      "body": "Excuse the late reply.\nI'm using volumetric dosing. Basically a 100ug tab in a jar of 100ml of water. People say you should use pure alcohol or at least 50% alcohol/50% water, but there really is no need. Just shake up the jar 2-3 times over a period of 24hrs. It should dissolve into the water within an hour, anyway, but I leave it to be sure.\nI generally use 10ug per day. My particular situation called for a dose every day for the first two weeks (I surprisingly had no tolerance), but I've changed back to the planned dose every third day.\n\nI'll be posting an update soon.",

It hasn't \"given\" me anything that I didn't already have, but rather lift some barriers. Most notably to think less, and more efficiently. With over-thinking out of the way I've been able to plug into Flow State with zero effort - states that include synchronicity and divine timing.\n\nI woke today with a mission: to get to the city for a weekly shop visit and to pay bills. I had about an hour for breakfast and to watch [The Leo King's weekly Astrology forecast](https://www.youtube.com/user/DavidPalmerAstrology) before I was to embark on the 40-60 minute walk to the nearby town and catch the hourly regional bus to the city. As luck would have it, my housemate got a call to do a job - lift sorted. Hopped on the bus, hopped off the bus, did my errands with 5 minutes to catch the next bus back. Took my time as it was a hot day, but made it seconds before the driver closed the door to pull off.\nNow for the trek back home from town along the rural road. I figured somebody along the way would pick me up if I hitched, but had no luck. Half way I started to fantasize that a taxi would come up behind me and I could just pay my way down the road. As I approached a T junction, what did I see, but a taxi coming along and slowing down to make a turn back into the town. I carried on walking to the point that I was 3ft from his open driver-side window. All the time wondering if it's appropriate to ask him if he's available, but it just felt too awkward, so I let him pull out and drive back to town. I started to think of myself as silly for not taking the opportunity and ultimately decided there must be a reason, and that maybe the magical appearance was more to reassure me of our magical reality rather than to bring me home. \nI got to a point where hitching would be silly. Still with 10 minutes of walking to go, it would only be 3 minutes in a car and not worth stopping someone on their journey. At that point I noticed something on the road which a car nearly crushed - it was a bird with it's guts partially hanging out. I immediately felt a bit sad for it, and although I knew it was a matter of time that a car or truck would smush it into the asphalt a part of me said to keep walking... but I stopped. If I don't pick it up, then nobody will. If I don't recognise this creature's inherent dignity and leave it somewhere natural, nobody will. I felt an urgency to do something. Almost as if they were sitting there for me, I found a flattened Diet Coke can and a big enough stone, like a makeshift dustpan and brush. Many claim to reap benefits such as alleviation of depression, anxiety, and addiction, as well as enjoying increased focus (Flow State) and creativity.</p>\n<h2>Why I'm Doing This</h2>\n<p>I'm at a point in my life where I've slayed many demons, kicked habits, and formed a solid outlook on the world. I decided to take a holiday and hang out with the family until returning home today, so I'm feeling plugged in to my family and very secure in myself. Yesterday was the hottest day in Ireland since 1979 and today is just as hot. It has its own mind-altering effect. I followed the instructions for volumetric dosing found on <a href=\"https://thethirdwave.co/microdosing/lsd/\">TheThirdWave.co</a>, but didn't consider it needed to be stirred more than a few times. Also, next time I'll up the dilution fluid to 350ml so I can just grab a standard shot glass (35ml) instead of messing with a syringe.</p>\n<p>Upon ingestion of 10mg I got a little paranoid. Such a profoundly effective substance should normally make someone weary. We have a personal experience and story, we have memories; hopes, dreams, needs. Our problems seemingly can always be traced back to our inability to see our \"Quantum selves\" - and as if that wasn't bad enough, we are surrounded by governments, corporations, cultures, family, and friends, who \"collapse our wave function\" every time they look at or think about us.       "body": "**A lot of suffering going on out there in the world, and what a shame it is in the context of our swiftly approaching mortality. We're all seemingly messed up, trying to fit into the larger crowd of messed up people, all the while being manipulated by a control system of psychopaths with the only reprieve being the illumination of a Near-Death Experience, a temporary moment of enlightenment from time to time, or death itself. Surely, we hope, there is a more permanent and reliable escape from our conditioning - in my opinion, yes there is, but we have it all a bit confused.**\n\n![headache-1910644_1280.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRhvZgBv62xz8QEYHJbVybiLBKYL9xJjMPdjZtsoFE5UR/headache-1910644_1280.jpg)\n\nI just recently got jettisoned from a powerful relationship. It only lasted a few weeks, but the bonding was lightning fast and we managed to pack about half a year into that small timeframe. It was loving, supportive, honest, easy, fun... for both involved. You might ask, \"well why did it end?\" She, innocently yet recklessly, triggered a major insecurity in myself and mismanaged the fallout. I, in turn, mismanaged my own reaction to it and trigger her major insecurity. BOOM! Suddenly, the past month couldn't compete with the perceived betrayal. A wound so deep had been reopened that she wants nothing to do with me, rejecting my misguided and confused pleas to talk with: \"Leave me alone and let me heal.\"\n\nEmotional healing is an illusion we can chase forever in almost exactly the same way a heroin addict chases the dragon - his first few big highs. When we seek emotional healing, we're chasing the dragon of *INNOCENCE* which we felt before the injury. As tough as this might be to hear, we are in fact rejecting time, maturity, and our own mortality, as the overwhelmingly-present attribute of our aging is a continual loss of innocence. When we seek out emotional healing we are making a bid to regress as far back as our biological memory can take us - back into the womb - whether that's through psychotherapy, alternative healing, psychiatric medication, drug addiction, or relationships. Whatever our crutch(es) of choice may be, we put an unreasonable expectation upon that thing or person and set ourselves up for inevitable failure - in other words, betrayal, if we're talking about a Human Being. We want to escape life itself, but reality will always find a way to seep in and displace us. In turn, we only make our lives that much harder to live and for others to embrace us fully.\n\nTo be clear, I don't know for certain what my ex meant by \"heal\", nor can I be certain what the word means to anyone else as most things of the mind and spirit are subjective. What I do know is that she needed to withdraw from me and possibly from the world to an extent. This is distinct from a search for healing as it's natural to cut out whatever hurt you as well as external influences in order to get a grasp on where you are - figuratively and literally - as well as **who you are**. When we experience a betrayal or loss, we lose track of our own identity because we have invested ourselves - and thus our identity - into that person (or thing). It is precisely at this time that we can achieve actual happiness and empowerment if we chose to turn and face the Self. Happiness that transcends what we felt when we first attained that relationship or thing, because we're still here. Our Self endures as something that transcends this, and every other, point in the space-time continuum we experience moment by moment. At the same time we are humbled by the fact that we are always susceptible to losing what we attained. If we're conscious enough to accept this revelation, we see ourselves as no better or worse than any other Human Being experiencing great joy or great poverty. In other words, our hearts get bigger and our compassion runs deeper.  We will never be the same again.\n\nI've offered you an alternative view on how to deal with betrayal and loss. It's not a solve-all, as it's not always possible to distance yourself from what or whom has hurt you. It's neither \"a cure\" for betrayal and loss, as these feelings will always be with you. You can choose to repress these memories, either through mind-bending techniques or addiction, but you will have robbed yourself of the goodness in your life at the time as well as the opportunity to become a stronger person. Chances are you will find yourself in situations that will remind you of these emotional scars and reawaken the associated feelings. Take these situations as opportunities to remember your own fragility and mortality, how content you are with your current situation, and how others may actually be in need of your kindness and protection. After a while you will find these associated feelings *fade* in their potency (Note: do not consciously attempt to make this happen), as you age and life teaches you that these experiences aren't to be taken personally.\n\nBefore you leave, let's consider the natural impulse for us to take betrayal and loss personally. In our current era, adolescence is extended into what was once called adulthood. The mind of the child takes every offense as a personal and deliberate attack. The lack of life experience and consciousness tricks us into thinking we are the only one who has experienced such a thing. We also don't realise that the other who has hurt us is likely as fragile and ignorant as we are, so we don't consider the possibility they acted simply out of hurt and ignorance. It's completely natural to feel betrayal from our self-centered perspective - in fact, it's inescapable - but we do have the choice to consider these other possibilities. These things take time, and why would I be doing so if not to eventually comfort some other poor schmuck who inevitably finds themselves where I am now? Aside from the things we'd like to accomplish, see, or experience - what else are we here for but to be here for each other? Some people might think that's trite or might not be able to grasp it at all, likely due to the brick wall of their own pain surrounding them, but I've got to lay down the law here. Can I risk ever again betting my heart on another single living creature who doesn't have that life principal firmly installed in their hearts? Days prior, news had arrived of National Police being mobilized from outside of the state to suppress what the referendum - which the federal court deemed unconstitutional. The national media made a vain attempt at framing the voting citizenry as violent rebels when the police brutally attacked them - men, women. Young, old. The question on even the minds of mainstream media such as Canada's CBC is: why? In the age of cameraphones, 5G, and social networks, why was Spain so stupid as to hand the Catalans even more reasons to separate and ammunition with which to do so? Each event and causal link is, as the old adage goes, \"written by the victors.\" We should remember when looking at this event we are already looking at history and that it is being written in real-time, unlike events of the past which have been pieced together in retrospect. Today, history is still being written by the victors - the current victors. Almost all of these places have distinct cultures and histories, and some of them even have distinct languages - one of those is Catalonia.*\n\nLast year a similar referendum was held in Scotland, the sizeable Gaelic country in the North of Britain. A push had been building for years to separate from the United Kingdom and go it alone, which is completely within Scotland's rights. The referendum failed to return a \"Yes\" vote by a considerable margin. The attitude of the Scottish establishment and many of it's citizens turned on a dime when, later that year, the United Kingdom as a whole successfully voted \"Yes\" by slim margin to withdraw from the European Union. The establishment had the Scottish people terrified of the prospect of being separated from the megastate, triggering a call for yet another referendum so they could then independently join the EU. This fact comes into play later.\n\nWith the success of \"Brexit\" in the UK, the proverbial cat was out of the bag and many more countries in the megastate began to agitate and prepare for their own withdrawal referendums. This spells doom for the EU as, they may stand a chance of surviving without the UK, but not if another country like France or Italy follows suit. Another country with strong Anti-EU sentiment on the rise is Spain. It's clear that the EU project is terminal and that it's only a matter of time before it perishes unless some ingenious strategy is employed - probably through cloak and dagger means.\n\nI propose this new strategy of preserving the European Union experiment is to stoke the embers of the various independence movements throughout Europe to segment the countries that would otherwise leave, creating an untenable situation for these smaller states, and forcing them economically and geo-politically to individually rejoin the union. Just like Scotland is (irrationally) afraid of being alone, so is Catalonia. The Spanish people, on the whole, are anti-EU, while their Catalan counterparts are pro-EU. The Spanish state, however, is also pro-EU. Those in the establishment itself are true believers of the great project of dissolving the nations of the continent to build the megastate, and so have no actual loyalty to Spain as a sovereign entity. The courts - which the establishment only controls indirectly - and the Constitution - which the establishment cannot change on a whim - makes Catalan independence a legal impossibility. Something else had to be done to accelerate the inevitability.\n\nEveryone with reasonable intelligence eventually comes to realise that the disagreeable behaviour of others is best ignored if it doesn't actually do one any harm as confrontation usually makes the other more determined in their actions. This was everyone's reaction to the police brutality inflicted on the Catalans - why didn't they just allow the referendum to go ahead, ignore the results, and arrest a few politicians for sedition? It shouldn't be such a stretch to suggest they wanted to make the separatist movement look noble and supply them with free world-wide advertising. Now the whole world is looking, as well as the EU itself, and we will naturally pressure Spain to drop the charges of sedition against the Catalan police chief, policemen, and firefighters for defending their citizens. At first glance at the materials and your personal Rave Chart it can seem quite arcane and overwhelming, with all of these numbers, planetary symbols, Centers and Channels, and I Ching Hexegrams, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming as each chart has five categories calculated from the various planetary placements, giving you something easily understood. The particulars of your chart can be left to professionals and learned later while you get to understand your Type, Authority, Profile, and Incarnational Cross, Definition. The greatest source of discord and struggle in this world is our misunderstanding of our true nature and that of others in our lives. Society is currently designed around an insistence that we are all the same, that we all relate to the world and energy in the same way. Naturally we have all internalized this to one degree or another, so we punish ourselves and punish others for not conforming to these external ideals. The first step towards breaking out of this prison and freeing others from your expectations is to understand your Type, its Strategy, and the dangers of trying to go against your nature.\n\nThere are four Types (and one sub-Type) according to Human Design, which all have their own ways of operating energetically and their own ways of relating to each Type in others. They are: Generators, Manifestors, Manifesting-Generators, Projectors, and Reflectors. They're defined by which Channels are open between which Energy Centers, but let's leave the details aside for now and look at each Type's Strategy.\n\n**Generators (66.65% of today's population):** Are defined by their Sacral Center, giving them a potentially endless source of creative energy when it is appropriately triggered. Generators do not have direct access to their Sacral energy, so their Strategy is to *Wait to Respond* to a person or event that will require their energy so that they can either reject or engage it. Generators who do not Wait to Respond and instead attempt to jumpstart the Sacral engine can find themselves in all manner of discord as they experience their Not-Self Theme of *Frustration*. Which is common in most people as, most people being Generators, are taught to be Manifestors by our society. Someone who can act purely from one's own center. This is tragic as we Generators are the engine of civilization - we see the designs and desires of our friends, family, and society, and we work endlessly to bring those into fruition. Like Reflectors, we are suited for groups, specifically because groups of people throw out a variety of stimuli for us to *Respond* to with a yes or no and give ourselves to fully. Depending on an individual's Design, however, a Generator may also thrive on being alone, yet still need an environment of stimuli of some sort. When operating normally, using their ample energy for the right projects and activities, and freely being able to run down their batteries, Generators experience the Signature of *Satisfaction*.\n\nTechnically, what makes a Generator is a Defined Sacral (meaning one or more Channels connect the Sacral Center to another), which is the source of the creative energy. However, it is not connected to the G/Identity Center (Manifesting-Generators) or the Throat Center (Manifestors), giving them no conscious control over its mediation. \n\n<hr />\n<b><i>Anecdote</b></i>: As I was writing this piece and had gotten to describing **Reflectors**, my flow began to stagnate a little as I have limited knowledge of the Type. At that moment my **Projector** housemate, who was mowing the neighbour's lawn, came and asked me to fetch petrol for the mower and some milk. Being a Generator, searching my inner Authority (which only took half a second), I switched modes instantly and prepared to get on my bike. Although my muscles and lungs are worked and my breathing laboured, I return to my original task, and not only am I not tired but even more energized.\n<hr />\n\nManifesting-Generators are more or less the same, except their Sacral Center has a Channel to the G/Identity Center.  The share the same Strategy as Generators.\n\n**Manifestors (9.58%)**:  While Generators may have built the pyramids, Manifestors laid the foundations for them to be built. They have conscious access to the Sacral Center, unlike the other Types, which finds expression in the Throat Center - where energy comes to be manifested in the subtle and material world. This means that they can create, but their job isn't to start a project and bring it to completion without the help of Generators. This Type is the archetype our society demands we all emulate, but it also insists we be Generators and work autonomously as well. Of all the Types, Manifestors and Manifesting-Generators are the most attractive to others as they alone have  access to the Throat Center, which can be very appealing and sometimes addictive for others. Their nature is to operate alone and this is where they run into their Not-Self Theme. The Strategy of the Manifestor is to *Inform Before Acting*. Their creative power may be alluring to others, just it can also be jarring in its force as they quickly make decisions and leave the rest of us in the dust. Without *Informing* they will be misunderstood and perhaps blamed, but also unsupported by others. This results in *Anger*. If you're a Manifestor, remember your power and its potential downfall. Remember to keep those around you Informed and remember also the potential of your power: when you Inform you can create wonders with your Energy-Type friends. When operating normally, Manifestors experience their Signature of *Peace*.\n\n**Projectors (22.34%)**: Probably the trickiest Type to be incarnated as today. So tricky, in fact, that Projectors are often given discounts and special attention when learning Human Design. As with everything in life, the power and shadow of something is always equally matched. Projectors are strong and intelligent minds, here to understand and guide others, as well as analyse and improve systems and technology, and are literally suited for nothing else. It's even often said within Human Design that Projectors aren't supposed to labour at all. Along with Reflectors, they're a Non-Energy-Type, meaning they're neither consciously or unconsciously able to regulate their (Undefined) Sacral Energy. For reasons we will get into soon, their Not-Self Theme of *Bitterness* will drive them to try extra extra hard to connect with people that they will then take on the Sacral (and other) energies of those around them and work themselves to exhaustion. Projectors, having no connection to Sacral energy, have no way of knowing when they're physically tired, so their health is dependent upon their right relationship with the individuals around them. Their nature is to operate on a one-to-one basis, making a meaningful connection in order to, at root, understand who the Other is. Their Strategy is to *Wait for Invitation*, meaning their drill-like energy that burrows into the field of the Other is not always welcome. The relationship between the Projector and the Other is quite sacred, thus, seen as it can be quite painful or unnerving for the Other to be \"drilled into.\" When a Projector doesn't know how to *Wait for Invitation* they will be directly or indirectly rejected, resulting in their Not-Self Theme of *Bitterness*. If they are unaware of why they're feeling or thinking, unaware of their Not-Self Theme playing out, they will then be prone to forcing themselves into that one-on-one connection. When operating normally, being invited to understand and guide others, they experience their Signature of *Success*.\n\n**Reflectors (1.42%)**: Being such a small minority of the world's population, I personally haven't met any Reflectors and so my knowledge is limited. There are many resources freely available online, and I suggest you fill in the gaps of my knowledge with your own study if you are a Reflector and have one in your life.\n\nReflectors, like Projectors, are a Non-Energy Type. They're different from Projectors in that they have no Defined Energy Centers at all. Thus it is important to understand Undefined Centers in order to understand Reflectors (and Projectors). \n\nWhen Defined, a Center produces its own vital energy corresponding to the Center's role. When Undefined, a Center is open to energy from someone elses' corresponding Defined Center when the two's energy fields are in range. \n<hr />\n<b><i>Example</b></i>: I have an Undefined Head Center, so when alone I experience my thoughts in an orderly and a (usually) manageable manner. Say I have a friend called Ted and he has a Defined Head Center. His thoughts are on constantly and may be overwhelming at times, he is always thinking in a way I can't comprehend. When in a few feet of each him I have a constant stream of thoughts flowing through my head and may pick up on what Ted is thinking (depending on my own abilities), because I am riding his mental wave. Say Ted has an Undefined Solar Plexus (Emotional) Center, while mine is Defined. Ted can't trust his emotions, and especially when he's around me, unless he has a keen awareness that the waves and shifts in feeling he's experiencing are coming primarily from me and possibly manipulating his own.\n<hr />\nWe experience each other in multiple ways, and varying ways depending on our unique configuration. This is a beauty and curse of having Undefined Centers. Now imagine a creature who has no Defined Centers at all - they experience the full being of the Other.\nUnlike Projectors, Reflectors here to experience the Other without analysing. Not to serve them, not to guide them, not to command them. Simply experience them. Unlike any other Type they're simply here to sample the energy of, and communicate with, others. As their name suggests, they are a mirror of consciousness itself, potentially giving an accurate reflection of those around them, with the incidental effect of allowing the others to see themselves and evolve/transform. This is their nature and what they enjoy doing. However, this comes with a danger. They can't trust themselves in-the-moment when it comes to making big decisions. Their Strategy, therefore, is to *Wait One Moon Cycle*. In absence of inner *Authority* we are subject to the Lunar cycle, just as every basic lifeform on the Earth is. When making a major or life-changing decision, the Reflector has to allow themselves enough time to discern the energies from others which influence them from the natural universal energy flow. Reflectors, then, have an opportunity to experience Universal Will more directly than any other Type and must learn to adhere to that. To not follow their Strategy results in the Not-Self Theme of *Disappointment* as a decision made by others is inevitably going to disappoint. When operating normally, sampling the people and environment around them and allowing their decisions to come to them, Reflectors experience their Signature of Surprise. Most cultures live in denial of it: we tame it, relegate it to a distant concept, and even commercialize it since we refuse to deal with it ourselves when it approaches and happens to others. Little do the overwhelming majority of us realise the gift we throw away by not Being Unto Death.**\n\nNot content to settle for partial spiritual truths, half-measures, or endless indulgence in the Ego entertainments of spiritual practices  and psychedelic button-pushing - all of which I love, by the way - I have pushed my way through the psychic debris which the world has convinced me is \"myself\" and have reached what is likely the last checkpoint in the great race towards \"Enlightenment:\" I have come to terms with my own Death. Not in some abstract way which most of us are already familiar (\"We're *all* dying, maaaaaaan\"), but truly on an emotional, logical, and physical level, confronting the fact that I am a finite being. Really sitting with the experience and allowing the shockwaves of realisation to repeatedly hit me like a storm-tossed tide transforming rock into sand. As a child I did okay, climbing through the forests and the fields, being with nature, getting lost, seeing a dead deer once with maggots and flies teaming from its gut... pretty cool stuff. Then they sent me to school, which I didn't like very much. I was a barbarian - I didn't belong in such a formal environment. Not to say I was allergic to learning - I did a lot of that on my own and from the people I loved. They didn't allow me to learn on my own and I didn't love them, so I learned only the minimum to get by. I saw schooling as something to be survived and the evenings, weekends, and holidays as my own to be free. Little did I know, this was prepping me for the rest of my life: work on the weekdays, sometimes on Sundays, and wait for the weekends so I can join my fellow Irish in our collective drinking problem or some other indulgence on the fringes. It's my \"choice\", right? Drink myself silly at the pub, take ecstasy at the club, listen to rock/metal to bleed out my ears, sit at home and wank... as long as I show up for work on Monday. Well, I choose to be a web designer, privately study... and wank. Before that, my teen years could be summed up as a relentless search to find my place, keep it, and get laid. I accomplished two out of the three, but to no definite fulfillment. My early adult life was no different, either. I finally got laid, experimented with a variety of spiritual paths, experimented with a variety of drugs - all under the pretext that there was something wrong with me... and I still got no resolution. Still, like the vast majority of us, I was a slave to a system of someone else's design. Still buying their products, still believing their versions of reality, still paying taxes, and *still* hurtling towards the grave at the expense of my youth - the youth that gave me good looks, seemingly endless curiosity and energy - and I enjoyed virtually none of it.\n\nToday I hoover over the 30-year mark. True to my generation, I suffered prolonged adolescence right up until I actually hit 30 and realised I couldn't use the excuse of being young anymore... not that I used that excuse intentionally... so I doubled down my efforts on the \"figuring this life thing out\" shit. My starting point was \"Okay, I'm a man. How does a man be?\" and I looked to my ancestors. I looked to the Fenian Cycle, which contained moral instructions for a young man who intends to be a warrior.\n\n> If you have a mind to be a good champion, be quiet in a great man's house; be surely in the narrow pass.\n\n> Do not beat your hound without a cause; do not bring a charge against your wife without having knowledge of her guilt; do not hurt a fool in fighting, for he is without his wits.\n\n> Do not find fault with high-up persons; do not stand up to take part in a quarrel; have no dealings with a bad man or a foolish man. Let two-thirds of your gentleness be showed to women and to little children that are creeping on the floor, and to men of learning that make the poems, and do not be rough with the common people.\n\n> Do not give your reverence to all; do not be ready to have one bed with your companions.\n\n> Do not threaten or speak big words, for it is a shameful thing to speak stiffly unless you can carry it out afterwards. Hold fast to your arms till the hard fight is well ended.\n\n> Do not give up your opportunity, but with that follow after gentleness.\n*-- The Tales of Ossian*\n\nIt was clear that even though I *knew* these instructions instinctively, I didn't understand all of them, and I often broke some of them. Over that first year, a slow burning fire consumed my mind more and more - the fire of guilt over every little transgression I had made since childhood. I knew that these things were in the past and couldn't be undone, and so I decided putting them out of my mind was the best tactic... that didn't work. They kept nagging and nagging, harder and harder, to the point I could no long function. Then came the story of the baby swan. A story I will include a link to below, if you're interested.\n\n\n... but it suffices to say, my realisation that I was alone in my commitment to such a doctrine of high standard and was surrounded since birth by a society that had no interest in anything like it except their individual, immediate, and subjective code of honour that was subject to change at any moment. I realised what a pediment I was in and that my mind had been plagued by these misgivings for a very certain reason: without fully realising it, I had elected to become a better person - my own person - and for that I had to drive a figurative stake into the ground. I decided to make a statement to the Old Gods of Ireland that from this point forward I leave my old self behind and become a new man that would forever uphold the standards of the Fianna and the Old Gods, and be Born Again as a man.\n\nFast forward four of five months to only a week ago from today. I am living the life of a good man, I am doing my best, but still lives within me *the unforgettable sorrow*. Washing up against me are those wind-tossed waves of time, beating down my rock. What to do? I look around and see nothing but a constantly moving world - an occasional ambulance and funeral procession as I go about my day, but I pay nothing but a passing heed. I do nothing because this is just something happening to someone else, something I know will happen to me, only way way deep and far behind the battlements of my Ego. The walls that keep me safe. Yet, in my alone times, it hits me. I cannot stop it. The swoosh, swoosh of time, letting me know in brief glimpses that all I know will pass and I shall too.\n\nLet me now point out that, like us all, I had moments of realisation of mortality and the loss of my loved-ones, but I held those fast away from me. It was in the night that I couldn't sleep - when all was dead in the house and out on the street, that I couldn't let go, lest I miss something vital. Best to sleep in the day, when life was happening - maybe I would continue to happen, also, or maybe because I was so exhausted from fear of the night. I was terrified, and the usual escapes weren't working. I couldn't drink myself to sleep, I only thought harder about my predicament; I couldn't \"YouTube myself to sleep\" because nothing satisfied my thirst for meaning anymore. I didn't realise what I was running away from, I figured it was simply a phase of prolonged procrastination. A fellow traveler offered to Skype call to discuss what we both, individually, should be focused on. After two hours of talking about the mad world we live in and how to survive in it, out of nowhere I confessed: \"I'm absolutely frightened by death, my brother. The idea that all whom I love will die and then I will, too, freezes me in terror every day.\" My brother in struggle had no words of comfort for me. I responded that I was not in need of comfort, simply being heard - whether being heard by myself or heard by another, I'm not sure. It was in the following days I met *la Santa Muerte*.\n\nAfter days of fully allowing that crashing sensation of wind-swept waves against my hardened rock, in my less lucid times I set about looking for extra-normal help setting my affairs in order, lest I die at any minute. That same spirit-brother had reminded me of the peculiar ways of the South Americans - peculiar, as in their resistance to religious colonization. For hundreds of years, Blacks and Latinos had developed their own secret religions within Catholicism and Protestantism (a process known as syncretism) - Hoodoo, Voodoo, Santeria, and others. I knew my own Irish syncretism wasn't strong enough to enact powerful magic, so I took to Google: \"Santeria revenge\" and I found a prayer of revenge, posted to a strange Spanish name I'd never heard before - but, maybe, you have. *La Santa Muerte* - \"Saint of Death\".\n\n<center>![SantaMuerte2-m.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmSZP36uA5EMHyNzFCBsc6vUL78xHkiL7bcqKNTn7KJUxb/SantaMuerte2-m.jpg)</center>\n\nAt first this was an interesting cultural phenomenon, a fitting deity for the \"killing fields\" of Mexico - a female skeleton. All of the surface media spoke of (one) Human sacrifice cult, criminals who prayed to her for protection during their misdeeds, and some narcos pistols seized with Her likeness etched into them. Surely just another criminal death cult, right? Not really. Turns out *la Santa Muerte* is worshiped by eight to ten millions people in North and South America alone. Ordinary people, looking for protection against violent crime, illness, and for prosperity and love. Something about this skeletal babe made sense deep down inside. Something primordial. It also helped pique my interest that in 2009 the Mexican military was ordered to demolish 40 shrines to *la Muerte* all along the Mexican-American border and that the Catholic Church renounced the observance of this \"saint\" to be Satanic. This only tickled my curiosity more. Why is observance of this saint the fastest growing religious movement in the world today? It couldn't simply be the proximity Mexicans, in Mexico, feel to death and need protection from, since this phenomenon is growing just as fast in the United States of America - even amoung Whites and Blacks - as it is in its home country. Could it be because this figure represents something primordial in man himself?\n\nFor me, this is the case. And at least according to researchers Andrew Chesnut (author of [Devoted to Death: Santa Muerte, the Skeleton Saint](https://www.amazon.com/Devoted-Death-Santa-Muerte-Skeleton/dp/0199764654)) and David Metcalfe (both authors at [skeletonsaint.com](http://skeletonsaint.com/)), most believers take Her to be the embodiment of Death itself, and not merely a saint of it. A power that has sovereignty over who dies when and of what, and ability to change those circumstances upon prayer. A power often looked to by the Mexican people to protect them against gang and random violence. A devotee told a story of being on a bus, two stops away from the police station when two men boarded and asked kindly for $5 lest they resort to violence. Seeing the man's *la Santa Muerte* pendent around his neck, one of his assailants called off the robbery out of respect for a fellow worshiper. Not only do devotees fear *Santa Muerte*, but they fear Her retribution if they dare to fuck with Her devotees. \n\nThis all rang very true to me. Death is the great equalizer. If it was an agent unto its own, it would be charged with the sole duty of deciding who survived however long, in what condition they survived, and who they coupled with - all within the authority of Death itself. I reflected on a theory I had over the past months, that my Irish ancestors really actually worshiped The Morrigan - the tripartite Goddess in Irish mythology - of which Danu of Tuatha de Dannan (the tribes of Danu) is a member. This tripartite Goddess was known to mediate Death, War, Sovereignty, and Cattle. My theory being, that all of our highest ancestors worshiped Death itself. I became excited by the idea that this was making its way back through Mexican syncretism and that some mysterious force had led me to it at the exact time I needed the inspiration. I decided to become a devotee in order to bootstrap the power of the forgotten Irish Morrigan with the resurgent Mexican Muerte. I decided I would perform a white candle prayer to Her, offer Her a cigarette, and offer her a bottle of unfiltered beer (all of which She enjoys, according to folk). First, I needed to cycle to the store to get the accessories. Upon my way, weaving in and out of traffic and onto the pavement I was slowed behind a party of three heading to the restaurant nearby. One of those women was wearing a black hoody with a skull on the back... not a fashionable or common piece of clothing in this place at all... at that point I laughed out loud - literally - all the way to the store and continued my day with complete confidence that Death Herself was watching me and aware of Her existence.",
