So I have pictures of the place while the sun is up and during the night.\n\nFood parks are cropping up within Manila, and this is one of the latest to open. Is it a good place to visit? If you’re commuting from Manila, you can ride a jeep from Cubao going to Antipolo Simbahan or to Cogeo/Padilla. Then, alight at Sta. Lucia Mall, cross the bridge to the other side and ride another jeep to Marikina Bayan. It’s less than 5 minutes away from there.\n\nMost of the food stalls open at 4pm, while a few others opened an hour later. Even before the opening, there were already a lot of people outside, taking their pictures by the entrance.\n\nI’m pretty sure news about this place spread by word of mouth, but it also recently got featured in GMA’s Good News. The Marikina Carnival Food Park is just over a month old, but the size of the crowd that I saw in both times that I’ve been here indicate that their momentum is not gonna stop anytime soon.\n\nThe Food Stalls\n---------------\n\nThere are around 10 stalls within Marikina Carnival Food Park. All of them are on the ground and the roofs are used for extra tables. It is free seating, so you can buy from any shop and sit anywhere. It’s not really bad; it just didn’t have that Mexican ‘kick’ that I was looking for. You might lose some teeth if you try to bite into it immediately after taking it from the cup. No gimmick here.\n\nMiscellaneous\n-------------\n\nIt’s a beautiful place without a doubt, but if you came for food, you’ll need at least 200 pesos to eat something decent. Also, don’t go here when you’re already REALLY hungry because in my experience, the service was rather slow. I waited at least 15 minutes for the food. The longest meal took 30 minutes (this was the chicken and beef burrito) before it was served.\n\nThe stalls are fitted in container vans, which I imagine will be very hot when summer arrives (_tipong tirik pa ang araw kahit hapon na)._ There are a lot of seating options, but if you come here during night time, I would suggest sitting on the roof so you can really get a good view of the place.\n\nYou might also want to stay away from the seats in the center of the Marikina Carnival Food Park, because that’s where the only drinks stall is located so there’s always a lot of people. I’m just not sure if these are actually free or we just happened to be lucky law violators at that time.\n\nAlso, you might want to think twice before bringing a car because there are very limited parking spots.\n\nAction Plan\n-----------\n\nBecause of the sheer number of stalls, it’s hard to choose where to eat on your first visit. I can’t really recommend anything either at this time because I feel like the shops that I tried were serving average food.\n\nOn my next visit, I would want to try something from Kuxina, Tori Joint, or Karneval.       "body": "For our Christmas getaway, my girlfriend and I were deciding to go to Tagaytay or someplace else. The Isdaan Floating Restaurant in Laguna came up in my search results for best places to go to eat and enjoy the view.\n\nI’ve heard of it before. It went a little viral in Facebook I think, when a guy uploaded photos that looks like he’s in Thailand when he’s actually still in the Philippines. My sister showed me the gallery and the giant Buddha statues instantly burned to my memory but regressed to the back of my head.\n\nMonths later, it went back to the front of my memory and thought that it would be a nice place to bring my girlfriend to.\n\nTransportation\n--------------\n\nWe went there via commute. We got on a bus at the Gil Puyat DLTB & Co. Bus Terminal that is bound for Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Being a holiday, there were not many people boarding so we were able to sit comfortably. We just told the conductor to drop us off at Isdaan Floating Restaurant. He was already familiar with it.\n\nFunny thing, though, after the bus got off the terminal, it’s not even 5 seconds and we almost got into an accident already! Our bus was a couple of inches away from hitting another bus from the same terminal.\n\nAfter that initial event, however, it was smooth sailing. There was no traffic within Manila so we were able to get to the expressway quite early. After an hour of straight roads, the bus made a right turn. Another hour and we were passing through the town of Calamba. A few minutes later and Isdaan Floating Restaurant is already at our left.\n\n_**You can’t miss it.**_\n\nLocal Thailand\n--------------\n\nI know that the Philippines is a multi-cultural country and that we are fairly good at imitating stuff from abroad. This restaurant feels genuine, though. There were a lot of Buddha statues and mermaids scattered all over the place that loom over the visitors. But there are also other activities that you can enjoy at Isdaan Restaurant Laguna to extend your stay.\n\nIn the middle of the whole space is a platform where different performers show off their skills. There was singing, dancing, acrobatics, and more shows that went live during the first half of the day. You don’t have to pay for the ride but there is a compulsory P20 tip for the boatman, which is fair. The cruise lasts around 5 minutes and brings you around the left side of the premises. Just get a bamboo fishing rod at the side of the pond, attach some bait and wait away! We tried it for about 30 minutes before ultimately giving up empty-handed. There was one couple, though, that was able to hook a medium-sized fish. They can choose to have it cooked for them to eat, no extra charges.\n\nThe Food..?\n-----------\n\nWe were not able to take pictures of the food (I’m not sure why) but all I can remember is that we were really stuffed. There are no single servings here; each item on the menu is good for 2-4 people so you better bear that in mind. We ordered _Ginataang Manok_ and crab fried rice.\n\nBoth had a mild taste so I had to add in some fish sauce for it to be more flavorful. We were almost not able to finish all of the food but I pushed my stomach to the limit! I think it took a good half-hour before the food was served so the shows were very much appreciated. We spent a little over P600 for the meal. Overall, I would rate the food and experience to be 7/10.\n\nThe People\n----------\n\nI have the impression that the people working at the Isdaan Floating Restaurant are efficient but not as friendly as expected.\n\nThe guy at the help desk was looking away while speaking to me when I asked for information. There was someone in a Donald Duck costume who took pictures with me and my girlfriend and then solicited money from us (we thought it was for free; he was hiding cash in his hand). The waiter who took our order sounds impatient while we chose our food.\n\nI think the only nice person we spoke with was the boatman, and that was even before we gave him his tip!\n\n_**And that concludes our visit!**_\n\nIf you’re planning on visiting the restaurant, I would suggest to maximize the view and activities and minimize interaction with the staff. It’s fun to explore all corners of the restaurant because you’re sure to find something quirky and photo-worthy wherever you go! There is a large parking area if you choose to bring a private vehicle, but it fills up quickly during lunch and dinner.\n\nIt would be best to stop by in the afternoon and stay into the evening because that’s when the good performances are being shown. The Isdaan Floating Restaurant in Laguna came up in my search results for best places to go to eat and enjoy the view.\n\nI’ve heard of it before. It went a little viral in Facebook I think, when a guy uploaded photos that looks like he’s in Thailand when he’s actually still in the Philippines. My sister showed me the gallery and the giant Buddha statues instantly burned to my memory but regressed to the back of my head.\n\nMonths later, it went back to the front of my memory and thought that it would be a nice place to bring my girlfriend to.\n\nTransportation\n--------------\n\nWe went there via commute. We got on a bus at the Gil Puyat DLTB & Co. Bus Terminal that is bound for Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Being a holiday, there were not many people boarding so we were able to sit comfortably. We just told the conductor to drop us off at Isdaan Floating Restaurant. He was already familiar with it.\n\nFunny thing, though, after the bus got off the terminal, it’s not even 5 seconds and we almost got into an accident already! Our bus was a couple of inches away from hitting another bus from the same terminal.\n\nAfter that initial event, however, it was smooth sailing. There was no traffic within Manila so we were able to get to the expressway quite early. After an hour of straight roads, the bus made a right turn. Another hour and we were passing through the town of Calamba. A few minutes later and Isdaan Floating Restaurant is already at our left.\n\n_**You can’t miss it.**_\n\nLocal Thailand\n--------------\n\nI know that the Philippines is a multi-cultural country and that we are fairly good at imitating stuff from abroad. This restaurant feels genuine, though. There were a lot of Buddha statues and mermaids scattered all over the place that loom over the visitors. This is a HUGE statue that you can see even from afar. There was one couple, though, that was able to hook a medium-sized fish. They can choose to have it cooked for them to eat, no extra charges.\n\nThe Food..?\n-----------\n\nWe were not able to take pictures of the food (I’m not sure why) but all I can remember is that we were really stuffed. There are no single servings here; each item on the menu is good for 2-4 people so you better bear that in mind. We ordered _Ginataang Manok_ and crab fried rice.\n\nBoth had a mild taste so I had to add in some fish sauce for it to be more flavorful. We were almost not able to finish all of the food but I pushed my stomach to the limit! I think it took a good half-hour before the food was served so the shows were very much appreciated. We spent a little over P600 for the meal. Overall, I would rate the food and experience to be 7/10.\n\nThe People\n----------\n\nI have the impression that the people working at the Isdaan Floating Restaurant are efficient but not as friendly as expected.\n\nThe guy at the help desk was looking away while speaking to me when I asked for information. There was someone in a Donald Duck costume who took pictures with me and my girlfriend and then solicited money from us (we thought it was for free; he was hiding cash in his hand). The waiter who took our order sounds impatient while we chose our food.\n\nI think the only nice person we spoke with was the boatman, and that was even before we gave him his tip!\n\n_**And that concludes our visit!**_\n\nIf you’re planning on visiting the restaurant, I would suggest to maximize the view and activities and minimize interaction with the staff. It’s fun to explore all corners of the restaurant because you’re sure to find something quirky and photo-worthy wherever you go! There is a large parking area if you choose to bring a private vehicle, but it fills up quickly during lunch and dinner.\n\nIt would be best to stop by in the afternoon and stay into the evening because that’s when the good performances are being shown.       "body": "I only became active on crypto exchanges recently. Just a little over a month ago, if I remember correctly. My portfolio back then has been relatively steady, maybe fluctuating at +-8% a week. I would wake up happy when I see my money go up a few bucks, and sad when it went down by just as much the next day.\n\nBut just this past week, my whole investment portfolio gained almost 50%! I was so excited to see those greens that I almost fell off my chair!\n\n## Early Experiences\nWhen I started learning about Cryptocurrencies, I only knew about Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bitcoin is already at outlandish prices for me, so I would buy some of it and convert straight to Ether. I would use Shapeshift.io to convert, then I would store the Ether away into Exodus (you know, that great looking desktop wallet).\n\nThen, I started watching some Youtube channels. Actually, my main purpose was to learn *MORE* about Ethereum, but then I got to see watch some active YouTubers that talk about \"Altcoins\" that can give me better gains in the short-term. Of course I was instantly hooked.\n\nAfter learning a bit about altcoins, I thought about diversifying my portfolio by selling off some Ether. I then bought some GNT and EOS, purely for the reason that they are also coins supported by Exodus. \n\nNow, I realize that this is an *extremely stupid* reason to buy a coin. But I did buy them and I did the same thing with Ether, which is storing them away in hopes of getting those huge returns.\n\n## The Move that Gave Me that 50%\nThis Monday, there was a lot of buzz surrounding what was dubbed as the \"Ethereum of China.\" I am a believer in Ethereum, but the price right now is already high and is currently what I've decided to just keep on holding until it beats BTC (hopefully).\n\nAnd then here comes a coin from China called NEO (Formerly Antshares) that is said to be the next ETH, with prices of just under $10. I sold off all my GNT and EOS and bought that NEO soon. I also invested a good amount of my cash savings, and hoped for the best. I entered this market at around $16 and while yes it might be a little expensive, the price has appreciated a lot by now and my investment has already doubled! (I'm getting all excited again at this moment...)\n\n## After the Rush\nThe adrenaline from NEO is almost wearing off, but I think this has become the start of an addiction. I've registered on 3 different exchanges recently, and have traded more crypto in the past 3 days than in the past month.\n\nI spent a little on OMG and on CVC upon the recommendation of the YouTubers that I mentioned earlier. And it's such a shame that I could invest only so little because I don't have the funds to go big. I got some good %returns on OMG and CVC, but again, small investments so just small rewards.\n\nI am holding on to my OMG coins, but I was thinking that CVC would go down for the next few days. I sold all my CVC to grab some ADX, which I did only because it was going at 150% return when I saw it on Bittrex! After realizing how irresponsible that was, I sold all my ADX off again, this time buying PAY and STORJ.\n\nI also have a good amount of money and faith on DNT. If you don't know about it yet, I recommend that you go and check them out before they get listed on the big exchanges. Basically DNT or the District0x Network Token represents a network of decentralized communities and markets. Think of it as an \"Ethereum for people\", with districts or communites being the \"dAPPS\". That's how I understand it.\n\nThose 100%++ returns are so tempting, but I don't want to be a day-trader yet so right now, I'm just holding on to what I got and researching as I wait for new \"investable\" money to come.\n\n## More Coins I'm Looking At\nI am also looking into buying the following coins once I deposit fresh funds into my online accounts:\n- ANT: For unstoppable organizations. I think the price of ANT will rise in relation to DNT's price.\n- XEM: (Needs more research and observation)\n- VOX: Platform for creation of Virtual Reality games (which is an industry expected to boom in the coming years)\n- BAT: From the founders of Javascript and Mozilla. This is an ad-centric project. They have their own web browser which I think is neat.\n- EOS: (Needs more research and observation)\n- STRAT: (Needs more research and observation)\n- WAVES: (Needs more research and observation)\n\nHow about you? He has noticed that the bot he was playing against was too \"robotic\" and you can tell when it is performing its calculations, or\n2. The bot is too \"perfect\" and you can tell that the one he is playing against is devoid of any human error.\n\nWhichever it is among the two, I think it is safe to say that we have to be more gentle with our computers, and we need to *start the habit today in case AI becomes our overlords in the future*.\n\nFellow Dota 2 player? There are ways to promote steemit while removing all the obstacles. About reddit, steemit has the perfect behavior paradigm. I have been here long enough to know it. Where are you at. If you accessible, we can discuss, having a meetup with your friends over sponsored meals etc and let's see how we can get them on steemit. Don't worry, we will simply empower them. As for celebrities, that will happen overtime and is in the pipeline. That will happen strategically.",

      "body": "Hey guys. My name is Jerem. I hail from one of the many islands of the Philippines and I'm new here at Steemit (So new that I haven't even introduced myself before this post). This is my first post, so please forgive the wall of text.\n\nI actually got compelled to write this story because of a trending article that I read here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@surpassinggoogle/the-road-map-to-sustainable-steemit-growth-in-the-philippines-and-asia-powered-by-the-steemit-communty\n\nIn the above post, the author was talking about developments in Steemit growth in my locale, and also outlining his ideas on how to grow further mainly through small meetups and events.\n\nIt was a good read, and was very exciting for me knowing that I'm a part of something before it was (potentially) cool. In this post, I’d like to give my 2 cents on the matter. I do think that Steemit has a good chance of growing in the Philippines. Why?\n\n# One, because we are a country of social media addicts\n\nA patiently-listening friend is all you need to waste the day away. It's become a pastime, you know. We were slow before to adapting technology, so when other countries were already entertaining themselves with TV and the internet, Filipinos killed time the old-fashioned way; chit-chatting with the neighbors.\n\nAnd now that we HAVE adapted the TV and the internet, the gossiping habit never really got lost. We still like talking, only this time, it's through Facebook and Twitter.\n\nMy country has been dubbed the \"social media capital of the world\". It has been for years in a row. A huge percentage of the population has internet access, and most if not all of them have at least one social media account. \n\nAnd these awards, if you can call it that, are not just for show; we are really active socialites. Going viral is a normal thing because we like sharing and getting likes for the things that we share (which I believe is one of the central features of Steemit). And when we go offline, that viral thing we saw online is going to spread via word of mouth. Whatever we experience, we just want to share with others.\n\n# Another thing about Steemit that might appeal to Filipinos is the incentive. \n\nFilipinos love freebies, especially if that freebie is money. In fact, this is so true that people are willing to even give away money, just to get even more. We have all kinds of different scams going on in the Philippines. Even the __simplest, who-would-be-stupid-enough-to-fall-for-this__ types of scams are working because we are very easy to fool when it comes to money.\n\nNow, imagine telling someone that they can earn money just by doing what they have already been doing for 4 hours a day, 365 days a year; sharing stuff online to their friends… They’d jump at the idea without a doubt.\n\nYes, I understand that money isn’t really the point of Steemit, it’s being able to talk about what you want, with the Steem dollars incentive just being the encouragement. But still, I think this is a huge selling point.\n\nSo if I were to suggest ways on how to let Filipinos know about Steemit, my main suggestion will be: to use celebrities. Filipinos are SO OBSESSED with celebrities. \n\nBad movies earn big bucks just because of who's starring in it. Albums are going platinum from artists who are famous but obviously can't sing. Manny Pacquiao's mom has become an effective product endorser, just because she's the mother of our country's most famous sportsman.\n\nWe are so good at making things popular even if they shouldn’t be (just look at the *pabebe girls*).\n\nA familiar face is one to be believed. If a celebrity here uses Steemit, I'm sure their fanbase would follow suit. You don't even have to gun for big-time TV stars, just our Instagram celebrities would do. Even just small bloggers should at least increase visibility!\n\nJust invite a blogger to try out the platform and let them know about the features of this site. Give it a week, and it should spread like butter on a hot toast. I read that there are already events that are targeting these people, and I say focus more on them.\n\nOne obstacle that I would say is a challenge to Steemit adoption is the mystery surrounding the technology. What’s a decentralized network? What’s a blockchain? What is Steem Dollars?\n\nWhile Filipinos may like trying out something new, they are also prone to avoiding something that is not easily understood. We also have a short attention span, so when explaining Steemit to a regular Filipino, one has to be short and simple.\n\nAnother thing, if Steemit **IS** going to be next big thing here, expect that most of the users are going to be from the younger demographic. As I mentioned earlier, the internet is a relatively new thing here, so the older people are not as comfortable with it as the younger generation are.\n\nNot saying it’s a bad thing.
