Assaad</strong></blockquote> <br> Over the past few years I have been on an epic journey of self-growth and personal-discovery, but the journey hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies. Loneliness, self-consciousness, confusion, frustration and self-doubt had often consumed me as I relentlessly made strides towards figuring out who I am, what I stand for, and why I’m here. Throughout this journey, I’ve had numerous revelations and insights as I ventured into and out of my fair share of personal lows and discouragement. The journey hasn’t been easy and I hope that sharing a few of these insights will help you throughout your journey and let you know you are not alone and everything is going to be alright. <h3><strong>1. Your energy is too precious to invest in negative people.</strong></h3> Energy is contagious and we become who we surround ourselves with, so we must always be mindful of the company we keep. Take a step back and think about who you associate with the most. What kind of people are they? What do they talk about? How do they make you feel about yourself? A pivot point for me was being asked, <blockquote><em> “If you were to introduce your friend group right now to your role model, would you be proud to make the introduction?”</em></blockquote> It was an uncomfortable and eye-opening question. I had big dreams, but at the time I wasn’t making the best decisions with how I was living or who I was surrounding myself with. My actions and associations weren’t getting me anywhere closer to where I wanted to be. <blockquote>It’s important to ask ourselves these two questions; <em>“How are the people I associate with influencing me?”</em> and <em>“Are these influences moving me closer to who I want to be?”</em></blockquote> It was a matter of loving myself and my future enough to let go of toxic relationships, release anything that didn’t serve my purpose and raise my standards of association. It was the best decision I have ever made.</li> <h3><strong> 2. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you.</strong></h3> Our energy is too precious to invest in people who don’t make us feel good. Why drain yourself around negativity? Respect yourself enough to be around people who bring out the best in you. Whether you want to be happy, healthy, successful, or mindful, (or all the above!) associating with the right people makes all the difference. Align your standard of association with whatever is important to you and your journey. On my journey, I choose to surround myself with people who are positive, ambitious, loving, considerate, compassionate, purpose driven, life loving, beautiful beings. I choose to surround myself with people who empower me, inspire me, and want the best for me. What are your standards?</li> <h3><strong> 3. Surround yourself with things that lift your spirit.</strong></h3> A positive living environment is just as important as a positive social environment. When we wake up and our subconscious conditioned mind wants to revert to its old way of thinking, having things around us that remind us to stay positive, stay present, remember our purpose, and be productive, are great tools to help us move forward. I created <a href="http://www.mymindfulmugs.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">My Mindful Mugs</a> because of the role your morning plays on the rest of your day. How you spend your morning can make or break your day. Waking up with a hot cup of coffee and a mindful morning mantra will start your day off right. Whichever mug I choose in the morning, I set it as my intention for the day. Sometimes I just need a personal pick me up and sometimes I need a kick in the butt to get things done. Whichever I need, I close my eyes, take a deep breath, focus on the mantra, sip and savor. (<em>Don’t tell anyone, but sometimes I even pretend it’s a special potion and drinking it gives me the mantra’s powers.</em>) Have fun with your mornings, and get creative with your positive living environment. There are so many resources and tools out there, My Mindful Mugs are just some of them!</li> <h3><strong> 4. When you are doubting yourself, remember your Why.</strong></h3> When we are on the path of self-growth and personal discovery, self-doubt is not a foreign concept. In fact, it’s kind of the opposite. We are basically shaking up everything we thought we knew and finding new and better ways to think, act, and live. This path can be messy, confusing, frustrating, lonely, and all the above. Anyone can live a safe and complacent life, but where’s the fun in that? We are here to experience, to grow, to face our fears, and to live our dreams. The path of self-growth and personal discovery is worth all the obstacles and self-doubt we face along the way. When self-doubt creeps up or consumes you like a tidal wave, remembering your Why will get you through it. Your Why is the purpose that drives you, the cause that moves you, and the belief that inspires you. Your Why will get you through self-criticism and discouragement. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to not just think about your Why, but write it down. Knowing your Why and having it readily available will help you think and make decisions that are in line with your purpose.</li> <h3><strong> 5. It’s a life-long process, fall in love with the journey.</strong></h3> The journey of self-growth and personal discovery is a life-long one. In a world of instant gratification, we are bound to experience impatience and frustration along the way. Take a deep breath and relax, being frantic will not get you there faster, it will only take the joy away from your present moment. In fact, there is no “<em>getting</em>” anywhere. Self-growth and personal discovery is a timeless pursuit. Self-growth is becoming a better version of yourself every day and personal discovery is the process of learning more about yourself and who you are. My actions and associations weren’t getting me anywhere closer to where I wanted to be.\n<blockquote>It’s important to ask ourselves these two questions; <em>“How are the people I associate with influencing me?”</em> and <em>“Are these influences moving me closer to who I want to be?”</em></blockquote>\nIt was a matter of loving myself and my future enough to let go of toxic relationships, release anything that didn’t serve my purpose and raise my standards of association.\n\nIt was the best decision I have ever made.</li>\n\n<h3><strong> 2. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you.</strong></h3>\nOur energy is too precious to invest in people who don’t make us feel good. Why drain yourself around negativity?\n\nRespect yourself enough to be around people who bring out the best in you.\n\nWhether you want to be happy, healthy, successful, or mindful, (or all the above!) associating with the right people makes all the difference.\n\nAlign your standard of association with whatever is important to you and your journey.\n\nOn my journey, I choose to surround myself with people who are positive, ambitious, loving, considerate, compassionate, purpose driven, life loving, beautiful beings. I choose to surround myself with people who empower me, inspire me, and want the best for me.\n\nWhat are your standards?</li>\n\n<h3><strong> 3. Surround yourself with things that lift your spirit.</strong></h3>\nA positive living environment is just as important as a positive social environment.\n\nWhen we wake up and our subconscious conditioned mind wants to revert to its old way of thinking, having things around us that remind us to stay positive, stay present, remember our purpose, and be productive, are great tools to help us move forward.\n\nI created <a href=\"http://www.mymindfulmugs.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Mindful Mugs</a> because of the role your morning plays on the rest of your day. How you spend your morning can make or break your day. Waking up with a hot cup of coffee and a mindful morning mantra will start your day off right.\n\nWhichever mug I choose in the morning, I set it as my intention for the day. Sometimes I just need a personal pick me up and sometimes I need a kick in the butt to get things done.\n\nWhichever I need, I close my eyes, take a deep breath, focus on the mantra, sip and savor. When you are doubting yourself, remember your Why.</strong></h3>\nWhen we are on the path of self-growth and personal discovery, self-doubt is not a foreign concept. In fact, it’s kind of the opposite.\n\nWe are basically shaking up everything we thought we knew and finding new and better ways to think, act, and live. This path can be messy, confusing, frustrating, lonely, and all the above.\n\nAnyone can live a safe and complacent life, but where’s the fun in that? We are here to experience, to grow, to face our fears, and to live our dreams. The path of self-growth and personal discovery is worth all the obstacles and self-doubt we face along the way.\n\nWhen self-doubt creeps up or consumes you like a tidal wave, remembering your Why will get you through it. Your Why is the purpose that drives you, the cause that moves you, and the belief that inspires you. Your Why will get you through self-criticism and discouragement.\n\nIf you haven’t already, I encourage you to not just think about your Why, but write it down.\nKnowing your Why and having it readily available will help you think and make decisions that are in line with your purpose.</li>\n \t\n<h3><strong> 5.
