They have used a classic branch of mathematics in a new way to see into the structure of our brains. The discovered that the brain is full of multi dimensional geometrical structures operating in as many as 11 different dimensions. While we are used to thinking in three dimensional terms, it can be a little hard to understand how we are actually structured in eleven different dimensions.\n\nThe latest brain model was produced by a team of researchers from the Blue Brain Project, a Swiss research initiative devoted to building a supercomputer powered reconstruction of the human brain. They used algebraic topology, a branch of mathematics used to describe the properties of objects and spaces regardless of how they change shape.\n\n“We found a world that we had never imagined,” says lead researcher, neuroscientist Henry Markram from the EPFL institute in Switzerland. “There are tens of millions of these objects even in a small speck of the brain, up through seven dimensions. In some networks, we even found structures with up to 11 dimensions.”\n\n“Algebraic topology is like a telescope and microscope at the same time,” says one of the team, mathematician Kathryn Hess from EPFL. “It can zoom into networks to find hidden structures, the trees in the forest, and see the empty spaces, the clearings, all at the same time.”\n\nThose clearings or cavities seem to be critically important for brain function. When researchers gave their virtual brain tissue a stimulus, they saw that neurons were reacting to it in a highly organised manner.\n\n“It is as if the brain reacts to a stimulus by building [and] then razing a tower of multi-dimensional blocks, starting with rods (1D), then planks (2D), then cubes (3D), and then more complex geometries with 4D, 5D, etc,” says one of the team, mathematician Ran Levi from Aberdeen University in Scotland.\n\n“The progression of activity through the brain resembles a multi-dimensional sandcastle that materializes out of the sand and then disintegrates.”",

      "body": "The truth is that cryptocurrencies are a complete unknown. Those people brought up on traditional asset structures, including myself, simply do not know how to mentally classify them. I understand Bitcoin, and its design as a medium of exchange was perfect.  Satoshi Nakamoto's conception was brilliant. The fact that it turned into an asset class completely threw me. The fact is that there is a generation of the internet age that simply accepts algorithmic structures as having an intangible existence. \n\nTrue, I have a strong preference for cryptocurrencies that have a use case, and tend to seek projects that are more akin to enterprises in purpose, rather than just being a Bitcoin clone. That, however, does not negate the value of the market as a whole.  As for bubbles, I have been through many financial crashes over the years. Sometimes in stocks, sometimes in property. I have seen billions of dollars in value disappear overnight. Companies collapse with regularity, whole countries often go bankrupt. It hurts me to see the Dollar balance of my Steemit account evaporate slowly, but that is the way of the market. No gain without pain.",

In September 2017, Dimon infamously said bitcoin was a “fraud”. “It’s worse than tulip bulbs,” Dimon continued in the same breath, adding “someone is going to get killed.” The Wall Street banker also threatened to fire employees trading cryptocurrencies, calling them “stupid” if they were to do so.\n\nDimon continues to be a non-believer, he revealed in remarks this week, but went on to state about that ‘fraud’ statement: “I regret making them.”",
