      "body": "\"सुन्नुस् त!\" पछाडिबाट एक महिलाको आवाज आयो। म पछाडि फर्किएँ। गालाको छाला चाउरी परेको थियो। उमेरले त्यस्तै पचहत्तर नागेकी होलीन्। उनी मेरो सामु उभिएकी थिइन्। \"हजुरको नाम जीवन शर्मा होइन?\" उन्ले प्रश्न गरिन्। \"हजुर! हो\" मैले जवाफ फर्काएँ। \"हजुर पनि यहाँ\" उन्ले ठटेउली पारामा भनिन्। \"अब उमेरले डाडाँ काटेसी जीवनको सहयात्री भनेकै यही वृद्ध भत्ता त छ। त्यहि लिन आको।\"मैले बोलेँ। अझै चाउरिएका गाला खुम्चाउदै बोलिन्,\"मलाई चिन्नु भो त?\" उन्को प्रश्न थियो। \"सुनेकै बोली हो तर अलिक ठम्याउन सकिन \",मैले भनेँ। ढिलो नगरि उन्ले भनिन्,\"म शुशीला!\" । नाम सुन्ने बित्तिकै खै किन हो मेरो आँखा रसाएर आए। \"यत्रो वर्ष कता थियौ?\",उन्लाई हेर्दै प्रश्न गरेँ। \"आउनु, चिया पिउदै कुरा गरूम्ला\",उन्ले भनिन्। उनिसँगको मेरो परिचय लगभग साठ्ठी बर्ष पहिलेको हो। म अहिले अठहत्तर वर्षको भएँ। उनी र म एउटै बस्तीमा बस्थ्यौँ। उन्को बुवा आर्मीको ठूला मान्छे। गाउँघरमा जम्दार बा भन्थे सबैले। उन्की आमा बारीमा तरकारी फलाएर बेच्नु हुन्थ्यो। बा आमा उनी र उन्को एउटा भाइ । चार जनाको परिवार, सुखी परिवार। \nउनी र म दुवै एउटै स्कुलमा पढ्थ्यौँ। उनी नौ मा पढ्थिन् अनि म दशमा। एउटै गाउँ भएकाले स्कुल सँगै जाने आउने गरथ्यौँ। बाटोमा आउँदा जादा निकै कुराकानि हुन्थ्यो हाम्रो। समय बित्दै गयो। बिस्तारै उनी प्रति म आकर्षीत हुन थालेँ। ती स्कुल जादाँको कुराकानी सम्झिदै रमाउन थालेँ। एकोहोरोपना बढ्दै गयो। उनी सँग छुट्टिएपछि फेरि स्कुल जाने बेला कति खेर हुन्छ भन्ने छटपटी रहिरहन्थ्यो। तर मैले उनलाई प्रस्ताव राख्या थिइन। मलाइ कता कता डर लाग्थ्यो। कतै उन्ले नराम्रो सोचिन् भनेँ। त्यसैले भनिन पनि। पढाइ चल्दै थ्यो। उन्ले पनि एस्.एल्.सी दिइन्। म एघारमा पढ्दै थिएँ। \nकेहि दिन पछि को कुरा हो। म कलेजबाट घर फर्कदै थिएँ। जम्दार बा र मेरा बा कुरा गर्दै हुनुहुन्थ्यो। जम्दार बा को जागीर अन्तै सरूवा भएछ। यो सुन्दा मन भारी भयो । शुशीला अब गाउँ छोडेर जाने भइन् भन्ने कुरा मात्र मस्तिस्कमा नाचिरहे । मन पिरलोइएकोले गर्दा त्यो दिन खिन्नतामै बित्यो। \nनभन्दै उनीहरू जाने दिन नी आयो। उनी गइन्। मलाइ एक्लै छोडेर गइन्। थाहा छैन उनी पनि मलाइ माया गर्थीन् कि गर्दिन थिइन्।\n\"चिया सेलाइ सक्यो, पिउने हैन!\"। उन्को बोली सुनेर म झस्किएँ। \"कस्तो अचम्म लागिरहेको छ। यत्रो वर्षपछि पनि भेट हुदो रहेछ\", उन्ले आचर्यचकित मुद्रामा भनिन्। \"दैवको संयोगले गर्दा हामी भेट भयौँ\",मैले भनेँ। \"अनि छोरा छोरी कति छन् नी?\",\"दुइ भाइ छोरा छन्\",मैले भनेँ। \"नातिनातिना नी\"। \"जेठाको एउटा छोरा छ अनि कान्छाको दुइ बहिनी छोरी\"। \"अनि तिम्रो?\",मैले सोधेँ। \"एउटा छोरा अनि एउटी छोरी\"। \"छोराको एउटि छोरी छे अनि छोरीको दुइटा छोरा\",उन्ले भनिन्। अनि यस्तै उस्तै कुरा भए बिगतका धेरैबेरसम्म। उन्ले मेरो राम्रो पक्ष बयान गरिन्। मैले नि उन्को। हामी हास्यौ पनि। बुढेसकालको हँसाइ । चाउरीएका गालाले जीवन पाए। समय बित्यो।\nक्षितिजमा घाम लुक्नै लागेछ। उनि पनि जाने तर्खरमा लागिन्। \" फेरि भत्ता लिन आउँदा भेटुम्ला\",उन्ले भनिन्। \"यो हाम्रो अन्तिम भेट हो। छोराले अर्कै ठाउँ घर बनाएको छ। अब उतै जाने।\",मनभारि पार्दै भनेँ। \"ए\",उन्ले यति मात्र भनिन्। \nचियाको पैसा मैले तिरेँ। हामी त्यहाँबाट छुट्टियौँ।उनि देव्रे लागिन् अनि म दाइने। पर पुगी यसो फर्की हेरेँ उनि गइरहेकि थिइन्। मनमा भने एकतर्फ पिडा अनि अर्को तर्फ खुशी लागिराथ्यो। बिगतको सम्झनाले पिडा दियो भनेँ उन्को सफल जीवनले खुशी। दुवै विच द्वन्द भयो। आखिर अन्त्यमा खुशीकै जीत भयो। अनि बुढेसकालिय मुस्कान छर्न चाउरीएका गालाले पनि कन्जुस्याइँ गरेनन्।।\n@lapenands",

      "body": "वर्षा यामको समयमा हरियो साग नपाए पछी तातो झोल खानको लागि मासु पसलबाट एक केजी मासु किनेँ । झरी अलिक रोकिएकाले छाता खोलेर ओड्ने मनसायलाइ थातीँ राखि म घरतर्फ लागेँ। हिड्दै थिएँ अचानक एउटा आवाज सुनेँ। \n\"ए शीतल!\" \nपछाडी फर्केर हेरेँ। एउटा मान्छेले आफ्नी श्रीमतीलाई बोलाएको रहेछ। 'शीतल' यो नामसँग म निकै परिचित छु। उनी मेरै बस्तीमा बस्थीन्। उन्को परिवार दुईचार वर्ष पहिले पहाडबाट बसाइ सरेर आएका थिए। उन्का बा आर्मीको हवल्दार । पेन्सन पाकेकाले बुढा घरकै काममा ब्यस्त हुन्थे। उन्की आमा सानो तिनो किराना पसल गर्नु हुन्थ्यो।\nछोरी छोरी तीन बहिनी ।तीन बहिनी मध्ये उनी कान्छी । ठिक्कको कद, अलिक पातली, गहुँगोरी अनि गाजलु आखाँ । शीतल साच्चै शीतल थिइन्। मेकअपको नाममा गाजल बाहेक केही लाउदिन थिन्। कुर्तासरूवालमा त बिछट्टै राम्री देखिन्थी उनी। बोली त कोहीलीको भन्दा मिठो। यहि बानीले त मेरो मन तानेकी थिन् उन्ले। \nउनी 10 कक्षामा पढ्थिन् । म 12 मा। उन्को र मेरो स्कुल एउटै थियो। म कलेजबाट फर्किदा उनि स्कुल जादै गरेकी हुन्थिन् । एउटै बस्तिमा बस्ने भएकाले उनलाई बेला बेला जीस्काइरहन्थे। उनि भने रातोपिरो हुन्थिन्। बिस्तारै समय बित्यो। म 12 सकेर बीबीएस् पढ्न थालेँ। उन्ले पनि एस्.एल्.सी पास गरेर 11 पढ्न थालीन्। उन्को र मेरो बुबाको राम्रो हिमचिम् भएकाले बेला बेला हवल्दार काकाले शीतललाइ पनी सिकाइदेउ है बाबु भन्नु हुन्थ्यो। म खुशीले भित्र भित्रै रमाउँथे। \nएकदिन उन्को मा गएँ। आन्टिले बाबु आउनुभएछ भनेर चिया बनाउन थाल्नु भयो। एता उती नजर डुलाएँ। उन्लाई कतै देखिन। एकछिन पछि कपाल लर्काउदै उनी आइन्। गमलाको फूलमा पानी हाल्न गएकी रैछिन्। आन्टिले चिया लिएर दिनु भयो। चिया खादै गर्दा आन्टीले पढाइको विषयमा कुरा गर्नु भयो। \" यस्लाइ 12 सकेर यतै पढ भनेको , खाली बाहिर जान्छु उतै पढ्छु भन्छे। हामीले भनेको मान्दिन । बरू बाबुले यसो सम्झाइदेउन।\" आन्टिले कुरा राख्नु भो। \" ठिकै छ त आन्टी, विदेशमा पढ्नु भनेको राम्रै हो त। ठूला विश्वविध्यालय छन्। पढाइ राम्रो हुन्छ।\" एक पढे लेखेको केटा भएको हिसाबले मन भारी पार्दै भनेँ।\"खै बाबु! अचेलका केटाकेटी निकै बाठा भैसके। उबेला आफूले पढ्न पाइएन । फेरि आज सम्म यस्लाइ घर बाहिर पनि पठाएको छैन।\" भन्दै आन्टिले दुःख पोख्नु भो। म आमाको मायालाइ बुझ्न सक्थेँ। म केही बोलीन । केही हिसाब सिकाएर त्याहाँ बाट निक्लेँ।\nदिनहरू बित्दै गए। 12 को परिक्षामा उनी राम्रो अङ्कमा पास भइन् । दुइचार दिनमा विदेश जाने सम्पूर्ण प्रतिक्रिया मिलाउन काठमाडौं गइन्। फर्के पछि मैले सोधेँ \"शीतल, तिमी साच्चीकै जानै लागेको हौ र!\"। उन्को जवाफ केही आएन।\nसमय बित्यो । उन्को भिजा लागेछ र उड्ने दिन पनि आयो।एकातिर अमेरिका जाने भएर एकदम खुशी थिइन् उनि । अर्कातिर घरपरिवारसँगको बिछोडको पीडा पनि उन्को आँखामा प्रस्ट झल्किन्थ्यो।\nसबै सँग विदा भएर म सामु आइन।\" जान्छु ल! ख्याल राख्नु\" उन्ले जाने बेला बोलेको अन्तीम् वाक्य। म एक्कासी भावुक भएर आएँ । तै पनि सम्हालिएर उन्लाई बिदा गरे। उनि गइन् । \nकेही समयपछि आकाशमा हवाइजहाज उड्यो। लाग्यो उनि त्यहि जहाजमा गइन्। अनि म आफ्नो घर फर्केँ।\nघरपुगेर टिभी खोलेर फूटबल हेर्दै बसेँ। मन भारी भएकाले केहि गर्न मन लागिरहेको थिएन। च्यानल पनि कति एउटै हेर्नु भनेर चेन्ज गरेँ। त्यही बेला बी.बी.सी मा प्लेन दुर्घटना भएको समाचार आयो। पत्याउनै सकिन। हत्तपत्त बाहिर गएँ। उन्को घरमा रूवाबासी चलिराथ्यो। जुन प्लेनमा उनी चढेकी थिइन् त्यो दुर्घटनामा परेछ। कसैले कुरा गर्दै थिए। यो सुन्ना साथ मैले केही सोच्नै सकिन । हजारौँ तिरले एक साथ रोपे जस्तो लाग्यो। जङ्गली जनावरले चिथोर्न थाले जस्तो। सम्हालिनै गाह्रो पर्यो। उन्को त्यो अबोध अनुहार आँखामा झल्झली नाचे। म भित्र भित्रै रोएँ।\n\"दाइ! प्लास्टिक फुटेछ। \" म झसङ्ग भए। आँखाबाट आँसु खसेछ। पुछेँ। अनि पछाडी फर्किएँ । एउटा भाइले मलाई भन्दै रैछ। प्लास्टिक सम्हाल्न पनि गाह्रो भो। त्यही पनि बल्ल तल्ल घर पुगेँ। बिगतको सम्झनाले पनि त्यो मासु खान मन लागेन। मिल्काइदेँ एक कुनातिर।।\n@lapenands",

      "body": "Over 2,000 of the country's community-managed schools, regarded by education experts as the best model for quality schooling in rural areas, are coming under immense political pressure both from the Maoists - who have been waging an armed rebellion against the state for the last 10 years - and the Nepal National Teachers' Association (NNTA), a union of 80,000 government school teachers.Many poor children in rural areas have a chance to get a quality education in community schools. Pressure from Maoists on these schools has been affecting the education of thousands of children in remote areas\nAccording to reports by local government education offices in rural areas, a large number of community-based schools are being routinely locked up or their classes disrupted.\n\nSince 2003, with financial support from the World Bank, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has been transferring the management responsibilities of public schools to local communities, comprising of parents, community leaders and teachers. The government provides a grant of US $1,500 to each community-managed school.\n\nUnder its Community School Support Programme (CSSP), the MoE, in a bid to make schools independent from government control while improving school efficiency, has handed over 2,292 schools to communities in 62 of the 75 districts in the Himalayan kingdom.\n\nAdditionally, they have been given the authority to supervise, as well as to hire and suspend, those teachers who neglect their duties or stay absent from class for long periods of time.\n\nThe United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) believes that effort has proved successful in enrolling and keeping more children in village schools, where according to the MoE, over 4 million of Nepal's children under 15 years of age are still not going to school. So far only 6 million, or 82 percent, of children are currently enrolled at the primary school level.But due to inefficient and poor quality public education, less than 67 percent of the children make it to grade five, while less than a third of primary school students manage to enter lower secondary schools.
