The street however, wich runs around the island has only been built in the seventies. The years, decades and centuries before the villages on the island where themselves isolated, as they are scattered in different valleys of the Psarion-range.\n\nThe picture shows the view from Stamatias taverna to the mainland, which is our preferred hang-out in Mikro Kazaviti. The name \"Kazaviti\" again says it all: \"House of Wines\". The phoenecians and romans once have been cultivating wine here, terracing the whole valley. On the mainland runs the ancient \"Via Egnatia\" - once connecting Rome with Constantinople. The city of Kavala was a stopping point, for, have a guess: changing horses - therefore the Name: Kavala. Even today, nearby Thessalonikis main street ist called \"Egnatia\".",

I was hiking up to Beçisht, birthplace of Ali Pasha, thus crossing the river one early morning. Albania still suffers from powershortages and using the force of the wild waters might to be an easy way for production - yet destroying, what futher tourists might seek and enjoy.",

At first i didn´t even realize who was singing and where those strange sounds came from. I slept in the back room, which pointed towards the mountains. Up on the hillsides several mosques were scattered, so when half past five the muezzins began singing, a landslight of sound was washed down towards the shore and entered my bedroom, entered into my dreams. \n\n![IMG_7357.JPG](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNVSXf15xbstYd9seL9KHzfsPQUk4T1rActvL1reBTaYg/IMG_7357.JPG)\n\nFor an endless moment i thought, the mountains were singing. Bewildered and drowsy, i brushed the blankets aside and stepped to the window. Slowly i became aware of the source of this river of voices, slowly i awoke to where i was and what i was hearing. I stood in awe, breathing in the cool, moist, floral air of an early morning in southern albanian Gjirokastra. After some time i got back to bed, falling into a dreamless sleep, almost forgetting what i had heard.",

I would not have admitted it for a long time, i wasn´t even really aware of it, when i got off the train one early morning of may, making my way into Tbilissi. I stood outside the station, instantly having lost orientation. It was a grey, dull day and all was strange. \nThere was no sign of sun, it seemed there was no guiding star. A pack of taxi drives tried to hunt me down, but i escaped by steadily walking towards the minibuses, trying to look as though i knew where i was going. As a matter of fact, i had no idea. I could have asked, what bus to take to the inner city, but i decided not to. \nSometimes it´s not about getting there fast, not even after a nights train ride, it´s about getting there in the right way. Of course there is no general rule about right or wrong, right is what suits you, right is what compliments the very moment. So i sat down in the dust, looking over the railways, trying to regain a sense of direction. \n\n![IMG_3254.JPG](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQ86vnBPNHpqwZPxHqo2426muqsGBh9J3UN2s2zonCLvg/IMG_3254.JPG)\n\nThere was a small map of the inner city in my guidebook, but the railway station wasn´t on it, apparently being situated too far from the center. The station was overviewing the city, which stretched alongside the valley. On the other side a television tower pointed into the grey morning sky. \nAfter a few minutes of glancing over blocks, buildings and hillsides, i suddenly got the general idea: This is east and here is left, right is where i have to go. After a few minutes i would enter the map from the left side. Tbilissi had opened her arms and i was walking into them...",
