After trying so many different things I finally found the one place where I thought I fit in and thouroughly enjoyed the whole.\n\nSo what do I do? Well I create art in small scale and have fun while doing so, some pieces can be played with, others not really, however, they all get my full attention from the moment where I start visualizing the piece on my head all the way to the end.\n\nIs that all? Not by a long shot, I´ve also decided to share my knowledge with other people so I created a group here in Costa Rica called \"Pintando Minis\" (painting miniatures), which is a community for miniature painters where we can share our work and help out each other, but most importantly, we provide free monthly classes to anyone who wants to start in this.  So far, with got over 300 people (250 costaricans and 50 from outside), and it's an interesting mix of artists, gamers, painters, sculpters, LEGO Lovers, geeks and just passionate people.\n\nA couple of years ago I started competing in the local IPMS competition, showcasing my works and garnering a lot of good feedback so after making good friends over there, I was asked to joined them this past January and take my work to Guatemala.  Back in Costa Rica, I was asked by the guys to show them how to paint figures, so this year I have another round of workshops to provide on a monthly basis to history buffs.\n\n\n\nNot being one to sit iddle, I started working with my good friend Errol Ramírez last year and we´ve launched the Red Beard brand producing first scenery and accesories, but with our sights set in making figures soon.\n\n![ca.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRt3BQH5RLsxEwuzdiQ4aoiSuMPYuLz6pNvxTJT6K5AtZ/ca.png)\n\nWhat's next?       "body": "El día no podía ser más caluroso en este infierno que llaman Andalucía, tan lejos de todo lo que conozco, jamás había caminado tanto para ver tan poco y hoy estoy acá siguiendo el mismo llamado del Emperador que hace unos años me hizo ponerme a los pies de la gloria; esa que solo los ricos tendrán con sus caballos y sirvientes y hasta sus malditos modales, aún acá en plena guerra.\n\nNosotros, los voluntarios habíamos llegado buscando un cambio, una nueva vida lejos de esa pobreza y aburrimiento que era lo único que conocíamos, con un sueño de gloria y honor o aunque fuera con la ilusión de poder conseguir unos cuantos francos para volver y empezar una familia que no viviera en la misma miseria mía, sin padre y una madre que todo el día vociferaba mientras le ayudaba en su puesto del mercado y mis hermanos todos peleaban entre sí.\n\nYo Cesar Martin, proveniente de madre y  muerto, contaba ya con tres años de servicio al Emperador, sirviendo en la Grande Armeé como voltigeur, miembro de una compañía de infantería ligera.  Si bien al inicio habíamos sido los ciento veinte mejores tiradores del batallón ya para hoy éramos acaso unos ochenta y cada día que pasaba me parecía disminuíamos los que estábamos en el segundo puesto de la fila al formarse el batallón.\n\nMaldito calor, este que parecía ser el día más caluroso de nuestra campaña sin duda se sentía como estar a las puertas del infierno y si mi paso por estos parajes, llenos de estas pobres villas blancas de agricultores, algo me había mostrado es que justo era eso, un infierno en el que cual los compañeros desaparecían en el medio de la nada, ahí donde no había nadie más y aparecían a los días colgados de los árboles.\n\nConforme el día pasa mi memoria me lleva de vuelta a París, a aquella ciudad de gentes e indigentes, donde solo en la noche se puede ver en todo su esplendor, porque la oscuridad oculta todo lo que como yo era indeseable.  Escucho la voz de nuestro capitán, ese veterano de cruentas guerras y sangrientas hazañas, llamándonos a formarnos en fila para entrar en este pueblecito infernal que a tan solo unos quinientos metros del campamento nos espera, y toda memoria de casa se desvanece.\n\nSe escuchan rumores entre los soldados, tal parece que esos malditos dragones con sus armas y corceles no lograron abrirse paso por esa pequeña villa, desprovista de soldados ya que estos había huido al notar nuestra presencia para ser sorprendidos por nuestros exploradores y dar al traste con su deshonrosa huida.  Resultan ridículas las noticias, los dragones perdidos en ese pueblo de agricultores, mujeres y niños pero tal parece no son humanos de esta tierra sino demonios enardecidos por la cólera de haber sido abandonados y hoy se lanzaron con todos sus trastos sobre esos idiotas engreídos de los dragones.\n\nPasada la media tarde suenan los instrumentos y empezamos a marchar, con dirección hacia ese pequeño y maldito pueblo, si creyera en Dios le pediría su protección porque nunca había tenido esos sueños y escalofríos como aquí, donde despertaba creyendo estar colgando de un árbol, exhalando mi último aliento mientras veía mis vísceras desenrollarse hasta el suelo.\n\nOtro grito y comienza la marcha, lenta y ordenada, por fin veo un pueblo de considerable tamaño, tal vez unos tres mil habitantes, un pueblo que al final no estaba tan desierto como los demás que hemos cruzado a través del Camino Real ni mucho menos poblado por esos ojos, todos rojos, llenos de rabia y locura esperando detrás de cada ventana, agrupados, temblorosos y nerviosos.\n\nEn poco tiempo, llegamos a la entrada del pueblo, una simple villa blanca que nos espera en nuestro camino interminable de batallas y contiendas, se tensan mis músculos y siento cada vena salirse, la concentración es suprema en esta columna de chaquetas azules, chevrones dorados y shakos negros, todos atentos examinando el pueblo con nuestra mirada y escogiendo los primeros blancos.\n\nEntramos al pueblo caminando, cada paso de nuestras botas hacía subir una nube de polvo que llegaba mi boca donde ya cargaba la bala para la próxima carga de mi fusil, mientras que el sudor bajaba desde la visera del shako hasta la barbilla, el mosquete levantado y apoyado contra mi hombro derecho.\n\nEscucho los quejidos de algunos hombres que yacían malheridos o moribundos en el suelo, mientras los caballos andan desbocados por el pequeño pueblo y desde todos lados nos empiezan a llover cuanto traste y objeto haya, una nube blanca se mezcla con el polvo y solo veo los centelleos de los mosquetes disparando en medio de esta confusión, sin saber a quién se dispara.\n\n¿Qué es lo que pasa y por qué me despierto en el suelo?  Escucho una trompeta y los gritos de retirada, sigo sin entender nada pero jamás podría creer que nos retiraríamos de este pueblo como cobardes.  Me duele la cabeza, siento la nuca mojada, ¿será acaso sangre o agua hirviente que han vertido sobre mí?\n\nMe incorporo, ni mis piernas ni mis brazos duelen, solo mi cabeza así que trato de levantarme lentamente, una ligera sensación de mareo me invade, estiro mi brazo derecho para apoyarme en la pared de la casa de la que estoy afuera.  De repente, salto recordando el peligro de que algo más me caiga encima.\n\nEstaba en medio de una escena infernal y lastimera, un cuerpo profesional y veterano diezmado por hombres, niños y mujeres, todos ellos seres infernales cuya rabia no conocía igual.  Claro que morían muchos de los suyos y se les veía tirados sobre la calle y los marcos de las ventanas, pero aún así no dejaban de pelear y aún así habían logrado hacer espantar al resto de mi compañía y no dudo que pronto el resto de los batallones que nos esperaban fuera de ahí prenderían fuego a toda esta villa para borrarla de la existencia por una vez y si no salía de ahí pronto, sería consumido por las llamas en medio de este infierno para ser borrado como parte de esta vergüenza del Emperador.\n\nAl frente mío, a una distancia no mayor a los veinte pasos veía salir un pequeño grupo de hombres que terminaban de recargar sus armas dentro de una casa, giré la cabeza para buscar un refugio mientras sentía cada vez más mojada la nuca, seguro que era sangre la que me recorría y no tenía tiempo para apreciar la herida ni para recoger nada más que mi mosquete y correr a la primera puerta abierta que encontré.\n\nEntré en una habitación a oscuras, ya la tarde había caído,  solo alcancé a ver una mesa tirada y unas escaleras hacia un piso superior.  Mientras tanto, desde fuera se escuchaba el bullicio de la calle y los gritos de los hombres que seguramente me habían visto.  No divisaba ninguna puerta trasera pero si quería vivir un poco más tendría que encontrar una forma de salir de allí antes que me cazaran como una rata.\n\nCorrí hasta las gradas, las cuales subí apresuradamente y casi llegando al segundo piso tropecé en mi carrera en una grada, mi cuerpo se abalanzó hacia delante mientras pude estirar mi pierna izquierda y evitar caer sobre el suelo justo a tiempo.\n\nTembloroso y acelerado, con la respiración fuerte, el cuerpo lleno de sudor y la sangre corriendo ahora hasta mi espalda me incorporé sobre mis dos pies, levantando la mirada pude ver el cuerpo de una mujer que yacía muerta con una olla en su mano, la oscuridad no me permitía detallar cómo había muerto pero eso no importaba, solo ocupaba darme vuelta y prepararme para enfrentar a mis cazadores, cuyas voces ya escuchaba dentro del primer piso y sin duda dentro de poco los tendría frente a mí.\n\nTratando de controlar el pulso y avisar lo que fuera que venía hacia mí, apunté mi mosquete que aún no había disparado hoy; escuché unos pasos precipitados subir por las escaleras, la madera crujió cerca de mí, una cara apenas apareció y jalé el gatillo al tiempo que el percutor se activaba y la pólvora de la cazoleta se incendiaba gracias a una chispa, para luego quemar la del cañón y así finalmente expulsar la bala redonda.\n\nSe escuchó un estruendo dentro de aquella pequeña habitación y por un momento, no podía ver nada entre la pólvora y la oscuridad en que me encontraba, esperaba ahora lo que viniera por delante con la bayoneta empuñada y lista para abrir a quien más se asomara por esas gradas.  Pero sentí un repentino dolor en la parte de atrás de mi costado izquierdo, una puñalada por la espalda ¿pero cómo era capaz si solo había una mujer muerta en este piso?\n\nCaí retorcido de dolor sobre mis rodillas, sosteniendo mi mosquete con la mano derecha y apoyándolo en el suelo, mientras la mano izquierda me la llevé sobre mi herida y volví a ver hacia atrás para descubrir a un niño de unos doce años con un cuchillo ensangrentado en sus manos y una mirada perdida en su cara.\n\nDos hombres toscos y sencillos habían subido ya las gradas, vestidos con pantalones coloridos y camisas blancas, sacaba uno una cuerda para amarrarme las manos detrás de mi espalda mientras el otro me pateaba las costillas y gritaba cosas que no entendía.\n\nAhora sí, caí acostado al suelo y mi boca se llenaba de sangre en tanto yo solo sentía ira por no poder defenderme como un hombre, siendo acosado por este salvaje que no dejaba de patearme las costillas.\n\nMe tomaron de los brazos para arrastrarme hacia abajo, traté de caminar mientras bajaba las gradas pero la rapidez con que me llevaban y la baja altura a la que me llevaban me lo impedía.  De vuelta al primer piso, me arrojaron por la puerta y caí en la calle donde pude ver a muchos de mis valientes compañeros heridos e inconscientes perder la vida al momento que una navaja se posaba en su cuello y una mano les jalaba la cabeza hacia atrás.\n\nHasta ese momento temí realmente por morir, no había forma en que pudiera ya defenderme, mi cuerpo estaba mojado y ahora no era solo por el sudor de ese maldito calor que había hecho todo el día, sino también por la sangre que con tanta facilidad abandonaba mi cuerpo.  Mi determinación por vivir era grande como siempre, pero mis fuerzas me fallaban y estimé poco el tiempo restante para ser degollado vilmente.\n\nPara mi sorpresa, fui puesto de pie y observando alrededor pude ver que el fuego invadía rápidamente la villa, ya no había salvación para mí ni para mis captores pero según veía estaban decididos a cometer cuanta atrocidad pudieran en el poco tiempo que les quedaba.\n\nSentí que alguien vino por detrás y me puso una soga que bajaba por mi cara y ajustaba alrededor de mi garganta, mientras otro más se acercó para rajarme el estómago de un solo con una bayoneta que había tomado de alguno de mis compañeros.  Me empujaron unos pasos hacia delante hasta dar con un árbol adonde observé a un hombre tirar el otro extremo de la cuerda, que tenía pequeña roca amarrada, sobre el alto brazo del árbol.\n\nLa cuerda llegó al suelo, el mismo hombre tomo ese extremo de nuevo y fue adonde habían otros cinco más y entre todos empezaron a jalar con fuerza la cuerda, la soga se tensó en mi cuello y luego la sentí presionar mi manzana de Adán contra mi quijada al tiempo que me subían por los aires, no podía respirar y solo sentía la sangre caliente llenar mis pulmones, abrí lo más que pude los ojos para ver hacia abajo, para verlos reír cuando ya yo no podía más y mis vísceras llegaban hasta el suelo.\n\n———–fin———–![dscn5186_dphdr-2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYiYRkYx6vBpfZHJRWEM567dZtCH46sAYbTov7yiS3ugV/dscn5186_dphdr-2.jpg)",

      "body": "Muy buenas, soy un poeta costarricense bajo el nombre de pluma de Manuel Fernández y estoy acá para compartir mi pasión y el trabajo que he venido desarrollando por los último cinco años.\n\nEscribir siempre ha sido una necesidad, tal vez porque soy introvertido, tal vez porque sea la única forma en que sepa expresarme pero la verdad, es que lo vengo haciendo desde los doce años y hoy se han convertido en mi válvula de escape, a la que recurro cuando siento que voy a estallar.\n\nAlgo curioso, es que en mi cabeza estas son letras de canciones para la banda sonora de mi vida; me inspiro a teclear con la música rápida de un punkrock o emo, y plasmo lo que no soy capaz de decir con mis boca.\n\nPor mucho tiempo, lo mantuve secreto, en libros y cuadernos, hojas por todo lado pero al final dije debo compartir y externar esto, participé en un concurso virtual de cuentos y me encantó la recepción que tuve por lo que abrí mi blog de poesía y he estado escribiendo desde entonces.\n\nhttps://fernandezmanuel.wordpress.com\n\nA veces pensaba, en que no debía escribir cosas muy personales, tal vez la gente se daría cuenta pero resulta que ya a mi alrededor, nadie las lee; así que me siento más libre en lo que pongo, al final, sin interés ¿cómo se van a dar cuenta?\n\nLo que me interesa de Steemit es poder compartir mis trabajos y llegar a una audiencia nueva; escribo poesía y cuentos, algún día tendré mi novela.
