Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a nasty misogynistic epithet on the steps of the U.S. Capitol earlier this week, sparking demands for an apology and official action against the crude lawmaker. According to a reporter from The Hill who overheard the exchange, Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) confronted Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) outside the Capitol in between votes Monday and called her “disgusting” for suggesting that a recent spike in New York City crime could be attributed to hungry parents shoplifting food for their families. Ocasio-Cortez reportedly fired back by calling Yoho “rude.” “F---ing b---ch,” Yoho was then overheard saying as he walked off. Ocasio-Cortez apparently didn’t hear Yoho’s offensive remark. But she punched back at him in a string of tweets Tuesday. “I never spoke to Rep. Yoho before he decided to accost me on the steps of the nation’s Capitol yesterday,” she wrote. “Believe it or not, I usually get along fine with my GOP colleagues. We know how to check our legislative sparring at the committee door. But hey, ‘b----es’ get stuff done.” Ocasio-Cortez’s Democratic colleagues excoriated Yoho and demanded he issue a formal apology. “Mr. Yoho owes not only the congresswoman an apology, but also an apology on the floor of the House of Representatives,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said. “We need to pursue this kind of conduct, and make it very clear, it is unacceptable. It was the act of a bully.” Hoyer didn’t rule out official sanctions against Yoho. “Bottom line, I think it was despicable conduct that needs to be sanctioned,” he said. Hoyer did not say precisely how to punish Yoho, but among the options is a formal censure vote on the floor. A spokesman for Yoho did not return a request for comment on Tuesday.  Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) was with Yoho when he verbally attacked Ocasio-Cortez outside the Capitol. But the Texas Republican claimed he didn’t hear what the beef was about. “I was actually thinking, as I was walking down the stairs, I was thinking about some issues I’ve got in my district that need to get done,” Williams told The Hill. “I don’t know what their topic was. There’s always a topic, isn’t there?” Ocasio-Cortez said Williams had actually joined Yoho in shouting at her. “What’s wild to me, Roger Williams, is why would you blatantly lie to a reporter who saw this exchange? You were yelling at me too, about ‘throwing urine,‘” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted at the congressman. A spokeswoman for Ocasio-Cortez declined to comment on what the context was of Williams’ alleged remarks about urine. A representative for Williams did not return a request for comment. A number of Ocasio-Cortez’s male colleagues wondered why Yoho has never accosted them in similar ways. “I have suggested the same thing that AOC has poverty and unemployment lead to crime,” tweeted Rep. Also arrested, according to the source: Neil Clark from Grant Street Consultants and once called by USA Today “one of the best connected lobbyists in Columbus"; former Ohio Republican Party chair and consultant Matthew Borges; Juan Cespedes, co-founder of The Oxley Group in Columbus; and Jeffrey Longstreth, adviser to Householder. The scope of the federal investigation, the dollars involved and the arrests Tuesday make this one of the largest public corruption cases in Ohio in years.  A spokeswoman for DeVillers said an Ohio official and associates were charged in the case, which she described as a "public corruption racketeering conspiracy involving $60 million." DeVillers has scheduled a 2:30 p.m. ET press conference to discuss the case. The arrests are the result of a nearly two-year FBI investigation that included undercover federal agents who met with Householder and Clark, a source close to the investigation told The Columbus Dispatch. During those meetings, the source said, the two men made incriminating statements.  A dispatcher for the Perry County sheriff's office told the Columbus Dispatch they were assisting the FBI this morning "in the area" of Householder's farm. She declined to specify it was the Householder farm. Householder is one of the biggest names in Ohio politics and has been a major player for years in the state's Republican Party. After returning to the House a few years ago, Householder staged a comeback, with help from Democrats, when he took advantage of GOP infighting and returned to the speaker's post. "When everyone else is in complete disarray is usually when I'm at my best," Householder told The Enquirer in 2019. In his latest stint as speaker, Householder oversaw a controversial, Republican-led bailout of two Ohio nuclear plants owned by FirstEnergy Solutions, of Akron. House Bill 6, signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in June, used ratepayer fees for the $1 billion bailout of the two northern Ohio plants. The fight to approve the money was long and costly, extending even after the bill was signed into law. An effort to overturn the bailout ultimately failed after it met fierce resistance from well-funded competition. One group was a dark money operation called Generation Now, a 501(c)(4) that was not required to disclose donors under federal law. The group hired blockers to stall signature collectors working for those opposed to the bailout. The second group, Ohioans for Energy Security, paid for millions of dollars in advertisements, including ones that warned Ohioans that the Chinese would take over Ohio’s power grid if voters repealed the bailout. | body |  What is it? We’ve previously driven the fifth-generation, C8-type Audi A6 and so know about its mild-hybrid powertrains, A8-apeing bodywork and divisive infotainment system. A full road test will also follow, so the examination is far from over. But this is the first time we’ve had one on British highways and in right-hand-drive specification. It’s therefore an opportunity to find out whether the engine room of Ingolstadt’s luxury line-up can reproduce the favourable verdicts gained abroad, particularly concerning its road manners. Petrol and more fully electrified variants will follow, but for now the line-up is straightforward for prospective British buyers with a choice of either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘40’ or the 3.0-litre six-cylinder ‘50’ turbodiesel engine. We’ve sampled the former in Avant form and considered it a likeable, no-nonsense large estate that sits right in the intersection of a Venn diagram plotting luxury and utility. Trim choices are similarly straightforward: there is Sport as standard or S Line, which adds roughly £3000 to the 50 TDI’s £47,110 starting price. The latter adds Matrix LED headlights, 19in alloys, more aggressive S Line bodywork, leather and Alcantara sports seats, and a perforated leather steering wheel to a basic specification already brimming with safety and infotainment technology.  What's it like? Audi could, were it so inclined, build a saloon every bit as appealing from behind the wheel as a BMW 5 Series, but it chooses to fight on a different front and spend its development budget elsewhere. As ever with the A6, a large part of that ‘elsewhere’ is rolling refinement. Worrying, then, that tranquillity isn’t a given. The bulk of entry-level 40 TDI cars (note, these are only available in front-wheel-drive configuration) will use the passive suspension setup that’s standard on both Sport and S Line models. In the interests of body control and – we shouldn’t pretend otherwise – kerbside stance, on S Line versions the steel springs are 20mm shorter. We briefly tried such a car and while the resulting ride is nicely taut, on British roads it was also too busy, too much of the time for a limousine of this ilk. You can add some adaptive functionality to the dampers for an extra £1150 – we haven’t tested these yet, though it’s likely the Comfort setting would improve matters – but the majority of 50 TDI models will be ordered with £2050 adaptive air suspension. It’s an expensive option but with it this quattro chassis better mops up everything from the perma-jostle of corrugated B-roads to the gentler, low-frequency motorway undulations. Severe impacts from potholes and the like can announce themselves with something of a 'thwack' and the pneumatic springs further numb the driver from what’s happening down at road level, but the spacecraft glide big Audis are known for is present and correct. In fact the A6 rides beautifully on its air springs, softly bracing the body over peaks, through troughs and resisting well the sort of pitch and roll movements that can easily overwhelm a 1900kg saloon. Less convincing is the £1950 Dynamic all-wheel steering, which undoubtedly gives a very large car surprisingly agility through slower, tighter bends but to such an extent that it can feel quite unnatural. City-dwellers will like it but we would happily do without the need wind off lock unexpectedly. Moreover, it does nothing to enliven the driving experience. You might put the money ‘saved’ towards having the V6 TDI in the car’s engine bay, as opposed to its smaller, more ordinary four-cylinder sibling. This unit’s turbochargers abruptly awaken just shy of 2000rpm, but from thereon until the far side of 4000rpm there’s effortless motive force thanks to peak outputs of 457lb ft, which is nothing short of vast, and a healthy 282bhp. It’s enough to haul the 50 TDI chassis – longer, wider and taller than before – to 62mph in 5.5sec. That’s significantly quicker than the 8.1sec of the 40 TDI but a shade slower than rivals from BMW and Mercedes. On the move, speed nevertheless accrues at an alarming rate, and in subversive fashion. But performance is only a small part of it. The larger Audi engine is tremendously well mannered, remaining almost inaudible at a cruise, though it wouldn’t offend the ears even were it not. Meanwhile the eight-speed automatic transmission is slick most of the time but can occasionally hiccup at town speeds. On open roads there’s barely a break in the flow. Except when you’re in the car’s most economical mode, that is, when there is a very definite break in the flow. This is because the 48-volt system allows the engine to shut down completely if it’s not needed for a several moments, and then reignite when the throttle is depressed. It’s a nicely calibrated process that doesn’t frustrate, and helped our test car achieve a touring economy approaching 50mpg.  Should I buy one? So capable is the A6 50 TDI that it’s easier to list the reasons why you wouldn’t buy one. For one, unless this car’s particular brand of clean-cut droid-chic appeals, you’re unlikely to find it as likeable as many of its rivals, notably the Volvo S90. Perceived quality within the church-like expanse of the cabin is so great that it does yield a cosiness, mind. For another, despite the broad competence of the chassis, the Audi is not as satisfying a steer as a BMW 5 Series or Jaguar XF. This is old news, but we’re not talking only about committed driving here – simply the subtle, sporting stance those cars take through corners, even at moderate speeds. The controls in those rivals are more naturally weighted and the chassis palpably pushed from the rear axle. As such, if you enjoy not only arriving in comfort and style but also the act of driving, you’re courting disappointment in the A6. Where the Audi excels is the manner in which it isolates its occupants on threadbare British roads. In fact the ambience is comparable to the previous generation of flagship saloons, such as the A8. Air suspension and the cultured, muscular efforts of the V6 are not cheap – £9000 more than for the entry-level 40 TDI – but together they raise the game of A6 to opulent heights. A more extensive update programme is planned for the 2019 car, which has been caught in prototype Spyder form testing with the usual patterned disguise.</p> <p>Despite the camouflage wrap, several visual changes are evident for the new model. These include a redesigned front bumper with a more intricate design for the air intakes, which could adopt active shutters or flaps to boost aerodynamics. Further visual tweaks include a new horizontal fin for the side air scoops, while more significant changes are seen at the back. </p> <p> Every variant in the Huracán range looks set to adopt the Performante's high-mounted centre twin exhaust system, so in turn it's reasonable to expect greater acoustics from the 5.2-litre V10. A new rear diffuser shows the car could benefit from Lamborghini's active aero tech previewed by the <a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-pebble-beach-concours-delegance/759bhp-lamborghini-aventador-svj-officially">Aventador SVJ</a>, while reprofiled lights surround additional rear vents to boost cooling.The Huracán will follow its facelifted <a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/audi/r8">Audi R8</a> sibling, due for a reveal later this year, and is expected to adopt the same mechanical tweaks. Both cars are expected to see power rise by around 20-30bhp, with more torque, despite a host of new particulate filtration systems necessary to meet WLTP emissions regulations.
