Trezor is widely considered the original bitcoin hardware wallet, and has no known affiliation with Dorsey.\n\nHe did not elaborate on his choice, only hinting that the fact that firmware of Ledger, one the main competitors of Trezor, is not open source, was potentially the reason of this purchase. According to previous statements by Ledger, most parts of their firmware will be open source in the unspecified future.\nMoreover, a bit earlier, Dorsey, who has 4.15 million followers on Twitter, once again (un)intentionally endorsed Casa Node, a plug-and-play solution for running a Bitcoin and Lightning Network node, when he tweeted a screenshot of supposedly his smartphone that showed he spent some time with Casa. Despite Dorsey revealed that he got the Casa Node in an earlier tweet on March 1, this new endorsement prompted another wave of enthusiasm in the cryptoverse.\nrsey did not specify which Trezor model he bought. They are looking to automate the whole life cycle for the issuance of these financial instruments so that a corporate can do a self-service issuance.\n\n“Nivaura’s platform streamlines and automates the entire end-to-end process of issuing financial instruments and their ongoing administration and lifecycle management. The technology has already been deployed across multiple asset classes including private placement vanilla bonds, more complex structured products and equity,” Nivaura’s CEO, Dr. Avtar Sehra, told news outlet Euromoney.\n\nIt is estimated that the investment will allow Nivaura to rapidly expand its leadership, business development and technical teams in order to accelerate growth. This is also important for projects such as Ethereum, which is looking into sharding as one of the possible solutions to its scaling debate, although it is not expected on the Ethereum mainnet before 2020. With Zilliqa’s mainnet up and running, they may be lighting the way for other projects to implement this solution without forgoing security and decentralization while gaining scalability.\n\nAlthough there are many features that set Zilliqa apart from similar projects, sharding is considered by far the most important one, as the first live implementation of the technology. In general, sharding is a type of database partitioning that separates very large databases into smaller, faster, more easily managed parts called data shards.\n\nIn blockchain, sharding splits the work that the network has to do into smaller groups, called shards. Participants in the network (nodes) then establish consensus in those smaller groups, which makes transactions faster and cheaper than if they were processed by the entire network.       "body": "![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcB46n4jPgh26tbWCKvm4CUknuD343Gc9mDa1mLZ2LCgH/image.png)\nAll eyes are on the bitcoin cash (BCH) blockchain ahead of a scheduled technical upgrade tomorrow. \n\nWhile it’s a process that the world’s fourth-largest blockchain by market capitalization undergoes every six months, at which point it asks all users operating the software to upgrade to a newer version, there’s a twist this time around. Specifically, a deep contention over the cryptocurrency’s technical direction.\n\nWhile previous forks have been supported en masse by bitcoin cash developers and miners, there are now marked differences of opinion between supporters of two main versions of the software – Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV – over the future the direction of the code’s specific features (Bitcoin SV, most notably, would continue boosting the software’s block size). \n\nThis is significant for those who own or trade BCH because, if neither side has majority backing, then the bitcoin cash chain will undergo a split into separate blockchains, each with its own cryptocurrency.\n\nThis raises questions for investors and potentially brings opportunities into play.\n\nMarket movements\nOne way to begin to assess options ahead is to look at how other traders are already responding. Over the course of four days from Nov. 2–6, the price of bitcoin cash surged 49 percent to reach a two-month high.\n\nPerhaps not coincidentally, the jump occurred within hours of major cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Coinbase announcing their support for the upcoming hard fork.\n\nThat’s likely because, if the major exchanges are accommodating the fork, potentially millions of traders will have access to BCH buying and will just need to wait a little for their wait for the free coins, and, as such, a wave of demand was triggered by the news.\n\nCryptocurrency trader Josh Rager described the sudden surge in bitcoin cash’s recent performance as an anomaly when compared to the broader market, suggesting the price rise must be a result of hype surrounding the fork.\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmUYPbdc3JnisQetYngjnhu8nfFmRWD7XjtBENcqP6FTD7/image.png)\nRager told CoinDesk:\n\n“With current price action of BCH, it’s 100 percent related to the fork and support from exchanges. No other major cryptocurrency is seeing a notable price change.”\n\nA technical analyst would argue though that all known information is reflected in the price of an asset and, by that logic, the sudden rise could have been foreseen. A trader going by the handle “Crypto Rand” did, in fact, suspect bitcoin cash was due for a big move anyway, although the fork news likely was the catalyst.\n\n“Definitely the move was pushed by the news, but not only because of it. Technical analysis wise, it was also looking interesting. The current range proved solid for a long time having some good accumulation over there,” he said.\n\nGauging sentiment\nSince many notable cryptocurrency exchanges announced support for the fork, a few have even launched futures contract-like trading for future blockchains that could be created as a result of the split, which essentially act as placeholders until the fork is complete. \n\nPoloniex’s ‘pre-fork trading’ has been live since Nov. 8 but will come to a close at 15:00 on Nov. 15, and at the time of writing, BCHABC and BCHSV are trading at $250 and $175 respectively. Earlier today the gap between the two prices was much narrower, indicating favor towards a particular fork is not as one-sided as many first thought. \n\nIndeed, it’s an innovative way to gauge support for the fork, but a poll conducted by CoinDesk suggested the interest among causal traders was minimal.\n\nWhen asked what their trading plans were ahead of the fork, a combined 76 percent of the 2,669 users answered they either plan to “wait and see” or are simply “not interested.”\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmW1haqBhDJqWppQD8cF955Aqg6zUFV4mu8H9AEbk2WUx9/image.png)\nPhilakone, a prominent crypto analyst, also conducted a poll asking his audiences’ opinion on the upcoming fork.\n\nSo far, 41 percent have stated they felt BTCSV is likely to fail, with 36 percent believing it will succeed. By Thursday evening, we will know who guessed right.\n\nPro strategies\nWhen looking at the price performance of past forks like zclassic or bitcoin private and their 90+ percent price declines, there’s merit in using caution when considering holding onto a forked coin long-term.\n\nThis sentiment does not seem to be lost among the traders who all agree entering a trade now would contradict their risk management practices. “I would sell half instantly and trade the other half during the next week,” Rand said.\n\nA trader going by the tag “Credible Crypto” agreed, speaking to the short-term outlook that cryptocurrency traders tend to abide by:\n\n“Most are in this for a quick profit and are not aiming to hold the newly forked coin for price appreciation. Those that sell first will win, the rest will be left behind (at least until the price for this coin stabilizes).“\n\nPopular Twitter crypto analyst Nick Cote offered some final wisdom.\n\n“I wouldn’t be buying here.       "body": "Imagine if your bank froze your savings account because the only person with the combination to the vault had died.\n\nInvestors in a Canadian crypto-currency exchange are in a similar fix after the only person with the password to accounts valued at $190 million in U.S. dollars died unexpectedly in India in December, CoinDesk reported.\n\nGerald Cotten, CEO and co-founder of QuadrigaCX, died of complications from Crohn’s disease Dec. 9 while traveling in India to set up an orphanage, the firm wrote Jan. 14 on Facebook.\n\nIn a filing Thursday for creditor protection with the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Jennifer Robertson, Cotten’s widow, said his death left the company unable to access the bulk of its crypto-currency funds, CBC News reported.\n\n\nThe filing says Cotten had the only password to so-called “cold storage” accounts, a form of savings, containing bitcoins deposited by 115,000 investors, CoinDesk reported.\n\n\nHe apparently left no record of the password, and security experts consulted by QuadrigaCX have been unable to crack the accounts, according to the publication.       "body": "![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbp41R1hszWhXHBUB8JSu7Aqo77QZe2c3SjxZ1LvAf4PX/image.png)\n\nIndia’s prime minster Narendra Modi is in occupied Kashmir for a daylong visit on Sunday to review development work as Kashmiris fighting Indian rule called for a shutdown in the Himalayan region.\n\nShops and businesses were shut while thousands of armed Indian forces and commandos in flak jackets spread out across the area and closed off roads with coiled razor wire and iron barricades to prevent protests and attacks during Modi's visit.\n\nTraffic was sparse, with buses staying off the roads and few cars venturing out in Srinagar, the main city and the center of urban dissent against Indian occupation, where Modi is expected later on Sunday.
