      "body": "As we move into the new year it is the perfect time to reflect on the year that has gone by and remember all the highs and lows. The year that the team came together with an idea that was too good to not pursue. Everdragons came to light on Jan 13th 2018 and the wheels started moving. It was decided pretty early on that Everdragons would be a true blockchain gaming platform as oppose to a blockchain enhanced browser game. We believe this birth of blockchain gaming provides a unique and short window to innovate and lay the foundations for the future of gaming and indeed blockchain. With that, we spent 2018 doing the ground work, creating a secure infrastructure and laying the foundations upon which Everdragons will grow and grow.       "body": "With so many blockchains available today, with varying consensus it can get confusing. Users are interested in the same important question: How much will my transactions cost?\n\n<center>![transaction-fee-top.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbYJCjoS1P1Bd3T4MAwNicLk5dR51Y89W78XJqjLUfB7c/transaction-fee-top.jpg)</center>\n\n<b>Why do we need transaction fees?</b>\nA decentralized blockchain consists of many independent nodes that all reach consensus via the blockchains protocol. Since the keyword here is independent, there needs to be an incentive for running a node. This incentive is usually a monetary incentive and partially provided by the transaction fees of the users. In other words: Transaction fees pay for infrastructure.\n\nAnother reason for transaction fees is to make sure that users don’t squander the networks resources. A decentralized network without fees would quickly be exploited. In other words: Transaction fees protect the network.\n\nNow that we know that transaction fees are important let’s see what the following three networks with different consensus have to offer.\n\n<b>Ethereum</b>\n\nEthereum is the original smart contract blockchain using Proof of Work (PoW) consensus. In PoW the important nodes are run by miners. There is no limit to the amount of miners that can join the network, and they are all competing against each other by solving mathematical problems. The fastest miner to solve each problem creates the next block and gets rewarded. To do so a miner needs special hardware and burns a lot of electricity. With incoming electricity bills and the constant need to upgrade hardware, the rewards must be significant to provide a financial incentive to miners.\n\nOn Ethereum the transaction is calculated by multiplying the Gas with the gas price.\n\n<b>Gas:</b> This is the computing power and storage the network must provide to execute and save the transaction. For a simple financial transaction it is always the same but to interact with smart contracts or dApps it will vary. This is a little tricky as the amount of Gas that is needed is only calculated by the miner when the transaction is being executed. To know in advance how much gas is needed requires the user or the provider of the dApp to estimate or judge by past transactions of the same type.\n\n<b>Gas price:</b> Gas price is the amount a user pays per unit of gas/computing power and is specified by the user who makes the transaction. It is paid in the native currency of the blockchain. The gas price is then used by the miners to rank transactions for inclusion in the blockchain. A higher gas price for the same type of transaction is more interesting for a miner than a lower gas price, so this may determine the speed of the transaction. Due to the PoW consensus the transactions are relatively expensive, especially in times of high network load.\n\n<b>POA Network</b>\n\nPOA Network is a blockchain using Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus. Instead of an unlimited number of miners there is a predefined number of validators that execute the transactions and build the blocks. Each validator builds a block in turn, making the chain very light weight and cost efficient.\n\nTransaction fees on POA Network are calculated by multiplying the Gas with a fixed price.\n\n<b>Gas:</b> This is the computing power and storage the network must provide to execute and save the transaction. For a simple financial transaction it is always the same but to interact with smart contracts or dApps it will vary. This is a little tricky as the amount of Gas that is needed is only calculated by the validator when the transaction is being executed. Due to the PoA consensus the transactions are very low cost and a more complex system for transaction fees is not necessary. It is not meant to cover the case of a high load as it aims for horizontal scalability.\n\n<b>TRON</b>\n\nTRON is a blockchain using Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus. The transactions are executed and the blocks are built by a predefined number of Super Representatives (SR). Each SR builds a block in turn, making the chain light weight and cost efficient.\n\nTransaction fees on TRON are a combination of Bandwidth and Energy, each multiplied with a fixed price.\n\n<b>Bandwidth:</b> This is the storage the network must provide to execute and save the transaction. For a simple financial transaction it is always the same but to interact with smart contracts or dApps it will vary. It can easily be calculated before being executed simply by the amount of bytes a transaction has.\nTRON provides a daily amount of free Bandwidth to each address that is sufficient for about 15 financial transactions.\n\n<b>Energy:</b> This is the computing power the network must provide to execute the transaction. For a simple financial transaction it is always zero. Energy is needed to run smart contracts or dApps. As with Gas, the required amount of Energy varies for different transactions. This is a little tricky as the amount of Energy that is needed is only calculated by the SR when the transaction is being executed. To know in advance how much Energy is needed requires the user or the provider of the dApp to estimate or judge by past transactions of the same type.\nFrozen assets: There is a third component to TRON transactions. A user can freeze any number of native currency to gain free daily Bandwidth or Energy. The more assets that are frozen, the higher the number of free transactions. Freezing assets will shorten the supply of the native currency, thus driving the prizes up and making the payouts for the SRs more lucrative. These dragons do not have any advantage in the games over dragons who do not have an egg, however they can spawn a dragon cub every time they reach 100 XP.\n\n<b>Domain:</b> Dragons belong to one of 4 domains, Fire, Water, Earth or Air (like the dragon above). When your Everdragon joins a game, it’s fullness decreases. Dragons can be fed with POA or TRX (depending on which network your dragon is on) and they can win gold coins in the games which can be used to feed dragons or exchanged for POA/TRX.\n\n<b>Power Source</b> (purple lightning bolt): Each dragon has a power source number between 1 and 32. Everdragons power source numbers come into play in the games where it links the dragons to off chain events or determines it’s positioning in certain games etc.\n\n<b>Prestige</b> (gold medal): Prestige is awarded to dragons who win in the games. Prestige can be ‘spent’ to host your own game. Meaning selecting from a preset criteria of games and variables such as number of participants, start time, how much fullness required etc.\n\n<b>Experience</b> (silver star): Experience is awarded to Everdragons every time they participate in a game. With the space mostly occupied by startups and indie game developers, there is a short window to be creative and become a key player before bigger names enter the space.\n\nLike many other blockchain games, Everdragons drew their initial inspiration from the disruptive potential of the ERC721 standard as created and demonstrated by Axiom Zen with Cryptokitties. With this in mind, a huge focus when creating Everdragons was on breaking new ground with almost every aspect of the platform. The team sees blockchain as a new age of technology capable of transforming and enhancing our day to day lives and activities. However it is important to not burn resources trying to compete with or recreate conventional technologies that already exist. Everdragons demonstrates this by setting aside 3D engines and complicated animations, for now, to focus on pioneering and realizing new ideas. Instead the team focused on creating beautiful, player owned, digital artwork with the smart contract guaranteeing 100% uniqueness. Players are safe in the knowledge that it is impossible to create the same dragon twice, adding value to their assets. \nThe game play of Everdragons offers more new technology with the use of oracle services to include off chain events to power the dragons. The possibilities are endless with dragons initially being powered by cryptocurrency courses and future plans already made to include major global events.\nEverdragons recent expansion to POA was another huge technical achievement with the creation of the ERC721 bridge to transfer assets from one network to another as a dynamic and responsive solution to the recurring congestion of the Ethereum network. \nAs always with pioneering work, there are a lot of tasks with no point of reference, but we believe that this is one of the ways to keep Everdragons at the forefront of technological advancements and therefore a key player in the space.\n\n<b>Empower players and protect their investments</b>\n\nA huge point of consideration for any blockchain game is the economics. This new age of gaming is seeing a shift in player-platform dynamics with players investing time and money in the platforms assets. With this in mind blockchain game creators should be compelled to create a game and ecosystem that maintains the value of the assets and in turn protects the investments of the players. \nTherefore, it was of great importance to the team that Everdragons was created with the intention of long-term playability and value stability. \nOne of the ways Everdragons is protecting the value of players assets is the creation of the Scarcity Control Algorithm which generates dragons on a supply and demand basis so there is neither a shortage nor excess of dragons which would create peaks and troughs in dragon prices as demand varies. Instead the value of the dragons is mostly determined by the amount of games it participates in. \nAnother of the many implementations protecting asset value in Everdragons is their unique advancements on the ERC721 standard. With this the team can make use of the public ledger for marketing opportunities, such as airdrops, whilst protecting the economy of the platform. \nA common misconception with NFTs is that they are 100% player owned. What most players do not realize is that when they purchase a digital asset that they essentially own the code but not the image.       "body": "Everdragons has recently expanded to POA and the players are enjoying a much faster and cheaper blockchain. However, for players who are used to gaming on another chain, moving to another blockchain can seem like a lot of work or a little daunting. It’s not! \nHere I will explain just how easy it is to start using POA today.\n\n<b>Wallet</b>\n\nTo begin using POA you will need to decide which wallet you would like to use. A huge advantage of POA is you can use the same wallet and even the same address you have been using for ETH. \nAt Everdragons we mostly recommend MetaMask and Nifty for PC users, and Trust for mobile users.\n\n<b>MetaMask</b>\n\nIf you are already using MetaMask, you may want to continue using it for gaming on POA. MetaMask does not have POA preselected as default so you will need to add it. You can now select POA as a network by clicking https://core.poa.network\n\n<i><b>NB.</b> Even when POA is selected MetaMask will display your POA as ETH. You may think you have struck lucky and inherited a fortune but you haven’t. Be sure to not look at the USD value displayed, instead check out the exchange rate of POA… or use Nifty!</i>\n\n<b>Nifty</b>\n\nNifty is a fork of MetaMask. It looks and works similarly with the key difference being it already has POA integrated. \nNifty is a Chrome extension and can be downloaded here. \nYou can create a new account (make sure to keep your 12 word phrase in a safe place) with a secure password, or import an account from another wallet with JSON files or private key. You can switch accounts any time on Trust by clicking Settings then Wallets then select your POA wallet. When selected it will be displayed with a small blue tick.\n\n<b>Getting POA</b>\n\nCoinmarketcap keeps an up to date list of exchanges where you can get POA here.\n\nOne of the simplest we found and recommend to the community is COINSWICTH. Here you can exchange Eth, BTC or USD to POA in a few steps, and you don’t even have to register.\n\n1. Enter the address you would like the POA sent to. \n2. Send ETH/BTC to the address given or enter credit card details. \n3.
