The process is one with which many of us are familiar. Fill out some forms, click accept (at least we don’t have to print, sign, and mail them), and then….wait. **The Cost of Account Transfers** ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfQhRNV9Hf37wiBMeTgvnpaWauoDCVbuyp7uJiPBRFuEj/image.png) I was reviewing the process to understand when I would have access to the funds. Given my crypto-centric (pun intended) life these days, my expectations is minutes, certainly not days or weeks. I got a harsh reminder of the friction associated with moving money between institutions though. It can take up 10 15 business days to complete. But, what choice did I have? This process, which at one point was miraculous, is now outdated. I can send a video of my kids halfway around the world in 2 seconds, but to send funds from one account I control (sort of) to another account I control (sort of) can take 15 days? When I talk about the fact that the speed of value transfer hasn’t kept up with the speed of information transfer, this is exactly what I mean. And the costs of these delays are real. Whenever you can’t immediately deploy your assets in _**exactly**_ the way that you want (from buying a coffee to buying a house), that’s friction in the system. The friction wastes time and it costs money. Somewhere, you are paying. There are systems of trust behind these brokerages that say “take Jeremy’s money from here and put it there.” Fine, great. But those people and those machines cost money. And the customer is paying one way or another. There’s always going to be some amount of friction, speed of light and all, but in a digital speed world such as ours, 15 days says “opportunity for disruption.” **How I Double Spent** One of the key innovations of Bitcoin was a novel solution to the “double spend” problem. This refers to the unique challenges of digital money, namely that copies are perfect replicas of originals. In the offline world, we call it “forgery’ or ‘counterfeiting.” Without a way to prevent that from happening, a digital-native currency would be impossible. Proof-of-Work and the other parts of the Bitcoin system solve this. The ironic part of my account transfer story is that the process opened itself up to allow me to double spend. Here’s how. Soon after I initiated the transfer from the broker, I had to make a payment via PayPal. When I was asked by PayPal for “Funding Source,” I chose what I thought was another account at the same broker. The PayPal payment went through and I was able to send the money to the intended recipient. Three days later, however, I get a note from PayPal saying that I have a “Negative Balance” in my PayPal. Apparently, I made a mistake in my selection and actually told PayPal to take the money from the account that was in transit. When PayPal went to collect, they were told by my old broker that “the money has left this account and is making its way to another account, so we can’t give it to you.” At that point, PayPal asked me to settle up, which I did, but for a while there, I had left PayPal holding the bag. There was no way for them to realize that the account I had selected was no longer a valid account, since it was moving. **Transparency and Trust Removes Friction** If I didn’t know any better, I would just throw up my hands and say “oh well, this is the system. This is how it works. What else am I supposed to do?” Today, however, I know there’s a better, faster way to ensure that money moves around where it needs to be and when. I know that double spending can’t be done. And I know that 15 day transfers are a thing of the past…eventually. Ultimately, public blockchains will give all of us a lot more choice about where we want our assets deployed. They will give us more choice about what system of trust works best for us. They will make us less reliant upon back office systems that are slow and inefficient. It’s going to take a while for value to migrate because the alternatives are rife with their own problems, which are growing pains. There will be different problems, but trust and (one day) speed will come standard. When that happens, it will come down to which system of trust can deliver its output faster and cheaper. One that uses computers, but is managed by people. Or one that uses computers, but is managed by software?

And it’s not just happening in the US. When politicians like [Trump](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/trump-s-campaign-shouts-rigged-iowa-caucuses-thrown-chaos-n1129636), [Warren](https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/9/16/20869157/elizabeth-warren-triangle-shirtwaist-factory-fire-corruption-speech), [Sanders](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/06/bernie-sanders-2016-rigged-wont-pledge-support-winner.html), [Corbyn](https://www.bbc.com/news/av/election-2017-39854910/jeremy-corbyn-warns-of-a-reckoning-to-come-for-rigged-system), [Netanyahu](https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-netanyahu-s-rigged-charges-claims-won-t-convince-knesset-committee-ag-says-1.8356138), and others make claims of “rigging” they are sending a very strong message. > _**“You can no longer trust this system. It’s not fair and it’s against you. Take my word for it.”**_ Now, you have a choice. You can agree or disagree with these statements. Accept them or reject them. But what you can’t do is prove them right…or wrong. It’s not like you can inspect the system to prove that it’s fair or not, can you? You don’t know whom to trust. Is the system actually ‘rigged’ or is it just a politician bloviating? **Incentives and Penalties in a Rigged System Scenario** Now it’s a game theory situation. If you think the system isn’t rigged, but everyone else thinks it is…what happens? If you think it is rigged, but others don’t…what happens? I haven’t worked out all of the scenarios, but my gut says that the game theoretic optimal position to take is to behave as if the system is actually rigged. Here’s how I break it down. If others think it’s rigged, they have no incentive to be honest, so, they will start cheating (fake voters, multiple votes, etc.) In their mind, “hey, it’s rigged anyway, so this is the game we have to play.” Then others have no choice but to respond. “Well, they are cheating, so we have to do it as well.” Pretty soon, with no penalties for dishonest behavior (the judges and juries think the system is ‘rigged’ anyway, so they are understanding), the system of trust for elections and governing is completely eroded. No one trusts the system any longer. Why should they? **Credible Neutrality** Working on a book about the impact of public blockchains is very frustrating and tiring. It’s not like we know what will or won’t happen in any direction. All we can do is speculate. But we can make somewhat educated guesses. These guesses are based on guiding principles of public blockchains and the benefits that they provide for citizens of decentralized societies. One of these principles is “Credible Neutrality.” The founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has a long post called [“Credible Neutrality As A Guiding Principle’](https://nakamoto.com/credible-neutrality/) that, like all of his writing, is dense and packed with tremendous insight. Not light reading. You’ve been forewarned. I think the summary does a nice job of providing the gist. > _**as the number of software-intermediated marketplaces of different forms that we rely on keeps increasing, it becomes ever more important to make sure that these systems do not end up giving power to a select few – whether the operators of those platforms or even more powerful forces that end up capturing them – and instead create credible systems of rules that we can all get behind.**_ This is one of the grand promises of public blockchains. Due to its native transparency and open-source software, it has the potential to support underlying systems of trust that can (relatively) easily withstand allegation of “rigging.” **The Superior Alternative that Can Emerge** My bet is that these systems ,when deployed and when the interfaces/user experience are better, will offer a superior environment for trust. Instead of the mental and emotional tax we all pay when forced to determine “rigged” or “not rigged” when choosing a system of trust, we will have the option to decide between “provably fair” or “not provably fair.” The friction that is removed when you KNOW that a system is fair provides a competitive advantage to marketplaces that come with “credible neutrality” standard. When trust comes standard and all the other boxes get checked, people will move. I think about the anxiety and stress that the comments from politicians put on everyone else. It concerns me on many levels. Soon, and maybe now, we’ll get to a point where we just look at these “rigged” discussions and the doubt that comes from them as “pains we just have to live with.” It’s like chronic back problems or migraines. One day, hopefully sooner rather than later for the sake of civilization and democracy, we’ll have a medicine that reminds us that life doesn’t have to be that way. Until then, take the crypto maxim to heart: Trust, but Verify. P.S. Today is President’s Day in the US, when we celebrate the all-time greats of Washington and Lincoln. Perhaps this can serve as a motivator for restoring belief and desire for a transparently fair, credibly neutral system that avoids allegation of “rigging.”

It’s not fair and it’s against you. Take my word for it.”**_\n\nNow, you have a choice.\n\nYou can agree or disagree with these statements. Accept them or reject them.\n\nBut what you can’t do is prove them right…or wrong. It’s not like you can inspect the system to prove that it’s fair or not, can you?\n\nYou don’t know whom to trust.\n\nIs the system actually ‘rigged’ or is it just a politician bloviating?\n\n**Incentives and Penalties in a Rigged System Scenario**\nNow it’s a game theory situation.\n\nIf you think the system isn’t rigged, but everyone else thinks it is…what happens?\n\nIf you think it is rigged, but others don’t…what happens?\n\nI haven’t worked out all of the scenarios, but my gut says that the game theoretic optimal position to take is to behave as if the system is actually rigged.\n\nHere’s how I break it down.\n\nIf others think it’s rigged, they have no incentive to be honest, so, they will start cheating (fake voters, multiple votes, etc.)\n\nIn their mind, “hey, it’s rigged anyway, so this is the game we have to play.”\n\nThen others have no choice but to respond. “Well, they are cheating, so we have to do it as well.”\n\nPretty soon, with no penalties for dishonest behavior (the judges and juries think the system is ‘rigged’ anyway, so they are understanding), the system of trust for elections and governing is completely eroded.\n\nNo one trusts the system any longer.\n\nWhy should they?\n\n**Credible Neutrality**\nWorking on a book about the impact of public blockchains is very frustrating and tiring. It’s not like we know what will or won’t happen in any direction. All we can do is speculate.\n\nBut we can make somewhat educated guesses. These guesses are based on guiding principles of public blockchains and the benefits that they provide for citizens of decentralized societies.\n\nOne of these principles is “Credible Neutrality.”\n\nThe founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has a long post called [“Credible Neutrality As A Guiding Principle’](https://nakamoto.com/credible-neutrality/) that, like all of his writing, is dense and packed with tremendous insight. Not light reading. You’ve been forewarned.\n\nI think the summary does a nice job of providing the gist.\n\n> _**as the number of software-intermediated marketplaces of different forms that we rely on keeps increasing, it becomes ever more important to make sure that these systems do not end up giving power to a select few – whether the operators of those platforms or even more powerful forces that end up capturing them – and instead create credible systems of rules that we can all get behind.**_\n\nThis is one of the grand promises of public blockchains.\n\nDue to its native transparency and open-source software, it has the potential to support underlying systems of trust that can (relatively) easily withstand allegation of “rigging.”\n\n**The Superior Alternative that Can Emerge**\nMy bet is that these systems ,when deployed and when the interfaces/user experience are better, will offer a superior environment for trust.\n\nInstead of the mental and emotional tax we all pay when forced to determine “rigged” or “not rigged” when choosing a system of trust, we will have the option to decide between “provably fair” or “not provably fair.”\n\nThe friction that is removed when you KNOW that a system is fair provides a competitive advantage to marketplaces that come with “credible neutrality” standard.\n\nWhen trust comes standard and all the other boxes get checked, people will move.\n\nI think about the anxiety and stress that the comments from politicians put on everyone else. It concerns me on many levels.\n\nSoon, and maybe now, we’ll get to a point where we just look at these “rigged” discussions and the doubt that comes from them as “pains we just have to live with.” It’s like chronic back problems or migraines.\n\nOne day, hopefully sooner rather than later for the sake of civilization and democracy, we’ll have a medicine that reminds us that life doesn’t have to be that way.\n\nUntil then, take the crypto maxim to heart: Trust, but Verify.\n\n \n\nP.S. Today is President’s Day in the US, when we celebrate the all-time greats of Washington and Lincoln. Perhaps this can serve as a motivator for restoring belief and desire for a transparently fair, credibly neutral system that avoids allegation of “rigging.”",

Their first product is Emotional Insurance. But it’s not free.* I am writing this post on the morning after the Super Bowl. By now, if you even bothered to watch the game, you most likely have forgotten many of the commercials. You may have even forgotten who won the game. (It was Kansas City ;-). For me, there were two commercials that stood out, both for the same reason. The [first was from New York Life](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtyQ3CFzhP8) which managed to teach us 4 words in Greek, which I thought was really impressive. <iframe width="731" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MtyQ3CFzhP8" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> The second [was the Google “Alzheimers/Loretta” ad.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xSxXiHwMrg) <iframe width="731" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6xSxXiHwMrg" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> I give both brands a lot of credit for having created such powerful content. As my NSM partner, Donny, likes to say these were “commercials that make you cry.” **The Price of Emotional Insurance** What was interesting to me was that both ads were selling the same thing, insurance. One is financial. One is emotional Yet, these two products come with different costs, one seen, one unseen. An insurance product, such as the one from New York Life, which gives a feeling of love, comes with a cost of premiums that you pay in the form of dollars. The Google ad comes with the cost of your data. That data, eventually, is turned into dollars. What’s more, the data can be harvested for years afterward. And because the value of data can if managed well, return increasing amounts of value, Google has a need for ever more of it. So, while Loretta is memorialized thanks to Google, there are “hidden fees” in the form of personal data and privacy. Google is going to want to know – “When did Loretta’s husband start to have these symptoms?” -“What else did Loretta’s husbands start searching for around the time he started forgetting things?” -‘which doctors did he go to see?’ -‘which websites and keywords did he use?” -“which clinics did he go to?” -and so on…. So, Google not only knows that Alzheimer’s is on the way, it knows a lot about the experience of Alzheimer’s. And it can use that to sell ads more effectively, raising ad rates for all of those people just a few cents every time. Slowly, but surely, like erosion, the prices creep up, which the providers then have to pass on to Loretta’s husband. That’s how he and his family eventually pay. But wait, there’s more… What happens in 10 years when the children and grandchildren of Loretta want these stories and information? Will they have to pay for it? Is Google going to keep it for them for free, altruistically? They are just good citizens, right? Google may say “sure, it’s going to be always available for you,” but there’s nothing that Loretta’s family can get from Google that will guarantee their rights to access this information in the future. This is the “platform-risk” associated with centralized monopolies, which Google obviously is. **No Free Lunches** Don’t get me wrong, I thought the ad was beautiful and cynic of big data companies that I am, it still moved me. But I saw the “brandwashing” that Google was doing. Yes, you can have all of this and Loretta will be remembered, but the cost of “mental insurance” is the same, if not more, than financial insurance. It’s just that the payment mechanism and timeframe is different.

Still serving enterprise marketers.* When Never Stop Marketing began all the way back in April 2008, the company was premised on two commitments to the market. **The Mission of NSM** Enterprise marketing readiness. First, we wanted to educate and inform enterprise marketers about the implications of the arrival of disruptive technologies. (The initial focus was on social media). The second commitment was that we would give practical advice. We wanted to offer immediate steps that enterprise marketers could take to leverage these new technologies for competitive advantage. **Marketing on the Cutting Edge** Over the past 12 years, it’s become obvious that just because we concluded that an emerging technology will be important, doesn’t necessarily mean that there is broad consensus among everyone. For example, in 2008, it was far from clear to most large brands that Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms would be a big deal for enterprise marketers. That’s ok. Being on the cutting edge requires some degree of patience. It was that patience that allowed us to serve clients ranging from #1 New York Times best-selling authors like [Gretchen Rubin](http://www.gretchenrubin.com/) and [Dan Pink](http://www.danpink.com/) to companies like **Microsoft** and **Johnson & Johnson**, with a slew of great brands and companies in between. Way too many to name. Similarly, today, it’s not obvious to all that public blockchains are going to play a big role in the future of marketing. One day, we believe it will be since it goes directly to things that marketers are supposed to care about…Trust and Value. That’s why, for the past 4 years, Never Stop Marketing has sought to help educate and empower enterprise marketers about some of the possible transformations that blockchains will yield and catalyzed. To that end, we * published the [CMO Primer for the Age of Blockchains](https://www.neverstopmarketing.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/CMO-Primer-For-The-Blockchain-World-NSM.pdf) (huge hat tip to Coby for the help on his one). * [hosted webinars and Immersion and Envisioning Days for brands and agencies.](https://www.neverstopmarketing.com/what-we-do/) * wrote hundreds of [blog posts](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/) and [articles](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/featured-articles) and have spoken on tens panels plus multiple [keynotes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFNfRpF1-HA&t=8s). * Have sent a [bi-weekly newsletter](http://www.neverstopmarketing.com/) (hat tip to Carlos). * Created educational materials with partners like the [Internet Advertising Bureau (the IAB)](http://www.iab.com/) to help their members understand how blockchain technology will affect advertising. **Opportunities in the Promising Blockchain + Marketing Segment** Despite all of these efforts, we haven’t had staff devoted to the mission of continuing to communicate these opportunities and to regularly work with major players in the advertising space to expose the best work and the best products in the space. That doesn’t change the fact that we see meaningful opportunity at the intersection between emerging blockchain technology and the marketing function within large enterprises. To show the lay of the land, [The Blockchain MarTech Landscape](https://www.neverstopmarketing.com/marketer-resources/#page-four) (a huge hat tip to our wonderful researcher Lina) has grown from 22 projects to over 400 in 3 years. We’re not alone in seeing the opportunity. Many entrepreneurs see it as well, even though it may be further than any one of us might like. On the advertiser side, there is an increasing number of pilots in the crypto/blockchain space. We’ve seen more interest from brands and agencies in our services. Enterprise awareness and interest is growing. To illuminate these opportunities and to get the market excited, we have built strong recognition, good relationships, and a ton of IP. In short, the opportunity is there for Never Stop Marketing to grow to become a premier provider of knowledge services to marketers and agencies as an ever-increasing number of disruptive technologies make landfall. Blockchain first, but also AI, 3D printing, and 5G among others beyond that. We’ll have a lot of options in front of us. **The REAL Opportunity in front of NSM…It’s About Trust and Value** Blockchain, like AI, 5G and all the others, of course, is just a technology. The real value comes from solving actual business problems for enterprise marketers and agencies. There is a seismic shift in marketing towards improving trust, transparency and delivering on the promise of permission-based marketing. This is driven by a huge number of factors globally, many of which you know already. Helping enterprise marketers explore how they can deliver value in a global environment of low trust….that’s where the actual opportunity exists. That’s where we are going to focus. NSM will continue to help marketers navigate the new trust- and value-enhancing solutions and capabilities. We’ll continue to provide Immersion Days, online training in partnership with trade groups, the [Blockchain CMO podcast](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/featured-podcasts/), and conferences. [If any of these interest you, feel free to reach out: [[email protected]]([email protected])] **New Captain of the NSM Ship** To fully take advantage of that opportunity and set the right course, NSM requires a different leader. One who is better suited for this part of NSM’s mission. That leader is [Donny Dvorin](https://www.linkedin.com/in/donnydvorin/). I first met Donny when he approached me at a ClickZ event in March 2018. That’s when he expressed interest in joining the NSM team. Over time, I saw the kind of dedication and work ethic he has and what has made him such a successful executive for so long. What’s more, I was astounded by the way he immersed himself in the study of blockchain technology. About 1 year later, he was truly a “crypto-first” thinker. That’s when the conversations got more serious. We both recognized that Donny, for a slew of reasons, would be the better leader to help NSM’s enterprise clients truly benefit from our expertise and worldview. Donny has hustled and worked tirelessly to extend the foundation that I built and I am hopeful that he will take us to new heights. As of last week, Donny is the new Managing Partner of Never Stop Marketing. I have stepped back into the role of Founder. He’s the captain of the ship now. Now, some people might say, “Wait, Donny is also a sales leader at [Brave](http://www.brave.com/), isn’t he? How is that going to work?” My answer is simple…what Donny is doing is what all of us will be doing in the #FutureOfWork. Many of us are going to want multiple, decentralized income streams that protect us against negative changes in a dynamic market. In other words, you become obsolete. Even better, it’s synergistic. Brave is a privacy-first browser with a blockchain-inspired business model that doesn’t rely on your personal data to make money. It has 12 million monthly users and has been my default for over a year now. [You can sign up to become a Brave creator and earn BAT, if you have a blog or website](https://brave.com/nev707). Donny has also put his “skin in the game” into NSM by being a key investor in the future of Never Stop Marketing. And we settled the transaction with the DAI crypto-stable coin. [I’ve [blogged MakerDAO and DAI many, many times](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/?s=dai), if you want to learn more.] **So Jeremy, where will you be spending your time?** Of course, as Founder and a shareholder, I’m still involved with NSM and am here to support the team. I like to say that “the day I stop blogging is the day I stop marketing..and I never stop marketing” so I have zero plans of stopping the NSM blog. I am also focused on finishing The [Non-Obvious Guide to Understanding Blockchain (without the hype](https://www.nonobvious.com/product/non-obvious-guide-to-understanding-blockchain/)) with my co-author, [Natalie Petouhoff](https://twitter.com/drnatalie). The other pursuit is also a “skin in the game” effort. I’m the co-chief investment officer of the **Crypto Futura Fund**. It’s for institutions and accredited investors who want exposure to the emerging class of crypto assets. [This is not a solicitation]. Finally, I’ll be continuing my advisory work with leading projects such as [Fortmatic](https://fortmatic.com/) and [DAOstack](http://www.daostack.io/). It’s certainly possible that I will fail miserably at one, two, or all three of those…as well as a number of other initiatives I may pick up along the way. It’s just the next part of the journey, I suppose. **The Road Ahead for Never Stop Marketing** Never Stop Marketing is about much, much more than Donny and me. Without Coby, Lina, Carlos, Virginie, Brian, Amy, Chris, Christina, Mary and so many, friends, family members, business partners, and others, we wouldn’t be where we are today. In some grand vision of the universe, though, Never Stop Marketing is more than a company. It’s a mantra and a philosophy shared by those who believe it and practice it. I’m excited that NSM has someone as committed and passionate as Donny to lead us into the future. There’s a lot that can be done. I hope you will look for ways to be part of the journey and thank you for being part of it until now.

Still serving enterprise marketers.*\n\nWhen Never Stop Marketing began all the way back in April 2008, the company was premised on two commitments to the market. \n\n**The Mission of NSM**\nEnterprise marketing readiness.\n\nFirst, we wanted to educate and inform enterprise marketers about the implications of the arrival of disruptive technologies. \n\n(The initial focus was on social media).\n\nThe second commitment was that we would give practical advice. \n\nWe wanted to offer immediate steps that enterprise marketers could take to leverage these new technologies for competitive advantage.\n\n**Marketing on the Cutting Edge**\nOver the past 12 years, it’s become obvious that just because we concluded that an emerging technology will be important, doesn’t necessarily mean that there is broad consensus among everyone.\n\nFor example, in 2008, it was far from clear to most large brands that Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms would be a big deal for enterprise marketers. \n\nThat’s ok. \n\nBeing on the cutting edge requires some degree of patience.\n\nIt was that patience that allowed us to serve clients ranging from #1 New York Times best-selling authors like [Gretchen Rubin](http://www.gretchenrubin.com/) and [Dan Pink](http://www.danpink.com/) to companies like **Microsoft** and **Johnson & Johnson**, with a slew of great brands and companies in between. Way too many to name.\n\nSimilarly, today, it’s not obvious to all that public blockchains are going to play a big role in the future of marketing. \n\nOne day, we believe it will be since it goes directly to things that marketers are supposed to care about…Trust and Value.\n\nThat’s why, for the past 4 years, Never Stop Marketing has sought to help educate and empower enterprise marketers about some of the possible transformations that blockchains will yield and catalyzed.\n\nTo that end, we \n\n* published the [CMO Primer for the Age of Blockchains](https://www.neverstopmarketing.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/CMO-Primer-For-The-Blockchain-World-NSM.pdf) (huge hat tip to Coby for the help on his one). \n* [hosted webinars and Immersion and Envisioning Days for brands and agencies.](https://www.neverstopmarketing.com/what-we-do/)\n* wrote hundreds of [blog posts](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/) and [articles](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/featured-articles) and have spoken on tens panels plus multiple [keynotes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFNfRpF1-HA&t=8s).\n* Have sent a [bi-weekly newsletter](http://www.neverstopmarketing.com/) (hat tip to Carlos).\n* Created educational materials with partners like the [Internet Advertising Bureau (the IAB)](http://www.iab.com/) to help their members understand how blockchain technology will affect advertising.\n\n**Opportunities in the Promising Blockchain + Marketing Segment**\nDespite all of these efforts, we haven’t had staff devoted to the mission of continuing to communicate these opportunities and to regularly work with major players in the advertising space to expose the best work and the best products in the space.\n\nThat doesn’t change the fact that we see meaningful opportunity at the intersection between emerging blockchain technology and the marketing function within large enterprises. \n\nTo show the lay of the land, [The Blockchain MarTech Landscape](https://www.neverstopmarketing.com/marketer-resources/#page-four) (a huge hat tip to our wonderful researcher Lina) has grown from 22 projects to over 400 in 3 years. We’re not alone in seeing the opportunity. Many entrepreneurs see it as well, even though it may be further than any one of us might like.\n\nOn the advertiser side, there is an increasing number of pilots in the crypto/blockchain space. We’ve seen more interest from brands and agencies in our services. Enterprise awareness and interest is growing. \n\nTo illuminate these opportunities and to get the market excited, we have built strong recognition, good relationships, and a ton of IP.\n\nIn short, the opportunity is there for Never Stop Marketing to grow to become a premier provider of knowledge services to marketers and agencies as an ever-increasing number of disruptive technologies make landfall. \n\nBlockchain first, but also AI, 3D printing, and 5G among others beyond that. We’ll have a lot of options in front of us.\n\n**The REAL Opportunity in front of NSM…It’s About Trust and Value**\nBlockchain, like AI, 5G and all the others, of course, is just a technology. \n\nThe real value comes from solving actual business problems for enterprise marketers and agencies.\n\nThere is a seismic shift in marketing towards improving trust, transparency and delivering on the promise of permission-based marketing. This is driven by a huge number of factors globally, many of which you know already.\n\nHelping enterprise marketers explore how they can deliver value in a global environment of low trust….that’s where the actual opportunity exists.\n\nThat’s where we are going to focus.\n\nNSM will continue to help marketers navigate the new trust- and value-enhancing solutions and capabilities. We’ll continue to provide Immersion Days, online training in partnership with trade groups, the [Blockchain CMO podcast](https://blog.neverstopmarketing.com/featured-podcasts/), and conferences. \n\n[If any of these interest you, feel free to reach out: [[email protected]]([email protected])]\n\n**New Captain of the NSM Ship**\nTo fully take advantage of that opportunity and set the right course, NSM requires a different leader. One who is better suited for this part of NSM’s mission.\n\nThat leader is [Donny Dvorin](https://www.linkedin.com/in/donnydvorin/).\n\nI first met Donny when he approached me at a ClickZ event in March 2018.
