of_concept\">proof-of-concept</a> and has survived various types of digital attacks.</li>\n\t<li>Ethereum has the backing of over 400 well known companies including Microsoft, JP Morgan, Shell, Scotiabank, Toyota, Samsung, Oracles Network, Intel, Deloitte, Cisco, CME Group and New Alchemy.</li>\n\t<li>This blockchain is currently valued at under US $350 and has the potential to surpass bitcoins all-time high of <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/\">$19,783.06 US</a>. One could consider the current Eth price to be a sale for investors.</li>\n\t<li>Eth is listed on all the major trading platform including Coinbase, Poloniex, Bitfinex, Bittrex and Binance. This increases the buying potential and liquidity of the cryptocurrency making price increase more responsive and sustainable.</li>\n\t<li>Ethereum and Eth as a brand is more popular worldwide in comparison to almost all other cryptocurrency, which helps the stabilize the cryptocurrency price and attract investors.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong> Bitcoin (BTC)</strong>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.ethereum.org/\">Bitcoin</a> is the first and still the undisputed cryptocurrency of all-times. With the highest cap (over <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/\">$100 Billion US</a>) and currently over <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/\">50% dominance</a> of the cryptocurrency market, bitcoin is undoubtedly the leader in the crypto space. The numbers can attest to how much more popular this cryptocurrency is in comparison to all other cryptos or blockchain projects. While bitcoin does not have the most use cases, it is by far the most widely used and adapted cryptocurrency. But with bitcoin being the most expensive cryptocurrency in the space, why would I see bitcoin as a good investment vehicle? Here is why:\n<ul>\n\t<li>There are only 16 million Bitcoin in existence and its not possible to create anymore. Much like gold, silver and other rare commodities, bitcoin is designed to become more rare overtime, hence it has a limited supply. The number of bitcoins generated per block is set to decrease by 50% approximately every four years. It also help to stabilize the price of bitcoin.</li>\n\t<li>Bitcoin's average trading volume per day is more than twice that of all other cryptocurrency investment options. High volumes makes the cryptocurrency price more responsive and stable.</li>\n\t<li>Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency with its own trading futures. Bitcoin Futures makes bitcoin more accessible to mainstream multimillionaire investors.</li>\n\t<li>This cryptocurrency has the highest all-time high of all the cryptocurrencies. All-time highs gives investors a more convincing view of the potential value of the cryptocurrency.</li>\n\t<li>Bitcoin is already 9 years old and has never been hacked or fallen victim to any malicious digital attack.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong>Metaverse (ETP)</strong>\n\nEverything is going digital and the blockchain is here to accelerate that process by providing a secure and trustless way of storing your valuables. While we are securing our valuables, why don't we just store our personal identity also? <a href=\"https://mvs.org/\">Metaverse </a>is an open-source public blockchain that aims to provide digital assets and digital identities. This project will aim to digitize assets like gold, silver and other valuables. Here are some other reasons why I think Metavere is worth investing in:\n<ul>\n\t<li>This project is the first to attempt to digitized assets like gold and silver on the blockchain. Gold and silver are rare commodities that are traded globally today, if these assets can be stored on the blockchain, investor will definitely be interested in get a cut of the platform behind it.</li>\n\t<li>With digital fingerprints, iris, face and full body scans being used today, It's not a secret anymore that our personal identities are becoming digital. The blockchain, however, would be a more secure way of storing and accessing these type of personal information. Personal identities on the blockchain can be easily seen as a near future happening, so any smart investor would see this as a steal.</li>\n\t<li>Sitting currently at a price less that <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/metaverse/\">$3 US</a>, and considering its use cases, Metaverse can be considered to be an undervalued cryptocurrency.</li>\n\t<li>Metaverse is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies among the Chinese community. If the Metaverse team can garner the support of china's huge population, we could definitely see a rapid increase in the price of the token.</li>\n\t<li>Founded by one of the Ethereum platform pioneers, Eric Gu, the team definitely has excellent and experienced leadership.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong>Cardano (ADA)</strong>\n\nThis blockchain is unique in the sense that it is the first blockchain platform to evolve out of a scientific philosophy and a research-first driven approach. This project promises to be more advanced than any other blockchain protocol. A lot of blockchain platforms are hoping to be the one to replace the internet as the new global network platform; however, only a few like Cardano, EOS and Ethereum are actually poised to do just that. Some more reasons to invest in Cardano project include:\n<ul>\n\t<li><a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/cardano/\">Cardano</a> could be the next internet network.</li>\n\t<li>This project is one of a few blockchain that has a very unique and limitless design that's properly suited for mass scaling and processing huge amount of simultaneous transactions much similar to Visa. This feature could secure global adaptation.</li>\n\t<li>Cardano is spearheaded by Charles Hoskinson, who is one of the most intelligent and brightest minds in the blockchain community. Hoskinson is one of the Ethereum platform pioneers and also one of the founders of the Ethereum Classic (ETC) platform.</li>\n\t<li>All of Cardano's codes and theoretical functions undergo peer review and meticulous verification from some of the best programmers and professors in the cryptocurrency space. No other blockchain undergoes such rigorous testing before being diploid publicly, which gives the Cardano platform a bit more credibility, and also give investors a bit more peace-of-mind.</li>\n\t<li>Cardano has a uniquely designed wallet that will be able to run decentralized applications on the blockchain. This added feature and functions will definitely catch the eyes of many cryptocurrency investors.</li>\n\t<li>At the current price of <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/cardano/\">$0.11</a>, this platform is highly undervalued.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong>Neo</strong>\n\n<a href=\"https://neo.org/\">Neo</a> is a non-profit community-driven blockchain project with a primary goal of creating a smart economy using blockchain technology. The platform:\n<blockquote>\"utilizes blockchain technology and digital identity to digitize assets and automate the management of digital assets using smart contracts.\"</blockquote>\nThe Neo community's formula for achieving their goal is: Digital Assets + Digital Identity = Smart Contract. Neo has the support of developers around the globe through developer communities like CoZ, NEL and NeoResearch.\n\nI believe Neo is a good buy and here are some of my reasons:\n<ul>\n\t<li>Apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, Neo is the most popular cryptocurrency coin in China. The blockchain protocol also has a built-in incentive token called Steem which is the cryptocurrency associated with the platform. It's important to note that there are two other cryptocurrencies associated with the platform - <a href=\"https://99bitcoins.com/making-money-with-steemit-steem-dollars-and-steem-power-explained/\">Steem Dollar </a>and <a href=\"https://99bitcoins.com/making-money-with-steemit-steem-dollars-and-steem-power-explained/\">Steem Power</a>. Though the future the cryptocurrency space is so unpredicatable, I wouldn't invest in any of these two cryptocurrencies as Steem Dollar was just created to peg its value to the US dollar as a reference point and Steem Power was originated to add a numeric value to a user's influence when upvoting other users content. In this case, the cryptocurrency that I would invest in is definitely steemit.\n\nThis platform is very similar to other social media platforms like Facebook and Youtube, in that it allow users to upload their content while other users can share their opinion on the content by upvoting or commenting on the content. However, one major difference between steemit and other traditional social platforms is the fact that you can get paid for just uploading your content. The platform is also much more secure, as it is build on a blockchain. Here are some other points that has made the steemit platform an investment choice for me:\n<ul>\n\t<li>Steemit is the very first social media platform on a blockchain. In today's society, people are so used to social media that these platforms have become an integral part of our lives, and steemit has just made it even more incentivize by paying its users. Also, comparing Steem's price to the price of blockchain protocols like bitcoin (<a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/\">$6,261 US</a>) makes it an even a bigger steal for an investor.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong>Binance Coin (BNB)</strong>\n\nThis platform is a cryptocurrency exchange that allows its user to store and trade their cryptocurrency against the US dollar as well as other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Eth. The trading platform was based in China initially but moved its servers and headquaters out of China to Japan just ahead of the ban on cryptocurrency trading in China, September 2017. <a href=\"https://www.binance.com/\">Binance </a>has now extended offices to Taiwan also. I would invest in this platform for the following reasons:\n<ul>\n\t<li>Binance is the largest crypto-exchange by trading volume, with a BNB market capitalization of $1.1 billion US. The popularity and high trading volume will only make the price of the coin more responsive and stable.</li>\n\t<li>There are only a few cryptocurrency exchanges available, which makes Binance a leader in its use case area, with little competition. This will only help the price of the cryptocurrency to rise.</li>\n\t<li>The value of cryptocurrency exchanges, in most cases, will not react to the high volatility of the market, as they will only make more profit when the users are emotionally hyped. Achieving their goal of interconnecting all blockchains would produce a network very similar to the internet or www. That's not an investment opportunity that I would want to miss out on, especially at its early stage.</li>\n\t<li>Ark is currently valued under <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ark/\">$1 US</a>, which makes it a huge steal for investors.</li>\n\t<li>Ark has a unique technology - SmartBridge. In the blockchain community and other business investment market, having a unique feature or use case is always a plus for investors.</li>\n\t<li>Interconnectivity may be the next step in growth of blockchains in general. This might be exactly what the space needs to take it to that fourth generation level and allow it the fully break mainstream. Its important to note that the first use case of the blockchain was the exchange of value over the internet through the use of Bitcoin. Typically, we use companies like PayPal and Western Union to carry out these type of transactions, which usually involves  paying high fees and abiding by their centralized rules and regulations.  Wether we agreed to them or not, there was no better way of do these transactions, so we complied. But now, Bitcoin has proven that it is possible to securely transfer value, nationally or internationally, over the internet at extremely low fees without a middle man - just person to person.\n\nToday, thanks to the exponential growth of the cryptocurrency space, Bitcoin is no longer the only use case of blockchain technology; as there is now over 1700 cryptocurrencies and hundreds of new use cases. Cryptocurrencies themselves are evolving and they are able to do so much more than what bitcoin can do. The main problems that bitcoin has, such as scaling and slow transaction speed relative to more establish means of money transfer like Visa, are all being solved with the latest cryptocurrencies. Third generation cryptocurrencies such as EOS and Cardano (ADA) can do much more than money transfer primarily through a new transaction method called <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_contract\">Smart Contract</a>.  These are just examples of how cryptocurrency and the blockchain is evolving and because of how intertwined they are with the economy, the economy will be evolving also. Lets take a look at how various areas of the world economy, such as Government, Employment, Energy, Cross-border Transactions, Business and Transportation,  will evolve with cryptocurrency and blockchain.\n\n<strong>Government</strong>\n\nWhy would we need the government when we have cryptocurrency and blockchain?\n<blockquote>\"Cryptocurrency is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. That lack of central authority is the primary reason governments are afraid of the cryptocurrency.\" source: <a href=\"https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/042015/why-governments-are-afraid-bitcoin.asp\">investopedia</a>.</blockquote>\nWe have heard countless causes of government corruption and misuse or abuse of power; what if we could design a digital form of government that follows all the rules on a trustless network, where everyones vote count and cannot me manipulated? This is possible on the blockchain, and examples of these are already out there with blockchains such as EOS and Cardano (ADA). These networks have fully decentralized governance and cannot be manipulated by its creator or users.\n\n<strong>Employment</strong>\n\nWith nearly everything going digital, a lot of work is being done in the digital space by workers that are not getting paid. In some cases, they are not getting paid simply because its difficult to track, record and allocate pay accurately. The <a href=\"https://www.bcg.com/publications/2018/new-globalization-why-countries-need-new-job-creation-strategies.aspx\">BCG Henderson Institute</a>, a forward thinking multinational consultation firm since 1963, has recently reported that\n<blockquote> \"the strategies for generating jobs and prosperity in the past are no longer sufficient to deliver inclusive prosperity to economies around the world. The already significant impact of digital technologies and rising economic nationalism is further magnified by profound societal changes as the world’s population becomes even more connected, more mobile, and more aware of global trends.\"</blockquote>\nCryptocurrency and blockchain technology will help to securely track, record and allocate pay accurately for the digital work.\n\nCryptocurrency has also made it easier to transfer money internationally and at a cheaper rate in comparison to the more popular platforms like Western Union. This has further opened the doors for international work, where the employer and employee does not have to live in the same country to interact professionally. Blockchain technology is also providing millions new jobs that didn't exist prior to the 2009 when bitcoin was introduced to the world. Various blockchain programming jobs, cryptocurrency mining jobs, jobs created from the involvement of organisations in the blockchain revolution and jobs associated with <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_DAO_(organization)\">Decentralized Automated Organizations (DAO)</a>, are a few examples such professional vacancies.\n\n<strong>Energy</strong>\n\nThe consumption of energy continues to rise on year to year basis. According to the an article published on the U.S. Energy Information Administration website in September 2017, world energy use is projected to increase by 28% in just over 20 years.\n\n<img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1031\" src=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Screenshot-2018-08-09-21.05.43.png\" alt=\"Screenshot 2018-08-09 21.05.43.png\" width=\"626\" height=\"334\" />\n\n \n<h6><em>Source:U.S. Energy Information Administration </em></h6>\nCryptocurrencies, like bitcoin, that use mining to validate transactions will also be adding to that energy consumption increase; however, there is now a new trend in cryptocurrencies, where the latest group of cryptocurrencies are using a new validation method called <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof-of-stake\">Proof-Of-Stake</a>, which required zero energy consumption. We also see the emergence of cryptocurrencies like <a href=\"https://cleantechnica.com/2017/06/29/solarcoin-cryptocurrency-earned-generating-solar-electricity/\">SolarCoin</a> which is a cryptocurrency that supports renewable energy by issuance of SolarCoin to solar energy users. Another cryptocurrency promoting a more sustainable model of energy is <a href=\"http://www.genercoin.org/\">GENERcoin</a>. The GENERcoin team believes that:\n<blockquote>\"The world is shifting to a sustainable model of energy both for it's viability and out of necessity and GENERcoin will serve  to promote and assist this vital inititive. The value of GENERcoin is represented by the deliverable energy it is backed by, which can be more stable than debt assets which may be devalued due to inflation.\"</blockquote>\n<strong>Cross-Border Transactions</strong>\n\nIt has always been cheaper and more affordable to transfer value within a country than to transfer that value across international borders. This is because there is usually an increase in taxes and also the middle man, such as Western Union, will require a payment fee for the use of their service. The cost of this will be reduced drastically through the use of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, as the first use case of cryptocurrency is the secure transfer of value locally and internationally at a much cheaper rate and without the need for a middle man. Value transfer is done from one private-owned wallet to the next, and it only takes a fraction of a second.\n\n<strong>Business </strong>\n\nCryptocurrency and blockchain will change the banking system in a big way. With cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin, you can store your money in your own personal wallet. There will be:\n<ul>\n\t<li>no need to inform your bank every time your want to make a withdrawal or deposit;</li>\n\t<li>no limit to the amount of money you wish to transact or the quantity of transactions per day;</li>\n\t<li>no need to excessively provide identification to use your own money;</li>\n\t<li>and no need to pay extremely high fees for each transaction made.</li>\n</ul>\nWith all the above examples, you can see how cryptocurrency is a direct treat to the entire banking system. The way we store and use money will definitely change as cryptocurrency and blockchain become more popular and adapted.\n\nWithout the need for a middleman, the price of goods and services will fall rapidly. Goods will become more abundant and that will also decrease their value. Peer-to-peer and country-to-country business interaction will increase, as interaction on the blockchain is trustless and secure; this will boost the economy of many country and give enemy states a chance to mutually coexist without lingering distrustful politics. The blockchain has also provided the platform for small businesses and start ups to raise funding through <a href=\"https://www.investopedia.com/terms/i/initial-coin-offering-ico.asp\">Intitial Coin Offering (ICO)</a>. It has also given low income people a change to invest and trade through cryptocurrency exchanges like Coinbase, Bitfinex, Bittrex, Poloniex and Binance.\n\n<strong>Transportation</strong>\n\nAs the complexity of transportation increases with self-driving cars and peer-to-peer ridesharing companies, the typical methods of transportation payment become inadequate. Not very long from now, commuting will involve many different service providers and payment platforms. According to a recent <a href=\"https://www.businessinsider.com/decentralizing-urban-mobility-blockchain-cryptocurrency-2018-1\">Business Insider</a> article:\n<blockquote>\"Consumers could use the cryptocurrency value on their card to pay for multi-modal transportation, enabling them, for instance, to take a trip part way on mass transit and part way on a bike-sharing or ride-hailing platform, and pay for the whole trip with one transaction on one card.\"</blockquote>\nUber, the currency leader in peer-to-peer ridesharing, has taken the initiative to launch there own <a href=\"https://www.deccanchronicle.com/business/companies/030318/uber-co-founder-to-launch-new-cryptocurrency.html\">cryptocurrency</a> known as Eco. Eco is an attempt to ensure that Uber is ahead in the use of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.\n\nThe transportation industry will also be affected by the rise of<a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\"> Artificial Intelligence (AI)</a> use cases in self-driving cars; however, if the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">AI</a> is centralized, this presents the opportunity for hackers to hack in the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">AI</a> and potentially wreak havoc on the transportation system. There is a solution to this: if the AI is designed on the blockchian, it will be decentralized, and as such, be almost impossible to hack. As a side note, lets not forget that transportation also refers to the transportation of goods, both locally and internationally. Electric car maker, Tesla, already has its Semi Electric Self-Driving Trucks. These trucks will be transporting goods all over the globe.\n\nCryptocurrency and blockchain will be strongly involved in the evolution of the world economy, and the changes are closer than you think. <a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/video/2017/11/06/japan-made-bitcoin-a-legal-currency-and-now-its-more-popular-than-ever.html\">Japan</a> has already fully adapted cryptocurrency and many other nations are following very close behind. This means that when you buy bitcoin today, you are actually buying it from someone that is holding a percentage of the existing 16 million, and during this transaction, that person will lose a quantity of bitcoin that is equivalent to the amount of bitcoin that you would will receive.\n\nWhile you do have the option of storing your bitcoin in a personal bitcoin wallet where you have total control over your bitcoin and the password to your bitcoin, there is also the option of storing your bitcoin on an exchange such as Coinbase, Binance, Bitfinex and Bittrex. Storing your bitcoin on an exchange means that the exchange will be providing you an account and a password to your account, much like a bank; however, in this case, your bitcoin will be controlled at a central point and will be affected by the rules and regulation of the exchange.\n\nAn exchange, as the name suggest, also allows the bitcoin holder to exchange bitcoin for fiat currencies, like USD, EURO or YEN; as well as for fiat to be exchange for bitcoin. Exchanges work by providing a platform where a seller and a buyer can exchange value, so when you the buyer makes an offer and the seller accepts that offer, the exchange of value is securely and mutually done via the exchange platform. In these type of transactions, it wouldn't be fair to say that someone lost their money because a mutual and clear agreement was made before the transaction was done.\n\nBut on the other hand, when bitcoin is trade on an exchange as where bets are placed on the price or value of bitcoin, someones gain will definitely be the other persons lost. An example of this would be Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) where participants are able to place their bets on the future price of an asset.\n<blockquote>\"An ETF, or exchange-traded fund, is a <a href=\"https://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/marketablesecurities.asp\">marketable security</a> that tracks an index, a commodity, bonds, or a basket of assets like an index fund. I know a lot of people are unsure if they should take the plunge, and this is primarily because the technology is new and most people do not have deep computer knowledge to understand exactly how they work; but for a lot of those who were fortunate to understand the technology at a early stage, they are already millionaires, and a few billionaires also.\n\n<strong>Is it too late to invest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies?</strong>\n\nNo, we are still at the beginning of this revolutionary change in the way that we use and store money, as well as all the changes in various sectors of society such as governance, business and person to person interaction. The main reason why people don't understand the magnitude of changes that cryptocurrencies will bring to our day to day activities is because they are thinking to invest in the cryptocurrencies rather than the underlining technology, which it the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain</a>.\n\n<strong>What is the Blockchain?</strong>\n\nThe <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\"> blockchain</a> is a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptography\">cryptography</a>. Each block typically contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp and transaction data. To explain this in regular terms, the blockchain is a record of all the transactions, and that record is then issued out to everyone that owns a computer device and choose to be apart of the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain</a>. With everyone getting a copy of the record at the same time it is almost impossible for anyone to hack and change the record on everyones computer at the simultaneously. That is what makes the technology so groundbreaking.\n\nIf you understand the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain</a> fully, and start your thinking and research from the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain</a> level of the technology, then you will begin to see the magnitude of change that's coming. These changes have only barely begun, the ability to exchange value over the internet and across international borders at almost $0 cost is not a small thing.\n\nKnow with all that I have said here, I hope this was of some help for anyone out there trying to decide if they should invest in cryptocurrencies or not. The main feature of the <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain</a> is verification through decentralization of the <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ledger\">ledger</a>. This means that if the platform for the content is built on the<a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\"> blockchain</a> and allows its viewers to vote on the content, then it will force the content producers to stop making fake news.\n\nThere should be incentives, like cryptocurrency coin or token rewards, for produce true content and penalties for violating the rules. All of this will be done using smart contracts on the blockchain.\n\nThis is definitely something that will happen in the near future. <a href=\"https://steemit.com/@marcjohnson2000\">Steemit</a> and <a href=\"https://d.tube/\">Dtube</a> are both examples of content producing platforms already built and running on <a href=\"https://cryptoporridge.com/2018/07/29/what-could-an-artificially-intelligent-blockchain-do/\">blockchain technology</a>; however, a more fitting example to this endeavour to fight fake news using the blockchain is <a href=\"https://publiq.network/\">Publiq</a>.\n<blockquote>\"PUBLIQ is reshaping the Media industry by enabling censorship free generation, selection and assessment of content. It offers a unique experience where the wealth generated is fairly and exclusively distributed to the network participants.
