Fantastical thinking meets Reality, Reality meet Fantastical thinking… I always bet on Reality…\n\n   There will be no economic recovery in the US until such time as significant power and money flows away from NYC, DC and San Francisco in a disperse fashion to other parts of the country.       "body": "People need to wake up. Everything is not fine and things will not go back to the way they were. Every time I hear some politician, bureaucrat or talking head say “we are going to turn the economy back on and we’ll be back to where we were in no time” … I burst out laughing… it is so obviously a lie that it is the best I can do. Governments can turn off economies, there is no doubt about that as the last four weeks prove not to mention the economic impacts of every communist regime that ever existed, but they sure as hell can’t turn them on after having strangled them.\n\nIt is important for me, in the interest of full disclosure, to tell any readers, that I am a Liberty lover. Liberty in my view is given by God and it is a natural state. Freedom is not the same thing. Freedom is what governments give you. Liberty is what God gives you. Governments don’t have the right to take your Liberty. This is my view. If you consider yourself as having freedom, then you aren’t free, you are a serf of whatever government you belong to. The American idea, the American life is inseparable from living a life of Liberty.\n\nIf you find yourself unable to even consider that the Governments (Federal and State) had no right to put everyone, everywhere in shutdown/lockdown then you are about as far away from Liberty as you can possibly get. I’m not optimistic about the outcome for you of this unmitigated disaster that is most often referred to as the COVID19 event. My only advice to you is that “Liberty is Yours if You Live It!” You are not living it if you are unable to see the TYRANNY in what has been done to us.\n\nCOVID19 is going to be around… FOREVER… it is one more respiratory illness of many many that has proceeded it not to mention other bacteria and viruses. We are not porcelain dolls; we are part of the human race and have been here for 100’s of thousands of years. Yes, death is part of the package, and often at a too young age and before we’d like. But regardless, I am quite sure that hiding at home trying to avoid risk is not the same as “living”. The responses to danger are often limited in intellectual discussion to “fight or flight” but there is another lesser know reaction that always gets you killed in deadly situations… it’s called “freeze”.\n\nHere we are frozen in place by command of our governments. No problem right, it is safe, “we are all in this together”, right, there is nothing safer than everybody being at home. WRONG! You think the government will just save all 350 million of us… laughable. Every day that goes by where we are not focused on pursuing doing for ourselves and others, feeding our families, pursuing our hobbies and community activities, earning a living to make life better for our families, every day that goes by is a day gone. \n\nRegardless of when our benevolent governments (hah) stop strangling us there is going to be damage everywhere one looks. People without jobs, families without food, thousands of small businesses bankrupt as well as many medium and large enterprises, more people than you can imagine in despair and yes violence in some corners. Wait, I’ll let time tell the story… things are not fine… all who claim it is, should be held accountable for the damage they’ve done and don’t tell me that we are saving lives—there are 700 people unemployed right now for every person that has died from the Wuhan virus.       "body": "Hummm… This “turn of a phrase” would no doubt pass the smell test in many minds… however, when these words came out of the mouth of the Rector of my church this morning… I felt my brain stumble… it just didn’t feel right. There were at least 100 people at the service and it would not surprise me if I was the only one that took note or exception.\n\nI’ve heard the phrase many times before. It is most definitely political in its orientation. A common refrain I heard from my Mother was “sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can never hurt you”, depending on your generation, you might also have heard these words as a child. My Mother was right, words cannot hurt you physically, but words are powerful things and they can easily mislead, confuse and misdirect even the most contemplative among us. \n\nI fancy myself a critical thinker. Don’t get me wrong, I am far from excellence in this regard. I am in my second half and have much to learn and require far more practice but I am getting better. I encourage my young son to be a critical thinker. I encourage any child or adult to be a critical thinker. Thinking critically will have a direct impact on the quality of your life particularly in a world where government has become so big and overbearing and politics has worked its way into every aspect of our lives. As you know I love Liberty for all. I’m not sure you can attain Liberty without lots of critical thinking.\n\nNow I suspect many who might read this are wondering what I’m droning on about, particularly in the aftermath of the Virginia Beach shootings. Physical violence committed against innocents by any means, knife, fist, gun, car, bomb, is unconscionable. People who commit such acts cannot be lovers of liberty. It is one thing to defend yourself it is entirely another to harm someone who is not trying to do harm to you. Much worse is the random killing of other persons, you know or don’t, as though some dark force has taken hold of you.\n\nThere you go. You now know where I’m coming from. From the beginning of time there have been mass killings. It is not something that is new. Long ago this might have had something to do with tribal conflict, property, slaves, or other such things, and I’m sure just like now there were times where it was random and without any sense and there were apparent dark forces at work. History is replete with examples so it is impossible to deny.\n\nIf you will now indulge me, I’d like to address the Rector of my church… “Father, guns do not commit violence rather people do and you of all people should know this to be true. I would gladly pray with you using different words, “God please put your hands on those who have been consumed by the dark, by dark forces, and save them from doing harm to others…Amen”. \n\nWe need Priests, Rabbis and Imams to be striving to keep the dark forces away from us or in some cases leading us away from or even saving us from these dark forces. Violence is not attached to the instrument that causes death but rather the person who commits the violence. If our religious leaders do not understand this the challenge will be much greater. Religious leaders who fall pray to politics will help neither those who are all in on such thinking nor those they lose as a result.\n\n\"May God save the souls of the victims of the Virginia Beach killer and comfort those they have left behind and help them get beyond the tragedy with soul intact.       "title": "The Supreme Court to Decide if Citizenship is Basis for Representation in the US Republic",
      "body": "The Supreme Court has made a most unusual decision in conjunction with the Bureau of Census intention to include an affirmation of US citizenship in the 2020 Census. No doubt underlying this question is the belief that it is in fact Citizens who are to be represented in our US House of Representatives and Senate. This is important since District lines are drawn on the basis of the census to assure that every Representative represents the same number of Citizens in accordance with our laws and Supreme Court interpretation. If non-citizens are included in the Census counts in essence Citizenship is no longer a determinant of “equal representation” under Federal law. \n\nThere are many people in this country who want to elevate those who are here without proper authorization under our laws to “Citizen” with all the rights and benefits that go along with such status. Accomplishing this objective is easier if they are represented in Congress. It is these groups who through the courts are attempting to stop the Bureau of Census from including this question on the Census questionnaire. They won in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York who ruled that it was illegal for the census to ask the question. The Department of Justice appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit whose territory includes the states of New York, Connecticut and Vermont. Despite Justice Roberts assurances that there is “no such thing as Obama Judges or Trump Judges” I would say the likelihood that the Second Circuit would back up the Southern District is almost definite. Apparently at least some of the Justices at the Supreme Court have concluded the same.\n\nThe lawsuits and the appeals and the ultimate appeal to the Supreme Court would have ultimately made the whole matter moot for 2020 given the Southern District decision. Under the normal functioning of the legal system it is likely that the Second Circuit would not have made a decision in time for the Supreme Court to even hear the case this year. I’m sure that open border advocates were counting on this reality. In order for the Bureau of Census to include the question of Citizenship on the Census forms for 2020 they must begin printing these forms by July 2019, this year, and if not, then the next census would be ten years later, count em, ten years, that would be 2030. Ten more years of every person physically located in the United States being represented in our Government whether Citizen or not.\nI’m not sure whether to be relieved or not but the Supreme Court just stepped in as law allows. The Justice Department requested and received a “cert before judgement” from the Supreme Court and they have scheduled arguments to begin at the end of April. This is a very legal but highly unusual step for the Supreme Court to take and I think it speaks to just how critical this decision will be to the question of Citizenship. If being here physically is all that is required to be represented in our Government and you can through “hook or crook” accomplish an “open border” then game over for the Republic. This may seem hyperbolic but I’m not intending to be. \n\nYou should be watching this closely. The ramifications of the Supreme Court deciding it would be illegal to ask the question of “Citizenship” on the Census forms would mark the beginning of the end, alternatively if they say it is legal, we can be relieved that it still means something to be a Citizen of the United States of America and representation in our government is for the Citizen.       "body": "Just to be clear I am not anti-police and I know that there are many fine people who are police officers. It is also likely that there are many psychopaths in the ranks given the authoritarian nature of our government. Further, you should know that my knee jerk when things go wrong between citizen and the police is to blame the politicians. You’ll join me if you want things to improve or otherwise you can hang onto your current paradigm of “police are bad” or “police are good” and it will get far worse. \n\nOur politicians, our government has endlessly adopted legislation criminalizing the sensational to the mundane, usually in response to some emotionally distraught group or individual. Then, to make bad much worse, Prosecutors in our system of justice have moved progressively away from the philosophy that you must have intent to be guilty of a crime. Boom, a bubble in prosecutions, and a justice system that is unfair by virtue of the fact that not everyone can be “caught”. \n\nThere may be no better example then alcohol consumption at a restaurant. Every day of every week of every year people drive home from a restaurant having had a beer, two, three or a glass of wine or mixed drink and are unfortunate enough to be pulled over by a police officer… believe me there is always a good reason. Welcome to hell. Almost a million citizens are pulled over and prosecuted for DUI in the average year in the USA. Millions and millions more were likely technically eligible (in most states a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher) but they just weren’t caught. You’ve sacrificed many of your children to this destructive process and somehow find a way to rationalize how it is making us all safer… but what about the millions that aren’t “caught”? \nCannabis is another substance for which there are endless laws directed at criminalization of the citizen regardless of whether there is harm to someone other than the user. No cannabis is not good for you and one should think twice about its use. Then again neither is alcohol or many common food stuffs. Why cannabis? Gateway drug… not sure the science is on your side with that one. Then there are the racial aspects of cannabis enforcement… heavy interdiction in the low-income areas… and all the negative citizen-police interactions it drives without making any lasting improvement in our lives. In fact, I’d argue time has proven that the criminalization of cannabis has done more damage than good. The coming legalization of all forms of cannabis, which is approaching rapidly, will provide indisputable proof of what has been an unhelpful and destructive boondoggle on the part of government.\n\nThere are so many more examples. Criminalizing behavior that results in no detrimental impact on another citizen is bad enough but now politicians are pushing for the criminalization of political behavior and some citizens want to criminalize words or whatever they deem offensive. Stopping is not enough we need to reverse now and fast.\n\nCitizens too often today blame the police. They should instead blame the politicians. Fewer interactions are better and please stop it with the forfeiture of innocent citizens assets. Stop criminalizing actions and habits of young and old alike wherein neither property or person are harmed. Excessive criminalization simply stokes anger on the part of the citizenry against the police and I hope someday the politicians directly. Fellow citizen, I implore you, direct your attention towards the politicians who have supported criminalizing legislation that hurts more than it helps. Further, concentrate first on those politicians that use conflict between citizens and the police to manipulate and stoke emotions for their own benefit.       "body": "The sides are lining up, Democrats against Republicans, Conservatives against Progressives and so it goes. If you are partisan no doubt you’ve chosen a side and are absolute on the “rightness” of your position. Many partisans appear to believe that victory must be obtained at all cost and it matters not what those costs are in the “end”. Someone is going to lose dammit and it won’t be us no matter who has to be crushed… they would just be unfortunate collateral damage (as they say in the military).\n\nI’m of course referring to the Kavanaugh and Ford kerfuffle. Although for the thinkers out there we all know that it is really about abortion… or rather pro-choice versus pro-life… or however partisans position these things today. It is a matter of history that in the early 1970’s pro-choice advocates were able to turn the coercive power of the Federal Government onto their pro-life opponents. There was not a single acre in the United States, no state, county, township or city, where those of the pro-life persuasion could live the life they chose. Those of the pro-choice persuasion prevailed and now insisted that the Federal Government crush the life out of their opponents. \n\nI’m currently working my way through the “Battle Cry of Freedom” by James McPherson. It is non-fiction and a deep dive on the American civil war including the 20-30-year run-up to that war. I’ve read the first 4 chapters of 28 and 145 pages of 860 or so. I’ve got a long way to go. I will get through it though as what I’ve read so far is fascinating and the parallels to the here and now are many. Previously I read “Life After Google” by George Gilder. If you have an interest in exploring the future give it a read. If you are a Liberty lover it will give you hope for the future.\n\nIf you’ve read any of my previous writings then you would know me as someone who believes Liberty must prevail. Governments lie downstream from their citizens. Inevitably some citizens attempt to turn Government to their will and to the detriment of other citizens. This is an old story and one that always has an unhappy ending. This is why our founders adopted a Republican form of government and sought in the design of the Constitution to keep the Federal government small. Most of the power would be reserved to the States so the people of those states could live as they chose. Regrettably many American citizens are intent on big government and having it their way to the detriment of others.\n\nThe long arc of history is beyond the grasp of most people. It is much easier to see life in small increments and react to the stimulus of the day and of course stick with your herd. If you spend time immersed in the ramblings on display everyday in the media/entertainment/government complex then you of course know what that looks like. However, history does not care about these day-to-day ramblings. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that they have no impact. They no doubt do and not necessarily for the better. People take in information, they are impacted by what is going on around them, their experiences, their interactions and in the cauldron of body and mind ideals and beliefs form. We cannot know precisely what the future holds but it is concerning that so many are so antagonistic to so many others.\n\nOur future lies in “Liberty For All” and we should be open to exploring how this might be achieved. Those vested in our existing Government will fight this exploration for fear of losing what they have but explore we must.\n\n‘libertyaffair’\nCopyright 2018",

      "body": "If one wants truth then as an individual you must be willing to risk exposure to the unseen and/or unspoken. This is often not so easy as it requires breaking through your own filters, emotional and intellectual, and seeking that which many are eager to hide.\n\nUS Senator Nelson of Florida recently made comment to the media that one does not require an AR-15 for hunting. This is of course a red herring and attempt to preemptively close the argument—and I assure you he knows better but doesn’t want you to know. Shame on you Senator Nelson. I saw a Florida state Senator attempt to make the same argument only in a different way; he suggested that the Second Amendment was written when men had only single shot muskets and was not intended to protect anything more. I’m not so sure this individual knows better.\n\nSo, take a little critical thought journey with me if you dare. Many of you may not like my perspective but I assure you it is the perspective of 10-20-30 million other Americans, some born in America others who have managed to gain citizenship through naturalization, who value their Liberty more than anything else and certainly more than most.\n\nFirst, lets just speak the unspeakable, the Second Amendment was not about protecting the citizens right to hunt, no its intent was of much greater weight, such that many refuse to even consider the possibility and reject any notion that it could be relevant today. The Second Amendment provides for the means by which the citizenry would protect itself from the tyranny of its own government and yes through violent means if necessary. Now the hope was that simply by having an armed citizenry the government would never go so far as to tyrannize its own citizens but if they did things could be put right by those same citizens. There, it is said, that’s not a regular talking point from your “news” sources now is it. It’s a difficult thing to wrap your head around, the idea that those with authority over you, particularly a democratically elected government, could become the source of your misery and a real threat to your life. Consider though that there are many throughout the course of history in virtually every geography (including the American geography) who would tell you otherwise.\n\nYou are possibly wondering what does any of this have to do with the AR-15 as a weapon in the hands of the citizen. With all due respect to the Florida State senator who feels that the Second Amendment is about protecting our “muskets” I’ll point out that our military and local police forces are armed to the teeth with weapons of war—and not just single shot AR-15 type rifles but fully automatic multi-shot weapons that could take out hundreds of citizens easily with very little effort. I realize it is hard to contemplate that they would ever do such a thing. Myself, I can’t help but wonder about the Liberty lovers in Venezuela who now in starvation and deprivation might wish “if only we'd had a Second Amendment to secure our rights to gun ownership. Then again, many such citizens may have made it out of the country before the worst; some I’m sure are here and hopeful that Americans won’t give up this right.\n\nNow let’s consider the unseen. We are assured that our country is free, a free market, capitalist in its orientation, there is no reason to be concerned for our Liberty. But not so fast. You may be familiar with the name Benito Mussolini, a journalist, a politician, the leader of Italy’s National Fascist Party, supporter of Hitler, a real scoundrel, who ultimately met his demise at the hands of the Italian people. One of his more notable quotes was, “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”.\n\nThere is much more unseen then seen in this world. Obfuscation is the first talent of the politician and those who support them. Consider that neither Hitler nor Mussolini could have gained what they did without the help of the Corporate world. Now consider in our own country federal reserve economic activism (globalism), sending so much of our manufacturing to China (globalism), mass illegal immigration and open borders (globalism) and ceding power to the UN (globalism) benefits first and foremost the large cross-border Corporations including banks and financial firms. Do you ever wonder why it seems often that your representatives in Congress are not representing your interests?\n\nNow, don’t get me wrong, I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I don’t see conspiracy here I just simply see the pursuit of profit and return by large corporations and to this end they’ve worked hard to coop the state and our representatives with good old fashion American dollars. As a result too many of our representatives have aligned with the Corporatists to the detriment of the citizenry. Now Senators and Representatives have got their own rationalizations as to why what is good for the Corporatist is also good for the citizens but reality eventually takes hold and it becomes clear that it might not be that good for the citizens. But this is where things can go badly wrong since when those who seek power are faced with impediments they will often do anything to overcome them. Particularly when there is lots of money involved.\n\nI believe that it is fair to say that an effort to remove a rightfully elected President through any means easily falls into the category of things “going badly wrong”. The numbers of politicians, governmental institutions (DOJ, FBI and State Department among others) and businesses including the Media complex cooperating with one another to have their way and to hell with 50 million citizens and their families falls into the category of “going badly wrong”. I cannot think of a more overt and obvious merging of state and corporate power and one that likely would be unseen had Trump not won the election. If you are not worried about your government you are just not paying attention or believe you will or actually are benefiting and just don’t care.\n\nI for one am worried and not eager to see more legislation directed at reducing our second amendment rights. It seems to me that there is plenty that could be done that would address the threat presented by those intent on evil in our society. In my opinion the first focus should be on the local authorities. Despite the pleadings of government boosters, it is not in my opinion a matter of too few resources rather as with most government in America today mission creep has overextended virtually all government resource. For instance, if the local police are spending their time bolstering the cities treasury with traffic fines you might want to consider redeployment to higher and better use like monitoring the troubled and protecting schools. As to the FBI it is seeming pretty clear that there are major systemic issues in this agency that require serious and immediate attention. I’m not sure existing management can fix it. I could go on but I won’t.\n\n This is a complex issue and it deserves careful reasoned consideration not emotional hysteria. Further, caution is advised as there are many with agendas who prefer to keep them obfuscated. This puts the onus on you to have a deep understanding of the issues and to look beyond the present to an unknown future.       "body": "I long ago gave up political parties and proudly count myself an Independent. I believe in liberty for all unlike either political party and thus neither is worthy of my loyalty. Members of political parties are unable to safeguard liberty due to their confused loyalties and that leaves dispassionate and objective citizens alone in the breach to aggressively defend against political ambition and maneuvering. At the intersection of politics and anything lies stupidity of the most dangerous type and one false step puts you on the slippery slope to tyranny. This is just one of the reasons why government is best kept small.\n\nThe FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) Court is a secretive body. It is for this reason that it is controversial and will remain so. You may have recently heard about the reauthorization of section 702 of the act which allows our intelligence services to spy on non-US persons who have been selected by such agencies as representing a threat to the security of the United States. However, once a non-US person of interest is selected then if there is contact between such person and a US citizen such citizen is drawn into the net. One should not presume that such US citizen is up to no good as it could well be a reporter, innocent friend or family member, politician or other innocent. This is where the potential for the US government to violate an individual citizen’s fourth amendment rights pegs the danger section of the civil rights meter. \n\nThe media has been raging over the last few days in relation to the release of the House Intelligence Committee memo relating to the use of the “salacious and unverified” (The ex-FBI Director James Comey’s words not mine) “Trump Dossier” in order to obtain a surveillance warrant against Carter Page (a US citizen). As usual there are two distinct and competing narratives coming from the usual political and media suspects on whether this was or was not an abuse of power on the part of senior officials of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It seems that this “Dossier” was used to get what was desired from the court in order to spy on the Trump campaign via Carter Page without informing the court that said “Dossier” was in fact political opposition research paid for by the Hillary Clinton camp.\n\nI’ve drawn my own conclusions. The use of the “Trump Dossier”, a piece of political opposition research, which was without doubt constructed by Hillary supporters and Trump haters, seems like an ironically “Soviet” style law enforcement tactic and a wholly inappropriate basis for a warrant to spy on an American. Unfortunately, I could see either party, Democrats or Republicans, using such a tactic given the opportunity to and control over the government bureaucracy (clearly the advantage in this regard continues to fall to Democrats for now but it could change in the future). Anyone who is not worried about this behavior and abuses of our government are not paying attention. If you believe Liberty is a natural state for an individual you should be concerned and paying close attention as this is just further proof that our government does not.\n\nThe citizens of America are divided and will remain so. Some in these divided groups want to use our Government to tyrannize their opposition. I’m not in favor of either party pursuing such objective. The federal government must become smaller, less intrusive and recommit to the rights granted us in our Constitution.       "body": "Almost two decades ago, to my boss at the time, I made what I thought was an important observation about the multi-division corporation he was heading as its Chairman, “there is too much politics at play in the decision making and in relationships at the senior level.” His response was simply “what’s wrong with politics” … yep… it always starts at the top. At that point I tried to explain but as a political creature himself it was impossible for him to comprehend. We always had a good relationship but on this we would agree to disagree.\n\nIn the news the other day was the story of General Flynn agreeing to admit to lying to the FBI. A Special Prosecutor named Mueller managed to destroy him financially and convince him that they could drive him ever deeper into debt trying to defend himself while simultaneously threatening to go after his son. He understandably had no choice but to capitulate and accept whatever deal they offered. Lying of course is a bit strong—he simply did not share all the facts about conversations that he had with a well know Russian Ambassador who is apparently quite the man about town in Washington DC. What the General did not know is that he was being spied on by the FBI—or at least the Russian Ambassador was—probably both. Interestingly there does not appear to be anything illegal about the conversation he had with the Russian—maybe bad form in stepping on the toes of the existing Administration—but nothing illegal.\nWhat General Flynn had missed in thinking he could leave facts out is that the Obama Administration, the FBI and the DOJ had all conspired to spy on the Trump campaign all justified by a very serious and hopelessly flawed piece of opposition research commissioned and paid for by the Hillary campaign and numerous other members of the Trump opposition forces including Republicans. Oh, and its likely that members of the media were paid to bring it all to life for the public. This easily repudiated piece of work is referred to as the “Trump Dossier”. This of course puts the FBI in an advantaged situation— subpoena, question under oath, nail for facts left out (after all you can reference all the tapes obtained through the spying) and justice done.\n\nNow, if you suffer from some degree of cynicism, like myself, you might be troubled by the injustice that seemingly proceeded arriving to this point of “justice done”. I assure you that Clinton, Comey, Mueller, Lynch, Obama, Powers, Rice, Brennan, Clapper, McCain, Corker, Flake and on and on are not at all bothered by this point. I have to admit that trying to discern who the bad guy/s are in this story is challenging, well, unless of course you’re a flaming political partisan.\n\nThe men who played key roles in the founding of the United States understood well that man (men and women) should not be trusted with power—too much corrupts—absolute power corrupts absolutely. They made as good an attempt as ever has been made to limit the ability of government to gain too much power. We've known for some time that conniving men and women who crave power and money found a way to work around the system our Founders constructed and embodied in the Constitution of the United States. The games continue. The abuse of power by our government and individual players within it has been prevalent for so long that there is much trouble ahead… the cake is baked sort-a-speak.
