      "body": "<html>\n<p>A Glimpse: <a href=\"https://www.rickdoehring.com/\">Rick</a> enjoys cooking up parodies of his favourite songs. If you were to give him a call during December, you might hear &#x27;Love, Actually&#x27; in the background.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><br/><a href=\"http://leighlim.com/introductions/\">As a person who enjoys finding possible connections within my contacts</a>, I&#x27;ve started this series as a way of making introductions happen    faster (the more minds brainstorming....the more effective the result...right?).  </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Each person featured in the series would be answering 36 questions. And yes, a number of them are from the famed &#x27;<a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/jan/14/love-is-getting-answers-right-to-36-questions\">36 questions</a>&#x27; that  allow two people to have a deeper connection (by getting to know one another via a set of questions) in a short amount of time.    </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>As for the questions, they do change from time to time. Whether it be because the person wanted to skip a question (or two) or I get a &#x27;light-bulb moment&#x27; that another question would be more interesting it its place.  <br/><br/></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#1: You&#x27;re flying business class and the flight is about 15 hours. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want seated next to you?</strong></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><em>A#1: A recently retired airline pilot. I can speak at length with anyone who has a passion for a topic; I once spoke with the host of a dinner party about his Koi fish for two hours. I find that pilots are usually passionate about their work, and the bonus here is that if both of the pilots on my plane collapsed, I would be sitting next to our savior.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#2: If you were to give a TED talk, what would it be about?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#2: My topic would be &quot;It&#x27;s not about Winning, it&#x27;s about Succeeding.&quot; Success in our society has recently and frequently and crassly been described as being simply about winning. That is such an inadequate and immature way to describe how people succeed on this planet. As hard as it may be to actually accept, it&#x27;s not about winning the game, it&#x27;s about how well you succeed in reaching your potential when playing the game. I have been working on this essay for about three months and intend to submit it to a major magazine next spring.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#3: Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#3: Frequently. I prefer accuracy and brevity on the phone because I don&#x27;t like talking on the phone. I use texts and emails in most business situations. I like to be able to craft and edit my thoughts, as I am prone to talk too much as well as misspeak.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#4: What would constitute a &quot;perfect&quot; day for you?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#4: Today. I try to make each day as perfect as I can. My day is made up of sharing time with my partner, painting, writing, hiking, reading, and contacting family; add a veranda with a good view and it&#x27;s as close to perfect as I can imagine.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#5: When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#5: I sing to myself nearly everyday. I sang a parody of &quot;Leaving on a Jet Plane&quot; which I called &quot;Eating on a Hot Plate&quot; to my partner recently because we are foodies.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#6: If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#6: I&#x27;m closing in on 70 and I still like the way my mind works but my body hurts every morning – so I would choose the 30 year old body (I am assuming this body is vigorously healthy and I&#x27;m not a heroin addict). I&#x27;d choose body over mind because I believe that a 30 year old mind is like a recently bottled wine: you won&#x27;t experience it fully unless you give it time to reach its potential. In time, your mind ripens and shines but your body ages and fades.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#7: Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#7: I don&#x27;t intend to live in great pain so I will end things if that is the case; if I&#x27;m not in great pain, I&#x27;ll just die when my body gives up.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#8: Name three things you&#x27;d like to have in common when you next meet someone.</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#8: 1. Someone who will turn off their phone so we can talk; phones have become essential to living on this earth but once in a while you have to sincerely focus your attention on what&#x27;s right in front of you in order to appreciate life. 2. The person should utilize  their critical thinking skills; people today accept too readily whatever they see or read in social media and have few thoughts of their own. 3. I am drawn to people with a sense of humor because they see connections and make suppositions that alleviate the wear and tear of daily living; life is constantly challenging, and seeing and appreciating the irony and silliness of it helps you laugh, and survive.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#9: For what in your life do you feel most grateful?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#9: The love I&#x27;ve experienced giving and accepting.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#10: If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#10: This is a hard one. I really liked my childhood.  That&#x27;s why I never left it. Now some people are going to ask questions about that answer, such as: do you have a Peter Pan complex, or what trauma are you trying to avoid from childhood, or do you think it&#x27;s healthy to act like you&#x27;re a kid? Okay. I&#x27;m not Peter Pan, I wasn&#x27;t traumatized, and I think it&#x27;s healthy to act like a kid whenever you can. Because kids know how to have fun, kids are curious, kids are playful, kids are honest, and kids look at things with fresh eyes because everything is new to them. </em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#11: If you were to tell your life story as quickly as possible, how would it go? (4 minute limit)</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#11: At 13 I decided to become a writer because it looked like an easy way to make a living. It wasn&#x27;t.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#12: If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#12: The ability to recognize, and heal, people&#x27;s emotional problems.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#13: If you could find out the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#13: Is there a Purpose?</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#14: Is there something that you&#x27;ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven&#x27;t you done it?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#14: Traveling to Africa and India. I&#x27;m too old for a backpacking, adventurous trip.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#15: What is the greatest accomplishment of your life? </strong></p>\n<p><em>A#15: Giving my kids love, and confidence in themselves. </em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#16: What do you value most in a friendship?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#16: Honesty. You won&#x27;t know yourself unless you&#x27;re honest. You can&#x27;t share yourself if you don&#x27;t know who you are.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#17: What is your most treasured memory?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#17: My daughter, age 37 minutes, grabbing my little finger and not letting go for over an hour.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#18: What is your most terrible memory?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#18: Seeing my mother dead in her bed.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#19: If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#19: I would try to think less, which would give me more time to do things.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#20: What film or TV show makes you feel really hopeful each time you watch it (that you can get through anything life throws at you)?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#20: Despite its unintended misogyny and intended romanticism (thus the name of its genre), &quot;Love, Actually&quot; reaffirms my feeling that love, indeed, is all around: you just have to actively look, and engage with the world, in order to discover it. My partner and I watch the movie once a year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and quote lines back and forth throughout the year, usually to punctuate an actual moment of realization in our daily lives.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#21: What roles do love and affection play in your life? </strong></p>\n<p><em>A#21: None whatsoever... Sorry – I read the question as &quot;what roles do love and affection play in Donald Trump&#x27;s life?&quot;. As in most people&#x27;s lives, in my life love and affection play critical roles in creating my happiness and grief, my joys and regrets, and the reasons why I keep doing what I do.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#22: Why Do you do the things that you do?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#22: I don&#x27;t know what this question means because I don&#x27;t know what &quot;things&quot; means. If it is referring to my actions in general, it is because I try to be nice, and fair, and honest, in hopes that the karma spreads. If it is asking about my work, I write and paint because I like to express myself and to provoke (and perhaps entertain) an audience.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><em>I think the world is strangely, stunningly, funny. One of my frustrations in my abstract art is that it is nearly impossible to convey my sense of humor and any social satire in my work, and even more difficult to convince my audience that it&#x27;s there.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#23: How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people&#x27;s?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#23: I would say we are &quot;normally&quot; &quot;close and warm&quot;. Yes, my childhood seems happier than most others that I&#x27;ve been told about or read about.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#24: If you suddenly had $20,000 to spend on someone.. How would you spend it? (And...it can be for multiple people...you just can&#x27;t spend it on yourself)</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#24: I was astonished to learn that $600 a week during the Covid crisis made such a major difference in so many people&#x27;s lives, so I would directly and incrementally disperse the $20,000 to people in need as I encountered them or read about them.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#25: What is the one improvement on yourself you know you can do now that you have been putting off?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#25: Eliminating procrastination.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#26: Complete this sentence: &quot;I wish I had someone with whom I could share ...&quot;</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#26: Completing this sentence. Because I don&#x27;t have an answer. So I asked my partner for help. Her actual reply: &quot;It seems like completing a sentence is far too tough a task for me this morning. Because NOTHING came to mind.&quot; So much for sharing with her. I know enough people with whom I can share the things I like to do. Except tennis. I don&#x27;t know anyone who plays tennis. But since I don&#x27;t play tennis, it&#x27;s not a big problem.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#27: What&#x27;s the most important thing your close friends know about you?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#27: I&#x27;m pretty honest. (I think the &quot;pretty&quot; in that sentence supports the response.)</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#28: What are the three things that frustrate you about other people? (Are there things that frustrate you before that they don&#x27;t now? Are there things about people in general that frustrate you before and now...or you&#x27;re not bothered?)</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#28: 1. Many people don&#x27;t look at the &quot;big picture&quot;, they see only what benefits them, and then act accordingly. 2. Though I believe almost all people care about others, in today&#x27;s world many people actually do and say things which denigrate and demean others, which is very destructive to any form of civilization. 3. Many people do not develop or use their critical thinking skills.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#29: What&#x27;s an embarrassing moment in your life that you were able to get over? (Is there something that you still have yet to get over?)</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#29: I smoked cigarettes in my sister&#x27;s house, as did our parents. Years later I realized how awful that was and apologized to my sister who, being the most wonderful person in the world, told me to forget about it. I apologized a few more times before I accepted that she was okay with my inexcusable disregard for her family&#x27;s health. (I made the father of the bride toast at my daughter&#x27;s wedding and it was the worst public speaking I have ever done. Everyone said it was okay but I know it was not; I rehearsed what I would say because I wanted it to be perfect when I should have just spoken the feelings in my heart. I will never get the moment back and my toast embarrasses me to this day.)</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#30: When did you last cry in front of another person? By yourself?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#30: 2-3 months ago, due to frustration and relief, when my partner and I spoke about me being on the spectrum. 6 months ago, due to overwhelming happiness and awe, after a conversation with my daughter, when it really hit me that she was pregnant and that I was going to be a grandpa.</em></p>\n<p>    </p>\n<p><strong>Q#31: What do your friends like about you best?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#31: Maybe my humor. Maybe my thought processes. Maybe my hair. Definitely not my ability to make a decision.</em></p>\n<p>    </p>\n<p><strong>Q#32: What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#32: Nothing. Though a jokester should remember the old saying that comedy is tragedy plus time; sometimes you just have to wait a while until something can be joked about.</em></p>\n<p>    </p>\n<p><strong>Q#33: If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven&#x27;t you told them yet?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#33: I would probably regret not having invited my doctor to dinner and telling her about my recent shortness of breath. Short of that, I tell all my family that I love them each time we talk; of all the things I regret in life, I could not describe any one of them in particular as being existent primarily due to a lack of communication. </em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#34: Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#34: Since it is excluded in the premise of the question, the obvious answer would be my phone because it is extremely hard to exist in today&#x27;s world without a phone (and it contains photos). If my phone is in my pocket I would take the photo of my children laughing in Venice since it is not in my phone. If that photo is safely in the car, I would take my painting &quot;Thirteen Moons&quot; because it is the best of my 600 paintings and I could never paint it again.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#35: Of all the people in your family, whose death would you find most disturbing? Why?</strong></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><em>A#35: There is no &quot;most&quot; for me to consider in this question. The death of my son, my daughter, or my partner would be very &quot;disturbing&quot;. </em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Q#36: What&#x27;s your theme song?</strong></p>\n<p><em>A#36: &quot;O Canada&quot;. Because that&#x27;s where I thought I was moving until the last election. Know that the information below would likely contain spoilers from &#x27;Frozen 2&#x27;.</p>\n<p>-</p>\n<p>-</p>\n<p>-</p>\n<p>-</p>\n<p>-</p>\n<p>-</p>\n<p><br/>My history on doing Timestamp Commentary dates back to <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3t3y2m/homeland_5x07_oriole_viewer_timestamp_commentary/\">Season 5 of &#x27;Homeland</a>&#x27;. The reception to the idea had <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3palwx/homeland_5x03_super_powers_episode_discussion/cw645ez/\">positives</a> and <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3ril46/homeland_5x05_better_call_saul_viewer_timestamp/cwona2w/\">negatives</a>. I stuck with it for a couple of episodes, <a href=\"http://leighlim.tumblr.com/post/147037500386/commentary\">then moved to Tumblr</a> (the home of &#x27;the fan&#x27;). <a href=\"http://leighlim.tumblr.com/post/148884323446/predicament\">While on Tumblr I held off sharing my whole commentary</a>, and just left it for readers who initially enjoyed reading my posts and requested it directly. Good thing that hasn&#x27;t happened...yet. But if it did...I&#x27;m very hopefull that the &#x27;Pixar Process&#x27; infused Disney team would be able to figure out the best version of the story. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>9:24</strong> – <em>Anna sings</em> – As someone who&#x27;s outgrown musicals (though maybe I haven&#x27;t ---- because isn&#x27;t &#x27;Begin Again&#x27; sort of a musical?)...I couldn&#x27;t really articulate the line in which I wouldn&#x27;t be able to watch a film that had this kind of singing. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>9:57</strong> – <em>Anna catches and nuzzles Olaf</em> – Ah....am I counting myself among those who&#x27;s &#x27;life list&#x27; includes cuddling with Olaf? Has there been a mascot Olaf?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>10:16</strong> - <em>Kristoff starts singing</em> – Maybe this is the most I could go? Or maybe this is where the reviews are &#x27;sort of&#x27; right? It feels like unnecessary exposition (or at least it could just go for a couple of seconds)...but then...the upside is...if I were responsible taking a handful of 10-year-old girls to the cinema to watch this...I mean...I probably can&#x27;t complain. I guess this is sort of made for them.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>11:22</strong> – <em>Olaf tosses the fish back into the water</em> – Um....has Olaf been told where it goes next?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>13:17</strong> – <em>Olaf rearranges enabling Kristoff to guess in seconds</em> – Bummer that this isn&#x27;t a Blu-Ray...as I would be wishing that I could see that scene where they attempted to play charades...but Olaf isn&#x27;t able to read yet. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>18:09</strong> – <em>Elsa sings</em> – I think I get it....to me...this one crosses (just a bit over) into melodrama. That&#x27;s why it probably doesn&#x27;t appeal (or I don&#x27;t actively look for films that use this approach).</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>21:18</strong> – <em>The kids stick crystals onto Olaf&#x27;s face and head</em> – And....that&#x27;s it. As long as there is balance...and that one thing (specific kind of singing?) doesn&#x27;t go on too long. I would still consider my purchase a win (which is a bummer that it&#x27;s kind of a no-return scenario isn&#x27;t it?). </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>23:32</strong> - <em>Olaf gleefully bounds in and out of the shot wearing an ice crystal skirt, skimpy top, and a tiara</em> – Oh...Olaf. You are just precious!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>24:12</strong> – <em>Olaf rattles trivia while they travel</em> – Why do I get the feeling that &#x27;Men get hit by lightning...&#x27; is true because....it&#x27;s a statistic that until now....men are likely the ones who venture out (shall we count adolescents?) during risky weather. Still...true or not....I wonder where Olaf found this information. Is it because of the Internet? An app downloaded just for trivia? Or science journals?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(I mean: &#x27;water memory, &#x27;lightning hits&#x27;, &#x27;daily blink rate&#x27;...? That sounds like....well....Olaf couldn&#x27;t be binging &#x27;Cash Cab&#x27; or &#x27;Jeopardy&#x27;....)</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>25:30</strong> – <em>Olaf walks bleary eyed</em> – Another thing we didn&#x27;t know we needed: sleepy Olaf!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>26:48</strong> – <em>Olaf muses on what happens next</em> – Whoa! Or at least the antagonist? Because...in a way....Olaf is in tune with what&#x27;s happening....and at one point probably crossed paths with Samantha?)</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>35:12</strong> – <em>Olaf gives the newbies a bit of a primer</em> – Come on! Really!? If people knew....I mean....this is just hilarious. The writing team sure cracked this story. I hope. But why!? I mean...when Sven nodded towards the direction of where (presumably) Olaf, Anna, and Elsa went....I would have been okay with the singing....while on his journey. But...this? I mean...are the animators being cheeky? Isn&#x27;t this a bit like paying homage to 80&#x27;s pop ballads (and the music videos they represent)?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>50:18</strong> -  <em>Kristoff continues singing</em> – And it even is mixed like a 80&#x27;s Pop ballad! The reception to the idea had <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3palwx/homeland_5x03_super_powers_episode_discussion/cw645ez/\">positives</a> and <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3ril46/homeland_5x05_better_call_saul_viewer_timestamp/cwona2w/\">negatives</a>. Back to the &#x27;Book Club&#x27;, Diane? Yet somehow I doubt that it&#x27;ll happen. The episode picking up right where #2 left off....is...really lending to the pace. I mean....&#x27;The Good Wife&#x27; did it...but this is &#x27;thriller&#x27; level pacing. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>15:38</strong> – <em>Marissa visits Julius</em> – Oh!!!!!! And the Kings did a &#x27;Frank Landau&#x27; fake!!! I did also wonder who Diane was referring to....but now after the reveal...it makes sense. Look how Julius is delighted to see her!!!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(I mean....who could forget!? Didn&#x27;t Marissa have a hand at getting him appointed? I mean...even if Roland Blum was ultimately the one who got him the shoo-in....we got a glimpse that they are loyal to each other. And yes....with the whole &#x27;Landau berating Marissa&#x27; for helping out Julius&#x27; appointment....I mean...why did I ever think that it would be the case!!!??? I mean...Landau and Julius are from different parties. This is why....one season a year...and watching episodes week by week is really beneficial to truly enjoy a show. )</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>24:20</strong> – <em>Hugh pops up in the opening credits</em> – And another reminder of a newbie! Oh....I am so excited on how the Kings would use his skills. I&#x27;m smiling so widely....My goodness. What a way to introduce this guy! I mean he&#x27;s bloody mucking around at work! I bet he just finds little things like this to do all day because he needs to be paying attention to what&#x27;s happening around him.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>If only I could find comics that made me laugh heartily like this. Maybe...that&#x27;s the reason I have to look elsewhere?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(When I rewound to rewatch what was happening. What I initially thought was a potato....it was actually a Rutabaga. And....it gets better....the game exists! I mean....Maybe The Kings still made a specific one. But After a quick search...there is something called...<a href=\"https://boredalot.com/the-potato-peeling-game/\">actually I&#x27;m not sure what it&#x27;s named</a> and &#x27;<a href=\"https://apps.apple.com/us/app/i-peel-good/id1471374791\">i Peel Good</a>&#x27;. And yes....Rutabega is level 14....I would have fallen off my chair. How silly...and hilarious! I am keen now to read Hugh Dancy interviews on how the game made its appearance on the show. Is he a player? And...I didn&#x27;t realise that him antagonising Edie was a set-up. But that&#x27;s not right isn&#x27;t it? It&#x27;s just they are just leveling up...each time they churn out a season (particularly a new show). Maybe when things get stale we&#x27;ll have another season of BrainDead?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>It&#x27;s a shame though that this is Cush Jumbo&#x27;s final season with the show. Did she feel that it was it for Lucca Quinn when Rose Leslie left last season (I still was bummed of how they ended Maia&#x27;s arc...though there was a big of optimism there...as there has been a glint during season 1 that she is a mirror of Diane. Nice to see Olivia Munn headlining (her first?) romantic comedy. Just when I thought it was becoming too cheesy...Dean Craig pulls back and lets the narrator lean into the annoyance.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>I know I shouldn&#x27;t put it on Dina to weigh in, but she could have requested Greg to wait in the vehicle what she talks to Jack for maybe 10 minutes?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(Yes....if you find yourself in that same situation --- you have my permission to play that card! Just being aware that the risk is...the &#x27;Jack&#x27; in your story might make fun of you and say that it isn&#x27;t necessary. Then again...if that happened...and your &#x27;Jack&#x27; regretted it? At least it&#x27;s on him now. You don&#x27;t need to worry about regretting anything...as you did what you could. You gave him an opportunity to say what he needs to say...and he didn&#x27;t take it).</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>11:14</strong> - <em>Chaz confirms his name to Rebecca</em> – And....insert a laugh track from my people! That &#x27;penne&#x27; gag was definitely toeing the line for me. If that would be what I&#x27;m in for...the next hour? I think we&#x27;re okay. And...maybe a 7/10?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>For a moment there...I couldn&#x27;t place Aisling Bea...then after looking at her filmmography....I got it:  &#x27;<a href=\"https://www.npr.org/2019/10/18/771219896/review-living-with-yourself?t=1588732989686\">Living with Yourself</a>&#x27;!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>26:08</strong> - <em>Haley asks Jack to put Marc to sleep</em> – Okay...that&#x27;s fresh. Well done Dean! Why am I loving the supporting cast rather than the central couple? Could it be because unlike a lot of films that didn&#x27;t make my recommendation list...this one spent adequate time in development?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>27:08</strong> – <em>Jack ponders on what he&#x27;s going to do next</em> – Ask Dina for help!!! Go! Go!!!!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>57:13</strong> - <em>Amanda headbutts Jack</em> – What!? Not a slap, a punch...but a headbutt. Well done Freida Pinto for saying yes to this role! I definitely was not expecting that.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>---------------  </p>\n<p>Similar to &#x27;<a href=\"https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/otherhood-2019\">Otherhood</a>&#x27;, this one <a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/apr/10/love-wedding-netflix-romcom\">hasn&#x27;t also received</a> the kind of praise from critics that I had hoped. It&#x27;s likely because both films hover in a spot that is silly yet not as raunchy (which I appreciated --- and it did keep its &#x27;M&#x27; rating) as the likes of &#x27;<a href=\"https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/ted\">Ted</a>&#x27; or &#x27;<a href=\"https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-hangover-2009\">The Hangover</a>&#x27;.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>What happens when you end up in an overlap? Well...usually not many of any of the demographics are there. So....that also means there are fewer critics there too!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(And...you&#x27;re absolutely right! This also means...that if you&#x27;re looking to write about these kinds of films. You would have a captive audience...because you wouldn&#x27;t have much competition. So far? I only have found <a href=\"https://variety.com/2020/film/reviews/love-wedding-repeat-review-sam-claflin-1234575330/\">the one written by Owen Gleiberman</a> for Variety. Owen recognises that though there are some ingredients we&#x27;ve seen before...it&#x27;s still a fresh take. Sometimes that&#x27;s all we viewers need: a tweak to an approach that worked well more than 20 years ago.)</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The good news is that this might be the best I&#x27;ve seen Sam Claflin. Though I haven&#x27;t seen a lot of his filmography except &#x27;Adrift&#x27;, &#x27;Me Before You&#x27;, and &#x27;Love, Rosie&#x27;. Wait! Why did I forget &#x27;Their Finest&#x27;? Which took me awhile to recognise him.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>It&#x27;s too bad that I wasn&#x27;t viewing the DVD version as I would have been keen to see those scenes that were quite fun (like the ones included in the end credits) but didn&#x27;t make it to the final cut.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>And who initially provided the funding?       "body": "Hi Leigh. Yes, the last I heard Arizona is at 9 cases. I do not think there is very much testing happening in Arizona. The numbers can be misleading if most of the population of the state is not tested. \n\nThe latest update is that as of Sunday, all the K-12 schools in Arizona are closed. The schools in most of the state were on spring break this past week. Many went abroad (especially college students) and it will be interesting to see how well it is contained with school being closed. \n\nI went to the store on Friday night and there were empty shelves, especially the bread and the frozen food sections. \n\nHow are things there in your part of Australia? Could it be because I was too engrossed with the film to remember to note observations and reactions? Or was I bracing to press stop and eject knowing that this was an MA film?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>I&#x27;m looking at one of the posters of the film (as well as the one that is displayed on IMDB) and I just want to give Theodore a hug. Gone is the link (for most of the time anyway) to &#x27;Alvin and the Chipmunks&#x27;. I bet the film would slow it down a bit....just to add to the complative air. Wow. Just wow. I have to read other of Spike&#x27;s scripts from now on! The analysis on The Blacklist about <a href=\"https://gointothestory.blcklst.com/movie-analysis-her-5651e6e0c0be\">Samantha having a similar arc to Summer</a> and also seen as not having her own life...is...well....just pushed a bit because an OS AI is basically designed for the protagonist. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Page 47</strong> - <em>Samantha wonders about an interesting variation of the human body</em> - You gotta tell us how you came up with the armpit line Spike!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><br/> ---------------  <br/><br/></p>\n<p>I have since seen the film (proof that if there is a fit...a piece of work would eventually find its way to its intended audience --- and yes...much like &#x27;Three Billboards...&#x27; which I read the script first) and have gone and sought out all sorts of content related to Spike Jonze. I found out that he is behind Viceland (where he looks after <a href=\"https://www.vox.com/2016/2/29/11588320/going-to-viceland-with-shane-smith-and-spike-jonze\">the content side of things</a>), got Christopher Walken <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8Yz9OLXu8Q\">to dance like nobody&#x27;s watching</a>, and the brains behind <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go6Hpal8fUA\">that Apple commercial that I haven&#x27;t seen</a> (well...of course I have...now).</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://live.staticflickr.com/4741/26682650668_4f148c80dc_z.jpg\"/></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><a href=\"https://www.flickr.com/photos/raphaelbusgaib/26682650668/\">Photo</a> by Raphael Busgaib</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(I picked this photo to represent a scene that could have taken place between Theodore and Samantha. As this isn&#x27;t the first one that I&#x27;ve jotted down notes of (if it&#x27;s not yet up in the near future...you can definetely nudge me for &#x27;Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri&#x27;). </p>\n<p>Though in a way...it had been ushered by film commentary (with accompanying timestamps) dating back to <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3t3y2m/homeland_5x07_oriole_viewer_timestamp_commentary/\">Season 5 of Homeland</a>. The reception to the idea had <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3palwx/homeland_5x03_super_powers_episode_discussion/cw645ez/\">positives</a> and <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3ril46/homeland_5x05_better_call_saul_viewer_timestamp/cwona2w/\">negatives</a>. I bet the film would slow it down a bit....just to add to the complative air. Wow. Just wow. I have to read other of Spike&#x27;s scripts from now on! The analysis on The Blacklist about <a href=\"https://gointothestory.blcklst.com/movie-analysis-her-5651e6e0c0be\">Samantha having a similar arc to Summer</a> and also seen as not having her own life...is...well....just pushed a bit because an OS AI is basically designed for the protagonist. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Page 47</strong> - <em>Samantha wonders about an interesting variation of the human body</em> - You gotta tell us how you came up with the armpit line Spike!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><br/> ---------------  <br/><br/></p>\n<p>I have since seen the film (proof that if there is a fit...a piece of work would eventually find its way to its intended audience --- and yes...much like &#x27;Three Billboards...&#x27; which I read the script first) and have gone and sought out all sorts of content related to Spike Jonze. I found out that he is behind Viceland (where he looks after <a href=\"https://www.vox.com/2016/2/29/11588320/going-to-viceland-with-shane-smith-and-spike-jonze\">the content side of things</a>), got Christopher Walken <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8Yz9OLXu8Q\">to dance like nobody&#x27;s watching</a>, and the brains behind <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go6Hpal8fUA\">that Apple commercial that I haven&#x27;t seen</a> (well...of course I have...now).</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://live.staticflickr.com/4741/26682650668_4f148c80dc_z.jpg\"/></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><a href=\"https://www.flickr.com/photos/raphaelbusgaib/26682650668/\">Photo</a> by Raphael Busgaib</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(I picked this photo to represent a scene that could have taken place between Theodore and Samantha. As this isn&#x27;t the first one that I&#x27;ve jotted down notes of (if it&#x27;s not yet up in the near future...you can definetely nudge me for &#x27;Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri&#x27;). </p>\n<p>Though in a way...it had been ushered by film commentary (with accompanying timestamps) dating back to <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3t3y2m/homeland_5x07_oriole_viewer_timestamp_commentary/\">Season 5 of Homeland</a>. The reception to the idea had <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3palwx/homeland_5x03_super_powers_episode_discussion/cw645ez/\">positives</a> and <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/homeland/comments/3ril46/homeland_5x05_better_call_saul_viewer_timestamp/cwona2w/\">negatives</a>. I bet the film would slow it down a bit....just to add to the complative air. Wow. Just wow. I have to read other of Spike&#x27;s scripts from now on! The analysis on The Blacklist about <a href=\"https://gointothestory.blcklst.com/movie-analysis-her-5651e6e0c0be\">Samantha having a similar arc to Summer</a> and also seen as not having her own life...is...well....just pushed a bit because an OS AI is basically designed for the protagonist. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Page 47</strong> - <em>Samantha wonders about an interesting variation of the human body</em> - You gotta tell us how you came up with the armpit line Spike!</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><br/> ---------------  <br/><br/></p>\n<p>I have since seen the film (proof that if there is a fit...a piece of work would eventually find its way to its intended audience --- and yes...much like &#x27;Three Billboards...&#x27; which I read the script first) and have gone and sought out all sorts of content related to Spike Jonze. I found out that he is behind Viceland (where he looks after <a href=\"https://www.vox.com/2016/2/29/11588320/going-to-viceland-with-shane-smith-and-spike-jonze\">the content side of things</a>), got Christopher Walken <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8Yz9OLXu8Q\">to dance like nobody&#x27;s watching</a>, and the brains behind <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go6Hpal8fUA\">that Apple commercial that I haven&#x27;t seen</a> (well...of course I have...now).</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://live.staticflickr.com/4741/26682650668_4f148c80dc_z.jpg\"/></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><a href=\"https://www.flickr.com/photos/raphaelbusgaib/26682650668/\">Photo</a> by Raphael Busgaib</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(I picked this photo to represent a scene that could have taken place between Theodore and Samantha. Maybe it is intentionally wanting to weed out those who get annoyed by complications? I mean...I almost wanted to walk away because the story is clearly for viewers who love details. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>As for me? I&#x27;d be more concerned about the story, pacing and arc itself. That&#x27;s probably I don&#x27;t get into too much of the detail....and as a result...get annoyed when the detail falls through the wayside (as with episodes of Homeland in Season 5 that have to do with hacking).</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>I mean...even the brand appearances are structured for those who appreciate detail. Instead of flashing a T-Mobile logo, the mention of the brand is buried deep in dialogue. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>1:18:34</strong> – <em>Epilogue</em> – I&#x27;m not sure whether to get upset, annoyed or curious. If I was upset...maybe I would be annoyed that I let a film lead me along for more than an hour and get to this point. At which I&#x27;m wondering: Is that it!? Shouldn&#x27;t there be more to the story?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Part of me couldn&#x27;t believe that it was the end. When it just felt like that whole thing (Which interestingly didn&#x27;t feel like an hour) was really a prologue. Yeah...it dragged along and got melodramatic at times...but somehow I&#x27;m thinking that it has something different to offer. There are no action sequences at all (despite the score making it feel like one is coming up). </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>I&#x27;d say it&#x27;s a film with more information than emotion. While &#x27;Arrival&#x27; shows us the emotional core (a mother going through a journey) then supports the story well with the right setting, &#x27;UFO&#x27; seems to just want us to look at those notes that we left ourselves not exactly sure what they are for or the memories we have that we keep clinging to. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><br/> ---------------  <br/></p>\n<p><br/>I recently found out that Gillian Anderson is quite into Science Fiction (that she already is at <a href=\"https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/gillian-anderson/the-sound-of-seas/\">her third novel</a> with it as the core) and not just because she was typcast in roles within that genre (or because of playing Dana Scully). How did that happen even if I wasn&#x27;t really a regular viewer of The X Files? Well, it was because I read though the information in <a href=\"https://www.wbur.org/modernlove/2019/01/02/maternal-wisdom-anderson-edelman\">the WBUR page</a> about her reading Hope Edelman&#x27;s Moderm Love essay titled &#x27;Maternal Wisdom (5 Pounds Worth)&#x27;</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Note: As a parent, you might agree that you might be able to let your 8 year old fraternal twins (who absolutely relish this kind of stuff). A bit like &#x27;Arrival&#x27; right?
