This article will help you learn how you can lower your car's coilovers at home for free.\n<h2>How to Lower Your Car's Coilovers at Home (Step by Step Tutorial)</h2>\nOkay so i assume you came here looking for a tutorial on how to lower your cars height by adjusting the coilovers. Let's start, first off lets note down the things you will need:\n-A well lit area.\n-Spanner Wrench (Ring sizes vary on different coilover brands).\n-A measuring tape.\n-And your car that's equipped with coilovers ofcourse!\n\nBefore you start it should be noted that for lower priced coilover brands such as JIC SF1 or Buddy Club etc. the springs should be raised to their maximum height. This is important to ensure that the coilovers are lowered equally. Usually what happens is that the coilovers get compressed and preloaded incorrectly if not raised to maximum height in the start. Coilover Rings are made of Aluminum so you don't have to worry too much about them getting scratched with your spanner wrenches.However it is advised that you exercise caution as incorrect adjustment may damage your rings. \n\nThe first thing you will have to do is measure the height of your springs. When i measured my springs they came out to be 7 & 7/8th\" in height.\nIf  your springs have been tinkered with previously then you will need to expand them. Its usually quite easy to spot. To correctly expand the spring, first loosen the top ring to lower it until it is loose. Then tighten it slightly. I  observed that keeping the springs to around a 7.75\" height keeps them taut but does not preload them.\nPlease note that your coilover will be adjusted by raising/lowering the threaded pipe and not the springs. Proceed to unlock the steel perch (bottom part of damper that threaded pipe goes in to) by loosening the 3rd/bottom ring and raise it up. The adjustment will be made by turning the two locked rings under the spring.
