Ce dernier est généralement associé aux religions, mais il l'est surtout à la métaphysique dont elles sont une des formes. La métaphysique est la branche maîtresse de la Philosophie, elle est la philosophie de l'esprit et a pour but d'éclairer l'homme sur les mystères de notre existence et sur l'énigme du monde.\nLeur point commun est que l'homme a été qualifié d'animal politique et d'animal métaphysique tant les besoins politiques et métaphysiques lui étaient caractéristiques et indispensables. Leur prépondérance est telle dans l'esprit humain qu'on leur doit presque autant de bienfaits que de crimes. On peut citer la charité de certains religieux ou le dévouement et l'honnêteté de certains activistes politiques. Cependant, on ne peut nier que ni l'une ni l'autre n'ont pu empêcher les guerres et qu'elles en ont été fréquemment la cause. Le gros du public, dupe et parfois complice, s'est souvent aligné avec les politiciens criminels et fauteurs de guerres, et les métaphysiciens charlatans et haineux. Ainsi, voit-on qu'au nom de la Liberté et de la Bonne Parole les gens se sont entre-tués! «Ô Liberté, que de crimes on commet en ton nom !», s'écriait Manon Roland avant d'être guillotinée par les Républicains. C'est aussi en son nom que dans nos contemporains ont édifié les camps de concentrations avec l'inscription, détournée par les National-Socialistes, «Le travail rend libre», ou encore «Par le travail, la liberté!» dans les goulags des gouvernements communistes athées, et que l'ont bombarde impitoyablement les peuples prétendument gouvernés par des despotes, afin de poursuivre des politiques peu avouables d'édification de nations. Et c'est pour la Bonne-Nouvelle, pour la Bonne Parole, pour savoir quelle religion est la plus pacifique qu'on a eu tant de guerre de religions, le colonialisme, sans compter toutes les brimades et oppressions quotidiennes dont souffrent les minorités religieuses, infligées par leurs rivales.\n\nVisiblement, ni la Liberté, ni la Bonne Parole n'ont été comprises par l'homme. Ni la politique ni la métaphysique n'ont pu améliorer la moralité de l'homme bien qu'elles aient eu et ont, dans les temps anciens aussi bien que dans les temps modernes, le privilège d'être inculquées dès le plus jeune âge, exceptions faites de certaines métaphysiques et philosophies politiques  qui ne s'adressent qu'à des esprits intellectuellement mûrs. Je ne suis même pas sûr qu'en enseignant aux plus jeunes les principes de la liberté ou le principe métaphysique selon lequel nous sommes tous issus de la même source, et que donc faire violence aux autres revient à se faire violence à soi, l'on puisse élever grandement l'homme. Quand je parlais d'esprit intellectuellement mûr, j'entendais esprit chez lequel les fondements de la raisons sont assimilés : le principe d’identité, le principe de contradiction, le principe du tiers exclu et le principe de raison suffisante. Sans eux, aucune discussion n'est possible, c'est-à-dire aucune discussion permettant de faire avancer les débats philosophiques sérieux, pas la philosophie de comptoir et ses échanges d'opinions stériles. Hélas, on voit combien l'homme est peu enclin à, et même dans certains cas incapable de, les utiliser. Sinon comment explique-t-on que tant de systèmes politiques ou religieux soient de pures contradictions au niveau rationnel et que tant de gens persistent dans leur croyance? Par ailleurs, quand bien même les gens y adhèrent ostensiblement, dans les faits ils pratiquent exactement le contraire. Certains parlent de libéralisme mais n'ont en tête que l’assujettissement de leur voisin, certains parlent de communisme mais n'ont d'yeux que pour leur intérêt personnel. Il en est aussi ainsi dans les religions, où les bigots et les cagots sont monnaie courante. Par une espèce de tromperie de l'esprit, tout ce qu'il y a de plus malfaisant et de roué parvient à infiltrer ces doctrines et les déformer jusqu'à les rendre méconnaissables. C'est pourquoi en général, ceux qui tiennent le haut du pavé, tant en métaphysique qu'en politique, sont les plus vils et les plus coquins que la terre ait jamais portés. \"Aux Antilles, les maîtres professent de père en fils, depuis l'institution de l'esclavage, la Religion chrétienne. Plusieurs fois par jour ils répètent ces paroles: «Tous les hommes sont frères; aimer son prochain, c'est accomplir toute la loi.»—Et pourtant ils ont des esclaves.\", déplorait Frédéric Bastiat. Même à notre époque éclairée et informée, on continue à voir des partisans zélés des religions ou de politiques humanistes asservir leurs semblables, les entasser dans des camps pour migrants près des frontières, leur envoyer la police pour les empêcher de servir des soupes populaires et tant d'indignités qu'on se demande si ce n'est pas le diable lui-même qui a pris la robe du saint ou le fou qui se cache sous le costume de l'homme d’État.",

Elle lui dicte que, moyennant une peine équivalente, il peut obtenir les mêmes biens qu'autrui et que chacun peut vivre en paix de cette manière. Mais hélas, cette même raison peut l'amener à conclure que l'usage de la force lui permettrait d'acquérir ces mêmes satisfactions à moindre peine. C'est ainsi que la raison, au cours des siècles, s'est faite la maquerelle de nos pires désirs, et qu'une partie d'entre nous, guidés par leurs instincts de prédateurs se sont déchaînés sur leurs semblables avec violence, massacrant ou réduisant en esclavage leur propres frères dont les seuls crimes étaient d'être moins bien armés ou de s'opposer à leur prétentions injustes. Je n'émettrais pas de conjectures hasardeuses sur les origines d'une telle violence, sans doute est-elle inscrite dans les recoins les plus profonds de la conscience humaine. Quoiqu'il en soit le langage populaire ne se trompe pas : le mot prédateur servait aussi autrefois à désigner le pillard, l'homme qui vit de rapines. Les grands conquérants, qui étaient en réalité de grands pillards, se sont d'ailleurs souvent comparés aux plus puissants des animaux, ceux qui n'ont aucun rival capable de les abattre ou de les voler, c'est-à-dire les prédateurs absolus. C'est qu'ils relèvent plus de la bête de proie que de l'homme supérieur, celui qui n'a nul besoin d'esclaves ou de maîtres. Ils ont même élevé au plus au niveau la glorification de leur violence bestiale et ne s'en sont jamais cachés, en témoignent les représentations sur les armoiries des aristocraties militaires : des aigles, des lions, des loups, des dragons etc., sûrement faites pour frapper leurs opposants de terreur rappelant ainsi à la conscience populaire sa place de proie dans cette hiérarchie. On peut d'ailleurs lire dans Henri VI de Shakespeare : \"*Écoutez-moi, compatriotes ! ou bien renouvelez le combat, ou bien arrachez les lions du manteau de l'Angleterre. Renoncez à votre patrie ; prenez pour armes un mouton à la place d'un lion : le mouton ne fuit pas avec moitié autant de timidité devant le loup, ni le cheval ou le bœuf devant le léopard, que vous ne fuyez devant vos esclaves si souvent subjugués par vous.*\"  Des royaumes entiers se sont créés pour protéger leurs esclaves des conquérants voisins ou pour conquérir les esclaves de ceux-ci. Les esclaves les mieux lotis étant ceux dont les maîtres étaient les moins rudes. \n\nBien entendu, dans le monde moderne, ce mode de prédation du labeur et des biens d'autrui,  ne peut plus être commis qu'à grands frais et grands risques, et il est même arrivé que les proies de ce joug inique se révoltent et décapitent leurs oppresseurs. Mais ces hommes, vivant de la spoliation et de l'esclavage, cherchent encore et toujours un moyen de se faufiler dans les défenses que l'humanité éclairée à ériger pour protéger d'eux. Ils sont malins comme des diables et impitoyables de surcroît! Tel était le modèle du prince selon Machiavel. \" *Le prince, devant donc agir en bête, tâchera d’être tout à la fois renard et lion : car, s’il n’est que lion, il n’apercevra point les pièges ; s’il n’est que renard, il ne se défendra point contre les loups ; et il a également besoin d’être renard pour connaître les pièges, et lion pour épouvanter les loups. Ceux qui s’en tiennent tout simplement à être lions sont très-malhabiles.*\"\n\nC'est dans ce contexte que la caste des pillards s'est légèrement ouverte en permettant à tout un chacun d'accéder à une partie du butin, que ce soit par élection ou sélection de tribuns ou de représentants du peuple donnant ainsi aux victimes l'illusion d'avoir les mêmes droits que les maîtres.  On ne capture plus les biens d'autrui de façon active (sauf dans le cas des criminels ordinaires), on se contente d'en effectuer des prélèvements (légaux ou non). Voilà la société moderne. Un mélange subtil de fraudes, de mensonges, de menaces, d'intimidations, de violences telle est la caractéristique du plus fin des prédateurs modernes, la bête de proie la plus perfectionnée que l'humanité ait eu à affronter : l'être humain lui-même, plus précisément celui qui n'obtient rien par l'échange volontaire mais tout par la force et la ruse. Ce sont de telles gens qui sont des loups pour l'homme.",
