Czech cuisine is influenced by its surrounding countries such as Austria and Hungary, especially with the presence of sauerkraut in some of its dishes, or traditional Czech dishes such as Schnitzel, which originated in Austria. Czech food is very meat and gravy-heavy.\n\nIf you're in Prague and you want a taste of traditional Czech cuisine, head to Havelska Koruna, a self-service cafeteria in the Old Town. Its daily menu consists of 25 dishes to choose from. It's cheap, tasty and fuss-free. Don't expect polite servers or restaurant-style treatment. I wanted to try one of each flavour and didn't expect them to turn out so big and dense. The dough that encases the fruit filling is a lot like a Chinese bun in texture. Again, a Czech dish with Austrian influences, especially with the spinach and potato dumplings. It was delicious. It’s also always been known to be a city of romance, where it’d only be right to go with a loved one.\n\nWell, they were wrong. I went to Paris alone and had an amazing time. People there aren't the friendliest but you won't be treated abusively. I spent less than €75 in my 3.5 days there. Paris doesn’t have to be expensive.\n\nHere’s what to do:\n\n- Stay somewhere near the Bastille. It’s within walking distance to the Notre Dame, Père Lachaise, Rivoli, Le Marais, and a short metro ride away from the usual attractions like the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Montmartre.\n\n- Limit your metro rides to at most 3 a day and walk everywhere. Figure out on Google maps how long it takes to walk from one place to another and plan out your daily itinerary. You can definitely walk if it’s less than 40 mins from point A to B.\n\n- Say 'bonjour' every time you step into a boulangerie, a boutique, or perusing items at the local market, and merci every time you step out. There are affordable options. If you want a typical french dining experience, go to Chartier. It’s a 2 minute walk from metro Grands Boulevards in the area of Montmartre. Mains cost less than €12. Of course I had to put it on my list of cities to visit. It was indeed beautiful... but only in Old Town, Lesser Town and the Castle which are in the city centre. It was also jam packed with tourists, especially in the day. \n\nStray further from the centre and you'll start seeing less of those colourful houses and more dreary, grey ones. It gets rather depressing especially on a cloudy day.\n\nIs it worth a visit? Definitely for a few days before making your way to another city in the summer and probably around Christmas time, but not as a standalone destination to and from your home country, unless you live a couple of hours away.",
