      "body": "![FHS.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbBLVEQ2PH4ZuMoE8Bkk11abG7N4Ww1w7t31XgLs83JQE/FHS.png)\n\nHello, friends Today we discuss Linux filesystem hierarchy (FHS).\nfilesystem hierarchy (FHS) create the directory structure in Linux and it is released on 3rd June 2015 and latest filesystem hierarchy (FHS) is version is 3.0.\n\n\n\n1. / (slash)\n\nslash directory is called as 'root directory'.\nit is the top of the file system.\nall other directories are mounted under it.\n\n\n2. /root\n\nroot is the default home directory the administrator in Linux.\neach and every single file and directory starts from the root directory.\nin Linux /root directory is root user's home directory, which is not same to / (slash).\n\n\n3. /home\n\nhome directory stored all users personal files.\nfor example: /home/vikas, /home/gunwant. \n\n4. /boot\n\nthis directory contains booting related file \nlike boot loader and the intial ramdisk under /boot.\n\n5. /sbin\n\nsbin stored administrative commands which are used by superuser.\nlike iptables,reboot,fdisk,ifconfig,swapon commands.\n \n6. /bin\n\n/bin's contains those commands which are used by superuser and the normal users also.\nlike ps,ls,ping,grep,cp commands\n\n7. /usr\n\n/usr contains the applicaitons and programs which are available for users.\n\n8. /var\n\nstored informations such as logs and print queues.\n/var stand for varibale files. \nthis includes : system log files and it stored in /var/log, lock file stored in /var/lock\nand temp file stored in /var/tmp and it will neded  \n\n\n9. /dev\n\n/dev stored in device related files.\nfor example usb, terminal device or any other devices attached to the computers.\nlike /dev/tty1, /dev/usbmono\n\n10. /etc\n\n/etc stored all configuration files which is related to programs.\nand also stored startup and shutdown shell script\nlike : /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/logrotate.conf.\n\n11. /proc\n\n/proc means process information it stored details abourt system process.\n/proc is a virtual filesystem with text information about system resources\nfor example /proc/uptime.\n\n12. /tmp\n\n/tmp means temporary files. this directory stored temporary files created by system and users.\nall temporary files under this directroy are deleted when system is rebooted.\n\n\n13. /opt\n\n/opt stand for optional. you can install thired party software in /opt directory.\n\n14. /media\n\nit is a removable media devices. it is temporary mount directory for removable devices.\n\n15. /lib \n\n/lib means system libraries. it is stroed all library files that supports the binaries located under /bin and /sbin\nfor example : ld* or lib*.so.*",

This is my Four steemit post, in this post I  Tell You Basic architecture of Nagios Server**\n\n***Nagios Server Required:-***\n1.\tHTTP (web service)\n2.\tNagios core package.\n3.\tPHP Package.\n4.\tNagios plugins.\n(Provide different types of services set client ip).\n5.\tNagios server port.\n6.\tNRPE Package (Nagios remote plugins executor).\n\n***Nagios Server Client Required :-***\n\n1.\tInstall NRPE Package to client site.\n\n***What is Nagios?***\n\nNagios monitors your entire infrastructure to ensure systems, applications, services, and business processes are functioning properly.\n \n***There are two types of Nagios Active checks and Passive Checks.***\n\nIn Active Checks :-\nActive Checks are initiated by the nagios process.\nActive checks are run on regularly scheduled basis.\n\nIn Passive Checks :\nPassive Checks are initiated and performed by external applications/processes\nPassive Checks results are submitted to nagios for processing.\n\n***There are four objects in Nagios***\n\nHosts\nServices\nCommands\nContacts\n\n***There are two state in nagios Soft and Hard state.***\n\n**Soft States**\n \nSoft states occur in the following situations... \n\n•\tWhen a service or host check results in a non-OK or non-UP state and the service check has not yet been (re)checked the number of times specified by the max_check_attempts directive in the service or host definition. This is called a soft error. \n•\tWhen a service or host recovers from a soft error. This is considered a soft recovery. \nThe following things occur when hosts or services experience SOFT state changes: \n•\tThe SOFT state is logged. \n•\tEvent handlers are executed to handle the SOFT state. \n\n**SOFT states are only logged if you enabled the log_service_retries or log_host_retries options in your main configuration file.**\n \nThe only important thing that really happens during a soft state is the execution of event handlers. Using event handlers can be particularly useful if you want to try and proactively fix a problem before it turns into a HARD state. The $HOSTSTATETYPE$ or $SERVICESTATETYPE$ macros will have a value of \"SOFT\" when event handlers are executed, which allows your event handler scripts to know when they should take corrective action. The kernel provides and manages\ncomputer resources, allowing other programs to run and use these resources.\nthe kernel sets up memory address space for applications and loads files\nwith application code into memory.\n\n # A kernel is responsible for:\n\nprocess management for application execution.\nmemory management, allocation, and input, output.\ndevice management through the use of device drivers\nsystem call control, which is essential for the execution of kernel services\n\n\n # There are three types of kernel.\n\nmonolithic kernel\nmicrokernel and\nhybrid kernel\n\nLinux  system uses a monolithic kernel. it can execute all the operating\nsystem code in the same address space to increase the performance of the\nsystem,\n\na microkernel  runs most of the operating system services in userspace,\ni.e as servers, aiming to improve maintainability and modularity of the operating system.\n\nhybrid kernel run a few services in the kernel space and reduce the\nperformance.\n\n\nbasically, standard location of kernel is /boot for desktop and server distribution.\nto find the kernel location. see the grub.cfg and grub.conf file in Linux.\n\nto find out the kernel modules and its derivers use the below commands\n\n # echo \"Modules dir: /lib/modules/$(uname -r) for kernel version $ (uname -r)\"\n # ls -l /lib/modules/$(uname -r) to check the contains of the directory,\n\n # cd /kernel/drivers/  To check the Drivers\n # ls",
