| body | Dear @jwamshop, Concerning your argument that the nerves of a mammal are on the wrong side of the eye: In the eye, **light-processing optimization** requires **1)** a mechanism to detect light, **2**) a quick replenishment of that light-detecting mechanism to enable its extended use in large quantities of light, which tends to destroy tissue, **3)** the removal of heat from the highly metabolic process before the heat destroys protein function, **4)** the removal of heat from light focused on the retina, and **5)** the prevention of light reflecting inside the eye after it passes through the photoreceptors. To optimally balance these major factors so the retina can work properly - The photoreceptors must be inverted and embedded in the **retinal pigment epithelium**, a cell layer just outside the retina. This vital tissue removes waste and helps remove heat from the rapidly regenerating receptors. Its black granule pigment prevents light-scattering. The choroid’s extensive network of blood vessels supports the high metabolic needs of photoreceptors and functions like a car radiator to absorb additional heat. Researchers have known for decades that the “uninsulated” nerve fibers leaving the photoreceptors spread apart, making this layer light-transparent. In addition, retinal Müller cells conduct light from front to back like fiber optic cables. One paper described their remarkable properties: “The increasing refractive index together with their funnel shape at nearly constant light-guiding capability make them ingeniously designed light collectors.”This enables the light-sensitive molecules to detect light regardless of which way the retina is oriented. One research study simply concludes, **“The retina is revealed as an optimal structure designed for improving the sharpness of images.”** Another account extolls the eye’s extraordinary performance: “Photoreceptors operate at the outermost boundary allowed by the laws of physics, which means **they are as good as they can be, period.**” Simply put, if our eyes were built according to evolutionists’ expectations, we’d all be blind. |

| body | Dear @jwamshop: Vocal cords in the larynx are innervated by the right and left laryngeal nerves. These nerves branch off of their respective vagus cranial nerves. On the left side, the vagus nerve travels from the skull, down the neck, toward the heart, and then past it. The recurrent laryngeal nerve branches off from the vagus just below the aorta. Looping under the aorta, the RLN then travels upward (or recurs) to serve several organs as it travels up to the larynx. **Evolutionists see poor design in the fact that the left nerve does not branch off closer to the larynx**. (It should be noted that even though the left RLN is longer than the right nerve, **signals to each nerve are adjusted so that the vocal cords are stimulated simultaneously so normal speech is produced**.) This is NOT poor design: Investigations at Johns Hopkins Medical School found that during development, “the left vagus nerve and its recurrent laryngeal branch form a sling supporting the distal (or ductus arteriosus component) of the left sixth aortic arch.” Remarkably, these researchers found in their study that: The media [composition of the blood vessel wall] of the ductus arteriosus beneath the supporting nerves is thinner and has less elastic fiber formation than the elastic lamellar media of the adjacent aortic arches. The study shows that the vagus and recurrent laryngeal nerves are in a position to provide mechanical support to the ductus arteriosus during its development and that the morphology [or composition] of the media of the supported ductus arteriosus differs from that of the adjacent unsupported aortic arches. It is suggested that this local mechanical support may be the reason that the normal ductus arteriosus differentiates as a muscular artery and is therefore able to obliterate its lumen in postnatal life. Without such support the ductal media could develop the abundant elastic fibers characteristic of the normal unsupported aorta and pulmonary trunk and become an abnormal, persistently patent [or open] ductus arteriosus [not a good situation]. Developmental research shows how the RLN should be seen as a **wise mechanism, designed to provide the right supporting conditions during a baby’s development for the ductus arteriosus to form correctly**. There are multiple purposes for this nerve beyond activating the left vocal cord. Its length, location, and function all point to ingenious—not poor—design. The assertion that its position in our body is due to a remote fish ancestry is yet another colossal evolutionary blunder. **Sadly, this claim is much like the other arguments against an all-knowing Creator which have been proven false by science; such as so-called vestigial organs (supposedly useless organs) like the tonsils, appendix, and wisdom teeth, which all have function and purpose**. Blessings. Steven |

Without such support the ductal media could develop the abundant elastic fibers characteristic of the normal unsupported aorta and pulmonary trunk and become an abnormal, persistently patent [or open] ductus arteriosus [not a good situation].\n\nDevelopmental research shows how the RLN should be seen as a **wise mechanism, designed to provide the right supporting conditions during a baby’s development for the ductus arteriosus to form correctly**. There are multiple purposes for this nerve beyond activating the left vocal cord. Its length, location, and function all point to ingenious—not poor—design. The assertion that its position in our body is due to a remote fish ancestry is yet another colossal evolutionary blunder.\n\n**Sadly, this claim is much like the other arguments against an all-knowing Creator which have been proven false by science; such as so-called vestigial organs (supposedly useless organs) like the tonsils, appendix, and wisdom teeth, which all have function and purpose**.\n\nBlessings. No one is claiming that plastics are occurring "by themselves" in "the nature". Nature has however provided a vessel - __us__ to produce plastics to this earth. To the extent that they're everywhere now, unfortunately. We are vessel for plastics to be generated, just like DNA is to life, just like nucleotides is to RNA, just like the environment of the young earth was to nucleotides.. It all follows roughly the same pattern, they are just governed by different mechanics (engineering, natural selection, biochemistry, chemistry... ) > The experiments that you have shared with me -- are scientists trying to synthesize polymers through processes that naturally cannot occur. Yes, they can be synthesized but could never naturally evolve. But they continuously show that they can, and under which circumstances. One thing turns into another. And we know this "another" is basis for the next step, and we show how "another" then transforms into that next step. We have life figured out very close to the beginning. We just need to learn that too, just like we've done until this point. It feels like you may be stuck in a similar situation in which science was a few decades ago: https://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/0_0_0/origsoflife_06 > Earth’s atmosphere is oxidizing (i.e., oxygen rich) and naturally prohibits the spontaneous formation of biomolecules outside the protection of a living cell. Yes, Earth's atmosphere today is relative oxygen rich, but that couldn't have been the case until there were reactions that could release oxygen. Even then, that oxygen may be hard to keep free in the presence of, for example, iron: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geological_history_of_oxygen And even if we would ignore what we know of the oxygen-levels of Earth, be aware of the dynamics that give way to even more possibilities. Even in an oxygen-rich environment, we have underwater caves all around the world, which have more or less their own atmosphere. Any potential oxygen can be greatly reduced or eliminated, paving the way for reactions not possible "in the open air". Add to that the possibility of seasonal changes - be it tidal or more long term events, causing a periodic machine to produce and move different substances. Just like any other dynamics in our human experience. Be it the knowledge of the formation of stars, solar systems, galaxies, life, species, civilizations, engineering, social structures. Things change "randomly", but the constraints in any given setting statistically steer the result in some direction. Giving us a feeling of ever increasing structure (or being able to estimate/predict events that will cause a system to go unstable). |

| body | The components necessary for life can be formed only by certain chemical reactions occurring in a specific environment. Water is an **unreactive environment** for **all naturally-occurring chemicals**. In a watery environment, amino acids and nucleotides **cannot combine** to form the polymeric backbone required for proteins and DNA/RNA. In the laboratory, the only way to cause a reaction to form a polymer is to have the chemical components activated and then placed in a reactive environment. The process must be completely water-free, since the activated compounds would react with water. How could proteins and DNA/RNA be formed in some primordial, watery soup if the natural components are unreactive and if the necessary activated components cannot exist in water? |

| body | Wasn't the main point of the article exactly that? That they found nucleotides form in a water-based solution? Once again, things don't magically come into existence. The article points out that this is a plausible mechanism at work that predates RNA and DNA. The question is, what happens when all these nucleotides are around that didn't exist before? |

| body | I went to the article. This is a direct quote: The work “demonstrates how a biologically relevant structure can __spontaneously self-assemble in aqueous solution__*,” says David W. Deamer, an origins-of-life researcher at the University of California, Santa Cruz. “A similar process was likely to have occurred in the prebiotic environment as an important step toward the linear polymers that were necessary for life to begin.” __*An aqueous solution__ is a solution in which the solvent is *water*. It is usually shown in chemical equations by appending (aq) to the relevant chemical formula. For example, a solution of table salt, or sodium chloride (NaCl), in water would be represented as Na+(aq) + Cl−(aq). When speculating about the naturalistic origins of life on Earth, evolutionists run into a major paradox of basic biological chemistry: **While water is the critical medium for all life**, it also forms a **chemical barrier** to the formation of chains of nucleotides such as RNA and DNA that are the foundation of life. | body | > What I am pointing out is that evolution cannot be the cause of the origin of life. Nor does the Theory of Evolution claim so. Again, refuting a claim that has not been made does not lead to anything new. > The first proof I presented is "chirality." You never replied to my question, "How can a random chance natural process create proteins with thousands of "L" molecules, and then also create DNA with billions of "R" molecules?" I couldn't answer it to your liking for a multitude of reasons. It is a bit unfortunate that you go into great detail explaining something, and I'll have to politely raise my hand and say something along the lines of "It's great that you are going through the different species of wood and how they will not have the strength for this application.. But I'm using steel." That's not fun for me (either). I've tried to point out many times how specific mechanisms can form out of some given constraints. Evidently, the production of DNA or RNA did not just spontaneously occur from 'nothing' by a series of random events. > The answer is that random chance and natural processes cannot create proteins with thousands of "Left-handed" molecules, or create DNA with billions of "Right-handed molecules. Sure, but maybe something else than random chance can? I am not a biochemist, but I quickly looked something up for you: https://cen.acs.org/articles/94/i18/first-nucleotides-might-formed-Earth.html > When speculating about the naturalistic origins of life on Earth, evolutionists run into a major paradox of basic biological chemistry: While water is the critical medium for all life, it also forms a chemical barrier to the formation of chains of nucleotides such as RNA and DNA that are the foundation of life. In a living creature, this is not a problem because of the complex chemistry and machinery of the cell. But for the evolutionary theorist, this creates yet one more insurmountable barrier for how nucleic acids could have spontaneously formed in the first place. Again, the formation of life as we know it is the next question. Evolution is already covered and irrefutable. As I showed in the link above, when it comes to the matter of origin of life, we have a pretty good understanding of the events that 'must have' happened, and even a good idea on 'how', just no proof as to exactly where and when - which may be impossible to ever find out. We can however in the future do the next best thing and create a working chain ourselves from 'dead matter', to then start experimenting in seeing all the possible situations when this could happen in nature. > Another major impediment to life’s naturalistic origin is the atmospheric problem. Earth’s current atmosphere is oxidizing (i.e., oxygen rich) and prohibits the spontaneous formation of biomolecules outside the protection of a living cell. Incorrect, see the link. Please understand that I chose an article more or less at random to make a point. I don't know where your view/idea comes from that makes you say that what we have discovered so far is impossible. Have you considered writing a paper on it? If not - why? |

| body | Dear @jwamshop, What I am pointing out is that evolution cannot be the cause of the origin of life. The first proof I presented is "chirality." You never replied to my question, "How can a random chance natural process create proteins with thousands of "L" molecules, and then also create DNA with billions of "R" molecules?" The answer is that random chance and natural processes cannot create proteins with thousands of "Left-handed" molecules, or create DNA with billions of "Right-handed molecules. Other scientific proofs that "Abiogenesis" (the original evolution of life or living organisms from inorganic or inanimate substances) cannot occur are the **water** and **oxygen** problems: When speculating about the naturalistic origins of life on Earth, evolutionists run into a major paradox of basic biological chemistry: While water is the critical medium for all life, it also forms a **chemical barrier** to the formation of chains of nucleotides such as RNA and DNA that are the foundation of life. In a living creature, this is not a problem because of the complex chemistry and machinery of the cell. But for the evolutionary theorist, this creates yet one more insurmountable barrier for how nucleic acids could have spontaneously formed in the first place. Another major impediment to life’s naturalistic origin is the atmospheric problem. Earth’s current atmosphere is oxidizing (i.e., oxygen rich) and prohibits the spontaneous formation of biomolecules **outside the protection of a living cell**. Geological data indicate Earth’s atmosphere has always been oxidizing. Nevertheless, evolutionists maintain that for biomolecules to spontaneously form, Earth must have had a reducing atmosphere with little or no oxygen. Even assuming it did, the problem of how nucleobases, the building blocks of DNA and RNA, could have spontaneously formed is still impossible. I appreciate your time and willingness to dialogue with me in a respectful manner. Thank you, Steven Sherman @lastdays |

| body | I never said external pressure changes DNA. You still seem to confuse evolution with pre-darwinian ideas of nature "controlling" species. External pressure is what makes specific genetic mutations more desirable than others in that particular setting. Statistically speaking. I've already pointed this out multiple times. Machine learning is a practical application of this that we use daily to let a solution grow together by injecting random mutations to the model. We now have models that can, for example, detect cancer in x-rays without us understanding why. We have grown the models with the same evolutionary principle. You are claiming that evolution isn't true while the mechanism of it is true and in use in many places. So, what are exactly are you opposing? |

| body | @lostinthewoods Look at the image I showed you. Fossils, carbon dating and DNA all show this to be true. All you need to do is to show where this is not the case, and we can throw evolution out. As we haven't been able to do that even though we have mapped the relationship between a ridiculous amount of lifeforms, can you not see how extremely improbable it is for us to have constructed that chart without running into problems? I don't understand what else you require in terms of evidence, when it is already extremely overwhelming. Every science that have been used to prove it works. |

| body | Thank you for taking the time to share your understanding and belief system. Chirality is a chemical term that means handedness. Although two chemical molecules may appear to have the same elements and similar properties, they can still have different structures. When two molecules appear identical and their structures differ only by being mirror images of each other, those molecules are said to have chirality. Your left and right hands illustrate chirality. Your hands may appear to be identical, but in reality, they are only mirror images of each other, hence the term handedness. For this reason, chirality can exist as a right-handed or a left-handed molecule, and each individual molecule is called an optical isomer. What is the problem of chirality? In our bodies, proteins and DNA possess a unique 3-dimensional shape, and it is because of this 3D shape that the biochemical processes within our bodies work as they do. It is chirality that provides the unique shape for proteins and DNA, and without chirality, the biochemical processes in our bodies would not do their job. In our body, **every single amino acid of every protein is found with the same left-handed chirality**. It is a universally accepted fact of chemistry that chirality cannot be created in chemical molecules by a random process. When a random chemical reaction is used to prepare molecules having chirality, there is an equal opportunity to prepare the left-handed isomer as well as the right-handed isomer. It is a scientifically verifiable fact that a random chance process, which forms a chiral product, can only be a **50% right-handed /50% left-handed** mixture of the two optical isomers**. Let's look at chirality in proteins and DNA. Proteins are polymers of amino acids and each one of the component amino acids exists as the "L" or left-handed optical isomer. Even though the "R" or right-handed optical isomers can be synthesized in the lab, **this isomer does not exist in natural proteins**. The DNA molecule is made up of billions of complicated chemical molecules called nucleotides, and these nucleotide molecules exist as the "R" or right-handed optical isomer. The "L" isomer of nucleotides can be prepared in the lab, but they do not exist in natural DNA. There is no way that **a random chance process** could have formed these proteins and DNA with their unique chirality. If proteins and DNA were formed by chance, each and every one of the components would be a 50/50 mixture of the two optical isomers. This is not what we see in natural proteins or in natural DNA. How can a random chance natural process create proteins with thousands of "L" molecules, and then also create DNA with billions of "R" molecules? **Does this sound like random chance or a product of design?** Probability and genetics are both sciences and not some kind of conspiracy, |

| body | @lastdays In general, I would refrain putting labels on people. In the case of 'externalist', I have no idea what definition of said word would bring anything coherent into the discussion? There is no external 'will', 'power' or 'intent' that shapes any life form in 'natural selection'. > Additionally, they consider that “the environment directly instructs the organism how to vary” during adaptation. Believing that nature’s selection process operates in a way similar to human volition, externalists see nature as exercising an agency that enables it to see, select, save, and build organisms. This is simply not what Natural Selection. As I said in my previous post, and as I've already written above, nature does not instruct. Nature is. Whatever it is that gives an advantage to ultimately reproduce is what statistically survives, and that's all there is to it. What this means in practice however, can be quite complicated. Suicidal reproduction for example, is not effective in humans, as it would kill us off. But in other animals optimal, if the offspring produced is in tens or hundreds and the carcass provides nutrition for them. Of course , one could argue that few intelligent beings with what we consider 'empathy' would create anything like that, as it would be seen as 'cruel'. Nature however, "does not care", as there is no such mind to do so. > When causality is objectively determined by an approach like engineers use—one that identifies all biological elements in a process and omits mystical events There are no mystical events in Natural Selection. | body | Externalists (evolutionists) see the environment as the subject acting on an organism as an object. They view organisms as modeling clay squeezed by the hands of the environment over time via “selective pressures” that are external to, and imposed on, organisms. Additionally, they consider that “the environment directly instructs the organism how to vary” during adaptation. Believing that nature’s selection process operates in a way similar to human volition, externalists see nature as exercising an agency that enables it to see, select, save, and build organisms. Thus, nature is the cause of life’s diversity. Those trained in biology view living things through the lens of Darwin’s bold counter-perception of organisms as the objects of environmental actions. This is a natural conclusion from the notion that nature exercises selective agency to mold living things. Causality is linked to credit—or blame—for why something exists or happens. Darwin was very knowledgeable of biological-design theory and recognized this. But Darwin’s approach is not a necessity of scientific methodology and is only the expression of his naturalistic worldview. Even though his externalism projects mystical powers onto nature and invokes such expansive imagination where pots make potters and nature crafts designers, externalists must adhere to it, as Harvard geneticist Richard Lewontin candidly says, “no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated” because of their rigid commitment to naturalism. Yet another approach sensibly uses engineering principles to explain biological systems that fit patterns of design—no initiation is required. Organisms wouldn’t be viewed as passive modeling clay but seen as having engineered innate adaptability that enables them to be active, problem-solving entities. Discoveries of diverse internal mechanisms foster another new concept: Adaptation is based on a compilation of engineered systems that enable rapid growth and physiological changes to environmental cues and challenges. A design-based, organism-focused model could posit that as organisms actively travel through space-time, they continuously track environmental conditions, and their inherent capabilities express suitable traits. These features are the outworking of systems with intrinsic sensors and programmed logic that are accurately described with engineering causality—which is characterized as internal to them. When causality is objectively determined by an approach like engineers use—one that identifies all biological elements in a process and omits mystical events—the observed elements of a self-adjusting process confirm internalism and conflict with externalism. Thus, an organism’s surveillance systems seem to actively acquire data that they process into information; they aren’t “sent instructions” by the environment. Their internal programming specifies what condition will be a stimulus or a signal. An integrated sensor for that condition is the vital trigger of their response. Many responses appear to be highly targeted to specific conditions, not the hit-and-miss solutions conjectured by selectionism. Finally, these mechanisms don’t appear to be randomly implemented but are highly regulated and characterized as rapid, repeatable, and sometimes reversible. Using engineering principles , it isn't the environmental pressures that cause genetic changes over long periods of time to develop the ability for an animal to adapt (evolutionary theory). God designed each type of animal (felines, bovines, canines, etc.) with the capacity to perceive changes and activate or shut down certain genes which already existed resulting in adaptation. |

| body | Thanks for the reply, @lastdays. When you say that "they have lost the ability to absorb the antibiotic" rather than it being caused by resistant traits, wherein are you saying this capability of resisting it lies, and how did it came to be? Claiming "Variation within a species" is a bit of a fallacy, as the definition and classification of species is done by us. Humans are not dogs. But we are of the category "great apes", as well as the category of "mammals". Dogs are also part of this category, just a different branch. You already know that we have done extensive research on this in many different fields of science. Biochemistry (DNA), Archaeology, Zoology, Medicine, Chemistry (like carbon dating), all point at the same conclusion. As a result, we are able to illustrate the tree of life extensively, including species that are long gone. As an example, see this fantastic image (courtesy of "The Tree of Life Web project") http://yifanhu.net/TOL/tol_9_19_2011.jpg (Don't forget to zoom in on it! It's amazing) |

| body | Dear @jwamshop, The reason certain strains of bacteria become resistant to antibiotics is not caused by their evolving resistant traits through positive mutation. They have lost the ability to absorb the antibiotic. In any case, they have not evolved into a different microbe, they still are bacteria. this is not a case for evolution but variation within a species that keeps the life form from extinction. |

| body | [](https://dlive.io/video/jwamshop/25e2aa90-390d-11e8-8283-8f78150dfecd) Hi! I'm Janne and I built my first knife (out of a sawblade). I call it "The Mouse" as I think it looks like one. It also has a bottle-opener on the other side of the blade.. Because how would you be able to eat cheese & sausage without some beer? If you like to see more random builds like this, please like and subscribe and all that. :) My video is at [DLive](https://dlive.io/video/jwamshop/25e2aa90-390d-11e8-8283-8f78150dfecd) |

| body | Games have gotten so complicated nowadays. I watched my nephew play "Fortnite" a week ago or so. I thought he was going to run around and shoot "like normal", but for some reason he started building walls around himself, and bridges under him.. ?? A few weeks earlier, they visited me and I launched my emulators (See my post on my NES-pallet wood case!), and he couldn't play a simple game of tetris..? Or Micro Machines.. It was "too hard" for him...?? I don't understand. :) |

| body | The reason why we are running out of antibiotics is due to both the, in human terms, extremely rapid and vast generation of, well.. new generations. If we then try to kill them off, we further help the evolution of bacteria resistant to antibiotics. This makes the bacteria stronger in its current habitat, not weaker / degenerate. Exactly like all other form of evolution. Intentional cross-breeding and then inter-breeding of specific traits is not how stable life-forms are created, which is probably where you have gotten the idea of errors. Not to mention the everyday use of "genetic mutation" coupled with diseases. |
