Avoid addictive activities Addiction to alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling and even shopping can give you instant pleasure, but it's not a lasting solution. Dependencies only currently satisfy our needs, but they can lead to an increased risk of developing depression and other mental illnesses. 3.
