La transformación de la granja abandonada de Torabhaig en una destilería moderna fue la visión ambiciosa del difunto empresario Sir Iain Noble, quien inicialmente logró el permiso de planificación para el proyecto en 2002.       "body": "Todos sabemos que el whisky tiene que ver con la madera, y para los whiskies irlandeses, escoceses y japoneses, los barriles ex-bourbon se han convertido en el tipo básico de madera utilizada para anejar el líquido (junto con ex-jerez y algunas otras variedades). Los barriles de bourbon usados en algún momento se obtenían por la mera suma de $15 por uso secundario. Ahora los barriles usados van por más de $125 a $400.\n\nPero además del whisky, otros productos usan barriles de bourbon usados para el añejamiento. Uno de los pioneros en el uso de barriles de bourbon para el añejamiento es el famoso productor de salsa picante de Louisiana, Tabasco. La salsa Tabasco fue producida por primera vez en 1868 por Edmund McIlhenny, un ex banquero nacido en Maryland que se mudó a Louisiana alrededor de 1840.\n\nLa salsa regular picante de Tabasco se envejece durante tres años en roble, y su salsa de reserva pasa ocho años en el barril. Como el bourbon solo usa madera tostada nueva y generalmente se considera kosher, Tabasco compra todas sus barricas de la industria del whisky.\n\nCuando los barriles usados llegan a la bodega de Louisiana en Avery Island, los trabajadores los llenarán de agua y los sudarán, desmenuzarán el carbón, colocarán sus propios aros de metal alrededor del barril y crearán una válvula en el barril para permitir que el puré de pimientos y sal se fermenten. Sus lanzamientos de la destilería Chichibu y las versiones limitadas de barriles antiguos de la destilería Hanyu son visionarios, únicos y se agotan segundos después de que estén disponibles. Obscenamente coleccionable, y como reportan, muy, muy bueno. La publicación de la semana pasada sobre Jameson Caskmates me recordó acerca de un lanzamiento similar de Ichiro que figura en el libro \"Whisky Rising\" de Stefan Van Eycekn (muy recomendado por cierto) como una de las 30 botellas mas importantes de whisky japonés.\nChichibu 2011/2015 Beer Barrel #3303 sucedió porque algunos fabricantes japoneses de cerveza artesanal vinieron a Ichiro y le pidieron comprar algunos barriles de whisky usados para envejecer sus cervezas. En lugar de venderles los barriles, se los dio a ellos en préstamo y después de que la madera pasó algún tiempo con su stout imperial, los recuperó para envejecer su whisky de 2011 a 2015. La edición limitada para La Maison Du Whisky consiste en 267 botellas a 57.6 ABV, con la etiqueta con obras de arte del singapurense Tay Bak Chiang.       "body": "Gordon & MacPhail ha estado embotellando whiskys de malta por más de 115 años como embotellador independiente y posee algunas de las bodegas más profundas e incomparables del negocio. También destilan en la destilería Benromach que compraron en 1993, pero esa es otra historia, porque esta semana hicieron algo muy especial. El último lanzamiento de la serie Private Collection fue anunciado como Linkwood Distillery 1956, Cask 20. Este es el último barril de los años 50 en su colección y se presume que será el barril final de la era de los 50 en el mundo entero.\n\nLa Destilería Linkwood se construyó en Elgin, en la región de Speyside, Escocia, en 1821. Estuvo principalmente en operación todo este tiempo y actualmente es propiedad de Diageo. Pero en 1956, cuando este barril se llenó, la destilería estaba bajo la administración de Roderick Mackenzie, quien la reabrió en 1945 después de la guerra.
