      "body": "Here in my town, the workday in the rural areas of the southern valley usually ends between 4:00 and 4:30 AM. So it's common for the rural roads, farms, and pastures to be empty after 5:00 PM, with no farmworkers and no agricultural vehicles in operation. Then, an almost absolute silence takes over the countryside, and the afternoon transforms into a serendipitous display of colors, depth, landscape, light, and eloquence. And what I'm telling you is even more true in February, March, and April, when the dry season is well underway and the ochre tones challenge and encroach upon the once-dominant green. And the skies—ah, the skies—are exquisitely blue and may have a few clouds that become beautiful white brushstrokes thanks to the high wind. So, the afternoons south of town are just that: pure, simple scenery where the savanna and the mountains converge on the horizon, describing a valley that has always been beautiful for as long as I've known it...       "body": "So I leaned into the idea of a portal instead something hidden in the forest that feels like an opening rather than an object. The round shape just felt more natural kind of inspired a little by my moon gate drawing. I want that magical feeling and that idea like it belongs there in the forest, almost grown into the trees instead of built. I am also thinking of a prism or a web.\n\nI kept the colors cool and muted, with purples and blues, because I wanted the portal to feel quiet and slightly mysterious, not scary or loud. More like the calm is pulling you in rather than scaring you. The kind of place that makes you pause and wonder what’s on the other side\n\nThis was still a quick drawing, very much a doodle, but once I committed to the idea, it started to flow. Sometimes the hardest part is just deciding what to draw, not the drawing itself.\n\nAnd as always—no pressure to keep up.       "body": "I am certainly not saying that my life is what success is all about. Obviously, we all have different dreams and ideas of what we want to create for our lives. In addition, I'm very clear that who you know, where you go and what you own are not the true measure of personal success. To me, success is the ongoing process of striving to become more. It is the opportunity to continually grow emotionally, socially, spiritually, physiologically, intellectually, and financially while contributing in some positive way to others. The road to success is always under construction. You don't \"catch\" depression. You create it, like every other result in your life, through specific mental and physical actions. In order to be depressed, you have to view your life in specific ways. You have to say certain things to yourself in just the right tones of voice. You have to adopt a specific posture and breathing pattern. For example, if you want to be depressed, it helps a lot if you collapse your shoulders and look down a lot. Speaking in a sad-sounding tone of voice and thinking of the worst-possible scenarios for your life also helps. If you throw your biochemistry into turmoil through poor diet or excessive alcohol or drug use and your body is creating low blood sugar and thus virtually guarantee depression\n\n\nMy point here is simply that it takes effort to create depression. It's hard work, and it requires taking specific types of actions. Some people have created this state so often, though, that it's easy for them to produce. If fact, often they've linked this pattern of internal communication to all kinds of external events. Some people get so many secondary gains-attention from others, sympathy, love, and so on-that they adopt this style of communication as their natural state of living. Others have lived with it so long that it actually feels comfortable. They become identified with the state. We can, however, change our mental and physical actions and thereby immediately change\n\n\n\nYou can become ecstatic by immediately adopting the point of view that creates that emotion. You can picture in your mind the kinds of things that create this feeling. You can change the tone and content of your internal dialogue with yourself. You can adopt the specific postures and breathing patterns that create that stare in your body, and voilà! You will experience ecstasy, If you want to be compassionate, you need only change your physical and mental actions to accord with those which the state of compassion requires. To produce the precise results he wants, the director of a movie manipulates what you see and hear. If he wants you to be scared, he might turn up the sound and splash some special effects on the screen at just the right moment.       "body": "It's always a mystery to me how life can be hot or cold. Busy or boring. Things seem to swing from one extreme to the next. This week has kept me moving. It's not a big change. I've been somewhat working from home for the last couple of years doing gigs. But this is a job job in which I need to work so many hours a week. It's not a 100% thing until I clock in next week. I had to buy a Windows 11 computer for the job. Tomorrow, I will perform a test to check if it meets the minimum specs. And hopefully they don't back out before the training starts.\n\nCar Repairs\nI got some collision repair started on my car. We're down to one car in our household at the moment. We can manage, more or less, with one car. I have a Honda scooter that I use to putter around town for errands. Fortunately, it's no longer 1000F in Texas. I can tolerate 90 degree weather rather well.\n\nFamily Errands\nAs the stay-at-home person, it falls on me to do certain things, like make supper and wash dishes. I don't know who made that rule. I'm going to talk to management. Of course, there are Dad things, like after school pickups and grocery runs.\n\n\n\nSide Gigs\nI have some other things I do for money. We're in a holding pattern on that. Big job. But we're waiting on some things. With the new job, I don't know how I'll be able to juggle both.\n\nPython Learning\nIt has been a couple of days since my last lesson. I need to get back to that. I'll carve out some time tomorrow evening.\n\nFinancials\nThe beginning of the month always comes with bills to pay. I need to make sure to square those away to avoid late payments.\n\nCatching Up On To Dos\nI recently started using Asana to track stuff I need to do. It's a bit annoying that Asana does a fair job of task tracking and scheduling. Like everybody, I have way more to do than I have time to do it. But at least I'm aware of what needs doing and can prioritize.\n\nI'm not complaining. I'm just surprised that everything got bunched up this week. I have one more day, Friday, to go.
