| title | What if Ron Paul were anonymous? Well, he is… |
| body | https://kurtwallace.podbean.com/e/the-magnificent-obsession-of-ron-paul-1489503605/ In Minnesota, during the "Rally for the Republic" in September 2008 was the first time I met and interviewed Ron Paul. After signing over 1,200 books for supporters, he was a bit exhausted. Yet, he graciously sat down with me to answer questions. He didn't know me and he was initially apprehensive, but as we chatted for this exclusive live BreaktheMatrix.com broadcast Dr. Paul began to relax . He was drinking iced tea, laughing and sharing his views about his relationship to this new and exhilarating rEVOLution. Being from the South, I had a sense of sitting on the front porch having a meaningful conversation with a close friend. <a href="http://kurtwallace.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/MemyRP.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-110" src="http://kurtwallace.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/MemyRP-300x208.jpg" alt="Ron Paul at Rally for the Republic" width="300" height="208" /></a> After this experience something pushed me to try NOT interviewing Dr. Paul during most of my career as a talk show host on radio and podcast. Especially, while he was running for POTUS. I even launched and hosted <em>Daily Paul Radio</em>, thanks to <a href="http://popularliberty.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michael Nystrom</a>, yet I never asked Dr. Paul for an interview. For what purpose I'd say to myself, "Why would you want to interview him? To discuss his campaign, his positions, his ideas? Were we not already hearing that in speeches, interviews and all the spontaneous content on the web? He's been saying the same things for three decades!" From that interview in 2008 I've realized that what made him unusual wasn't just manifested externally through his consistent voting record and willingness to say what most wouldn't dare. The outward expression reflected something underneath that seemingly couldn't be intellectualized. That's what I wanted to find out about <em>Ron Paul</em>. How was it that just being himself ignited the most impactful political movement of my lifetime? What is his "himself"? This gave purpose to an interview premise: the idea of learning the intrinsic way he sees himself and his relationship to the rest of the world. What I've observed about Dr. Paul is his resistance to self promotion or taking the credit and never personally attacking others on any level. A year ago we did an interview for Rare.us where Dr. Paul began to touch on some of these elements by saying, <a href="http://kurtwallace.com/2014/08/16/ron-paul-i-think-were-all-born-libertarians/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">"I think we are all born libertarians"</a>. <a href="http://kurtwallace.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/meandron.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-118 alignleft" src="http://kurtwallace.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/meandron-300x213.jpg" alt="meandron" width="300" height="213" /></a> To parlay off of those Rare podcasts Dr. Paul joined me last month on <em>The Flow with Kurt Wallace</em> to discuss his new book, <em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Swords-into-Plowshares-Ron-Paul/dp/0996426507" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Swords into Plowshares</a>,</em> in which he reveals intensely personal stories of himself. In <em>The Flow</em> interview (posted below as "The Magnificent Obsession of Ron Paul") he discusses how war is tailored to special interests and propaganda versus the peaceful nature of people. He reveals why he didn't really want to be president, yet worked harder than his opponents to get elected. Dr. Paul, also, talked about practicing medicine, medical philanthropy and what it was like for him to deliver babies. He explains why the power of voluntary answers and free markets serve the benefits of society. Most interesting was the special moment when Dr. Paul shared why he believes in doing things from the principle of anonymity. He said, "If you do it from the heart and you're expecting a lot of praise then you're sort of charging something for it." He then refers to one of his favorite examples, a book/film called <em>Magnificent Obsession</em>. He also talked about what he's most proud of in his son, Rand Paul -- and it has nothing to do with politics. I believe that the richness of Dr. Paul isn't simply in the actions he's taken. Those are specific ways to observe the outward manifestation of understanding him in relationship to the world. They're demonstrations of how we should respect each other's perspective yet not be afraid to point out the purity in being true to ourselves by way of libertarian principles. What I ultimately got from this interview was that Dr. Paul reveals more about himself by what he didn't say - his expression of being anonymous or more specifically absence of ego. He is famous. But, he (himself) doesn't feel the fame of "Ron Paul" as he knows that he's a messenger of liberty and not the message. The fame is merely a tool to spread that message. <em>The Flow with Kurt Wallace</em> is about exploring people and who they are rather than what they've done. But, during this interview I realized that there is nothing that we need to know about Ron Paul, other than he practices anonymity. |

But, during this interview I realized that there is nothing that we need to know about Ron Paul, other than he practices anonymity. |

| body | The Top Three Bitcoin Challenges Revealed, And How Cold Storage Coins™ Puts Two Of Them On Ice. Many people agree Bitcoin is risky business. Sure, we’ve all heard those inspiring stories about folks winning big with Bitcoin, and becoming instant millionaires. But equally, we’re well aware of the stories of those who lose their digital fortune to theft, acts of God, or general carelessness. And between highly volatile markets, opportunistic hackers, and general human error, it’s not surprising to hear people say, “It’s just not worth the effort”. While it is true Bitcoin investment comes with risk, it is also true that much of the risk you hear about is easily avoided by following some bear basics. So today I’m revealing the top three risks you need to know and how to eliminate two of them completely so Bitcoin is easy to own. Bitcoin Challenge #1: Security When people think of Bitcoin security, top of mind are online hackers. But security threats don’t just stop there, like a swarm of angry bees, they can follow you offline too. Storing Bitcoin in an online hot wallet does make you a target for hackers. And even if the company hosting your wallet has the best security ever, hackers can get to you in other ways. Researchers from Positive Technologies demonstrated this by showing a weakness in our common SMS 2-Step Verification system. It was unbearable to watch how easily the wallet was hacked. Hot wallets, if stored in an exchange are also subject to security risk if the exchange suddenly crashes, or goes out of business. Because when they go, any Bitcoin and Fiat currency you had stored with them disappears too. To solve the online wallet risk investors choose offline cold storage, like a hard drive, paper wallet, plastic card or USB. But these also come with security risks. It’s common to see fortunes disappear when these devices are damaged, or malfunction. And some are even carelessly thrown out with the trash. Bitcoin Challenge #2: Accessibility A Bitcoin wallet without its private key is like watching a million dollars cash fall down a storm drain and float out to sea. The currency still exists, but you will never access it. It is estimated that 25% of all allocated Bitcoin to date, has been ‘lost’ due to inaccessibility. It can be unnerving thinking about the accessibility risk. With every great solution you come up with, there’s still another thing that could go wrong. Photographing your codes and storing them as an image is the same type of bad idea as making a word document. Once anything is digitized, hackers can find it. Storing codes offline is far more secure, but the network risk is converted to hardware risk. Hard drives can malfunction, USB’s can be thrown away, paper can burn and memories about where you stored the codes can fade. And while keeping multiple copies is a good idea, it also increases your risk of forgetting where one copy is, and someone else conveniently finding it. And of course, there’s little chance of remembearing it off the top of your head. Bitcoin Challenge #3: Volatility At the time of writing, Bitcoin is valued at $7100. Two days earlier it reached an all time high of $7600, while less than 30 days ago it was sitting at a record high of $5300. In the 12 month period from July 2010, Bitcoin’s value increased by $30.92. In the last 12 months, the value increased by $7000. And by the time you read this, the value will have surged again, for better or worse. So if you haven’t noticed, it’s a volatile market out there. Aside from the obvious risk of losing everything in an earth-shattering crash, market volatility also opens up additional risks. A run on your exchange could send it bust, or at the least, a long wait for payouts. But like any investment market – these risks are expected. And when you store your investment on a Cold Storage Coin™, volatility will be the only risk you have to face. Put The Risk On Ice With Cold Storage Coins™ Professional crypto-experts agree, the most secure way to hold Bitcoin is with a Cold Storage Coin™, otherwise known as Physical Bitcoin. And while it won’t stop a volatile market, it does prevent all network security and accessibility risks. How Cold Storage Coins™ Eliminate Security And Accessibility Risk. Crafted from .999 fine copper, silver and gold, Cold Storage Coins™ have three values - the value of the wallet embedded on the coin, the value of the metal itself, and the value of the collectible coin. Your wallet address and private key are both permanently etched on the surface of the coin. The benefits are obvious. As an offline cold wallet it is safe from hackers and exchange issues Crafted from noble metals, it is damage resistant & corrosion proof With its etched QR code, there is no hard drive circuitry to malfunction As a collectible it won’t be tossed away in the trash Laser etched keys and IDs mean you’ll never forget how to access your wallet Cold Storage Coins™ are so robust, they can even withstand up to 30% defacing. But of course they’re not idiot proof, and attacking them with a jackhammer isn’t a wise investment strategy. Making Access Easier, For Everyone. Being easy to use, secure and collectible, a Cold Storage Coin™ doesn’t only avoid accessibility risk, but also increases access to those who are new to Crypto, and anyone who wants to be paid in Bitcoin, but doesn’t want the risk or trouble of a hot wallet. Imagine gifting a family member or friend a copper coin pre-loaded with Bitcoin. Just like a store gift card they can spend it as currency; like a small piece of land, they can hold it for profit; and like a digital money box, they can top it up over time. And if you pay attention to top speculators, it’s not ridiculous to imagine $700 Bitcoin (0.01BTC) gifted to a newborn today, might be worth $5,000 on their first day of school. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of physically holding real Bitcoin in your hand. And by removing risk, and increasing access through Cold Storage Coins™ that mysterious computer-coded currency is now the easiest way to own Bitcoin. https://coldstoragecoins.com/blogs/news/put-bitcoin-risks-on-ice |

| title | Overstock.com CEO attacks Krugman: “Hopefully Bitcoin will destroy central banking” |
| body | My interview with Patrick Byrne of Overstock.com several years ago. https://kurtwallace.podbean.com/e/overstockcom-ceo-attacks-krugman-%E2%80%9Chopefully-bitcoin-will-destroy-central-banking%E2%80%9D/ Byrne “[Krugman] went crazy about a decade ago, more than a decade.” After I asked him about Krugman's statements on Bitcoin Patrick said, “Well hopefully it will do exactly what Krugman said and destroy it.” Patrick Byrne: You got to remember Krugman did some great work before he went crazy. But he went crazy about a decade ago, more than a decade. Anyways, I’m not speaking of just the Enron thing but assume your listeners know that on Wall Street he’s called Dr. Enron or Professor Enron because Krugman took a I think it was a $50,000 honorarium to speak to Enron people and very shortly after Enron turned into Chernobyl and Krugman wrote an op-ed in the I think it was New York times or maybe Wall Street Journal defending Enron but without disclosing his $50,000 honorarium highly unethical. But setting that aside even though Krugman gotta remember these guys old wine new bottles. People like Krugman are all about saying that the market fails therefore you need more government, freedom fails therefore you need more control. That's even his academic work which has a lot to do with past dependencies and market failures. The reason this people want to explore and document and I believe exaggerate the tendency of the market. They never heard examine government failures it’s all about examining market failures. That’s his academic work and he basically wanted to be a Secretary of the Treasury or something on a council economic advisors. He never got that job and has made up for it by becoming more and more vitriolic, writing stuff that no economist I mean there are open letters from economists, like Harvard who are saying Krugman, you should stop calling yourself an economist. His policy ranting has just gotten so extreme it’s such a clear defense of Kaynesian magic money tree theory with no ties to reality that he has really even offended people within his profession so the fact that he doesn’t like Bitcoin is a really…a.. of course he doesn’t like it, he believes in unlimited government and if you believe in unlimited government you don’t want handcuff government by introducing a currency that it cannot make up with a pen stroke. But as Jefferson said free government is founded in jealousy and not in confidence because it’s jealousy which makes us tie down, bind down governments with constitutions. He doesn’t want government to be bound and he wants unlimited government and therefore you don't want currency that Ben Bernanke or Jenet Yellen can just create once she feels that she need to goose the economy. Kurt Wallace: Now, Krugman said that Bitcoin is evil is his article he points to a gentleman– Patrick Byrne: He actually used that word Bitcoin is evil? Kurt Wallace: His article title is “ Bitcoin is evil” and he quotes Charlie Stross saying that bitcoin looks like it was designed as a weapon intended to damage central banking. Money issuing banks with libertarian political agenda in mind to damage states ability to collect tax and monitor their citizens’ financial transactions. What type of impact do you think Bitcoin will have on central banking? Patrick Byrne: Well hopefully it will do exactly what Krugman said and destroy it. Let me remind you that the central banking is.. we laugh at Soviet Union. We old timers look back and laugh at this complex society tried to run with $23 million prices set by some Mandarins and building in Moscow. And they really did they tried to run the whole society they had great big ledger books and they did all this Marxian accounting and tried to run society with prices being set by some Mandarins 23 million prices. And how visible was that to us? And yet here the most important price our civilization faces is the price at which we discount the future against the present which is to say interest rate and in a case of that price that overwhelmingly important price that decides our own future. That price is being set by central planners just like Soviet Union being set by central planners at a central bank called the Federal Reserve. Milton Friedman was asked in 1992 the Minneapolis Federal Reserve did their magazine interview with Friedman with a reporter ask him what’s the most issue facing America. And Milton Friedman said the most important issue facing America is how do we get rid of you the Federal Reserve and had a horrible track record and it never right and they missed all the big calls and they missed all the big turns. Their original function was because there were bank runs but the F.D.I.C. come along and probably does a better job on preventing bank runs by guaranteeing the deposits. It caused the Great Depression according to Friedman and Schwartz by contracting the money supply by a third and starving the economy just when it should have been provided liquidity. Now we had so many mistakes they’ve made horrible track record but in general it’s an institutional problem it’s not gonna get better with smarter people they are smarter people the people there Bernanke and Yellen are really really smart people. It’s institutional design when you have central planning doesn’t matter how smart you make the planners. You can’t, central planning doesn’t work so one could only hope that Bitcoin will do some of these things that Krugman finds evil like destroy the Central bank but this is what so crazy about Krugman. He should remember the goal isn’t having a Central Bank the goal is we’re all trying to find what institution is allow us to cooperate with each other and some of those institutions can be price based and some government based. But he’s confused the means with the purpose. The purpose isn’t to have a central bank, the purpose is for the central bank to accomplish something which it has a history of not accomplishing and now can be accomplish by somebody else and in fact and the central bank has a history of preventing the accomplishment of stable prices in it’s 100 year history and we’re a 100 years into the history of the Federal Reserve the dollar has lost 98% of their value. So how have they done on the mandate of maintaining stable prices in such? It’s just got a horrible – if they were a business they would have been out of business long ago cause they never get anything right. Kurt Wallace: Dr. Patrick Byrne Overstock.com now accepting Bitcoin. Thank you for spending some time with us on Rare. Patrick Byrne: Thank you Kurt, my honor. |

She explains a concept of attachment levels within relationships and how that shapes the way people interact. She then shares how her grandmother has influenced her life. She breaks down the importance of Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin from the standpoint of educating the general public. Moroz also discusses how she was inspired as a musician to explore and utilize her talents to popularize liberty. We talk about her spirituality and she make a case for why she supports the release of her friend Ross Ulbricht (Dread Pirate Roberts founder of Silk Road) and how he was never given a fair trial.</p> <p>This is an exclusive interview you won’t hear anywhere else!</p> <p><a href="http://veritasradionetwork.com/tatiana-moroz-authentic-nature-of-music-bitcoin-and-anarchy/"><strong>Click here to listen</strong></a></p> </html> |
