      "body": "I was 20 year old college student at the University of Pittsburgh. I am finished with classes and looking for a cheap meal. I mean like 1.00 or so. I kinda live this way for a year. Not enough cash ever and usually eating rice and vegetable mash from my weekend job selling vegetables and fruit at the strip.\nI end up at \"The O\" and enter from the sandwich station and work my way around the to the pizza side. To heat up a bit. I had a 250cc old Ninja as transportation and it was October or November. Good thing that got ran over before the first snow fall.\nAfter scanning all the prices I decide I don't have enough for a slice pizza either. I already really knew that. I stand for a second and I guess I had a pretty desperate look. At least I warmed up a bit before trying to get back Monroeville.\nThis women with her 3 children says, \" You can have a slice of pizza if you like. Lord knows we have been blessed recently\", something like this.\nI sat down and we just had small talk after that. What was I studying in school, where am I living and so on.\nShe was very inviting and I would have been embarrassed but she made it so casual as if I was a family member to sit down.\nNot the craziest thing, but I just remember the amount of compassion I could feel and how starving and miserable I was.\n\nNothing special, but was sitting today drinking coffee and thought about her.",

I am interested in how he was assigned south pole.\n\nI have been reading about the attachment of naming gods to stars/ constellations. \"The Magician of Gods\" has bee very informative about this.   The interesting fact is, constellations change every 2,000 something years from the special date they are assigned due to Axial Precession. I just learned about this! For example  Spring equinox  east constellation 2,000 years ago was different from today. \n\nChanging of the pole stars takes about 26,000+ years ( I think I have this right) Since Lao Shouxing is immortal, he will be there too.",

You want to find the best for your needs NOT the best in the world. This means casting your net wide and whittling down to the best that fit your needs.\n\nYou are not just looking at price. You are also looking at factory size, product range they make and the amount of attention you are getting from them.\n\nAfter understanding this information, you should get quotes and some STOCK samples they may have in the facility to get an idea of quality.  But you are not done here. There is much much more to come.\n\nIf your item is not customised and is a standard size, chances are you can get the size and dimensions of your product NOW along with the quote. \n\nWhy is this important? Let’s kill two bird with one stone (一举两得 ) \n\nYou will be able to calculate your final cost of the goods WITH shipping.  This is a great method to figure out if this product has enough margin for you. Possibly a trading company and they do not focus only in one industry. Since they are a trading company, it will be a little higher price than working with a factory directly\n<center>[![bad choice.png](https://s6.postimg.org/rp2uuhqtt/bad_choice.png)](https://postimg.org/image/5d5213rpp/)</center>\n\n Sometimes you want a company like this, because it has all the products for niche in one place. You don’t mind to pay a little extra for the convenience.  Another benefit would be they provide some kind of customer service and QC services. \n\nContinue your search like this.  Open the pages and look at the main products page. Then click on the product that resembles what you are looking for. Take that link and place it in a side document. Some use excel, some prefer word.  My team organises everything for me now, so I am lazy.\n\nBoom, simple text file!\n<center>[![Text file boom.png](https://s6.postimg.org/hle4yca35/Text_file_boom.png)](https://postimg.org/image/auxnowmx9/)</center>\n\nNow you got 10 good suppliers you want to contact. \n\nGo to the \"contact us\" page and find out some emails, I prefer to go the website not Alibaba because I think the response is faster.  Sometimes, all they have is an Alibaba site. In your first email, you can send your QQ number so they can contact you faster. Most suppliers prefer to talk this way.  It is a great chat tool BUT not a get place to have all your records. Confirm important details that are agreed to in email, not QQ.\n\n What is QQ? \nIt is a chat platform that everyone in China uses for desktops. I suggest getting a QQ number. If you don't have it, get it. Search for \"QQ international\" for the english version\n\nWhat is Wechat?\nFor cellphone chat look up Wechat (same company). In the cellphone chat world in China, Wechat is king or should I say emperor?  Searching for this on \"Play\" or \" Itune APP\" should come up easily. \n\nSend off the email!  Wait for 2 days and if  for anyone that did not respond, I usually send one more email. Remember to keep it simple. Take a look at product description column and bulk quantity. This is when you go back to the supplier and ask WHY?\n\nWhy is “skin” 1.50 usd more then “black?”\n\nWhy is this cheaper? You will see a sock for 2 usd but you gotta order 3,000 units .\n\nThis is the part you need to look at the price and see what is being offered.  Ask questions about “why?” You will either get good information or  find out there is no good reason (then you can eliminate them).\n\n**Factory Evaluation**\nAfter you have identified you top 3 suppliers that have fit your core needs:\n- Quality \n- Quantity\n- Price\n- Speed\n\nIt is time to get more info on the suppliers themselves. You already have a quote at this point but you need to get into more of the nitty gritty of your project now. Out of four above, what are the **two** that fit your needs absolutely best.  \n\nThis is where you double down and start getting samples made of your product with those two suppliers.  I would first get stock samples of what the factory already produces.  This is will give you a good idea of who you want to continue with.  When you feel you like you have a good idea of who you plan to continue you with, you then can concentrate your efforts on make a custom sample for yourself.\n\nIf your project is big and complicated, starting samples with two suppliers is not really and option. This is why the first two steps of factory Identification & factory evaluation are very important. In the event the one option does not work out, you have a vetted second choice that is familiar with your product from the beginning.\n\nWe are going to talk about negotiation in the next post. Some people are lucky enough to have gained experience through previous work. \n\nI did not. \n\nIf you have zero experience, the best way is to start contacting suppliers and asking questions about the product you are interested in. You will start learning about that product and all the different levels of quality that it comes in. You might be selling on Amazon and you understand what sells.That will be your starting point. \n\n**The Choice: Off the shelf or custom**\n\nOff the shelf means it is a product that already exists and they might even have it in stock. The product the factory makes to sell is what you buy. Usually it will be their own Chinese brand but a lot of suppliers are open to OEM. OEM means you can take the product they make and put your brand name on it. The only changes that could be made here is adding a logo or changing the box it is packed into something more attractive.  Some other options will be available from product to product\n\nExample of EOM , they look oddly familiar don't they? Making something 100 percent will be expensive and time consuming. You should also have a good idea how it is built. I recommend making your first custom samples in your home country. Sometimes it is more expensive but sending it to China the first time will be a disaster.\n\nIf you are trying to get something off the ground now, don't go with your dream. Go with something simple and get a win underneath your belt. Once you understand more, you will be better prepared to tackle that long road.\n\nThis is where **factory identification** and **factory evaluation** will come in handy.(We will talk in a future post)\nYou are going to want to find a supplier that already works with the material or product you want to buy or create. Be as close to your original product or idea. It sounds logical but you would be surprised how many people try to fit a square peg in a round hole. \n\nI cannot tell you **WHAT** to make, you will have to do the research on that.\n\n**Resistance from others**\n**I am not happy with the product/ supplier/ action from supplier**\nQuestions we need to ask:\n1. Are you working with the correct supplier for your needs?\n2. Do we have clear goals? Are we clearly articulating our goals to the supplier? \n\nThere might be some natural conflicts that you are unaware of when dealing with a new supplier.\n\nFor example:\n**Quantity**\nYour order quantity is 20,000 units , the factory size 1000sq/f ( 100 sqm)  and has 15 people.  (Small) \nYour quantity is attractive to them, but they are not big enough to handle your order in a timely manner.  \n\n<center>[![small factory.jpg](https://s6.postimg.org/739dum781/small_factory.jpg)](https://postimg.org/image/hq3701fd9/)</center>\n<center>http://www.panoramio.com/photo/5895724</center>\n\nSomething else to note. In the case the supplier is much smaller than your capacity, they could be in a position to fail. This risk of failure is tied to money.  Since the supplier is so small, in the case something big goes wrong, they simply do not have the capacity or money to make it right.  Pretty much leaving you with nothing and no where to go. \n\nOn the other side of the coin. Let's find the biggest and best supplier!  Yet we run into problems again. If you are ordering 20,000 units of something and that is the **daily** output from the factory, this is set up to fail as well. \nIt is not attractive enough to the supplier to keep their interest. \n\n<center>[![big factory.jpg](https://s6.postimg.org/y2d8prtox/big_factory.jpg)](https://postimg.org/image/9ymh1hb7x/)</center>\n\n When things go wrong, there is not a real incentive to fix it. Large China factories are based on economy of scale. Your order does not even move their meter. If you do get into a supplier like this, the common problems may be no customer service and/or when there is a problem they could simply ignore it. \n\n**Quality**\n Everyone has different ideas about quality and it varies from product to product as well.  You need to specify what that means to you, your product and your market. A good question to ask the supplier is, “ What is your major export market?” A supplier works with people from all over the world with different quality expectations. What sells in USA, might not sell in Turkey. Being clear on what quality they produce and what you need are vital. \n\nA lot can be found out about the product when you get a sample. Remember we are not getting samples from all ten suppliers we contacted. Just the top three. Once you get a sample in your hands of the product it will help you understand what you are dealing with. \n\n**Price**\nIt is not just about high and low. It is important to consider the other factors you require in the product as well. Make sure your price requirement is inline with the quality and quantity you are asking for. I look for an apple to apples comparison when I look at price. \n\n1. Does the price match with what I asked for?\n2. Does the other cheap/ expensive suppliers match your requirement ( This is when people get lured in! They see a cheap price and don't look if the supplier is quoting you on the correct materials and quality!)  \n3. When looking at quotes understand why the supplier is the highest price , understand why supplier is the lowest.\n\n**Speed**\nWe are not just talking about how fast something gets made. It is about the complete time from beginning to end. Don't promise your new customer it will be here on X date and don't account for all the other things you need to do.  Production time to make your goods maybe 30 days BUT you need to consider the time it takes for you:\n\n1. Quote products and qualify ( 7 days )\n2. Make samples (7- 14 days) \n3. Receive samples  (5 days)\n4. Make corrections  (7-14 days) \n5. Production time (30 -70 days) \n6. Possible delays (? days) \n7. Quality control inspection (1-3 days) \n8. Reworks to the product IF something is found wrong (? days) \n9. Then finally shipping time to get to you (30 days by ocean)\n\nFor a beginner, a good day is a total of 87 days from concept. Products and factories vary in timelines. This is a good estimate to go with when you are starting. \n\nSHORT CUT? - This time could be significantly cut down if:\n\n1. Choose a product the supplier has in stock.\n2. Have you calculated the time you need and does it match with what the supplier can give you?\n\n**I am going to throw something new at you…**\nYou need to only pick **two** that are most important to you. Because you **CANT** have all four.  Two is likely , three is a rare and four is a Unicorn.\n\nYou want HIGH quality product, at a LOW quantity and you want it CHEAP? Not going to happen.\n\n You want HIGH quality product, at a HIGH quantity to get the COST SAVINGS you are looking for but will not be cheap.\n\nCHEAP products will be LOW quality products at HIGH quantities.
