Even the famous and most worshipped Hindu mythological legend, Ramacharitamanas, which establish the ‘living sum of the Indian culture,’ has Sanskrit verses that read: “Anuj badhoo bhaginee sut naaree, Sunu sath kanya sam-e-chaaree, Inhih kudrshti biloki joee, Taahi badhen kachhu paap na hoee.”\n\n\nAvatar of Goddess Laxmi\n\nAccording to this sacred verse, a man should look upon these 4 women as avatar of Goddess Laxmi and must refrain from disrespecting them, anywhere. The following slides would explain the women, who must never be disrespected and what befalls, if one does.\n\nDaughter-In-Law\n\nWelcoming a daughter-in-law is matter of great honor; she’s not only entitled to be treated as the daughter of the house, also family’s responsibilities towards doubles. The status of the spouse of the child ought to be equivalent to one's own particular girl. It is their obligation and dharma to ensure one's girl in-law. One ought not affront the respect of a little girl in-law and neither ought to bolster the individuals who do.\n\nSister-In-Law\n\nThe spouse of your senior sibling is likened to your mom; while the wife of more younger sibling should be treated as the daughter-in-law. There's no more prominent sin than manhandling one's girl and saving even a look towards with sick aim.",

The other day during a discussion in the office,one of my colleagues made an unsavory comment and I found myself reacting emotionally. There was a nasty exchange of words. Several days after the incident,I continued to be disturbed by the exchange. As I worked towards a reconciliation with my colleague, I began to wonder why I was letting myself be hurt by such a petty event. The realization dawned that the sum total of all things is that we have only one life to live. Our time here is limited.Should we let petty things bother us? These petty things can be real emotional guzzlers. My perception of feeling hurt, and my colleague not treating me well was upsetting me. Hadn’t I done so much for him, I reasoned.\n\nBut moving to the second step in the ladder means we have to rise above the first step. Holding firmly onto the first step, actually means we are refusing to go up. Ever since I have tried to make my own rules so that I am able to rise up, above petty considerations. I think of my higher goals which are important to me. If we live our life without direction,we get stuck at different points. Goals give us a strong reason to rise above petty things. Given that there is so much we want to do with our limited time, getting caught at the lower level looks like a foolish option. Goals anchor us to what is important. So,I remind myself that given my long-term goals and aspirations and the many things that I want to do, I should not get into anything which is detrimental to my goals or takes my attention away from them. I would not want to waste time on things that really do not matter in the long run. I need to do my own karma and I have no control on the karma of others. If others don’t do their karma, it is no reason for me to stop doing my own.\n\nA lot of these ‘petty things’ don’t matter over time. If I could laugh at something six month down the line, I might as well laugh at it at the time it happens as well. It has been some time since I started changing my thought process. I have been only partially successful,but I think the journey is worth exploring and treading upon. Another thing I have learnt is that every such situation which disturbs us teaches us something about our own self. It is for us to either get stuck in the problem or to learn our lesson from it by distancing ourselves from the actual incident. Substitute the question:‘What do I feel out here?’ to ‘What is this situation trying to teach me?’ If we are miserable in one kind of situation for long,it is simply because we have not learnt our lesson so far.",

If you set an example as someone worth looking up to,you do not have to do much parenting.Here are a few points worth thinking about:\n\n1 Evaluate Yourself: Before you decide to have a child, you must evaluate yourself in every aspect — the way you sit, stand, speak, and react to situations. Ask yourself, if you were a fiveyear- old, would you like and look up to this person? Another thing you could do is spend sufficient time with children to see if they like you, and if you like them.This way, a lot of wisdom would blossom,and fertility clinics would close down :)\n\n2 Right Atmosphere: If you already have a child, all you have to do is create a loving, supportive, and invigorating atmosphere.There is really nothing to teach.Right now,when a child enters your life, it is time to learn, not to teach. Children may not know what is dangerous, what is nice, and things like that. But hopefully you have a certain wisdom about life around you, which children may not have. If they are moving towards danger, exercise your wisdom. Otherwise, children are able to conduct life more joyfully than you. Learn those aspects from them. If you try to teach your children things that you are not able to follow yourself,obviously they will see through that after some time.Your words and your behavior should match. If you create a loving and vibrant atmosphere, they will be fine.\n\n3 Climb a Tree: You have to physically nourish and mentally ignite children about things. The simplest way is to take them out into nature, where everything, from an insect to a flower, is exciting. If instead of buying more and more toys, you take the trouble of taking your children out, making them climb a tree, walking somewhere with them, taking a swim or some such thing, the child will grow up physically and mentally healthy.\n\n4 A 20-Year Project: Once you have a child, it is a 20-year project — if they do well. If they do not do well, it is a lifelong project. If you are not ready for that, you should not get into it. A child is not a personalized project.We are creating the next generation. In some way, the next generation should be at least one step ahead of where we are. If we do not aspire and work towards that,we should not have children.What is the point if the next generation is going to be just like us, nothing more? The responsibility of having a child requires involvement. Whoever is most loving, most joyful, is the one who children would like to hang around with.\n\n5 Wonderful World: Nowadays it’s not uncommon to find three-year old kids glued to the television or smartphone screen. And we don’t know what they are taking in and how they understand what’s shown there because even you can’t figure what’s going on. One moment, somebody is talking about creating a beautiful world, the next moment there is a bombing happening, the next moment something else and so on.You must expose them to all the positive,wonderful things in life.Positive things do not mean right versus wrong — simply life the way it is.\n\n6 Emotional Security: The number of people going crazy today is too large. This is mainly because they grew up in conditions where they were uncared for.Now as adults, there is serious emotional insecurity about their spouses and partners. That man or woman may leave you anytime.When there is no emotional security, humans become psychologically imbalanced. If you want a generation of people to be productive, they must be conscious or have emotional security — otherwise, they will go crazy. For most people, I would say emotions make up at least 80 per cent of who they are.Today, being emotional is equated with having negative emotions.When we say someone became very emotional, it means he went a little crazy.We have to change this concept in the world.
