      "title": "Insight Into Amazon’s Delivery Service",
      "body": "March 17th was my last day working as a delivery driver for an Amazon DSP (Delivery Service Partner). During my routes I experienced issues and situations that I figured I could share with you all. My hope is that it will help you understand how the process works in order to get the best delivery outcome, or at the very least develop sympathy for the drivers. Most of these issues reflect or are tied to Amazon’s Flex app in some way as it is how everything is scanned, tracked, and delivered.\n\nThese are based on my personal experiences while working as a delivery driver.\n\n<b>Update your notes</b>\nThere are plenty of times where the notes for the delivery are contradictory or just outdated. Picture this: a driver stops at your house to make a delivery. They read the notes attached to your delivery where the first part states to deliver to the front door but the last part is where you’ve stated that the package should be delivered to the back door. Confused, the driver calls you to get clarification. You are at work and actually don’t need the package delivered to the back door because those were instructions for a package you received three months ago and someone is at your home this time. This takes away your time at work and delays the driver.\n\n<b>You don’t need to specify “Front Door Receive” in your notes</b>\nFront door delivery is assumed for homes and receptionists for businesses, so putting these down in the notes actually just adds another screen for the driver to click through in the Flex app. However, it is handy for apartment complexes as the delivery can be to the customer’s door, the main office, or only directly to you if you’re home.\n\n<b>You won’t get a call in advance</b>\nThe delivery drivers are concerned with their current stop for the most part. While they can view upcoming stops or even set another stop on their route as the current stop, it is not a quick thing to do in the Flex app. Absolutely no driver will individually check each and every stop in their route to see if anyone needs to be contacted in advance because it would take an incredible amount of time that they don’t have. The drivers at my local distribution center will get about 150-200 stops for the day, each requiring one or more packages to be delivered. Keep in mind that “group stops” count as one stop, so they’re likely delivering to even more locations (unless it’s multiple people from the same house). By the time they get to your stop and read your notes, they’ll already be at your stop. This means you’re either getting a call without enough time in advance or no call at all. Of course, this is assuming you still require the phone call at all and it’s not an old note from a delivery months ago.\n\n<b>Sometimes location pins are incorrect</b>\nThere are times when a driver is trying to find your place but the location pin in the app is either wrong or conflicting with the notes on your delivery. This is definitely not your fault but it does happen and may actually cause your package to not be delivered at all. The reason being so that the package does not get stolen or delivered to the wrong person. It does help the driver as well as those are things that can bring their individual score down, which in turn affects their company’s score as well.\n\n<b>The Flex app is terrible at navigation</b>\nWhere to begin… The Flex app’s GPS functionality is not good. It has issues with orientation, route to get to your next stop, and sometimes navigating to the stop at all.\n\nOrientation is frustrating as the app will think you’re facing the opposite direction usually. However, it’s unpredictable because it doesn’t do it all the time or even consistently. It become very confusing when driving in unfamiliar areas because so often you think you’re heading the right way only for the app to catch up and want you to do a U-turn. Such a maneuver isn’t always doable in those big vans.\n\nSometimes the app doesn’t quite know how to get you to the next stop. One time I was driving to my first stop and the app said that I would need to turn right at the next intersection. Once I was approaching that intersection, I glanced at the app and saw that the app thought I needed to make a right, then immediately whip a U-turn, and then go straight through the intersection. All that translated to: I needed to turn left. So I did. I was lucky I caught it and saved myself that time.\n\nOccasionally, the Flex app won’t navigate to the pin at all. Case and point: I followed the GPS navigation in the Flex app to what I thought was my next stop. When I arrived I was so confused because I had arrived at a building that served as the nutrition center of the local school district. After checking the address the package needed to go to and punched it into Google instead, I had apparently been routed 6 minutes away from the correct location. I had called my dispatch about it, who stated that another driver just had the same issue.\n\n<b>Put your dogs/animals away</b>\nI love dogs, but when I’m approaching a dog’s living space they typically get defensive (as they should). This actually gets worse if the dog’s owner is present as the dog will act in defense of their owner, regardless of any actual danger present. If the dog is tethered to something, that might be good enough for the driver to deliver but unlikely as it is up to the driver to determine if it is safe to deliver or not. If the anchor of the tether cannot be easily seen then the chance of getting your package is even less.\n\nDoggy doors are not a barrier! I delivered to a customer’s home once and heard the dog barking, but they were inside the home and the front door was closed. I proceeded with the delivery because I didn’t see any way the dog would get to me. As I was finishing the delivery, I saw a flap pop open next to a pile of junk the customer had on their porch and the dog came out after me, barking. It actually tried to bite my leg but didn’t break through my skin or pants. Needless to say, I got away from the dog as soon as possible while the owner started yelling at their dog from inside their home.\n\nI did not have issues with any of the cats I encountered… nor the turkeys. Yes, turkeys. I delivered to a house in a cul-de-sac where there was a pack of roaming turkeys. The male kept me in view the whole time, kept puffing his feathers out and kept gobbling at me. Some drivers might not deal with that or have had a bad experience with such animals. Something to keep in mind.\n\n<b>Don’t get upset if your package is late or delayed</b>\nSo many things can go wrong on a delivery route, including the issues previously discussed. Another reason may be due to weather or a traffic accident. There are so many people who do not seem to care about anyone else when they’re on the road and they don’t have problems crashing into the delivery vans. I had a guy back out of his driveway and scrape the van I was driving while I was parked in the road to make a delivery. The van was not running and was essentially a giant blue box with hazard lights blinking, but the gentlemen decided to tell me how it was my fault he accelerated into the driver’s side door. Situations like that can be much worse and sometimes are. I had coworkers get their vans towed back to the distribution center and some even get hurt. We’re all people and we’re all trying to do our best each day. Rest assured that if your package isn’t delivered when you expect it, it will be delivered.       "body": "I AM NOT A FINANCIAL EXPERT. Please do not take this article as such. This article is written with the honest question of why there is so much conflicting and truly useless advice about cryptocurrencies and their markets.\n\nHow many of you are also wondering just how there can be so many “experts” about the crypto market and how they think their predictions are accurate? Plain and simple, the market is volatile with random events, trade bots, fears, and “expertise.” There’s also new coins being made constantly, which is mind boggling to me. It seems to me that these new coins are made because the creators want to get rich, because their coin is usually:\n\n• Already done by another coin in terms of purpose/utility\n• Has no real application\n• Is not used as hoped\n• Is not backed by a real asset\n\nSo how is it that there are so many articles claiming to know what to do when it comes to investing and expected growth/decline? You may have read about the “weird” activity in the market, which is a prime example that it is not understood.\n\nThe stock market is at least based on a combination of a company’s performance and investors and even that hasn’t been “figured out” and honestly won’t be. People have tried to come up with reliable and predictable formulas in the hopes that they’ll know exactly how to make money. I firmly believe that there are so many variables that it is not reasonably possible to account for all of them, nor do I believe that it would be a good thing. If everyone had a formula to follow, it would impact the market significantly to the point of potential failure. Of course I’m not stating this as an irrefutable fact, but it’s certainly something to think about and consider.\n\nIn my personal experience, it seems that crypto is best suited as a long game rather than a short, although you can certainly make profit playing the short game. It’s well known and documented that the cryptocurrency market is risky and volatile. My advice would be to focus on the proven chains and the coins that have real applications in things such as real estate, gaming, or some other purpose that won’t be going away. Don’t listen to the fear mongering, the ultra hopeful, the quick reads with the aim of a quick buck or popularity, or the flat-out delusional. Do your own homework, have patience, be careful, and don’t get discouraged.\n\nAgain, I AM NOT AN EXPERT.       "body": "We all experience the frustrations that come with interacting with one another sometimes. We even say and do hurtful things because of it. Examples of this are readily available on social media which might even fuel an emotional response from you. There are so many “bad guys” out there and there’s always someone or something to fight. However, I would like to present a thought that you may or may not have had yourself or heard someone say.\n\nNo matter who you come across in life, try to remember: every living being is trying to do what they think is right. That’s all anyone is trying to do in life.\n\nIt doesn’t matter if or who you pray to, the color of your skin, how much money you have, what your accomplishments in life are so far, your political beliefs, where you live, or a whole lot of other things. We really are all in this boat called “Life” together.\n\nI myself am far from perfect and have trouble following the advice that you’re reading right now, but I do try very hard to catch myself in the moments that I’m not compassionate and remind myself when I don’t catch myself. I get frustrated when I feel someone isn’t doing something right, is inconsiderate, is selfish, is ruining something, or many other circumstances. It’s something I have been working on for a long time and I’m trying to have more patience and understanding.\n\nI believe this is important because at the end of the day, <b>we are all human</b>.\n\nTogether, we can accomplish so many beautiful and wonderful things. As someone who has experienced war and violence, I wish that people didn’t have to die or get hurt. I do realize that pain is a part of life and honestly is just as important as happiness, sadness, and other emotions and experiences that come with this experience. That is what makes them all important and meaningful.\n\nPlease, don’t be harsh on yourself if you aren’t compassionate today or most other days. That is part of being human. We are the most imperfect part of this world and I believe that’s the point. I believe that we are stronger together than alone and that we really can always have a better future if we work together.\n\nOur history is filled with repeated tragedies and selfish schemes. Our world today is basically the same, but it doesn’t have to be. We don’t need to steal from one another. We don’t need to hurt one another. We don’t need to deceive one another.\n\nWhat we need now, and always have needed, is <b>love</b>.\n\nLove your family. Love your friends. Love your neighbors. Love total strangers. It's dusk with such an overcast of clouds that everything is coated in a light, somber shade of blue. On either side of this road are fields of dead and neglected grass as far as I can see. The air is still and cold. Everything around me feels as if it had died but somehow stayed to either remind a passerby that it once had life, or perhaps to warn them that they should not be on this road. This is especially true of the occasional tree spotted on the side of this road. They all look so dry and frail that if there was a gust of wind I think they might simply break and fall into pieces. It actually seems to be cruel for them to have gotten to such a state. They must have been neglected for quite some time to be that way, but I haven't seen anyone around for as long as I can remember.\n\nHow long have I been walking? It seems that I have lost track of time. However, I cannot seem to remember when I had started walking. Actually I cannot remember starting at all. What is this place? Why am I here? It seems odd that I only begin to question these things now. A sense of excitement begins to stir within my chest and I don't quite know why. Air rushes into my lungs only to be forced out in my time of apparent panic. I stop walking, for I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong. What is wrong? It seems that I can't answer this question either. The air around me still dead and cold with my mysterious malfunction being the only event to fill the space that is this curious place. Unfortunate that it should be one of panic, or more simply: a crisis. What is this crisis? What is it that I feel? Again these are questions that I cannot answer. This only adds to my hysteria. Why am I alone? Where is everyone? Why is no one here to comfort me? My head hurts and a sharp pain stabs into my ribs. Why does it hurt? What is “it?”\n\nSuddenly I feel a breeze come from behind me. It is soft, gentle, and warm. This is quite welcoming in such a dreadful place. It is soothing. I swear that I can hear a voice in the breeze. I don't recognize it and I cannot even tell if it is from a man or a woman. Perhaps it is coming from me? I hear the faint hint of words but I cannot make sense of them. I must know what it is! It is the only sign of the possibility that I am not alone in this isolative prison.\n\n“Keep going.” That one was clear though still soft. Why does it encourage me so? Does this voice know something that I do not? Am I even hearing a voice or am I imagining it? After all, I cannot even be certain how long I've been walking let alone how I got here. Something tells me that I can trust it though, even if I have my doubts.\n\nI take the advice that I had perceived and begin walking again. I notice that as I begin to move that the breeze continues to gently push from behind me. I take a small comfort in knowing that at least this breeze is present and moving with me when all else seems to be frozen in a state of decay.\n\n_____________________________________________________________________________________________________\n\n\nThis was a story that I had written back in November of 2015 when I was trying to get myself in a better place.       "body": "With so many games being developed with crypto currencies in mind, it seems very difficult to me to find one that is committed to putting out an actual product. Based on what I've seen, though I haven't checked lately, only a couple of projects have been making progress. Projects like Star Atlas and Gods Unchained (which is fully playable now) come to mind, yet I find myself wondering: are there any other PC, blockchain games that are playable that I don't know about?\n\nI will admit that I haven't checked out The Sandbox yet, but I've not heard of it being \"playable.\" To me, if a game is playable, that means that there is an actual objective or goal to complete or work towards and you can fail in this endeavor.\n\nI am very interested in these ideas and the NFTs they introduce, but am also very interested in guidance that anyone could offer.
