| title | VR Rollercoaster comes to Norwich |
| body | Virgin Holidays have opened a new £450k V-Room store in Intu Chapelfield Norwich, with a virtual reality roller coaster and a cocktail bar for customers to experience. The new V-Room is located on the ground floor of the shopping centre, and is designed to match the style of a luxurious airport lounge. The VR roller coaster takes customers on a ride through the roof of Intu Chapelfield, the Las Vegas strip and a trip into space (passing a Virgin Galactic spacecraft.) The store uses two Oculus Rift headsets for the VR roller coaster, with some rather comfy bucket seats, giving customers a very satisfactory experience! Joe Thompson, Managing Director of Virgin Holidays, says: “We’re proud to unveil our first v-room in East Anglia – representing a £450k investment in Norwich, and bringing the holiday experience alive for customers before they depart. “Holidays are some of the most precious moments we share with loved ones, and we want to immerse customers in that feeling from the moment they set foot inside our v-room. Our new store helps inspire customers by bringing the sights, sounds and tastes of their holiday right here to Norwich. “We know today’s customers expect much more than a package holiday – they want a unique experience. Our expert team in Norwich can tailor each trip by combining our worldwide network of hotels and flights with over 300 experiences including helicopter rides, personal shopping trips, surfing lessons, and safaris.” Sheridan Smith, marketing manager at intu Chapelfield, said: “We’re very excited that Virgin Holidays have decided to locate their v-room store within intu Chapelfield and I’m particularly looking forward to trying out the virtual rollercoaster. We’re in constant dialogue with a range of national, local and international brands to ensure that we continue to offer the people of Norfolk a vibrant retail and leisure mix. The Virgin Holidays v-room store will provide our shoppers with a fabulous way to get into the holiday spirit; even before they’ve booked their trip.” For customers wanting to try before they fly, there’s a selection of Virgin Atlantic’s aircraft seats in store to experience for themselves, along with a children’s play area. The new store has also created nine new jobs in the city. https://youtu.be/FVt8eHJeOWU For VR enthusiasts in Norwich, this is exciting news, since there aren’t many places to experience virtual reality in the city. Belong Norwich, Back of the Inns offers customers the chance to experience the HTC Vive and Playstation VR headsets in store for £2.00 (Single VR experience) and £5.00 (10 minute VR experience.) There are also 23 playable PC, Xbox One S and PS4 Pro stations to try out, and regularly hosts gaming tournaments. Other retailers such as Carphone Warehouse, have Samsung Galaxy VR and Google Daydream headsets in store to try before you buy. The store uses two Oculus Rift headsets for the VR roller coaster, with some rather comfy bucket seats, giving customers a very satisfactory experience! Other retailers such as Carphone Warehouse, have Samsung Galaxy VR and Google Daydream headsets in store to try before you buy. | body | Glad you enjoyed the review. I actually do have a model from pckeyboard.com, so it is what I am currently using. It's a great keyboard: top shelf. But it is not as good as the original: not as heavy, materials not as nice, not as rigid. Overall quality and feel not as good as the original, but it's a damned fine reproduction. |

| title | Yaw VR Compact – The Portable Motion Simulator For Your Headset |
| body | Meet the Yaw VR Compact, a portable motion simulator seat for your headset. Shown at CES last week and now running a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign, The Yaw VR Compact is ideal for cockpit-based VR experiences like Dirt Rally, Euro Truck Simulator 2 or Flight Simulator X. Yaw is designed for use with all types of VR platforms like PlayStation VR, Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Go as well as standard PC games. In addition Yaw is open source, so you can develop your own software even for a completely new usecase. The dome-shaped device is set up to instead resemble a dish that rests in a stand, with three supports that are able to spin and tilt the dish with three degrees of freedom (3DOF). The stand also houses a mini-PC that wirelessly communicates with your platform of choice. The seat also comes with an adjustable pedal and steering wheel or joystick holders for flight and racing simulators. https://youtu.be/G60vmpaIhV4 ## **Pricing and Availability** If you would like to get your hands on one of the Yaw VR seats, you can be one of the first to do so, by paying for the Yaw VR Early Bird edition on Kickstarter for a costly sum of $890 (about £645.) The standard edition goes for $1,190 (about £863.) The special edition, meanwhile, which allows customers to customize the colour and have their name embroidered on it, starts at $1,190 (about £863) for Early Bird and $1,340 (about £972) once those slots are gone. The Yaw VR is expected to ship in August 2018, once the kickstarter goal of £108.765 has been reached. It has already gathered £51.407 at the time of writing, and has 36 days to go to reach its target. Shown at CES last week and now running a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign, The Yaw VR Compact is ideal for cockpit-based VR experiences like Dirt Rally, Euro Truck Simulator 2 or Flight Simulator X.\n\nYaw is designed for use with all types of VR platforms like PlayStation VR, Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Go as well as standard PC games. In addition Yaw is open source, so you can develop your own software even for a completely new usecase.\n\nThe dome-shaped device is set up to instead resemble a dish that rests in a stand, with three supports that are able to spin and tilt the dish with three degrees of freedom (3DOF). The stand also houses a mini-PC that wirelessly communicates with your platform of choice. The seat also comes with an adjustable pedal and steering wheel or joystick holders for flight and racing simulators.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/G60vmpaIhV4\n\n## **Pricing and Availability** \n\nIf you would like to get your hands on one of the Yaw VR seats, you can be one of the first to do so, by paying for the Yaw VR Early Bird edition on Kickstarter for a costly sum of $890 (about £645.) The standard edition goes for $1,190 (about £863.) The special edition, meanwhile, which allows customers to customize the colour and have their name embroidered on it, starts at $1,190 (about £863) for Early Bird and $1,340 (about £972) once those slots are gone.\n\nThe Yaw VR is expected to ship in August 2018, once the kickstarter goal of £108.765 has been reached. It has already gathered £51.407 at the time of writing, and has 36 days to go to reach its target.\n\nIf you would like to back this project on Kickstarter, then visit: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/346206518/yaw-vr-compact-portable-motion-simulator/description \n\nFor all of the latest in the VR industry, make sure to visit http://vr-now.co.uk/\n\nWritten by: **Jordan Ewbank**\n\nPhoto credit: **Kickstarter**",

| title | HTC Announces the Vive Pro |
| body | HTC has announced a new and improved pro version of their VR Headset, along with upgrades to the Vive VR Software. The Vive Pro is aimed towards VR enthusiasts and enterprise users who want the best display and audio for their VR experiences. ## **Improved Display** For starters – the Vive Pro now has a Dual-OLED display for a crisp picture resolution of 2880 x 1600 combined, a 78% increase in resolution over the existing Vive’s 2160 x 1200 resolution. Also the sub-pixels have disappeared (the little red, green, and blue dots that mix together to make white, and every other color you see) and is challenging to make out whole pixels now, which is a good improvement over the original. ## **Improved Ergonomics** HTC has clearly been listening to feedback about the ergonomics of the original Vive, and the new VR headset now includes a sizing dial at the back so you can adjust the comfort level accordingly. The new chassis evenly distributes the weight of the device to achieve an optimal centre of gravity – making it feel more comfy to wear on your head. https://youtu.be/DPMJDXmYwiY ## **Headset Specs** Screen: Dual AMOLED 3.5″ diagonal Resolution: 1440 x 1600 pixels per eye (2880 x 1600 pixels combined) Refresh rate: 90 Hz Field of view: 110 degrees Audio: Hi-Res certificate headset Hi-Res certificate headphone (removable) High impedance headphone support Input: Integrated microphones Connections: USB-C 3.0, DP 1.2, Bluetooth Sensors: SteamVR Tracking, G-sensor, gyroscope, proximity, IPD sensor Ergonomics: Eye relief with lens distance adjustment Adjustable IPD Adjustable headphone Adjustable headstrap ## **Built-in Headphones** The Vive Pro comes with built-in headphones, with integrated 3D spatial audio to deliver immersive audio. The headphones are also detachable, for if you don’t wish to use them. On the back of the left headphone is a pair of volume up/down buttons for easily adjusting the volume without having to go into the SteamVR menu. There is a mute button on the back of the right headphone, which makes it easier to mute yourself when talking to someone outside of the headset. ## **Dual cameras** The original Vive only had one camera, but now there are now two cameras on the Vive Pro. Users should now get a wider field of view for pass-through, and the view can be 3D as well, which could make the difference in user traction, thanks to stereo for making it easier to interact with the real world. ## **The Vive goes Wireless** At CES this year, HTC announced alongside the new Vive Pro an optional Wireless adapter for both the existing Vive and Vive Pro, which has been on every VR user’s wish list since the technology was unveiled. The Vive Wireless Adapter features Intel’s WiGig technology, that operates in the interference-free 60Ghz band, which means lower latency and better performance. The Wireless adapter will ship in Q3 this year to customers worldwide. ## **Price and Availability** We have yet to be given a price for the Vive pro, however we expect this to cost a lot more than the original Vive, which currently costs £599.99. It has already begun selling the ‘Vive Business Edition’ for £1,099.98 – so we expect it to cost around £800-£900 to buy. HTC says they’ll share more specifics about availability and pricing of the Vive Pro later this year. | title | Google Cardboard Review |
| body | I’ve just recently purchased my own second-generation VR Viewer from Morrisons for only £4.75 (yes that’s right under £5.00!) off the shelf. I thought it would be a great idea to share my experience with Google Cardboard, and write a review for anyone interested in buying one. Setting it up was relatively simple, the instructions were included in the box, and some diagrams for piecing it all together was also printed onto the cardboard. Once the unit was constructed together, I downloaded the Google Cardboard app (Free on iOS and Android) and paired the VR Viewer with my iPhone using a QR code at the bottom of the headset. Afterwards, I launched the Google Cardboard app, selected the demo, placed my phone into the back of the viewer and started using it. There are 5 demos to choose from in the menu, which you can navigate towards by tilting your head, and selecting them by using the built in capacitive button. The demos included with the Google Cardboard app are the Tutorial, Explorer, Exhibit, Urban Hike, Kaleidoscope and Arctic Journey. Each demo offers an immersive experience, which lets you explore around and interact with the objects in front of you. My favourite demo would have to be the Arctic Journey – it truly shows the full potential of Google Cardboard and what developers can do with this platform. The Explorer demo shows you around some of the best tourist attractions, and also around the surface of Mars through the Mars Spirit Rover. Exhibit showcases some 3D art; Urban Hike is a cut down version of Google Street view (for the purposes of VR) and the Kaleidoscope is extremely trippy! My only criticisms with Google Cardboard is that there isn’t a lot of VR apps for the platform, the quality is not the best and there’s no headstrap or padding (unless you add these on later yourself.) Overall, I think Google Cardboard is the best solution for anyone wanting to step into Virtual Reality for the first time, without having to spend lots of money on a VR Headset. You have the option to either build your own VR Viewer by using the instructions online provided by Google, or buy a pre-built one – if you don’t want the hassle of making your own. If you decide later on that you would like to upgrade to something slightly better, then I would suggest getting a Samsung Galaxy VR or a Google Daydream headset for Android users. Unfortunately for iOS users – Apple isn’t interested in making a VR Headset, so your best option would be to get a Zeiss VR One Plus Headset for your iPhone. Here is the link if you want to check it out: https://www.pckeyboard.com/ Hopefully if it's any good, might be worth picking one up and trying it out. Would be great to see you write a comparison between them both, and see how well it matches up to the original Model M! Also I've upvoted your post, and have followed you! :) |

| title | Blade Runner: Revelations is coming to Google Daydream |
| body | Alcon Media Group has announced a partnership with Google and Lenovo at CES 2018, Las Vegas to bring Blade Runner: Revelations to the Google Daydream VR platform. Seismic Games, who acquired mixed reality specialists Grue Games in 2016 will be developing the new Blade Runner adventure game. In this new narrative adventure, players assume the role of Harper, a seasoned Blade Runner who “unravels a twisted replicant plot that threatens the delicate balance of Los Angeles in 2023.” According to the press release, players will “search for evidence with the help of their flying spinner, deadly blaster, and esper image reconstruction to try to solve the mystery in an immersive VR environment.” Blade Runner: Revelations is optimised for WorldSense, a new six degrees of freedom (6DOF) positional tracking system developed by Google, which can be found in upcoming standalone devices such as the Lenovo Mirage Solo. The game uses WorldSense to let you duck, dodge and lean, and step backwards, forwards and side to side, unlocking new gameplay elements that bring the world of Blade Runner to life. While the game is compatible with all Daydream device, it is said to be “best experienced” on the Lenovo Mirage Solo, which is the first mobile VR Standalone headset using the Daydream VR Platform. Blade Runner: Revelations is expected to be released in Spring 2018, alongside the Mirage Solo headset. | title | VR Rollercoaster comes to Norwich |
| body | Virgin Holidays have opened a new £450k V-Room store in Intu Chapelfield Norwich, with a virtual reality roller coaster and a cocktail bar for customers to experience. Other retailers such as Carphone Warehouse, have Samsung Galaxy VR and Google Daydream headsets in store to try before you buy. | title | HTC Announces the Vive Pro |
| body | HTC has announced a new and improved pro version of their VR Headset, along with upgrades to the Vive VR Software. The Vive Pro is aimed towards VR enthusiasts and enterprise users who want the best display and audio for their VR experiences. Improved Display For starters – the Vive Pro now has a Dual-OLED display for a crisp picture resolution of 2880 x 1600 combined, a 78% increase in resolution over the existing Vive’s 2160 x 1200 resolution. Also the sub-pixels have disappeared (the little red, green, and blue dots that mix together to make white, and every other color you see) and is challenging to make out whole pixels now, which is a good improvement over the original. Improved Ergonomics HTC has clearly been listening to feedback about the ergonomics of the original Vive, and the new VR headset now includes a sizing dial at the back so you can adjust the comfort level accordingly. The new chassis evenly distributes the weight of the device to achieve an optimal centre of gravity – making it feel more comfy to wear on your head. https://youtu.be/DPMJDXmYwiY Headset Specs Screen: Dual AMOLED 3.5″ diagonal Resolution: 1440 x 1600 pixels per eye (2880 x 1600 pixels combined) Refresh rate: 90 Hz Field of view: 110 degrees Audio: Hi-Res certificate headset Hi-Res certificate headphone (removable) High impedance headphone support Input: Integrated microphones Connections: USB-C 3.0, DP 1.2, Bluetooth Sensors: SteamVR Tracking, G-sensor, gyroscope, proximity, IPD sensor Ergonomics: Eye relief with lens distance adjustment Adjustable IPD Adjustable headphone Adjustable headstrap Built-in Headphones The Vive Pro comes with built-in headphones, with integrated 3D spatial audio to deliver immersive audio. Dual cameras The original Vive only had one camera, but now there are now two cameras on the Vive Pro. Users should now get a wider field of view for pass-through, and the view can be 3D as well, which could make the difference in user traction, thanks to stereo for making it easier to interact with the real world. The Vive goes Wireless At CES this year, HTC announced alongside the new Vive Pro an optional Wireless adapter for both the existing Vive and Vive Pro, which has been on every VR user’s wish list since the technology was unveiled. The Vive Wireless Adapter features Intel’s WiGig technology, that operates in the interference-free 60Ghz band, which means lower latency and better performance. The Wireless adapter will ship in Q3 this year to customers worldwide. Price and Availability We have yet to be given a price for the Vive pro, however we expect this to cost a lot more than the original Vive, which currently costs £599.99.
I thought it would be a great idea to share my experience with Google Cardboard, and write a review for anyone interested in buying one.\n\nSetting it up was relatively simple, the instructions were included in the box, and some diagrams for piecing it all together was also printed onto the cardboard. Once the unit was constructed together, I downloaded the Google Cardboard app (Free on iOS and Android) and paired the VR Viewer with my iPhone using a QR code at the bottom of the headset. Afterwards, I launched the Google Cardboard app, selected the demo, placed my phone into the back of the viewer and started using it.\n\n\n\nThere are 5 demos to choose from in the menu, which you can navigate towards by tilting your head, and selecting them by using the built in capacitive button.\n\nThe demos included with the Google Cardboard app are the Tutorial, Explorer, Exhibit, Urban Hike, Kaleidoscope and Arctic Journey. Each demo offers an immersive experience, which lets you explore around and interact with the objects in front of you.\n\nMy favourite demo would have to be the Arctic Journey – it truly shows the full potential of Google Cardboard and what developers can do with this platform. The Explorer demo shows you around some of the best tourist attractions, and also around the surface of Mars through the Mars Spirit Rover. Exhibit showcases some 3D art; Urban Hike is a cut down version of Google Street view (for the purposes of VR) and the Kaleidoscope is extremely trippy!\n\n\n\nMy only criticisms with Google Cardboard is that there isn’t a lot of VR apps for the platform, the quality is not the best and there’s no headstrap or padding (unless you add these on later yourself.)\n\nOverall, I think Google Cardboard is the best solution for anyone wanting to step into Virtual Reality for the first time, without having to spend lots of money on a VR Headset. You have the option to either build your own VR Viewer by using the instructions online provided by Google, or buy a pre-built one – if you don’t want the hassle of making your own.\n\nIf you decide later on that you would like to upgrade to something slightly better, then I would suggest getting a Samsung Galaxy VR or a Google Daydream headset for Android users. Unfortunately for iOS users – Apple isn’t interested in making a VR Headset, so your best option would be to get a Zeiss VR One Plus Headset for your iPhone.\n\nFor all of the latest in the VR industry, make sure to visit http://vr-now.co.uk/\n\nWritten by: Jordan Ewbank\nPhoto credit - Wikipedia, Google Play Store",

| title | HTC Announces the Vive Pro |
| body | HTC has announced a new and improved pro version of their VR Headset, along with upgrades to the Vive VR Software. It has already begun selling the ‘Vive Business Edition’ for £1,099.98 – so we expect it to cost around £800-£900 to buy. HTC says they’ll share more specifics about availability and pricing of the Vive Pro later this year. Written by: Jordan Ewbank |

| title | Google Cardboard Review |
| body | I’ve just recently purchased my own second-generation VR Viewer from Morrisons for only £4.75 (yes that’s right under £5.00!) off the shelf. Written by: Jordan Ewbank |
