      "body": "My government has made me feel like I have to cover my face to express dissenting opinions regarding the directions many countries have taken since those hopeful early days of the Kennedy Presidency. I was a good scout, an officer, and a combat veteran. I’m embarrassed to admit I was thoroughly indoctrinated by my government and institutions to serve; most Americans were in those simple, easy days.\n\nI spent nearly two years as a combat pilot and Air Mission Commander in Vietnam – back in that naive time in my life when I believed in my government. I was well into my second tour of duty before the penny dropped and I realized that an alarming number of commanders were dangerously incompetent and my government was corrupt. The country was riven. Returning soldiers received not a hero’s welcome, but scorn and derision. That experience was a WTF Moment in my life. I decided it was a big world and there was no reason to remain in ‘Murica; it was definitely not the country I imagined it to be as a good little Boy Scout.\n\nAfter Vietnam, I spent my career everywhere but ‘Murica. Recall the saying, “Love it or Leave it.”  Well… how can one love an entity that tried to get me killed for no other reason than crass economic and political gain – mostly economic. I figured, instead of spending energy as an angry young man, it would be far more productive to just move along. It’s a big, beautiful world out here. It's said that people get the government they deserve. It's telling that we got President Trump and hordes of religious zealots with their minds and hearts firmly fixed in a past American Dream that never really existed.\n\nI’m disdainful of the religious direction ‘Murica has taken in the past 30 years or so. So many people claim to be doing “god’s” work for the Good Ole USA!!! The collective consciousness seems to me like Slim Pickens in the parody film, Dr. Strangelove, riding astride the Big One insanely waving his cowboy hat on the way to Ground Zero. Yeehawww! ... \n\n\"Sweet land of Liberty...\"  those words taste like bulldust in my mouth. The Liberty of having my mail and private conversations and other private and personal details recorded and monitored by governmental agencies. The Liberty of having political and religious numpties squander the country's resources supporting the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower cautioned about. The Liberty that uses drones to wipe out women and kids going to weddings and other gatherings and then says, \"Oooops, sorry 'bout that.\" Ooooh, Thaaaat Liberty. Wake up, America!\n\nIncreasingly, from an outside perspective, it’s difficult see much difference between repressive theocratic governments of the Mideast and the ever growing theocratic movements in ‘Murica. I can’t speak for any deity that might exist; however, I don’t think bombing, blasting, destabilizing, and generally being imperialist furthers any god’s plan for humanity. Just sayin’… That assessment applies to all governments and societies that it describes.\n\nA number of years ago I attended a protest rally about a particularly vile government action. It was not in the USA. After the rally, a clean-cut American guy approached me in a friendly manner. As we chatted, he started to pump me for personal information regarding my views and personal details. The hairs on the back of my neck tingled as we morphed from chatting to an interrogation. I cut short the interview and left. That's why I now wear a mask.\n\nI come to Steemit to express ideas that I hope will offer another perspective and to look for others’ ideas to help improve our existence.       "body": "The vast majority of us work to actually produce some form of productive output. Those above, hummmm. They are all about control and are interlinked. Societies have entrusted far too much authority to these classes, as it's my conviction that The PPP work in concert to achieve the ends of the behind-the-scenes ruling class. So, what's new?\n\nA debate rages in some countries regarding the energy sector fighting back against the rightful community opposition to fracking. Their latest ploy is to convince the population that unless energy companies are able to frack/burn coal, families will have to choose between warmth in winter and food. Energy has manipulated the cost of gas to the point where the gas they export is over 50-percent less expensive in far away lands than it is domestically. Shame on the government for allowing this to occur. Shame on the media for not calling this for what it is. Shame on us for allowing them to get away with it!\n\nThe politicians will support the energy lobby because it is in their present and future personal interests to do so - think donations and job security and cushy jobs for the boys in political afterlife. The politicians direct the police against the community that protests for daring to want clean water and air. The priests will cluck cluck about assuring all and sundry a better life is offing in the hereafter while churches exhort funds from rich and poor alike - buy your ticket to heaven kids.\n\nThe energy situation could resolve rather quickly if The PPP's families had to endure similar conditions of the less well off. I can assure you that if The PPP had to face their cold and hungry wives and kids in the morning because the price of energy was too dear, they would have a far different idea of how to manage an energy strategy that didn't pollute or otherwise disadvantage people and the environment. Well, one can only hope.\n\nIn the meantime - get active. To the limits of legality, let The PPP know the situation is not acceptable. Look what is happening in the UK and in America. France had a shot at change but they punked out with a bankerboychick. In any case, if we remain silent, we are complicit - some liken the situation to turkeys voting for Thanksgiving.",

They create license to access and record our innermost thoughts and interactions. They draft laws that, decades ago, were considered as science fiction glimpses into future dystopian societies. Well, the future is here.</p>\n<p>It seems they fail to comprehend that it their slavish devotion to the military-industrial enterprise and general greed that are the root causes of the very evils they they seek to combat.</p>\n<p>Politicians would do well to remember that their political careers will at some point end; they will rejoin the unprivileged citizenry that they have incrementally made less safe and certainly less free. They and their families and associates will be subject to the same insidious laws they have drafted. Too often, their ignorance and shortsightedness regarding the Internet of Things empower authoritarian agencies to suck up oceans of private data about all of us. That information is vulnerable to being mined by the clever.</p>\n<p>I have read of a cyber group known as Anonymous that state they neither forget nor forgive. All my life I had adhered to the company line – a good and dutiful little soldier who survived a Jesuit education, combat tours in Vietnam, and senior levels in international corporate management. Life was very good and there was little need for me to think too deeply about what governments were doing in my name. I was apolitical. I was far too busy in corporate meaninglessness to devote much thought to the wider world and what was happening in it, which to me was an endless flow of shocking news that became as white noise to my consciousness. I’m not proud of that.</p>\n<p>Fortunately, Life remains good. Consciousness - perhaps conscience - has allowed the mist of self-interest to sufficiently clear and I see that many of us live a zero sum existence. We struggle to buy products we don’t need produced by people barely able to subsist using energy that is damaging the planet – madness!</p>\n<p>The Powers That Be (TPTB) have excelled in a state of continuous war adventures to sustain the global military industrial complexes administered mostly by western white males over fifty. How is that a democratic demographic? I’ve come to be aware that we, all of us, are merely acceptable collateral damage to those bands of thugs. The acts “they” commit in our names range from just dirty to horrific and the criminals remain largely unaccountable. In my estimation, modern governance models simply do not work to the benefit of most of mankind.</p>\n<p>Whilst exploring within my new world of social awareness, I came across the many works of Heather Marsh, aka Georgie BC. The first work I read by her four years ago, <em>Binding Chaos</em>, was like a vitalising drink from a cool mountain spring after a great thirst. She puts forward a practical system of social governance worthy of consideration.</p>\n<p>I’m not going to attempt to do justice to <em>Binding Chaos</em>. What I am able to do is advise you Heather’s thinking is enlightening and exciting. The very platform of Steemit is a manifestation of <em>Binding Chaos</em> and the concept of stigmergy.
