| title | The Real Problem with Stablecoins |
| body |

Most people seek stability, whether it is in their career, finances, or health. With regards to personal well-being, volatility of any kind disturbs the peace of mind, as it creates uncertainty, something we as humans are naturally inclined to dislike. Rather we tend to favor a peaceful ride. While we were trapped in this reality, Bitcoin came along and flipped everything upside down. Bitcoin and the cryptocurrencies that followed in its footsteps ushered in an era of wild volatility. No longer did we seek stability. Rather, extreme price fluctuations stirred something new in the hearts of investors all around the world, who leaped on the cryptocurrency bandwagon in hopes of multiplying their wealth. Some made it while others just missed the train to riches and are still awaiting a recovery of the market. Whatever, the outcome, everyone from their late teens to their eighties heartily hopped on the perilous rollercoaster of cryptocurrencies. While many were optimistic, some were more critical. They denounced cryptocurrencies as being no different than gambling. Prices soaring and tumbling within a matter of minutes is wonderful for gamblers, but it doesn't help with adoption, which requires a degree of stability. People soon realized that the adoption we prayed for won't happen unless volatility is reduced drastically. When it appeared as though the chances of adoption were slowly sinking in the quicksand of instability, stablecoins came to the rescue. Stablecoins, with their stable prices, would expedite adoption of cryptocurrencies as a medium of exchange. People could buy and sell goods, transfer money, and protect their assets in times of market uncertainty with stablecoins. Thus, one could argue that stablecoins rekindled the belief that major worldwide cryptocurrency adoption could happen sooner rather than later. And this is good news for everyone. But for the investor, adoption must be accompanied by price increase. After all, we spend hours researching the next "to the moon" cryptocurrency, and with much contemplation, we invest our hard-earned money expecting a return, not merely adoption. This is reality, and I'm not saying that it's bad. Also a reality is the perception of stablecoins. The word "stable" is disconcerting to a cryptocurrency investor, for whom stability in other aspects of life is desired, but stability of a coin is equivalent to a wasted investment. If one dollar is always going to be one dollar, why should I buy crypto? I'd rather save myself the time and money by sticking with fiat.
Enter Xank.

Xank is a cryptocurrency that fluctuates in price but simultaneously allows for stable pay functionality. Like most cryptocurrencies, Xank can move upwards in price, and it can also drop like a rock in price. The market decides on how much a Xank coin is worth. Price stability is achieved when parties choose to transfer Xank coins via the Stable Pay mechanism, an innovative coin transfer option that ensures stability in price for the parties involved. Because we have Stable Pay, merchants can receive Xank as a payment option without worrying about the future value of the coin. Xank is a stablecoin with investment value, and you can learn more about it at xank.io. Be sure to check it out! |

| title | Lessons Learned from BTS's United Nations Speech |
| body | Echoing through the chambers of the United Nations, the words of the 24-year-old Kpop idol, Namjoon Kim, known as RM of BTS, touched the hearts of millions worldwide, with headlines of this historic moment filling the pages of Google. As I watched the video from beginning to end, I immediately felt motivated in a many number of ways. To be frank, in my pride, I never imagined a Kpop idol could speak to my heart. Well, RM, you just did. Here are my takeaways.
1. We all have our faults, and that’s okay

***“Today, I am who I am with all of my faults and my mistakes… these faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life.”***
Too often, I find myself in a state of despondency over the errors that I committed yesterday, and I think we can all relate to this. In elementary school, I walked away dejected after misspelling a word at the regional spelling bee. In high school, I missed the final shot to cost my team the win. In college, I performed poorly on an important exam. Did all these events suck? They sure did. I remember feeling stupid, hopeless, and lacking in confidence when I came to realize my shortcomings. Then, I began to doubt myself and my future. Will I ever be good enough? Will I ever make something of myself? Yes, this is how I reacted when I incorrectly put together the letters that formed the word “acquaintance” (I spelled it as acquantance as a 5th grader participating in the competition). While I was hurting during different points of my life due to my imperfections, I can confidently say that I am a better person because of these flaws. Missing the last three-pointer as the clock winded down to zero motivated me to practice shooting baskets. Failing an exam pushed me to study harder and more efficiently. I know all of you can recount a moment of deep sorrow that has molded you into a better person. Maybe that’s what RM meant when he talked about faults and mistakes making up bright stars in the constellation of his life. Each mistake glows as a shining star when you became a more enlightened person, and when you connect the stars, you end up with a complete story in the shape of your own constellation.
2. Dream Big

***“I was just an ordinary boy.”***
No one is born extraordinary, although we are all incredibly extraordinary as individual human beings. None of us are born as idols or athletes or inventors or lawyers. It is only through imagination, effort, motivation, and luck, all of which are stirred in the cauldron of our lives to produce magic, that we can convert our dreams into reality. I believe that’s the story that RM and the other BTS members are telling. I understand not all of us are fortunate enough to dream of greatness, as some of us are constrained by the harsh realities that leave no time and leisure for dreaming. I truly sympathize with those of you who are in this plight. But for those of us who are capable of dreaming, I urge you to do so. Do you think you are merely an ordinary person? If you think so, you are right. There’s nothing special that distinguishes you from your friend next door. But set a goal, discipline yourself, and strive towards excellence, and you will be extraordinary. Dream big. The boy from Ilsan, South Korea did and look where he’s standing right now.

Source: https://toptechnewz.com/the-bts-delivers-an-inspiring-speech-to-youth-on-the-united-nations-discover-your-voice-end-up/

3. Love Yourself

***“I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for who I hope to be.”***
For me, loving one’s self has two components: to truly accept who you are and to change who you are for the better. Addressing the first notion, I used to view myself as unworthy, especially when I compared myself with others. Some externality would trigger a reaction, and a wave of uncertainty and self-doubt would flood every corner of my heart. Why am I like this? Why can’t I be like that person? I learned that we blindly walk into a pit of quicksand when we start comparing ourselves to others. Are you consumed by jealousy when you see that beautiful model on Instagram who’s sipping on expensive champagne in the back of a Bentley? Are you feeling worthless because you are not living that life? You shouldn’t, because there will always be someone who is prettier than you, smarter than you, and wealthier than you. Instead, reflect on your life, be grateful for your blessings, and dream of a better you. I’m a firm believer in self-transformation as a key indicator of self-love. In modern times, one’s faults, no matter how unhealthy they are, are lauded as virtue and righteousness. Consequently, youngsters all around the world are hypersensitive to criticism and unwilling to change for the better, constantly arming themselves with the mentality of “I’m perfect — how dare you challenge me?” Let’s face it. We can loves ourselves for who we are, but accepting ourselves also comes with the responsibility of acknowledging our blemishes. I’ve seen people trapped in a constant state of drunkenness and health failure, people who justify their actions by saying, “This is who I am.” It’s one thing to accept yourself as a human being with inherent characteristics, and it’s another to live recklessly because you are apparently “born this way.” Love yourself, and you will be willing to change. A powerful message was broadcast to the world on this September day. It is my wish that you listen to RM’s speech, digest his words, and reach your own conclusions to become a better you. For me personally, I am going to let my faults shape me into a better person who dreams big and loves himself with an attitude of humility. |

| body | They say don’t go in, or you’ll never come out. Of the cursed abyss, where no echo of hope sounds. But greed got the best of me, and I entered the damned dungeon. To slay and conquer the foul fiend, to retrieve the loot, I plunged in. Therein darkness hovered and evil loomed. My eyes uncertain, feet sloshing in damp mud - frightened yet determined, onward I resumed, when my eyes caught a glimmer, could it be real or a dud? I inched closer to the shining metal, could it be fools gold, perhaps? I now stood before the heap whilst I trembled, “It is real… it is real…” I muttered with a gasp. There it was, alas, the golden goblet, filled to the brim with coins to set me free. No time to revel in its form so splendid, I grasped the cup and turned to swiftly flee, There was no sign of the legendary beast, he must be fast asleep in the winter cold. Twas my fortune indeed - I would not die but live to an age of old! I darted past a rotting corpse, pitying the weak hands that had fallen. Nearing the light I waved to my noble horse, the steed always faithful to my calling. Ten, nine, eight more dashes remained, til prosperity and comfort at last! I’ve awaited this triumph and gain, in a few steps, I’ll be free to prance! But from the shadows emerged a black ghoul, 10 feet tall, teeth like daggers, paws equipped. Upright between me and my newfound life as it drooled, crimson red were its eyes in the cave so dimly lit. A million, unhelping thoughts raced through my mind, Were I to die? Or were I to carry on? In that moment, I bolted, like a cognizant slaughterhouse swine, To the doors of freedom, where a new life would surely dawn. Fear had granted me superhuman speed, The bear panicked as he saw me escape with his prize. A few more steps, and I would be free indeed, I made it! Health and prosperity were both mine. There I was at the finish line when I felt a strange tingle. The bear had swiped its murderous paw at my back. With a loud cry, I surrendered the prize to its owner of evil. In terrible pain, I gathered strength to scurry to my furry cab. Though injured I possessed the strength to zoom away. And as I rode, I glanced back to where the old grizzly ruled. Its crimson eyes, fixed on me they seemed to say, “These riches will never be yours, so be gone for good, Mr. Bull.” |

| title | Can Xank Lead the Way for Mass Adoption? |
| body |

Adoption of new technologies takes time. Projects built on emerging technologies must undergo trial and error until they fit the pieces together for usage by the masses. Along the way, some projects may fail. Some may come up with improvements. Eventually, adoption happens.
What is Required for Adoption?
Blockchain technology has come a long way since Bitcoin was first released ten years ago. As the grandfather of blockchain, Bitcoin reintroduced the concept of decentralization, and it paved the way for a decentralized world. However, adoption requires other checkboxes to be ticked. Xank’s co-founder Ryan Kim believes that cryptocurrencies with these four features will set the stage for adoption.
1. Stability
Price volatility discourages merchants from accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. If I sell a product for a cryptocurrency that is worth 20 US dollars today but could be worth 10 dollars tomorrow, how can I sleep knowing that I haven’t lost money? Price stability must be achieved in one way or another for us to see mass adoption.
2. Scalability
Can a network scale to handle transactions? Imagine paying for a cup of tea with crypto. You make the payment, but you’re waiting for minutes for the transaction to go through. Meanwhile, people standing behind in line are exhibiting signs of frustration. If a network is not scalable and cannot make transactions go through quickly, people will stick with fiat currencies, not cryptocurrencies. Therefore, cryptocurrencies must prove that they are scalable.
3. Privacy
A cryptocurrency must give users a certain level of anonymity. In a centralized system, you the sender, the receiver, and a trusted third party are the only owns to know about a transaction. If a cryptocurrency network does not ensure that information is private, people will be reluctant to be a part of the network.
4. Decentralization
Decentralization is the absence of a central authority in handling transactions between users and in achieving network consensus. Will third parties, such as governments and stakeholders, intervene in the operation of a network? If the answer is yes, then what distinguishes cryptocurrencies from fiat currencies? Why not use US dollars or Korean Won or Russian rubles. Therefore, decentralization is necessary. Where does Xank stand? Does it satisfy all the conditions for adoption? Why don’t you have a look at this infographic and see for yourself.

|

| title | Xank, the Stablecoin that Works |
| body | The purpose of many cryptocurrencies is to be adopted as currencies that can be spent and received in our daily lives. Since the inception of Bitcoin, numerous stablecoin projects have come and gone, but not a single one has been able to solve the problem of price fluctuations. Because cryptocurrencies waver in price every second, merchants are reluctant to accept them as a form of payment. Let’s say that I pay someone 1 Bitcoin, which is worth $10,000 in this hypothetical situation, to buy a crate of bananas. An hour after the payment is made, President Donald Trump posts a tweet that says “I hate bananas. I declare a ban on all bananas.”

Due to this news, the price plummets to $1,000 in minutes, and my banana trader has seen her rightfully earned money decimated. Will she ever do business with Bitcoin again? I highly doubt it. Do you see the problem here? In a system where price fluctuations are wild, we need a mechanism that ensures price stability, but at the same time, we need cryptocurrencies to rise and fall in price as they ride the waves of supply and demand. Before we introduce the solution, why don’t we examine why other stablecoins failed.
Collateralized Stablecoins
Some cryptocurrencies are pegged to fiat currencies through collateralization to achieve stability. What is this in layman’s terms? It means that a unit of a cryptocurrency is backed by a government issued currency, like the US dollar. Tether, for example, is a cryptocurrency that requires an equal amount of US dollars in a reserve account. This means that in order for there to be 10 Tether coins, there must be a reserve of 10 US dollars. If this is the case, then I can pay 10 Tether coins to my architect, who can exchange the cryptocurrency for 10 actual US dollars. When she cashes out, the total Tether supply is reduced by 10, and the total reserve amount of US dollars is also reduced by 10. By doing so, we maintain an equal ratio of Tether to US dollars. So far so good, huh? But there is a problem. As I just explained, Tether needs to be backed by actual money. Who is going to provide that money, and how can we be sure that we don’t run out of money? We can have 1 million Tether coins and 1 million US dollars in reserve, but if a Tether millionaire decides to cash out, we may end up with 0 Tether coins and 0 in reserve. Bye-bye, Tether! A similar suggestion is to peg a cryptocurrency to another cryptocurrency through collateralization to achieve stability. Here we are dealing with two volatile entities, which means we cannot maintain a 1:1 ratio, like the one we observed in the Tether-US dollar example. In this case, we have to “over-collateralize.” What does it mean to over-collateralize? Let me begin my explanation with another example. Let’s say 10,000 ABC coins are pegged at 1 US dollar each to Bitcoin, which is currently sitting at $10,000 apiece. One day, a critical bug is found in Bitcoin’s code, and people lose confidence in Satoshi’s masterpiece. People start selling their Bitcoin, and the price of Bitcoin tumbles from $10,000 to $2,000. Investors lose confidence and start panic selling their ABC coins because the crypto-collateral is losing is value, and eventually, the supply of Bitcoin is depleted. ABC coin has no more collateral to support it, and it has failed to serve as a stablecoin. This is where over-collateralization steps in. To prevent collateral from being liquidated, we can put in more collateral, or more Bitcoin in this example. Going back to the previous example, let’s say we have 10 times the collateral than we do ABC coins. So for a supply of 10,000 ABC coins, we have 10 Bitcoin to back it, not 1. While this does improve stability of the system, we have to ask, “Who is contributing to this pool?” “Who is willing to take the risk in contributing large amounts?” In theory, crypto collateralization sounds like a possibility, but we simply do not know what will happen in a highly volatile market. Crypto-collateralized coins are not yet market tested and can fail depending on the market situation.
Non-collateralized Seigniorage Shares
Non-collateralized what? Seigniorage shares? It sounds difficult, but I will do my best to make it easy for you to understand. The idea of seigniorage shares is that a smart contract can be used instead of collateral to maintain a peg. Much like a central bank, the smart contract keeps a watchful eye on price changes to issue and buy back stablecoin units, whenever required. Let’s bring back our friend ABC coin. If ABC coin’s price falls, the smart contract triggers a buyback, thereby lowering supply and increasing the price to its original level. If the price of ABC coin rises, then new coins are printed to stabilize the coin. In this case, we are assuming that the stablecoin will keep growing. The problem is we do not know if and when the market will fail on us. Once investors lose confidence in the market, they may lose confidence in the stablecoin and sell their shares. Okay, we’ve seen the flaws in fiat-collateralized stablecoins, crypto-collateralized stablecoins, and non-collateralized seigniorage shares. We believe Xank offers a solution that is foolproof in both theory and practice.

Xank, a Free-Floating Cryptocurrency with a Stabilizing Feature
Xank is a third-generation stablecoin with features that I will briefly touch upon today. Why don’t we take a look at how it puts an end to the search for a working stablecoin. **1. Xank, a free-floating cryptocurrency** Xank is a cryptocurrency that falls in price and goes up in price. Just like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin, if demand for Xank is high, then price increases. If demand is low, then price falls. The free-floating nature of Xank renders it possible for investors to gain on their investments. **2. Xank and the Stable Pay feature** Stable Pay is an optional, per-transaction feature that allows merchants to receive or send Xank at a desired fiat price. The Stable Pay feature is not mandatory but optional, for someone can send Xank coins using this feature or without it. **3. The Xank Reserve** The Xank Reserve is a self-funding reserve that ensures that the fiat value of a Stable Pay transaction remains constant. *How is it self-funding?* Whenever a new block is produced, a percentage of the rewards is given to the Xank Reserve. Thus, the Reserve does not require any collateral from investors. *How does the Xank Reserve maintain a fixed fiat value for transactions?* The Reserve accomplishes this by increasing or decreasing the number of Xank coins in a transaction, whenever necessary. Because Xank the cryptocurrency fluctuates in price, the Xank Reserve adjusts the amount of Xank coins to counter these price changes. **4. Xank and the IMF’s Special Drawing Right (SDR)** Tether is pegged to a single currency, the US dollar. Xank, on the other hand, is not pegged to any currency when it comes to the Xank coin’s price. Instead, when Stable Pay is activated, Xank imports the price value of IMF’s SDR, a basket of multiple world currencies, which are the US dollar, Euro, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen, and British pound sterling. Xank draws price data from the IMF to maintain a pegged fiat price when dealing with Stable Pay transactions. The reason Xank selected the SDR is a collection of currencies offers more stability than a single currency does. After all, the objective of Xank is to function as a stablecoin. These four major characteristics are the foundation of the Xank stablecoin. We believe Xank is a completely novel idea for a stablecoin that removes the need for collateral while protecting itself from market uncertainty. In our future posts, we plan to further explain Xank’s self-thriving ecosystem, so stay tuned for more. |
