| body | As I am watching the Next Generation in Star Trek...I was thinking about how great it will be when we arrive and achieve this kind of society. Yet, observing our current society, it feels like the Cold War all over again, with thoughts of continual fighting till we get tired of them and move forward...or mutual destruction. Currently there are two well publicized wars...the war on drugs and the war on terrorists. The longer we allow this to occur, the more likely the less talked about wars will continue...such as the racial wars and gender wars. If we allow any type of "Authorized War"...there will be people who feel their wars are just and will do all necessary to succeed. War is never the answer...and defending yourself is not war...yet actively hunting down people is such an aggression on humanity, it will destroy the spirit. Which we are currently seeing, with all the violence occurring...and telling one group of people not to use violence all the while using violence to eradicate anyone associated with a different way of thinking. This only begets more violence. It is a vicious cycle that consistently reappears...mainly because it generates revenue for the elitist. The baby boomers realized this and came up with "Love not War"...well it is time for the next generation to tell the baby boomers "Equality for All" And not to suck a dick to ease some pissed of misogynist male from being violent. October 16, 2016 5:30am As I was reading a news article from the New York Times about America using special ops personnel in Somalia...I began thinking how USA are going around from country to country and changing their governments to a democracy...however the democracy seems to be ran by money rather than the people. As they say money talks and people walk. Once the USA is able to change the country's political structure, they put UN in positions to advise, thus controlling the rule of law...which, in theory sounds great, however power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Currently, the UN and USA along with other western society does not live by the laws they are now forcing these occupied countries to follow. As of now, I have read recently the USA is currently having military operations in 7 countries...trying to free the populace from dictators to democracy...yet as evidence by the actions taken by the USA government, the voice of the people is not being heard. Citizens are being killed by their own police with huge support by the vast majority to demilitarize their equipment and end lethal tactics. The killing of individuals without due process by the disguise of a war on terror, thus not allowing the opportunity to defend themselves in a public venue. The silencing of this message and others by not allowing independent political party's, that have an electoral ability to win the presidency, into the national presidential debates to expose this truth. The polluting and destruction of our environment to continue a policy of fossil fuel energy paradigm, against the voice of not only the citizens and scientist, but the vast majority of the rest of the planet. The incarnation of citizens for nonviolent crimes, protesters and whistleblowers. As examples of the above is evident by the Black Live Matter movement, the Drone killings in the Middle East, closed National President Debates, the Paris Environmental Agreement that does not start taking effect till 2020, the War on Drugs, the North Dakota Pipeline, and Edward Snowden. These are some of the acknowledged issues that are not being addressed in a matter that Americans are clamoring for, all the while asserting the legality of this government to be instituted into other countries . Ones that have not been acknowledged however are being talked about now are the rape culture, rigged elections, government ran media, and political financing. Certain individuals get a pass for sexual harassment while others get persecuted...the populace vote is superseded by an electoral vote and college...6 major corporations own 90% of the media...Citizens United allows corporations and unions to have expenditures for electioneering that side steps campaign contributions laws. What the USA appears to be doing is playing a game of Risk, using American democracy for world domination. Yet American democracy is currently being ran by banksters, big corporations, and elitist for profit over peace, planet, and people. This being the case, we the people, global citizens, need to continue to raise our voices, continue to take action, and vote for leaders who have alternatives for the current narrative. Presidential candidate Jill Stein is one such leader and has a moral compass that will guide US back to the path. |

Presidential candidate Jill Stein is one such leader and has a moral compass that will guide US back to the path. |

| body | September 11th, 2001 was a life changing day for me, along with just about everyone else on Earth. That's the day the world trade towers came down to the ground. Up til then, I rarely paid attention to the news, especially anything to do with politics...Bit by bit...as I listen to others...read what people wrote...watched what Was being presented...I began to see through the propaganda. I started to be a shame of my citizenship...not wanting to show my passport... So in response...I choose to do something about it. I began to become educated...as they say, I woke up. I learned the history of the United States...being made aware of the manipulation and distorted truth, we the public, were being presented. However, when the truth is spoken, and one hears it, it will ring true...such is the case when I heard President Donald J. Trump speak this past Saturday. Although I don't particularly like the persona portrayed by Don Don...such as America first, border walls, banning countries...i do respect that he is bringing up topics that affect his constituents. However, I am more happy that Americans are speaking up, making the collective conscious heard. President Trump has yet to have my endorsement, that being said, If he continues running his administration on promise made promise kept, regardless if I like the promise, he will be known for a man of his word...and this will be a bright future! |

| body | Dia dhui fellow thinkers...today I thought I would write about another responsibility that not only keeps me active, but provides comfort and well being...and that is the caregiving of another creature. In this case, I am speaking about my two kitties...a momma and one of her sons. I volunteered at a cat rescue nonprofit while writing a thesis on Animal Assisted Therapy for my Masters degree...and I thought it only appropriate to practice what I preached...so I took in Adam and Eden. Eden was a stray being fed by school children when they contacted the nonprofit...that specializes with kittens...to prevent more homeless cats on the streets. The mission of this nonprofit is a term called TNR, which stands for Trap Neuter Return...where the cats are captured...have an operation to prevent further propagation...and brought back to the colony. When a pregnant cat is captured however, they are provided a room at the Kitty Bungalow to nurse her kittens. The kittens are then found homes, with the mother being returned. However, since Eden did not show signs of being feral, it was decided that she would do well as a house cat, and I became the guardian of her and one of her offspring, Adam. Cats are fairly independent, needing less attention than dogs, which are a great animal for daily movement (dog walks)...yet indoor cats still need to be fed, have their litter cleaned, groomed, and provided with affection. Not a whole lot to ask for when it comes to responsibilities...but enough to get one out of bed when they make it known their ready for their early morning breakfast. Cleaning the litter is another daily activity...that gets me up and about...and picking up the 40 lbs bag of litter to fill up the litter box is an added bonus for muscle strengthening. The best part is the affection...it is an awesome feeling to have a cat kneed and nuzzle while purring...very therapeutic...and being able to give back scratches, belly rubs, and hugs provides a comfort of being accepted and needed. That being said, time to do some of my daily chores of maintaining a clean and safe environment for my fur babies. Annyeong til next time! |

| body | Jambo forward thinkers...today I am journaling about the process I have been doing to make nutrient rich soil. I first dug a fire pit to A) get a large container of soil (in my case clay) and to B) create wood ash. <hr>The wood ash is used to adjust the acidic level of the soil and added organic material from the yard, mainly grass, and began to toil and till the mixture.. After several months of this passion, I covered the top with more organic material and let sit as the winter season approached so Mother Nature could do her work. While this was going on, I began my hydroponic system to grow plants for transplanting. Come spring, I began a compost site, digging down about 3 feet and 4 across, adding grass, leaves, branches, and the countainer mixed with clay, wood ash, and other organic material. I toiled this soil over the next season...and began 2 more outside containers and 1 inside container...letting Mother Nature take her course of breaking down the bonds of the clay and organic substance, releasing replenishing nutrients and creating a fertile soil. In Autumn, I purchased a green house through Amazon...picked up a bag of potting soil from Eastern Market...and started transplanting plants from the hydroponics. I toil the soil quarterly, using a shovel and rake...generally spending the day working the soil back and forth. Today I spent about 4 hours on the compost pile...adding the containers that composted over the winter and turning over the soil to breakdown the dirt and organic material... and between spring quarter and fall quarter, I try to rotate the containers weekly to accelerate this composting process. That being said...time to cook and slán til next time! |

| title | Daily Movement |
| body | Hallo forward thinkers...so continuing on with the #monthlyauthorchange that I was thinking on skipping today...I decided to write about doing things daily. All though I am against challenges and contests, which is why I wanted to skip, just in protest, however, as I have written in the past, and do believe still, daily journaling is a good habit...and this Is a great way for the #Steemian community to see some of the activities I do daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and even yearly. Another good daily habit is movement...and when we have responsibilities, one does not need to think about movement...yet, as one has less and less duties...the amount of necessary movement continues to decrease...often close to stagnation...to the point physical activity becomes a labor and a chore...that being a possibility, I thought it would be a good idea to add gardening/farming...because it is a hobby that benefits from daily interaction with rewards for ones effort. Upon my research before starting this endeavor, I constantly heard the key to a successful garden is the soil...which is the reason I started my journey with an inside garden, via hydroponics, as I prepared the soil for the outside garden...a process that has taken me three seasons and will be elaborated upon in a future post. With my continue exploration to improve...I came across a farming system that the Mayans utilized...called aquaponics. This is my homemade aquaponics system...made from an old bed frame, box spring, toilet, packing containers, pvc, tubing and a water pump. The concept is to maximize a natural phenomenon found in Mother Nature where fish and rock supply plants with the nutrients to grow and flourish. How it works is one feeds the fish...the fish eat the food and release excrement, which is pumped to another container (that drains back into the fish container) that is filled with rocks and plants...the plants extracted the nitrogen while the rocks filter the water...thus purifying the water as it returns to the fish tank. Not only is this system efficient...it provides a steady stream of water with nutrients that I am able to use when watering the plants in my green house. This setup allows me to continue gardening/farming year round...being able to move the plants from the hydroponics...to the aquaponics...to the green house...and finally outside to a radiant sun. That being said, and having completed day 3 of the #monthlyauthorchallenge ...it is time to put out the solar lighting system, feed the fish, water the plants, enjoy some of my harvest and say kwaheri til next time! |

| title | Hydroponics |
| body | Kon'nichiwa fellow thinkers...so I started doing hydroponics about 2 years ago and have fallen in love with my AeroGarden that I bought on Amazon. This little contraption is a miracle worker when it comes to growing plants from seeds and propagating from cuttings. AeroGarden sells kits, which I highly recommend using at first to get a feel how the system works, that are simplistic and convenient. The way it works is one fills the container up with water (I use the water from kitchen sink) up to where it says Fill To Here then add 2 cap fillls of the Liquid Plant Food and then insert the seed pods into the openings and you are done. After 2 weeks add 2 more cap fills of Liquid Plant food and add water. For the first few weeks, the system does not use much water, however, once the plants are growing, check often because they can start to consume at a rapid pace. My greens started needing water every 2-3 days after about 2 months. I like to rinse the roots and container out with fresh water once a month and clean the unit to keep it healthy and sanitary. With my greens, I was able to harvest about once a week, which provided a nice crisp and tasty salad for me to eat. After about 5 months though, the roots had grown so much that the container was completely full that I had to transplant them into pots, which I will write about in a future post. With the second growing season, I grew tomatoes and after 2 months, I had to transplant the pods because the plants had grown to big for the system and moved them into my green house, which I will also write about in a future post. Now in the third season, I am growing flowers and peppers. I transplanted after 6 weeks to begin a new batch of cuttings, which is where I am at in this picture. I took the 4 most mature plants, moving 1 into the green house, 2 into an aquaponic system, which will be a future post, and kept 1 in the kitchen for me to smell, while taking cuttings from each one to clone them. I have found this hobby to be very therapeutic on several levels...first, it is gratifying to witness the transformation of a seed to a plant...second, being able to produce an edible substance is rewarding...third, having a beautiful and aromatic specimen is good for the senses...lastly, it keeps me active. "body": "\n\nKon'nichiwa fellow thinkers...so I started doing hydroponics about 2 years ago and have fallen in love with my AeroGarden that I bought on Amazon. This little contraption is a miracle worker when it comes to growing plants from seeds and propagating from cuttings. AeroGarden sells kits, which I highly recommend using at first to get a feel how the system works, that are simplistic and convenient. \n\nThe way it works is one fills the container up with water (I use the water from kitchen sink) up to where it says Fill To Here\n \nthen add 2 cap fillls of the Liquid Plant Food\n \nand then insert the seed pods into the openings and you are done. \n\nWith my greens, I was able to harvest about once a week, which provided a nice crisp and tasty salad for me to eat. I took the 4 most mature plants, moving 1 into the green house, 2 into an aquaponic system, which will be a future post, and kept 1 in the kitchen for me to smell, while taking cuttings from each one to clone them.\n\nI have found this hobby to be very therapeutic on several levels...first, it is gratifying to witness the transformation of a seed to a plant...second, being able to produce an edible substance is rewarding...third, having a beautiful and aromatic specimen is good for the senses...lastly, it keeps me active. \n\nThat being said, and having completed day 2 of the #monthlyauthorchallenge ...it is time to plug out, soak in the bath tub, relax and say auf wiedersehen\ntil next time!",

| body | Why hello there fellow thinkers...for the past several days, I have been posting articles (papers) that I wrote for my Masters degree in Human Development. However, in my effort to become an active Steemian, I realize I need new and diverse content. While perusing my feed, I came across an article posted by @ace108 about the #monthlyauthorchallenge. The challenge is fairly simple, yet takes some dedication. All one has to do is post an article each day for a month depicting the authors life including a picture and the #monthlyauthorchallenge. Voila, I found an answer to continue my quest to add value to Steemit, while at the same time provide me with a purpose to write daily. This first article #monthlyauthorchallenge has to do with a solar lighting kit I found on Amazon. Being conscientious of the environment, I have taken several steps to decrease my own carbon foot print, which will be the content of the next several articles. This solar lighting kit was a little over a $100 and is extremely easy to use. The panel connects to battery (one can see it on the right of the panel) via a wire. I charge the battery typically for about 4 hours (10am-2pm) and use that energy for my cell phone or LED lights that came with the kit. The battery has 2 USB ports and 3 jacks. The 4 hour charge lasts long enough for one of these lights to stay on the entire night with energy to spare, or I am able to charge my phone battery to 100% while watching several hours of Amazon Prime Video. That being said, and having completed day 1 of the #monthlyauthorchallenge...it is time to plug in, watch an episode of MacGyver, and say sayonara till tomorrow! |

| title | Orchestra |
| body | I thought I would write a piece to promote our Arts and Cultural committee at LAAC, and one thing that comes to my mind when I think about arts and culture is music. Music is truly an art form that many participate, but few master. Yet, I was lucky enough to meet a group of individuals who have mastered their calling as musicians the other night in the back room of a violin shop at 1234 7th Street, just west of our Athletic Club. Walking into the violin shop, it appeared to be your typical workshop with violins and cellos lying on the worktable, but as I passed through the doors to the back, a vast concert hall emerged. I am not talking about Walt Disney Concert Hall size, but a stage that can support a philharmonic orchestra, also known as a full size orchestra of about 100 players. This was totally unexpected from the outside and very impressive to see up close. The concert started with a blessing from their pastor and continued with words from the owner and concertmaster, Joseph. Following the opening presentation, we were blessed with a delightful array of food and drinks, which gave me a chance to talk with Jessica Suh, the Southern California Philharmonic Orchestra’s public relations representative. She explained to me the organization of an orchestra, which I had no clue how expansive it can be. First, there is the conductor who sets the tempo, which is the speed or pace of a given piece. It is an extremely crucial element of sound, as it can affect the mood and difficulty of a piece. The conductor also cues the sections to begin playing, which generally consists of four proportionate groups of similar instruments. These four sections include Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Strings. Each section has a principal player, who is the leader in that group of instruments. The principal first violin, also called the concertmaster, is not only in charge of his string section, but the entire orchestra, subordinate only to the conductor. The concertmaster is in charge of leading the orchestra in tuning before concerts and rehearsals and other technical aspects of orchestra management. In the string section, the typical instruments one will hear are the violins, violas, cellos, and the upright bass. The principal oboe is considered the leader of the woodwinds, which are musical instruments that produce sound when the player blows air against an opening causing the air to vibrate within a resonator. In the woodwind section, the instruments one will tend to see are oboes, flutes, clarinets, and bassoons. The principal trumpet generally leads the brass section. Like the woodwinds, a brass instrument tone is produced by vibration of the lips as the player blows into a tubular resonator. The brass section contains the trumpets, horns, trombones, and tubas. Finally, the principal percussionist can vary since there are so many percussion instruments available. In general, the timpani, which are large bowl drums, are the core symphonic instruments. A percussion instrument is any object that produces a sound by hitting, shaking, rubbing, scraping, or any other action that sets the object into vibration. The human voice was probably the first musical instrument, but percussion instruments such as hands and feet, then sticks, rocks, and logs were almost certainly the next steps in the evolution of music. Typically, the string section is the largest body of a standard orchestra and the seating arrangement is with first violins, second violins, violas and cellos clockwise around the conductor, with basses behind the cellos on the right. The woodwinds are typically behind the violas in the middle, with the brass behind the woodwinds, and the percussion instruments behind the brass in the back of the half circle created around the conductor. I have to admit, this was a little hard to follow, and the violin shop manager, Sam, drew me a nice diagram depicting the arrangement. After dinner and a nice explanation on the makeup of the orchestra, the Southern California Philharmonic Orchestra enchanted me with sounds one can only describe as magical. Hearing live music is amazing to me, and having a chance to see it up close and personal simply took my breath away. I feel blessed to have been apart of their inaugural rehearsal. To have this opportunity to hear and see a philharmonic orchestra in such an intimate setting is an experience one can only dream of, and I would recommend that all take advantage of the opening night July 2008! "body": "I thought I would write a piece to promote our Arts and Cultural committee at LAAC, and one thing that comes to my mind when I think about arts and culture is music. Music is truly an art form that many participate, but few master. Yet, I was lucky enough to meet a group of individuals who have mastered their calling as musicians the other night in the back room of a violin shop at 1234 7th Street, just west of our Athletic Club.\n\n Walking into the violin shop, it appeared to be your typical workshop with violins and cellos lying on the worktable, but as I passed through the doors to the back, a vast concert hall emerged. I am not talking about Walt Disney Concert Hall size, but a stage that can support a philharmonic orchestra, also known as a full size orchestra of about 100 players. This was totally unexpected from the outside and very impressive to see up close.\n\nThe concert started with a blessing from their pastor and continued with words from the owner and concertmaster, Joseph. Following the opening presentation, we were blessed with a delightful array of food and drinks, which gave me a chance to talk with Jessica Suh, the Southern California Philharmonic Orchestra’s public relations representative.\n\n She explained to me the organization of an orchestra, which I had no clue how expansive it can be. Each section has a principal player, who is the leader in that group of instruments.\n\nThe principal first violin, also called the concertmaster, is not only in charge of his string section, but the entire orchestra, subordinate only to the conductor. The concertmaster is in charge of leading the orchestra in tuning before concerts and rehearsals and other technical aspects of orchestra management. In the string section, the typical instruments one will hear are the violins, violas, cellos, and the upright bass.\n\nThe principal oboe is considered the leader of the woodwinds, which are musical instruments that produce sound when the player blows air against an opening causing the air to vibrate within a resonator. In the woodwind section, the instruments one will tend to see are oboes, flutes, clarinets, and bassoons.\n\nThe principal trumpet generally leads the brass section. Like the woodwinds, a brass instrument tone is produced by vibration of the lips as the player blows into a tubular resonator. The brass section contains the trumpets, horns, trombones, and tubas.\n\nFinally, the principal percussionist can vary since there are so many percussion instruments available. In general, the timpani, which are large bowl drums, are the core symphonic instruments. A percussion instrument is any object that produces a sound by hitting, shaking, rubbing, scraping, or any other action that sets the object into vibration. The human voice was probably the first musical instrument, but percussion instruments such as hands and feet, then sticks, rocks, and logs were almost certainly the next steps in the evolution of music.\n\nTypically, the string section is the largest body of a standard orchestra and the seating arrangement is with first violins, second violins, violas and cellos clockwise around the conductor, with basses behind the cellos on the right. The woodwinds are typically behind the violas in the middle, with the brass behind the woodwinds, and the percussion instruments behind the brass in the back of the half circle created around the conductor.\n\nI have to admit, this was a little hard to follow, and the violin shop manager, Sam, drew me a nice diagram depicting the arrangement. After dinner and a nice explanation on the makeup of the orchestra, the Southern California Philharmonic Orchestra enchanted me with sounds one can only describe as magical. | title | Integrative Healing Therapy |
| body | Integrative Healing Therapy From studying several different types of couple’s therapy, I have come to the conclusion that not one single theory will work for every individual/couple. This being the case, having knowledge of the vast array of therapies out there will allow the therapist to pick and choose which techniques and skills that will work best for each individual/couple. Integrative Healing Therapy does just that by evaluating both the individuals’ and the system’s level of functioning before treatment begins so that the therapist can map out where to put the focus. This road map can include psychodynamic, systemic, object relations, and cognitive behavior approaches to explore changes in the system in order to facilitate individual intrapsychic shifts to promote growth in the clients’ overall functioning, thinking, and behavior. To create this road map, an assessment needs to be done to determine whether to begin with the individuals or the system. If the clients’ abilities to discuss their feelings are limited, individuals are seen alone till they can come together with self-control and less anxiety to discuss issues and negotiate terms of the relationship. Before this can occur, growth and change needs to take place. This is accomplished by an individual acknowledging their own behaviors and to decide if they want to change patterns that no longer work for them. Once the clients have an understanding of their differentiated self, the goal is to bring the individuals back together for joint sessions. In order for the client to become differentiated from their partner, the therapist uses the approaches mentioned earlier. From a psychodynamic perspective, the basic drives are examined to determine how the individual can attain fulfillment and balance of these drives to achieve integrated psychological functioning. By looking at the individual from an object relation theory, the therapist can identify how clients use defenses such as splitting, cutting off, projection, and projective identification. When a client gains insight to their own defenses, they can begin to take responsibility for their actions. Cognitive behavioral strategies are utilized to change their thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors to a healthier level of functioning. This is done through cognitive relabeling, assertiveness training, role modeling, relaxation, communication skills, and several other interventions that have been proven effective. A therapist also wants to identify the origins of the client’s behavior. Meaning whether it stems from the clients nuclear family, family of origin, or extended family. Creating a genogram can normalize people’s perceptions when they realize dysfunctional behavior has been happening for generations and that they are repeating the patterns without being aware of what they are doing. By assessing the effect of intergenerational influences on the couple’s relationship, a therapist can help the clients reorganize their thinking about ethnic values and resolve conflicts that evolve out of different perceptions and experiences. Many of the conflicts that couples face are dictated by culturally and ethnically stated or unspoken roles. Therefore, it is fundamental that a therapist is comfortable with their own cultural or ethnic background, yet without assuming their cultural experience is the norm. By looking at the contextual variables such as race, ethnic background, cultural background, religion, gender, life cycle stage, socioeconomic background, and sexual preference, the therapist can comprehend the influences that foster positive or negative self-esteem, self-worth, and identity. With this comprehension, the therapist can help take the stigma out of the couple’s problems while enabling them to become empowered to change their behaviors and feelings. The main goal for most couples entering therapy is to increase the intimacy in the relationship. This is made possible by providing a safe emotional place for the clients to express themselves free of consequences while establishing equality of power between the partners. The therapist helps facilitate communication between the couple that enables them to share, explore, and problem solve more effectively, and this in return promotes more intimate interactions and less conflict. Having the wisdom that there are several therapeutic approaches available to help couples is what I found most useful about Integrative Healing Couples Therapy. Obtaining the knowledge and experience needed to make sensible decisions and judgments on what approach to apply is what makes a great therapist, and this comes from having a clear understanding of the theories put into practice. Knowing that there is a theory out there that combines theories has provided me with the insight that I should not concentrate on any one approach to assisting couples, but acquire a comprehensive understanding of each approach. Once I have achieved this level of intellectual capacity, I believe I can become an effective couples therapist. |

| title | Barriers |
| body | There are two forces within every human being to sustain life and fulfill the individual’s potential for health and happiness. One force strives to protect and defend the organism against harm, the other strives to nurture and enhance its well-being. In other words, one force provides safety and satisfaction, the other growth and satisfaction. We move toward self-actualization when the attractions for safety are minimized and the attractions for growth are enhanced. In other words, we stop being afraid and start living : ) The first two level of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Basic Needs are that of safety. The next three levels are that of growth. Once we have obtained a solid base, one can move up the pyramid with much more ease. What prevents us from moving forward? Barriers To Personal Growth Perceptual Barriers are those that we impose upon ourselves because of our beliefs, values, and attitudes. 1) Mistaken Ideas- Irrational Beliefs, Faulty Thinking, Maladaptive Rules for Living 2) Lack of Knowledge- Unaware of Possibilities of Change 3) Not Valuing Growth- Feeling They Are Fine and Others Should Change 4) Not Wanting to Know- To Grow, One Needs to Know Themselves (Emotions, Impulses, Memories, Capacities, Potentialities) Might Cause Pain 5) Tendency Toward Certain Inertia- The Principle Of Least Effort. Time & Energy Required for Change. Emotional Barriers occur when we fail to maintain inner contact with our thoughts, feelings, imagery, impulses, beliefs, ideas, or fantasies. 1) Fear (Anxiety)- Denies the Person the Opportunity to Grow 2) Anger- Denies the Person from Developing Constructive Problem-Solving Skills 3) Sadness- Denies the Person from Replacing or Compensating for the Loss 4) Guilt- Denies the Person from Experiencing Pleasure or Joy Behavioral Barriers are those habits that become ruts that keep us from trying other roadways. Instincts toward growth are weak rather than strong, and thus growth tendencies are easily stifled by habits. Doing something the same way time after time prevents us from discovering a more creative or effective method for achieving a purpose. One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. | title | Typology |
| body | Typology Upon answering all the questions in the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II, I found out that I had 5 E’s and 5 I’s giving me an X type. I believe I am extroverted more of the time than introverted, but I feel like I am becoming more and more of an introvert as I get wiser. I had 7 S’s and 13 N’s saying I am Intuitive/Introspective. I had 4 T’s and 16 F’s saying I am Feeling/Friendly. I had 6 J’s and 14 P’s saying I am Perceiving/Probing. So, according to the personal inventory test, I am an Idealist, and more specifically can be an ENFP (Champion) or INFP (Healer). I like to believe I am both at times, depending on my mood in any given situation. As an extrovert, I am expressive and outgoing in social settings. As an introvert, I am reserved and quiet in social settings. By being intuitive, I am introspective and see things with the mind’s eye. To have feeling, means to be friendly and sympathetic and personal with others. While perceiving, I am looking around for alternatives, opportunities, and options, hence “probing” or exploring. Well that’s according to David Keirsey. The funny thing is I actually agree with him. The description David Keirsey gives on NF’s are individuals who are friendly to the core. Looking for the good in each individual, and actually expecting to find that goodness there. Bringing energy to the group and keeping morale high. Giving pep talks to their circle of relationships. Making sure these relationships are feeling good about themselves and getting along with each other. Myers saw NF’s and herself as “humane, sympathetic, enthusiastic, religious, creative, intuitive, insightful, and subjective”. One of the key aspects of being a champion (ENFP) that I see in myself is being very observant. I want to always know what is going on in my environment, and if there is something more interesting or exciting, I want to be near or involved with that encounter. I want to experience all the events that affect people’s lives, and are able to share with them the feelings they had with that experience. I like to probe and get to the juicy and emotional part of the experience. If I notice a suspicious motive, I tend to make it known either through communication or body language. I have that keen and penetrating ability of intense concentration on another individual. I am always aware and alert, and ready to help in case of an emergency. While listening, I try to interpret special meaning to words or actions and figure out what motives they have for what they are communicating. People-to-people work is essential for me. I like having human contact and interacting with them. I also get bored at work if there is not variety or some element of surprise. I like coming up with new ways of doing things to make it more efficient. One of the key aspects of being a healer (INFP) that I see in myself is caring deeply. I care about everyone, but I will only care deeply for a few individuals. I have a profound sense of idealism derived from a strong personal morality. I see the world as an ethical, honorable place. I follow my heart more than logic when making decisions. I respond better to the good versus the bad, the moral versus the immoral, and the beautiful versus the ugly. An example of me being a healer (INFP) type is the fact I have many acquaintances but only a handful of profound relationships. I take the time to understand and learn what is bothering my friends, which explains why I still have so many childhood relationships. Relationships take work, and having the ability to mend those divisions keeps the friendships smooth and growing. Even after months without talking to anyone of my friends, we pick up right where we left off the last time we spoke. I have more examples of being a champion (ENFP), which leads me to believe I am an extrovert more of the time. One example is the fact I love to people watch. Whether I am waiting for the Metro, having a drink in a bar, or traveling, I am trying to figure out what people are thinking and/or why they are behaving in such a manner. I look at what they are wearing including if they have a wedding ring, and try to figure out as much as possible. I listen to their conversation and read their lips to see if I can figure out what they are talking about. I want to know what’s going on in my environment. If I see someone do something against my morals, I tend to make it known. Usually it has to do with people throwing trash on the ground. I will stare at them until we make eye contact with a disappointed look on my face then look at the trash and shake my head. People seem to understand my body language, and pick it up. By being alert in my environment, I have come to the aid of many people and situations. A few examples are catching a burglar and going to court to testify, seeing smoke coming from my next door neighbor’s garage and calling the fire department, noticing a man convulsing in his chair and helping him to the floor while calling for help, grabbing a shovel to put out a camp fire that was spreading while calling for help, and stopping fights on more than one occasion to name a few. If there is a situation that I can be of help, I will help. I would rather be part of the action than a by-stander. At work, I promote conversations with my coworkers by asking open questions to start a discussion. I enjoy talking with people and hearing their thoughts and feelings on topics, because it helps pass the time from the monotony of the job. |

| title | Entitlement |
| body | The possibilities of social media being a conduit to an egalitarian society are immense...yet by putting laws or restrictions on an open society just makes the behavior go to other means...yet do nothing and people might begin to believe that certain actions are acceptable in a civilized society. Which brings us to reputation...and how people's reputations are falling because of social media...where the mainstream media use to control the content to what we the people were privy to hear and buying people's silence so there reputation is not tarnished easily. These types of actions can be argued on the lines of bribery, soliciting, witness tampering, and obstruction of justice to name a few. Well there is a fairly new comer to the social media called steemit...as in esteem power... And the nuances to this web platform is that one has an opportunity to get paid for their input...regardless if one is the original content producer or the masses that want and need to be entertained.. Information that government and corporations used to give away nice incentives and/or pay cash for...now the masses were giving it away freely, included myself. I got caught up with keeping up with the Jones's...which literally became a hit reality show. (I watched the first really show...called cops, and was discussed by the attitudes of the participants...mainly on the actions of the enforcers of the law...using excessive force in my opinion on each and everyone of there arrest. That was close to twenty some years ago. I stopped watching g that program because I was so mad at the way officers behave...and these transferable anger towards the television would stray to arise, having been treated as such.) Any way, this reality type life style started to become a trend, an understandable one due to the fact we all enjoy attention, being social beings..however, the United States government began to stray by the influence of corporate and private interests on how the nation can use this kind of data and access to truly give a voice to the people. Representatives of the House and Congress have stepped up to the stage to call out these types of practices...and now we have a President (who may or may not have a sexual past history that many of us find repugnant), being blamed for behaviors and attitudes that have been around before Hillary, before Obama, Before george, before Clinton, even before George, and good old Ronald who sold their message To the masses...Including taking down solar panels off the White House in the early '80s.// Back to the current president...President Trump who walked away from Thea groups and organizations to truly make a difference in America. Yet the Public (masses whom haven't woken up) continues to listen to the sold out commentary's and fake news...or use social media finding out that just behind big stories tend to be a bigger and more sinister, one that we would rather not believe, and call it a conspiracy, allowing our feelings to transfer to this other story that is being bombarded by the mainstream media. Till next time...thanks patriots and forward thinkers of recognizing there is a better path than being presented...one leads down servitude and the other towards freedom. Punishing all of us by taking away our constitutional rights on the back of certain individuals that try to speak up loud enough to be heard...like Christopher Dorn from LAPD or Professor Ted...or many, many others who we are not allow to hear because they are killed or silenced...is childish and short sighted. I too think automatic guns and other weapons of distraction ought to be band...start with us would be the silliest first step to make...With the US government allowing the sale of these exact guns to an entity that had participants who flew into the World Trade Center...first and foremost we as the people need to stop the industrial pharmaceutical military complex...the two that support the third our in our control...don't take those pills and don't consume what Kardashin is pushing. The term they use now is national security or redacted information. |

I stopped watching g that program because I was so mad at the way officers behave...and these transferable anger towards the television would stray to arise, having been treated as such.)\n\nAny way, this reality type life style started to become a trend, an understandable one due to the fact we all enjoy attention, being social beings..however, the United States government began to stray by the influence of corporate and private interests on how the nation can use this kind of data and access to truly give a voice to the people.\nRepresentatives of the House and Congress have stepped up to the stage to call out these types of practices...and now we have a President (who may or may not have a sexual past history that many of us find repugnant), being blamed for behaviors and attitudes that have been around before Hillary, before Obama, Before george, before Clinton, even before George, and good old Ronald who sold their message\nTo the masses...Including taking down solar panels off the White House in the early '80s.//\nBack to the current president...President Trump who walked away from Thea groups and organizations to truly make a difference in America. \nTill next time...thanks patriots and forward thinkers of recognizing there is a better path than being presented...one leads down servitude and the other towards freedom. \nPunishing all of us by taking away our constitutional rights on the back of certain individuals that try to speak up loud enough to be heard...like Christopher Dorn from LAPD or Professor Ted...or many, many others who we are not allow to hear because they are killed or silenced...is childish and short sighted. \n\n\n\n\nThe term they use now is national security or redacted information.",

| title | Practice what I preach |
| body | I am one who tries and often do practice what I preach, and I truly feel that writing down ones feelings and thoughts are so helpful and therapeutic that I decided I would journal what I have learned from my experience so far in facilitating a group. First and foremost what I have learned is that I can do it. I am one who prefers to be the wind beneath the wings, and not the front man. I don’t like having all the attention on me because it makes me nervous, just like many of us, but I realize the more one does something the better one becomes at doing it. So I want to thank all of you for making it an enjoyable process by participating and contributing in each group. Through this process, I have come to understand that it is not my responsibility to talk the whole session, and in fact, I have learned that it is more pleasurable for all when I don’t. The important thing for me is to come into the meeting with an idea or concept for us to discuss, so we can process our feelings on that topic. The main reason I am nervous, is because I feel as the leader of the group, I am supposed to have all the answers, which I don’t. This is an illogical thought, because no one has all the answers, but still, I feel it is my duty to be prepared with the information. This being the case, a major concern of mine is not having a response, or making an incorrect reply to someone’s question. What I mean by an incorrect response is one that sends a member down the wrong path. That is why they teach us not to give answers, but facilitate each individual to find their own solutions. I am still working on mastering this skill because I like to give my opinion, and that could influence how someone acts, and when I do that, it means I am taking responsibility for that person’s behavior, which it is not mine to take. In order for someone to make decisions independently, one needs to achieve self-actualization, which means the successful development and use of personal talents and abilities. One obtains this insight through personal growth, which has been the topic we have concentrated on in our group. Having to prepare for this subject has helped me solidify my knowledge in this area. Personal growth is a lifetime process, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to help others achieve this objective. By listening to the members of our group, I realize that I am not the only one who has difficulty with change. If we want change though, we have to take risks, and when taking a risk, we do not know the consequences because they are new behaviors. The risk I have recently taken was changing my occupation, which has led me here to facilitate this group. I was not happy with my job, so I knew I had to make a change and that created anxiety. It was not easy going back to school after 10+ years, but in order to change professions I was aware it was necessary. I still worry about the choices I made because I had a nice lifestyle, but it was not fulfilling. I have faith though that the decisions I have made will lead to a better way of life because I will be in charge of my destiny and not someone else. This group has helped confirm these beliefs along with the individual therapy that I have been conducting because I look forward to coming to work and feel satisfaction with the knowledge I tried to help a fellow human being. I have along way to go because I am still anxious in group and individual sessions, but realize I have only just begun. By facilitating this group, I have achieved personal growth because it has helped me overcome my fear of feeling inadequate of having the ability to teach others. |
