| title | List of Crypto Tycoons and How they Became So Rich |
| body |
Crypto Tycoons List Released by Statista
There has been a statistics released by a company called Statista that lists the Top 10 Crypto Tycoons. The list contains some prominent people in Crypto Space who are early adopters and used this tech to grow wealth. We will be analyzing each one of them and how they became a Crypto Tycoons.
Chris Larsen - Co-founder of Ripple
Chris Larsen is the co-founded the Ripple Labs, software that enables instant transfer between two parties(many banks and financial institutions). Ripple Labs also started its cryptocurrency called XRP. XRP is currently ranked third in marketcap after only Bitcoin and Ethereum. XRP is a token used for transferring assets like gold, money, miles, and rupees between two parties. Ripple's XRP was created as a token for banks and financial institutions for transferring funds between two banks instantly across the globe instantly with minimal fees. Ripple Labs is holding around 50 Billion XRP tokens and in that Chris Larsen is said to hold 15.8 Billion XRP. When the price of 1 XRP token hit ATH of $3.84, his value rose to $59.9 Billion dollars. He is undoubtedly the richest crypto tycoon and with more banks adopting Ripple and Price of XRP growing higher his net worth is set to go exponentially.
Joseph Lubin - Co-founder of Ethereum
Joseph Lubin is the co-founder of Ethereum along with Vitalik Buterin and Anthony Di Iorio. Lubin came to know about Ethereum in 2013 after he saw the whitepaper presentation from Vitalik. He also owns the majority of his stake in a company called ConsenSys, and he built this company by funding it with Bitcoins. Lubin became a Crypto tycoon by investing in Ethereum early during its Initial Coin offering time. He is said to have bought a lot of Ether during crowd sale and is said to be the top buyer of ETH. Since the price of Ethereum sky-rocketed his value also rose to the skies. He would be only second to Chris Larsen in the list of richest crypto tycoons.
Changpeng Zhao - Binance Exchange Owner
Changpeng Zhao is the founder of the World's largest exchange - Binance. It just started a year ago, and then there is not looking back, it serves more than 7 million customers with a volume of close to 2 million transactions per day. The exchange has a very strict policy for any coin to get listed. The price of any coin skyrockets after it gets listed in this exchange. Also, there are unconfirmed reports that the exchange is charging close to $ 1 Million in crypto for getting listed. Undoubtedly Chnagpeng Zhao would become the richest person on earth during the next bull run due to the massive trading volume happening in Binanace. Also of exchange revenue, they also have their own token Binance coin(BNB) used for trading in their exchange. The token's value is also skyrocketing and would see exponential growth in the coming months.
Winklevoss Brothers - Early Bitcoin Adopters
Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss brothers are early Bitcoin adopters and also own an exchange called Gemini in the US. They accused Mark Zuckerberg of stealing their idea about starting social media website that happened to be Facebook. In the legal battle with Mark, Winklevoss brothers happened to get compensation for about $11 Million. They invested the entire amount into Bitcoin four years ago. Now they are own the largest portfolio in Bitcoin, and their $11 million has fetched them more than Billion now due to the price of Bitcoin skyrocketing. Winklevoss brothers believe that Bitcoin is still in infancy and will grow 30-fold in the coming months.
Mathew Mellon - Late Billionaire
Mathew Mellon is no more and when he died his massive funds in Ripple's XRP was also lost forever. He was so secure about the crypto funds that he didn't share the private keys with anyone, even his family. When he died, half a billion USD of XRP tokens were lost forever.
Brian Armstrong - CEO of Coinbase
Brian Armstrong is the Co-founder and CEO of America's biggest exchange - Coinbase. Coinbase has grown exponentially in the recent past and has become the biggest exchange in volume and users in the US. They also have crypto-crypto exchange called GDAX, while Coinbase is used for bringing in liquidity by allowing users to buy coins directly from fiat using the bank account. Coinbase is responsible for introducing crypto to America and helped it for adoption. Coinbase company is valued at $1.6 Billion, and Armstrong has a major stake in it making him be included in the crypto tycoons list.
Matthew Roszak - First ICO investor
Mathew Roszak is the co-founder of Bloq, and his net worth is said to be close to $1 Billion. He participated in initial coin offering even before the term was publicly used. He invested heavily in Mastercoin, Factom, and Maidsafe. He also invested in a couple of crypto startups in those times like Coinbase, Kraken, and BTCC. His Smart Crypto investments have earned him the place in the list of Crypto tycoons.
Anthony Di Iorio - Founder of Jaxx and Decentral
Anthony Di Iorio is the Co-founder of Ethereum and also the founder of Jaxx and Decentral. He is an early adopter of Bitcoin at a very early stage. He met Vitalik at a Bitcoin Meetup group and at his first meeting with him itself he was impressed with Vitalik's brilliance. He funded Ethereum's development at an early stage by investing funds from his prior company. His strategy is always to invest in a growing technology like Ethereum and pour that gains into another small coin that has great potential. He is said to be a billionaire and is sure to take place in the list of Crypto tycoons.
Brock Pierce - Co-Founder of EOS
In 2013 Brock Pierce founded the venture capital firm Blockchain Capital. Pierce announced $50 million Initial Coin offering launch in 2017, and the token was named as EOS. EOS raised $4 Billion in its ICO stage and became one of the most successful ones. Block.one is the company owned by Pierce that is responsible for marketing EOS. EOS is similar to Ethereum where businesses and programs are said to run blockchain to create decentralized applications. According to Forbes, his net worth would be between 700 million and 1.1 billion in crypto.
Michael Novogratz - CEO and Founder of Galaxy Digital
Michael Novogratz is like a crypto celebrity since he appears in the shows quite often promoting crypto and also he is hailed for accurately predicting a few years ago about the BTC price reaching 10k in December 2017. He is also an early adopter of Bitcoin and Ethereum, and his company Galaxy digital has recently started Bloomberg Galaxy Crypto index for providing institutional grade benchmark for cryptocurrency market. Bloomberg index tracks the largest and the most liquid portion of the cryptocurrency market. He is from wall street and would be a role model for many other wall street traders from moving away from traditional to cryptocurrency investment. | title | Tether Double Spent FUD Negated By Omni Founder |
| body | There have been reports on Tether (USDT) being double spent on an exchange, and this news started to spread like a wildfire. It is not even a week now after Tether had a successful audit and cleared the FUD that was accusing it of printing money out of thin air and proved itself that it has USD backed for every token it produced. Now, it is hit with another FUD narrative that a successful double spent has occurred. Below is the detailed explanation on the full episode. SlowMist Posting Screenshot of Tether Double Spent The Tether double spending was first exposed by SlowMist - a Chinese website focusing on Blockchain Ecosystem Security. They reported it on their Twitter page, and the tweet was in Chinese. This was later posted on Reddit, and many started to comment on it. Many started to research on this to find out if this is an authentic cased of double spending or not. Below is the screenshot of the transaction shared by SlowMist. Also, many started to look at it in the block explorer to get a clear picture to know if this a case of double spending or not. Below are the transaction details fetched from the block explorer. { "amount": "694.00000000", "block": 529555, "blockhash": "00000000000000000004850989c1e8b3846b2e503d2bf8c3f63857a3aec0133d", "blocktime": 1530162531, "confirmations": 108, "divisible": true, "fee": "0.00011036", "ismine": false, "positioninblock": 448, "propertyid": 31, "propertyname": "TetherUS", "referenceaddress": "16sNxzU5qMmeDkV4QcARCivMNknxr9Yx79", "sendingaddress": "17R4MDRYiC29znLdGUo4wz9dwNboWvt2Uy", "txid": "f2e4b555532c6abd9065ab6158a1eec184e4fa8a570e9fb1ede4022589904dd8", "type": "Simple Send", "type_int": 0, "valid": true, "version": 0 } In the Reddit post, it is also mentioned that "A double-spent has been successfully performed on USDT, we recommend Tether perform a code review to catch this vulnerability." The reported transaction happened when someone wanted to send Tether from an exchange integrated with Omni layer. Omni Founder Negates this FUD Narrative Omni is a layer for trading digital assets on a fully decentralized asset platform and has its own token Omni(OMNI). It is built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, and so it is very secure and trusted. All the Omni transactions are Bitcoin transactions. Omni Founder commented on the Reddit post and cleared the air about this double spending narrative. He said that for double spending on Omni one needs to double spend on the Bitcoin blockchain, because the Omni layer is built on top of the most secure and trusted Bitcoin network. He explained that assets on Omni are very secure and in this case, he noted that the exchange wasn't checking the "Valid" flag on the transaction. He further added that the exchange accepted a transaction with Valid=False first and then the second double spent transaction accepted was with flag Valid=True. He also dismissed this narrative completely by saying that this is a classic case of poor exchange integration. He also shared a GitHub link where one of his developers has explained about the best practices for exchange integration. In that link, the developer has clearly requested the exchange to check the "Valid" flag before accepting any transactions. Below is the screenshot of the same. The above explanation by the Omni founder clears the air surrounding the Tether double spending FUD and should have removed the fear from the traders and investors. It is unfortunate that Tether is targeted again and again and people think that by targeting Tether they can bring down Bitcoin. They forget to understand that Tether with a marketcap of $2.7 billion cannot make a significant impact on Bitcoin, which still has a marketcap of over $100 billion. Double Spent - Explained Double Spent is a term used when the coins are spent on more than one transaction. This is an attack on the network, and the most secure blockchains cannot be double spent because one needs 51% of the computing power of the network to perform an attack to reverse a transaction. That's why we consider Bitcoin to be the most secure network since it has huge hashpower and it is highly unlikely for anyone to perform a 51% attack. |

| title | Bittrex Account Hacked Even with 2FA |
| body | It is shocking to know that a trader's Bittrex account was hacked and he reportedly lost $40k worth of crypto. The most shocking part is that his account had 2FA enabled, but the hacker was able to disable it and steal the funds. This is very tragic and depressing that big exchanges like Bittrex seem not to be acting responsibly, and have failed to effectively implement even the most basic of security measures. Bittrex Account Hack Story The below are the events that happened that led to the loss of funds from the Bittrex user. On July 19th, the hacker was able to get into the user's Google account. The user had previously enabled "Google Sign-in," a tool to store the password and allow auto sign in. The hacker easily stole the password from that tool and was able to login to the email account. The hacker used a photo editing tool to Morph the user's picture and made it look like him holding the passport. With the hacker having the photo of the user holding the passport, he convinced the Bittrex support team for disabling the 2FA. The hacker was very smart and immediately put a rule in the mail setting to move the Bittrex mails to trash so that user cannot view the conversations between the hacker and the support team. The Bittrex support team requested for identity verification for disabling 2FA; the hacker sent an edited photo of the user holding passport and another edited photo showing "bittrex 19.06.2018, Please disable 2FA". The Bittrex Support team immediately disabled the 2FA, and the hacker was able to then log into the Bittrex account and send all the 40k that user held to his account. The user later logged in and found out that his account was hacked and shocked to find all his 40k crypto funds stolen. It took only 25 hours for the Bittrex support agent to disable 2FA with a badly photoshopped identity verification picture. The Bittrex support team didn't alert the user when they saw the login IP address coming from a different part of the world. Also, the support agents didn't question for disabling the 2FA and blindly disabled it on user request. Lessons to be Learnt for the User Below points are applicable for anyone dealing with their valuable crypto funds. Please don't store your coins on an exchange, move them to a hardware wallet for medium security or follow Glacier Protocol for utmost security. Hold only the amount that you want to trade and remaining funds should be moved to hardware wallets or any other cold storage. Please don't be lazy to enable autologin to your mail accounts that are used to communicate or log in to an exchange where you have stored your coins. Never reveal your holdings to anyone other than your family. Because it will attract thieves and hackers. Exchanges also to be Vigilant Exchanges should be extra vigilant and should focus on securing users' funds, rather than showing interest in adding new coins/token on a regular basis. User account's security should be given the utmost importance, and a great security virtual wall should be constructed for stopping hackers from stealing funds from the users. Below are some of the points exchanges should adopt to avoid such incidents Exchanges should be vigilant and should ask as many questions as possible when a user requests for disabling 2FA and only if there is solid reason with proof they should go ahead and disable it. The exchanges should contact the user directly when there is a login IP coming from a different part of the world than the usual location. They should contact and confirm the location of the user and should temporarily disable the account if the user confirms that it is someone else logging into his account. The exchange should have several checks in place before withdrawing huge amount of coins from the exchange. At least three checks should be there for big amount withdrawal. Security questions can be asked during withdrawal, and it would avoid such hacks in future. It is a collective responsibility for the user and the exchanges to secure their funds and make exchanges a safe and secure place to trade. Crypto cannot go mainstream if hacks are happening on a daily basis. This would scare away the new users who would be bringing in the fiat liquidity into the crypto space. |

| title | Make Some Money By Simply Using Lightning Network |
| body | Lightning Network is currently in its beta stage, but there have been findings that there would be some good earning opportunities for early adopters of this technology. Marc van der Chijs explains how he was able to earn some money by setting up the Lightning node and allowing many channels to connect to it. The most important thing is that your initial investment would return back to you safely whenever you choose to close the channel. Bear Market Is a Blessing in Disguise The current bear market is a blessing in disguise since it will allow many tech-savvy people to concentrate and learn new technologies like Lightning network and experiment with some unique test cases. Since the technology is still in its infancy, one can adopt it early and try to learn its functionality to get the best out of it. In the Bull market, many will be concentrating only on the price action and get distracted from the technology. There are many areas in Bitcoin which are yet to be explored by the public, but most of them speculate or trade to earn quick money. Those who have invested time in understanding the fundamentals are well placed, and so they would have invested long term because they understand the underlying value of Bitcoin and are confident on this technology to go places. First Block Capital's Lightning Experiment First Block Capital is Canada's first registered cryptocurrency investment firm. They are focusing on the Lightning Network and doing some experiments to understand this technology. Surprisingly, they ended up earning some money even in while using its beta version. First Block Capital is still struggling to overcome a lot of hurdles and failures, but their team is working hard to leverage this groundbreaking technology that would be the second layer solution for Bitcoin. They are looking for a business model on top of Lightning Network. They also set up a Lightning node and quickly they became the 6th most connected node on the Lightning network with over 200 open channels. Surprise Money Made via Lightning Node People at First Block Capital crashed the channel by mistake and ended up going to "ground zero." This is expected since they are only experimenting and only by crashing the system several times they can learn a lot about this new technology. After many channels crashed, they checked the node to see if they lost all the money that they invested. But surprisingly they found out that they have made $125 with an initial investment of $2000. The $2000 in Bitcoins were spread over 200 nodes and the transactions that used their nodes and channels paid the fees that slowly were accumulating over time without them being aware that they are making passive money using the network. They also can close the channels anytime and get their $2000 investment back anytime. Gathering Lightning Data - Another Earner The people at First Block Capital found out another important way to earn money during their experiment. This idea came from them not knowing the transaction details that went through their channel and helped them in earning their fees. The opportunity awaits anyone who builds a website that gathers and analyzes the Lightning data that helps people to know the transaction that passed their channel. Lightning Network - Internet 2.0 Lightning would be a game-changer for Bitcoin and would be a disruptive technology that could completely change the way the payment system is handled on the internet. The business model of the big internet companies would change since microtransactions will become a reality with negligible fees. For example, one could earn Bitcoin by just viewing ads on websites, or they pay the author for their articles in the easiest and most secure way possible using the Lightning network. Lightning Technology is something that everyone should experiment with now by setting up node and then see if they have any earning opportunity, which might be a game changer for those who missed the initial Bitcoin Boat. |

| title | Dictatorial EOS Threatens Its Block Producer with a Lawsuit |
| body | EOS is in the news again for wrong reasons and this time it has become a hot topic due to the revelation by one of its Block producers that he was threatened for not blocking an account. EOS has raised a serious question: are they moving back to the same old centralized setup like banks and governments. Last week only we reported that EOS is stealing ETH from users and before that would cool down we have another controversy coming from their stable. EOS Governance Model EOS have their governance model in place rather than other projects which have decentralized blockchain in place. The governance model is said to be the management of the blockchain that cannot be automated but performed by human interactions. Daniel Larimer, Founder of this project, calls it Decentralized Blockchain Governance. EOS wants to make blockchain safer for users, so it has brought in a governance model in its blockchain. The Governance Model in EOS is managed by the "Block Producers." Block Producers replace the Miners in the Delegated Proof of Stake algorithm used in this blockchain. They determine the stability of the entire blockchain. There are 21 Block producers and 100 spare block producers. Block Producers are responsible for the following tasks assigned to them, and in return, they get paid via inflation. Below are their duties. Receive the transactions. Make a block out of the collected transactions. Broadcast the blocks to other Block Producers. They have extra powers to even censor any transactions, according to the EOS constitution. The controversy has erupted there only, and this has questioned the decentralized nature of its blockchain. EOS Block Producers Ordered to Freeze 27 Accounts There were previous reports that were floating around on social media that EOS block producers were ordered to freeze 27 accounts. The order came from ECAF in a letter with the signature of Sam Sapoznick who is the ECAF Interim Emergency Arbitrator. This created a huge controversy, and Crypto Twitter was on fire regarding this centralized governance model on a decentralized blockchain. They were questioning if we are going back to the same government and bank setup with this kind of centralization. | title | Bitcoin’s Wikipedia Page Editor Doesn’t Own Any Bitcoins |
| body | Ladislav Mecir is a 57-year-0ld computer programmer actively contributing to Bitcoin’s Wikipedia page. He is a fan of Bitcoin from 2012, but he doesn’t own any. Let’s check on the reason for him not to buy early even though he was a huge fan of Bitcoin. Czech Grandpa’s Life History Ladislav is from the Czech Republic working as a computer programmer. He has two grandsons and is awaiting a granddaughter. Ladislav is an active contributor to Bitcoin’s Wikipedia page, and he is a huge fan of the technology right from 2012. He is coming from a country that has some of the world’s most enthusiastic Bitcoin fans. Also, the Czech Republic is proud of being the first country to have the Bitcoin Mining Pool in the world. But he is not the person who acts like “Bitcoin Millennials” who have invested in future technology and “acts cool”. Wikipedia and Bitcoin Entry Ladislav first came to know about Wikipedia in the 2000s when he was making a career change. He was struggling to support his family at that time, and his earnings were only from his high school teaching and other small part-time jobs. He learned a lot of stuff from Wikipedia; he even learned some advanced math concepts from the Wikipedia page. This developed an interest in him and drove him closer to this site. As mentioned, he came to know about Bitcoin in 2012. When he first heard about this technology he said: “This is going to change Everything” He was even surprised that something like this could ever exist. He then started to learn about bitcoin and blockchain technology by himself. He then decided to monitor the Wikipedia page and found that it was a great way to learn this technology in depth. Editing Bitcoin’s Wikipedia Page Mecir devoted several hours to editing Bitcoin’s Wikipedia page. He maintains both versions of the page, namely English and Czech. But, his family is not too much a fan of him spending a lot of time on his hobby, and they tease him. He knows the importance of this technology because he has faced intellectual suppression while he attended university and most of the economic and scientific textbooks were censored by the government. So he had a natural liking for Bitcoin since it is a technology that is censorship resistant. Problems Faced by Bitcoin’s Wikipedia Page Bitcoin’s Wikipedia page has faced a number of problems. The Bitcoin Wikipedia page has been removed and then published again. Mecir thinks “Nocoiners” feel that the technology is a scam that attracts unsuspecting people. Many other people also have personally said to him that Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme and that it should not have Wikipedia page. The Wikipedia page also faces numerous problems from the people who want to edit it. Some people who edit it fasely claim they are the inventors of this technology. One such incident happened when an anonymous editor from Greek IP address edited the page and said that he invented Bitcoin. Due to these issues, the Bitcoin Wikipedia page is now set up so that it locks the page and new users with an account less than four days old are not allowed to edit. Also, it protects the page from being edited by users from an unregistered IP address. Mecir’s Contribution to Bitcoin Mecir is working hard on making the Wikipedia page more informative. He is proud of contributing two original pages on the difficulty of mining bitcoin over time and the total Bitcoins in circulation. He considers Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to be a major experiment in economics and compares it to the CERN experiment that uses the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter. CERN has the world’s largest particle physics laboratory in the world. Mecir compares Bitcoin to be an experiment like CERN but on economics instead of physics. Reasons for Not Investing in Bitcoin When Mecir was questioned about not investing in Bitcoin back in 2012 (price was around $2 at that time) even after knowing about the technology and being a long time fan of it, he smiled and replied that “It could have gone the other way,” He mentioned that he is naturally a risk-averse person and prefers investing in stable financial instruments, and also to be able to make sure that he can pay his home mortgage rather than speculating and investing in Bitcoin. Even though he has not invested personally in Bitcoin, he says that he has invested his time and is learning a lot about the technology all the time. He finally wraps up with this statement. “I learned a lot, and I cannot lose what I have learned.” |

"title": "Bitcoin’s Wikipedia Page Editor Doesn’t Own Any Bitcoins",
"body": "Ladislav Mecir is a 57-year-0ld computer programmer actively contributing to Bitcoin’s Wikipedia page. He is a fan of Bitcoin from 2012, but he doesn’t own any. Let’s check on the reason for him not to buy early even though he was a huge fan of Bitcoin.\n\nCzech Grandpa’s Life History\nLadislav is from the Czech Republic working as a computer programmer. But he is not the person who acts like “Bitcoin Millennials” who have invested in future technology and “acts cool”.\n\nWikipedia and Bitcoin Entry\nLadislav first came to know about Wikipedia in the 2000s when he was making a career change. He was struggling to support his family at that time, and his earnings were only from his high school teaching and other small part-time jobs. He learned a lot of stuff from Wikipedia; he even learned some advanced math concepts from the Wikipedia page. This developed an interest in him and drove him closer to this site.\n\nAs mentioned, he came to know about Bitcoin in 2012. When he first heard about this technology he said:\n\n“This is going to change Everything”\n\nHe was even surprised that something like this could ever exist. He then started to learn about bitcoin and blockchain technology by himself. He then decided to monitor the Wikipedia page and found that it was a great way to learn this technology in depth.\n\nEditing Bitcoin’s Wikipedia Page\nMecir devoted several hours to editing Bitcoin’s Wikipedia page. He maintains both versions of the page, namely English and Czech. But, his family is not too much a fan of him spending a lot of time on his hobby, and they tease him.\n\nHe knows the importance of this technology because he has faced intellectual suppression while he attended university and most of the economic and scientific textbooks were censored by the government. So he had a natural liking for Bitcoin since it is a technology that is censorship resistant.\n\nProblems Faced by Bitcoin’s Wikipedia Page\nBitcoin’s Wikipedia page has faced a number of problems. The Bitcoin Wikipedia page has been removed and then published again. Mecir thinks “Nocoiners” feel that the technology is a scam that attracts unsuspecting people. Many other people also have personally said to him that Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme and that it should not have Wikipedia page.\n\nThe Wikipedia page also faces numerous problems from the people who want to edit it. Also, it protects the page from being edited by users from an unregistered IP address.\n\nMecir’s Contribution to Bitcoin\nMecir is working hard on making the Wikipedia page more informative. He is proud of contributing two original pages on the difficulty of mining bitcoin over time and the total Bitcoins in circulation.\n\nHe considers Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to be a major experiment in economics and compares it to the CERN experiment that uses the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter. CERN has the world’s largest particle physics laboratory in the world. Mecir compares Bitcoin to be an experiment like CERN but on economics instead of physics.\n\nReasons for Not Investing in Bitcoin\nWhen Mecir was questioned about not investing in Bitcoin back in 2012 (price was around $2 at that time) even after knowing about the technology and being a long time fan of it, he smiled and replied that\n\n“It could have gone the other way,”\n\nHe mentioned that he is naturally a risk-averse person and prefers investing in stable financial instruments, and also to be able to make sure that he can pay his home mortgage rather than speculating and investing in Bitcoin.\n\nEven though he has not invested personally in Bitcoin, he says that he has invested his time and is learning a lot about the technology all the time. He finally wraps up with this statement.\n\n“I learned a lot, and I cannot lose what I have learned.”",
