| title | How to Be a Great Team Player |
| body | You are a very confident and independent solo player, when it comes to work? No? Many persons - myself inclusive - are very confident, solutions-oriented, and independent solo performers. This means to a large extent you can get shit done all by yourself. Bravo! I admire that a lot! But the big question now is _How Well Do You Play In A Team?_ Playing in a team is almost somewhat inevitable in a work space. You can't imagine how lofty solo-accomplishments could be cheapened by poor team playing. You don’t want that! >Team work is so important that it is virtually impossible for you to reach the heights of your capabilities or make the money that you want without becoming very good at it –Brian Tracy.
Be Honest and Straight Forward
Honesty is relevant for building trust. Only family members perhaps might trust you, even if you are not honest. Asking for same from team mates, would be asking a whole lot. Be forthcoming and Straight forward with your team mates. Don’t get shady when picking or assigning tasks.
Be Flexible
It is easier and safer to stick to one’s comfort zone. But comfort zones are not healthy for the team. Be willing to make changes and adjust when necessary and at the pace of the team! That is the team spirit!
Be Reliable
Can your team mates rely on you, when it counts? Yes, you need to answer that. Every team player needs to know with a high degree of assurance, that they can count on their team mate. Be the team mate they can rely on! Develop and show a good sense of deadlines.
Be Fair
Yes, you are giving your best, take credit for that. But let other team mates take credit for their tasks well done. It’s good for the team ego and of course its success.
Cultivate Good Communication
In a team made of different personalities, communication gaps can exist. To have a functional team heading for success, as a great team player, find and understand ways to communicate with other members of your team. Be sure to communicate ideas and information in the clearest ways possible. It also saves productive time!
Show Positive Attitude
Sheer positivity is a relevant recipe for being an excellent team player. Show support and be positive about team activities and projects. The Optimist is a leader >Great things in business are never done by one person; they are done by a team of people –Steve Jobs
Understand Team Objectives
What are your team’s objectives? How well are you contributing to its success? How much do you complement other skills in your team, toward achieving its objectives? Having a clear understanding of your team’s objective, is pertinent to team success. If you don’t understand the team objective, it’s not too late to reevaluate.
A Word from Me
Working in a team does not have to be so much hassle. Doing the right practices and having the right attitudes gets you going. You only get better with time. Give your best in your team, and you could be surprised at how much can be achieved by a group of people. **Here is a summary of the tips on being a great team player:** - Be upfront in your deeds. Be sure to present yourself as an honest and trustworthy member of the team. - Always be ready to accept whatever is thrown towards you. Bottom line, accept challenges! - Be reliable. Always meet your deadlines. - Take credit for your work and give credit to other team mates who deserve it. - Always communicate your ideas in the best and clearest way. - Be optimistic! _Optimism is King!_ - Understand your team objective. If not, what exactly are you doing? _**Thanks a lot for doing this with me!**_ _**If you’ve found this helpful, up vote and share with your friends!**_ _**I would love to know your thoughts about team playing in the comment section!**_ **Image sources** _Image by WikiImages from Pixabay, licensed under creative commons and eligible for commercial use_. |

| title | 5 Fascinating Ways to Get Traffic to Your Blog and Save Some Bucks |
| body | After you have spent some bucks getting your own domain name and of course a good hosting deal, what could possibly go wrong? A long time after several posts, you barely have an audience, and hardly any visitors. Totally not what you imagined it would be, right? You probably write the best contents in your niche, yet no audience; well aside family and friends. It’s really hard to keep writing and hitting the publish button, when it feels like no one is listening! _I understand how that feels, totally._ You are probably wondering to yourself _“what am I doing wrong?”_. Well, here are 5 effective ways to drive traffic to your blog and save up some bucks!
Write Engaging Headlines
_You don’t build a house, and then break through walls to make doors!_ What does building have to do with writing headlines? You may ask. Well, some persons have a practice of developing a headline after writing the main content. I’d be very direct about this; it is a WRONG practice. Your headline is like the door into your content. Take your time to research your headlines. Develop as many headlines as possible for the content you want to write. Check out other headlines that are successful, online or in magazines. It’s okay to lift headlines from other persons’ work. It takes a while to perfect the headline game. A headline should be attention grabbing. It should contain the content’s promise; That is the problem the content should solve, or the desire it should satisfy. _**The promise in the headline must be fulfilled by the content, if not, the content has no actual value!**_ **Here are a few tips on how you might develop that successful headline:** - As much as you want your headline optimized for search engines, you must first consider writing for human readability. _You definitely should write for humans before machines!_ - Including numbers to your headlines does some magic too. Like the headline of this post! - Do not let your headlines get too long, so they don’t get shortened in search results. A character count less than 70 should do it. A good content with a bad headline would never work! Practice and find what works.
Get On Social media
Socialize on social media, develop a professional personal brand. _And be human about it!_ This is where your audience is hanging out and asking questions. Be authentic and show authority in your niche; people respond to that. You don’t have to keep up with posts about where you were last night or what you had for breakfast. But show who you are and what you stand for, in the best way you can, and you’d cultivate your audience organically. Share posts from your blog frequently and observe how people respond to them. Use emoji, they send a good vibe! As much as it is a good tool for leading people to your blog and sharing your content, the social media is a good feedback tool. Find out what people are saying in your niche, what their problems are and how they are currently solving them.
Build an Emailing List
This is a very important practice in building your own audience and developing good communication with them. The email has been proven to be a very personal and direct way of reaching clients. Add a subscription pop up box to your blog, to allow your audience subscribe to your emailing list. Send regular newsletters on post updates to keep your audience engaged. Utilize good auto-responders for your blog. Customize a good welcome mail for new subscribers. Like the good old saying _**“you never get a second chance at a first impression.”**_ You could try the free emailing feature on [Mailchimp](mailchimp.com).
Guest Write
A good way of getting new audience is guest writing. Talk to another writer, who has good audience already, about collaborating. They need not necessarily be in your niche! But if you share the same audience (like sports and nutrition, could share an audience) ask to make a guest post. Make sure to make your post useful and worth the time your readers would be giving you for it. And don’t forget to add to your guest post, one or two links to your work from your own blog.
Follow Trending Topics in Your Niche
This would be one of the importance of getting active on social media. Good research is a prerequisite for a good content. Find out where your audience hang out online, what they do, the questions they ask, and the problems the talk about, when they’re hanging out. This helps you know what is trending in your niche and you’re able to respond to your audience’s deep yearnings. Write and be passionate about it, because you understand them. Because you are one of them!
A Word from Me
While it’s probably easy to buy traffic to your blog, it is cost effective and most rewarding to grow them organically. The audience you grow organically is your REAL audience; the audience you can convert to sales. Although paying for promoted posts on social media and running ad campaigns have their advantages, you can help your blog grow at a steady pace and keep your money, with the 5 tips I have mentioned in this post. A quick summary of the 5 fascinating ways to get traffic to your blog and save some bucks: - write attention grabbing and useful headlines. - Get on social media and engage your audience in a professional way. Don’t be robotic about it! - Build a smart emailing list. Use a good auto-responder with a great welcome mail. - Contact other writers you admire, and ask to guest write. Could make the difference! - Get in the trend. Write contents that are useful to your audience, and be passionate about it. _**Thanks a lot for doing this with me!**_ _**If you’ve found this helpful, up vote and share with your friends!**_ _**You are welcome to share other tips that worked for you in the comment section below.**_ **Image source** Image by Ralf Vetterle from Pixabay, licensed under creative commons and eligible for commercial use_. |

| title | 12 Easy Ways to Reduce Work Stress and Keep Your Sanity |
| body | When you are neck deep in very demanding work tasks and _attention-begging_ personal plans daily, it is always almost very difficult to go without stress! In fact, it is really easy for one to topple over the thin line of sanity (I hope not). The big question here is “can work tasks and personal life be handled with seeming gracefulness, and without stress?” Like the good old cliché; _All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy_. On the flip side; _All work and no planning makes Jane a stressed girl_. Last week was a very busy one for me. One of the busiest I’ve had since my new job – I was almost burned out. I had work deadlines to beat, online course modules to study, assignments and tests to write. And outside my job, I was part of the planning committee for a huge event that was held last Saturday. I work a 9 to 5. But last week, I got home between 9 and 10 pm every day, deadbeat. The week before, I hadn’t had good rest and a nice _“me time”_ neither. So, the stress was rolled over - as expected. The ugly truth; Stress don’t just go away! I was mostly stressed, because I didn’t do the little things I’d do regularly to reduce my stress level daily. >The average business professional has 30 to 100 projects on their plate. Modern workers are interrupted seven times an hour and distracted up to 2.1 hours a day. And four out of 10 people working at large companies are experiencing a major corporate restructuring, and therefore facing uncertainty about their futures. This may be why more than 40% of adults say they lie awake at night plagued by the stressful events of the day. – [Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jennagoudreau/2013/03/20/12-ways-to-eliminate-stress-at-work/#6e94d3b7f290) Now you really must be eager to know the 12 easy ways to reduce work stress and keep your sanity. Here are a few things I do daily, and some I just learnt recently. Let’s dive right in!
1. Eat healthy and timely
The importance of good and healthy diet cannot be over emphasized. Eating lots of vegetables, whole grains and fruits is a good practice. It keeps up your body nutrient supplies. Reduce or better still avoid consumption of caffeinated beverages; they increase your anxiety and stress levels. Timing for meals is also considered important. Some experts have said that breakfast is an important meal of the day. I always have my breakfast, sometimes I do brunch if I can’t have my breakfast. But the _timing_ idea is that; I don’t starve myself out, before I have that healthy diet.
2. Share more Laughter
Laughter is a good stress alleviator! Having a good sense of humor can help you see the fun and humor in events around you. You’d never know how much sharing a good laughter could do, until it’s not there to share.
3. Get enough sleep
Truly, sleep requirements vary among individuals. To stay healthy, productive and stress-free, you would need between 7-9 hours of restful sleep. It doesn’t help anyone to stay up all night working on one task, and risk unproductivity and clumsiness in several other tasks during day. After a long day’s strenuous activities, your body requires sound restful sleep, indulge it (in the right way).
4. Listen to relaxing music
This tip almost always works for me. I enjoy good music (ranging from RnB to alternative rock). Music helps your muscles relax. It takes away anxiety, and protects you from the harmful effects of stress. _I have nice artistes I listen too, but I could recommend songs by **Ed Sheeran, James Arthur, and Sam Smith**._ You could check them out. Sure you won’t be disappointed.
5. Be a cause not an effect
I understand how this caption could make you feel. Try reading it to yourself again. Most times when we get stressed, it’s because things do not go our way – the way we’ve planned. It’s only human to always want to be in charge, but it’s also smart to know when to stop pushing. Walk around, talk to someone, stretch on your desk, and possibly try tip #4!
6. Exercise
I’ve found that I get easily worn out during the day, when I don’t exercise. Exercising or just engaging yourself in some positive physical activities could help relieve stress. It restores the body rhythm, and the harmony between mind and body.
7. Keep a journal
This is not a very easy practice, but it is one that can be cultivated. No matter how retentive you are and how much attention you pay to details, it is very easy to forget when you are very busy. You are struggling with deadlines and distractions (social media, emails etc.), give yourself a boost with a journal. Write when you have conversations with people.
8. Plan and focus your energy
Certain persons are very spontaneous and have all the energy they need to match up their spontaneity, and that’s okay. But it takes a toll after a long time. _A friend would say “you can’t cheat nature. You always pay your debt”_. Plan yourself with a to-do and strike off tasks as you do them. You focus your energy towards a task at a time. I use sticky note and [google keep](keep.google.com), and they work just right. Find what works for you!
9. Encourage and praise yourself
If you don’t, who will? Be your own critic. Encourage yourself to achieve goals, and praise yourself when you achieve them. It’s good for your ego and it makes you less edgy about achieving future goals. Today you are the best version of you, tomorrow you would be better!
10. Avoid self-inflicted stress
It’s easier to get things done the best way you can and not try to impress other persons. A good opinion about yourself is a good esteem builder. What you think about yourself matters more than what other persons think about you! So, don’t stress yourself trying to fit into people’s image of you. If the pressure builds, stop! Take a deep breath gradually through your nostrils, and exhale gradually through your mouth. Repeat the procedure 5-10 times or until you feel much better.
11. Be Flexible and agile
While it’s true that “what’s worth doing is worth doing well”, it’s important to know when to let go. Be flexible and agile in carrying out a task. If a task has a deadline, give it your best and be sure to deliver before the deadline. Then you can make improvements later. If you are going to give an extra hour to a 2-hour task, then the extra hour should add at least 50% value to the task. If not, it is just a waste of personal resources and energy.
12. Create a “you time”
Always have time for yourself! Time to do the things you enjoy; things that help you relieve stress. You could have this moment alone or share it with a loved one or your family. Chat, go on weekend vacations, go on dates, hang out with your buddies. By all means DON’T TALK OR DO WORK! Just do fun!
A Word from Me
You can get through each day by making proactive decisions to stir away from stress, rather than surviving hard! Feel free to try these tips and leave me a comment on which tips works for you and to suggest any other technique that has been helpful to you. There are lots of techniques on [how to manage and reduce stress](https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/publications/how-manage-and-reduce-stress). | title | 12 Easy Ways to Reduce Work Stress and Keep Your Sanity |
| body | When you are neck deep in very demanding work tasks and _attention-begging_ personal plans daily, it is always almost very difficult to go without stress!
