The format of the email sent out is as shown below.\n\n \n\n“To owner of domain.com,\n\n \n\nStarting October 2017, Chrome (version 62) will show a “NOT SECURE” warning when users enter text in a form on an HTTP page, and for all HTTP pages in Incognito mode.\n\n \n\nThe following URLs on your site include text input fields (such as < input type=”text” > or < input type=”email” >) that will trigger the new Chrome warning. Review these examples to see where these warnings will appear, so that you can take action to help protect users’ data. This list is not exhaustive.\n\n \n\nGoogle email dated August 17, 2017”\n\n \n\nFurthermore, the email provided some non-secure HTTP links redirecting to contents on the recipient’s server and also a link to an article by Google which explains how to secure the site with HTTPS.\n\n \n\neBay’s Response\n\nThis however cooked up some concerns for the ecommerce giant, eBay. For users that visit the platform with Google chrome browser, the changes might possibly cause them not to proceed with completing transactions. In an announcement made by eBay, the company says:\n\n \n\n“Starting in October 2017, Google Chrome—the browser used by almost half of all eBay buyers—will begin displaying the message “Not Secure” in the address window when users visit standard HTTP pages, and HTTPS pages that include nonsecure HTTP content. eBay believes that the “Not Secure” message may deter shoppers from buying and impact your conversion rate. eBay is taking steps to make sure that your buyers won’t see this message and can access your listings securely.”\n\n \n\nImproving the ease of transaction is the reason why eBay is discharging active content. With this change in security policy by google, it’s looking likely that it will undo the efforts made by eBay. To prevent the loss of sales because of the “Not secure” notification, eBay is making some changes to how your listings are displayed to customers.\n\n \n\nFor listings with HTTP content, the mobile experience will remain unchanged. However, for buyers viewing your listings on a desktop, a key snippet feature will be displayed. In addition to that, there will be a button with a caption “See full item description”. When clicked through, the buyer will be able to see the full description of your items. For items which are already HTTPS-compliant, the full description will be displayed as usual.\n\n \n\nThe company is also working with third-party providers to make sure that they are ready for what’s coming. They will be providing an option to remove HTTP from listings in bulk.\n\n \n\nOur advice\n\nAs this change is inevitable, it will be in your best interest to edit your listings and remove HTTP content from them. You should be on high alert because eBay will soon send emails to sellers that have HTTP contents. You can check the eBay’s Seller Center for further guidance on how to update your listings. However, the city doesn’t have the capacity to support this growth which is why the company is on the hunt for a second headquarters, tagged as HQ2.\n\n \n\nAccording to Amazon, the new headquarters will be a “full equal” of the present base in Seattle. In the bid to achieve this, Amazon is searching for a city that has “the presence and support of a diverse population”, “a strong university system” and “an overall high quality of life”. The e-commerce giant is asking that the city the new HQ will be located be easily accessible in terms of transportation, including airports. And also, the city to provide incentives like tax credits, fee reductions, relocation grants and more.\n\n \n\nAccording to reports, the second HQ is expected to be a 5 billion dollars facility and create as much as 50k jobs. This is obviously of great benefits to any city that wins the bid and unsurprisingly, many cities in the US and Canada want to be the second home of Amazon. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon says: “Amazon HQ2 will bring billions of dollars in upfront and ongoing investments, and tens of thousands of high-paying jobs. We’re excited to find a second home.” The company has created a web page that explains the details of what they are looking for in the city.\n\n \n\nAs cities compete for the opportunity to be chosen as Amazon’s second headquarter home, Stonecrest, a town in the suburbs of Atlanta Georgia has come up with an interesting offer. The town has offered to change its name to Amazon if the retail giant decides to set up the second headquarters there.\n\n \n\nAccording to local media, the city council and mayor of Stonecrest, Georgia voted 4 to 2 on Monday to change its name to Amazon, Georgia and give the company 345 acres of land if Amazon selects it as the HQ destination. The mayor, Jason Lary said: “There are several major U.S. cities that want Amazon, but none has the branding opportunity we are now offering this visionary company.” Georgia doesn’t exactly have the same tone as say, Toyota City in Japan (headquarters to Toyota Motors). However, the offer put forward to Amazon by the city is definitely unique (and maybe desperate).\n\n \n\nAnd this is exactly the kind of sweet proposal Amazon probably wants to hear. As part of the incentives requested by Amazon, this is definitely an added benefit for the company. Stonecrest was formed just last year.       "body": "As the campaign of EU authorities against deals that assists largest companies cut down on tax bills progresses, Amazon has been requested to reimburse €250m (£222m) in illegal state aid to Luxembourg.\n\n \n\nThe EU commissioner in charge of competition, Margrethe Vestager, said that Luxembourg’s “illegal tax advantages to Amazon” had permitted just about seventy-five percent of the organization’s benefits to go untaxed, enabling it to pay four times less tax than local competitors.\n\n \n\nVestager said: “This is about competition in Europe, no matter your flag, no matter your ownership,” disregarding the insinuation that she was focusing on non-European organizations. “Paying taxes is part of doing business in Europe,” she added.\n\n \n\nMany politicians and business groups in Europe argue that the open-handed tax gaps give Amazon an unjust advantage over the competition. This was what led to the latest announcement of a plan to change the EU tax rules.\n\n \n\nThe commission said Amazon had profited from an illicit tax deal granted by the authorities of Luxembourg, which enabled the company to falsely lessen its tax bill from 2006 to 2014 by €250m. The e-commerce giant has been requested to reimburse everything, interest included.\n\n \n\nAnd of course, Amazon dismissed the discoveries of the investigation of the commission. The company said: “We believe that Amazon did not receive any special treatment from Luxembourg and that we paid tax in full accordance with both Luxembourg and international tax law. We will study the commission’s ruling and consider our legal options, including an appeal.”\n\nLuxembourg’s government also commented: “As Amazon has been taxed in accordance with the tax rules applicable at the relevant time, Luxembourg considers that the company has not been granted incompatible state aid.”\n\n \n\nThis case against Amazon is focused on the two Amazon’s subsidiaries located in Luxembourg, the Amazon Europe Holding Technologies and Amazon EU group. The commission described the former as “an empty shell” with no offices or employees but was used to reduce the tax bill of the company.\n\n \n\nAmazon’s blueprint was Project Goldcrest, a tax scheme named after the national bird of Luxembourg, based on a deal with authorities in the Grand Duchy in 2003. In June 2014, Amazon changed its tax operations, which was a year after Brussels began investigating tax rulings across the EU.\n\n \n\nUS authorities have also been investigating Project Goldcrest but lost in court to the retail firm. In March a court ruled against the Internal Revenue Service, which had argued Amazon owed the US $1.5bn (£1.13bn) in unpaid taxes linked to its Luxembourg companies.\n\n \n\nAlso, Amazon is not the only company hit by this new development, the EU commission has ruled unlawful tax deals between Starbucks and the Dutch authorities, as well as Fiat’s arrangements with Luxembourg.\n\n \n\nThe funny thing, however, is that Jean-Claude Juncker (the present EU Commission president) was the Prime minister of Luxembourg between 1995 and 2013. During most of that time, he also served as the finance minister, which made him an official, making the tax arrangements possible. Now, he is the one heading the organization that is condemning the same deals he helped make.",
