| title | Ethereum Price Peaks Above $1,300 as Market cap Inches Closer to Bitcoin’s |
| body | It is safe to say the cryptocurrency ecosystem is anything but stable right now. With Bitcoin still struggling for momentum, altcoins will struggle quite a bit as well. The one thing that sheds an interesting light on this entire debacle is Ethereum. More specifically, the Ethereum price keeps moving up every single day. Moreover, Ethereum now has over half the market cap of Bitcoin, which is a rather impressive feat. Very few people had expected to see Ethereum come close to Bitcoin in market cap. Although similar discussions first became apparent about a year ago, the situation has changed quite a bit ever since. In fact, it seemed as if the so-called “flippening” would never materialize after all. Especially with Bitcoin’s market cap growing to over $200bn and Ethereum remaining below $100bn. Things always have an interesting way of working out in the cryptocurrency world, though. More specifically, the Ethereum market cap is now $126.67bn. That is over half of Bitcoin’s, although there is still a very long way to go. If the Ethereum price momentum keeps up, we may achieve some degree of parity in the future. Bitcoin’s current issues don’t warrant it being the world’s leading cryptocurrency for much longer. Ethereum also has its fair share of issues and controversy, though. None of those problems have impacted the Ethereum price in a negative way, by the look of things. At the time of writing, we have an Ethereum price of just over $1,300. This is a very healthy increase compared to the $880 of just one week ago. Although there has been some market resistance, the Ethereum price has been on a solid course to set new all-time highs nearly all week. Ever since surpassing $1,000, anything is possible. A remarkable turn of events, but a more than welcome one at the same time. With nearly $9.5bn in 24-hour trading volume, no one can deny Ethereum is the hot commodity of this moment. Few people are looking at Bitcoin or Ripple right now, but that type of behavior is nothing new in the cryptocurrency world. The bigger question is whether or not Ethereum has what it takes to dethrone Bitcoin as the world’s leading cryptocurrency. Right now, that is far from the case, but things can evolve rather quickly in the world of cryptocurrency. Unsurprisingly, most of Ethereum’s trading volume originates from the Bithumb exchange. Although Korean Won-denominated prices are no longer part of the global average, the trading volume is still a valuable metric. Binance is in second place, with GDAX completing the top three. We see three USD trading pairs in the five for Ethereum, indicating a lot of fresh capital is entering the market as we speak. If this trend keeps up, it is only a matter of time until we see an Ethereum price of $1,500 or slightly more. With the Ethereum price moving up nicely and the currency’s market cap growing steadily, things are looking pretty good for ETH. Although cryptocurrency remains a volatile and unpredictable industry, it is evident this currency will not suddenly disappear whatsoever. If this trend keeps up, Ethereum might effectively rival Bitcoin in terms of market cap one day. Whether or not that would also make it a better currency or store of value, remains unclear at this time. |

| title | ICO ERA IS OVER, MEET THE NEW HYPE ON BLOCKCHAIN |
| body | Game studio Chatrobotic announces Fishbank, the upcoming PvP mmo based upon the Ethereum blockchain. After a number of stunning ICOs managed to collect millions of dollars gone to develop their products for years to come, it became quite obvious that the only practical implementation of blockchain technology at the moment is… a digital kitten collectibles game. If breeding and adoring cuties have resulted in congestion of the whole Ethereum network, it is hard even to predict what impact a full-featured blockchain game can make. The new kid on the block is the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game on smart contracts called “Fishbank.” It represents quite aggressive PvP (player-versus-player) gameplay with open-sourced fighting mechanics and global leaderboards called the “food chain.” Every player owns a fish that is, in fact, a digital ERC-721 token stored on the Ethereum blockchain. It acts like any other cryptocurrency and can be transferred, gifted, or sold to other players. The core parameter of the fish token is the weight which defines its size and influence. Fish are able to gain weight by hunting others and taking bites off of losers. The main objective for a player is to increase the size of his fish in order to become the biggest fish in the “deep decentralized blue ocean.” As mentioned in the Fishbank Whitepaper, the more weight the fish has, the more value its token represents and the more Ether the owner may ask for it on the market. All fish tokens are divided into Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Three are three ways to obtain an original fish token: catch a random one in the Aquarium for a small fee, buy from other players on the Market, or be rewarded for helping the project spread the word. All settlements between players are made in Ether, and no special currency is involved. In order to play the game, the user must have a Chrome or Firefox browser installed with the MetaMask extension. Every game action that runs smart contracts requires gas to complete a transaction in the Ethereum network. (https://steemitimages.com/DQmPJ7GnvuLYPnbCHp1rBQ7uHqvM7AV3LDknLoDpbUMuFtn/fishbank-02-768x317.jpg) The team behind Fishbank is a studio called “Chatrobotic,” who is famous for its chat bot game titles running on various messenger platforms (Telegram, Kik, and Facebook Messenger) with more than 500,000 players on board and 2.5 million messages sent daily. The game is still in development, but there is already a lot of hype around it — developers promise to launch the Alpha closer to the end of January 2018 with an ability to preorder your fish token prior to the event. No ICO will be conducted. One can agree that the emerging of dApps is an extremely important iteration for distributed ledger technology development, even being it in a form of a funny game. If that teaches players who are using digital crypto wallets, that is good for all. | body | What’s the weirdest fact you know of? We bet it’s not as strange as any of these! You might think these facts sound totally false, but trust us, they’re totally true! So, if you’ve got 10 minutes to spare, why not check out these 100 strange but true facts that will shock you! *Donkey Kong got his name because his creator believed ‘donkey’ meant ‘stupid’ in English and wanted to convey the impression that the character was a “Stupid Ape”. *The medical name for a butt crack is “intergluteal cleft”. *People can suffer from a psychological disorder called Boanthropy that makes them believe that they are a cow. They try to live their life as a cow. *The name for the shape of Pringles is called a ‘Hyperbolic Paraboloid’. *There is a McDonald’s in every continent except Antartica. *Mr Potato Head was the first toy to be advertised on TV. *A duel between three people is actually called a truel. *The stage before frostbite is called “frostnip”. *The two tiny holes drilled in every BIC pen is to ensure that the air pressure is the same both inside and outside the pen, which helps the ink flow to the tip. *In South Korea there is an emergency number (113) to report spies. *There are no bridges over the Amazon River. *The process by which bread toasts is called the ‘Maillard Reaction’. *Snails have 14,000 teeth and some can even kill you![adsense-article] *Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi was not a man in a suit, it was actually a giant puppet. *Sonic the Hedgehog’s full name is actually Ogilvie Maurice Hedgehog. *Even though Froot Loops are different colors, they all have exactly the same flavor. *George Clooney did the voice for ‘Sparky’ – a gay dog in South Park. *Most toilet paper sold for home use in France is pink. *Marmite was one of most confiscated items at airports from the UK – to overcome this issue, Marmite made smaller *ones for travelling. *The human nose can remember 50,000 different scents. *Cards against Humanity bought an island in Maine to preserve wildlife. It is called Hawaii 2. *Daddy longlegs have penises, which technically makes them not a spider. *The television was invented only two years after the invention of sliced bread. *Bullfrogs do not sleep. *The dark region on the north pole of Pluto’s moon, Charon, is called Mordor. *The reason the taste of artifcial banana savouring and artifcial banana favoured products doesn’t taste like bananas is because it is based on a type of banana that was wiped out by a plague in the 1950’s |

| title | Things You Thought You Knew But Really Didn't |
| body | I hereby present my list of Things That You Thought You Knew But Really Didn’t. I exist solely to bring information to the masses. Get your brain prepared: I’m about to lay some cold, hard knowledge into that gray matter. 1. French fries are from France: A big, fat lie sandwich. French fries originated in Belgium. They're only called "French" fries because of the way that they are cut—as evidenced by the fact that steak fries aren't called steak French fries, and waffle fries aren't called waffle French fries. In conclusion, French fries aren't French. Besides, how could the French, inventors of snobbery and escargot*, have invented something as delicious as the French fry? Never thought of it that way, have you? 2. Napoleon was short: False and false again. Napoleon is been said to have clocked in at 5'2". What people fail to mention is that this measurement is in French Feet. Which, like the French, are different from the rest of the world, and possibly very stupid*. Just kidding. Anyway, when converted to American feet, Napoleon stood about 5'6", or 1.69 m. He was short by today's standards (about Daniel Radcliffe's height. I'm not a stalker at all), but Napoleon was just a regular Joe back in the day. So having a whole complex named after him for being short is just complete bullcrap. Remember that the next time you see Daniel Radcliffe. 3. Peanuts are nuts. Are you nuts? (I'm so punny): Peanuts, while being delicious and nutritious, are a legume. Nuts, right? (This is just way too fun. So many puns! Oh, look, I rhymed!) Other famous legumes include: beans, peas, soy, carob, etc. (Not going to lie, I have no idea what carob is.) So think about that. Peanuts are not a nut. Our world is insane. 4. That red stuff in your raw meat is blood: Not going to lie, I always thought that it was blood too. That is why I seriously considered going vegetarian, because the stuff grossed me out. Now, I can't go vegetarian for health reasons, but I can rest easier because that icky stuff is mainly water. Crazy, right? The substance that makes the water look red is a protein called myoglobin. Most (if not all) of the blood is removed from the meat after the slaughter, if you pardon my phrasing. I can continue eating my dino nuggets with a free and clear conscience. 5. The color red makes bulls mad: Bologna. Seriously. Bulls are dichromatic, or, in layman's terms, colorblind. Red doesn't enrage bulls; they can hardly differentiate it from any other color. It's the motion of the cape and the matador's stupid costume that cause bulls to charge. (I joke. It isn't the cape at all. I'm not sure what it is, but I know it isn't the color red.) 6. Your hair and fingernails continue growing after you die: What really happens is that your skin dries up (because you aren't drinking water because you're, um, dead) and shrinks back, giving fingers and hair the appearance of growth. But no actual growth occurs. Don't be dumb. 7. You have five senses: Taste, Touch, Sight, Smell, and Sound. While this is what every little kid is taught, thanks to Aristotle (<---true fact), this isn't quite true. This is a half-truth. As a human, you have way more senses than a measly five. Give yourself some credit! Some of the cooler ones are... -Proprioception: Knowing where your body is. Itch your foot. Did you have to look to find your foot? No, right? You just knew where it was without thinking. That is proprioception. -Thermoception: The temperature relative to you. This is especially handy when maintaining homeostasis. Heehee, science. -Nociception: In short, pain. Knowing where and how much something hurts in your body. -Equilibrioception: Balance and gravity as relative to you. This handy-dandy sense keeps you on your feet. 8. You only use ten percent of your brain: FalsefalsefalsefalseFALSE. If you were only using ten percent of your brain at any given time, you would be a human vegetable. While it's true that neurons typically fire in smaller groups, you use them all. If you didn't, I would be very scared. In short, YOU USE YOUR BRAIN. A LOT. Which is good, no? Thus concludes my List of Things You Thought You Knew But Really Didn’t. I hope I enlightened a few of you. And if I didn’t, well, go eat some French fries. At least you know they aren’t French anymore! We feel so much smarter now! Can you think of any other popular myths or misconceptions that need correcting? |

| title | NASAA Warns Investors About Crypto And ICOs, SEC Approves |
| body | On Jan. 4, the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) released a warning for Main Street investors regarding the risks associated with cryptocurrencies and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). The warning was promptly followed by a statement from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that commended and reiterated the NASAA’s message. The NASAA statement encouraged investors to look “beyond the hype” when considering cryptocurrencies and their derivatives, in order to better understand the associated risks. Joseph P. Borg, NASAA President and Director of the Alabama Securities Commission, was quoted in the statement saying: “Investors should go beyond the headlines and hype to understand the risks associated with investments in cryptocurrencies, as well as cryptocurrency futures contracts and other financial products where these virtual currencies are linked in some way to the underlying investment.” Borg also noted in the statement that the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market attracts new investors who are generally not well-informed about the nature of the investments they are making, stating: “The recent wild price fluctuations and speculation in cryptocurrency-related investments can easily tempt unsuspecting investors to rush into an investment they may not fully understand.” Common concerns and risks: The NASAA statement includes a list of common concerns associated with cryptocurrencies and warnings of high potential for fraud when investing in them. The NASAA and the SEC made a point of describing how cryptocurrencies are different from “traditional”, or fiat, currencies. Both agencies noted that it is these very differences that make cryptocurrencies high risk. The NASAA statement reads: “Unlike traditional currency, these alternatives have no physical form and typically are not backed by tangible assets. They are not insured or controlled by a central bank or other governmental authority, cannot always be exchanged for other commodities, and are subject to little or no regulation.” Finally, the statement concludes with a list of five potential signs of fraud when investing in the crypto space. These fraud red flags include “guaranteed” high returns, unlicensed sellers, and high pressure to buy rapidly, all of which were arguably present in most ICOs in 2017. UNITED FRONT? The SEC affirmation of the NASAA statement -- along with the several other SEC statements on crypto and ICOs - is indicative of an increasing, concentrated focus on regulating the crypto space, particularly in the US. As the cryptocurrency market continues to grow and public attention increases, the potential risks for new, uninformed investors will likely continue to spur on regulation and warnings from governmental authorities around the world. |

"title": "NASAA Warns Investors About Crypto And ICOs, SEC Approves",
"body": "\nOn Jan. 4, the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) released a warning for Main Street investors regarding the risks associated with cryptocurrencies and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs).\n\nThe warning was promptly followed by a statement from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that commended and reiterated the NASAA’s message.\n\nThe NASAA statement encouraged investors to look “beyond the hype” when considering cryptocurrencies and their derivatives, in order to better understand the associated risks.\n\nJoseph P. Borg, NASAA President and Director of the Alabama Securities Commission, was quoted in the statement saying:\n\n“Investors should go beyond the headlines and hype to understand the risks associated with investments in cryptocurrencies, as well as cryptocurrency futures contracts and other financial products where these virtual currencies are linked in some way to the underlying investment.”\n\nBorg also noted in the statement that the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market attracts new investors who are generally not well-informed about the nature of the investments they are making, stating:\n\n“The recent wild price fluctuations and speculation in cryptocurrency-related investments can easily tempt unsuspecting investors to rush into an investment they may not fully understand.”\n\nCommon concerns and risks:\nThe NASAA statement includes a list of common concerns associated with cryptocurrencies and warnings of high potential for fraud when investing in them.\n\nThe NASAA and the SEC made a point of describing how cryptocurrencies are different from “traditional”, or fiat, currencies. Both agencies noted that it is these very differences that make cryptocurrencies high risk. The NASAA statement reads:\n\n“Unlike traditional currency, these alternatives have no physical form and typically are not backed by tangible assets. They are not insured or controlled by a central bank or other governmental authority, cannot always be exchanged for other commodities, and are subject to little or no regulation.”\n\nFinally, the statement concludes with a list of five potential signs of fraud when investing in the crypto space. These fraud red flags include “guaranteed” high returns, unlicensed sellers, and high pressure to buy rapidly, all of which were arguably present in most ICOs in 2017.\n\nUNITED FRONT?\n\nThe SEC affirmation of the NASAA statement -- along with the several other SEC statements on crypto and ICOs - is indicative of an increasing, concentrated focus on regulating the crypto space, particularly in the US.\n\nAs the cryptocurrency market continues to grow and public attention increases, the potential risks for new, uninformed investors will likely continue to spur on regulation and warnings from governmental authorities around the world.",

| title | What Is in Store for Cryptocurrency In 2018? |
| body | There were many predictions by so-called experts in 2017 and no one was able to predict it correctly. Most thought Bitcoin was a bubble that was about to pop and others predicted moderate increases up to $4,000. No one expected it to get to around the $20,000 and even though it has dropped, it has still settled around the $15,000 mark. What the mainstream media seem to be forgetting are the huge returns it has made over the year than the occasional profits taking. Anyone with a Bitcoin Wallet with a sizeable amount held in it over the whole year made a fortune and the same will happen the year ahead. In 2018 we are going to see a “regulation war” as Governments will try to control the decentralized product. It is going to be a very difficult task to control a Bitcoin Wallet and one which is doomed to fail. Rather than fighting the crypto revolution, they should be embracing it. It will only take one country to adopt their own state cryptocurrency and the rest will have to follow. There have been many rumors that China and Russia are going to release their own cryptocurrency. If this happened, the 2017 boom in cryptocurrencies will look like a drop in the ocean. By the end of 2018 Bitcoin may not be the number one cryptocurrency. The Achilles heel of BTC is the high financial transaction costs and unless this is resolved it gives others a competitive edge over it. That is why we are seeing the rapid rise of Bitcoin Cash as it is far cheaper and should be a solid investment for the year. Ripple has the possibility to become the world’s leading cryptocurrency in 2018 and has pushed Ethereum into third place. With the banks and hedge funds now dipping their toes into the crypto market, these two digital currencies are their preferred choice. That could send the prices skyrocketing and transform the sector. In 2018 expect ICOs to be in the news a lot as these have transformed the venture capital sector. This area of cryptocurrencies is going to be under a lot of scrutiny this year and it faces an epic battle with regulators. Expect many ICOs to fail but the ones that make it will make the initial investors extremely rich if they are brave enough to hold onto it for the next few years. It is not just the financial system that is going to be revolutionized in 2018 as the technology behind cryptocurrencies (the Blockchain) is going to have a major impact on countless industries. The main sectors affected will be consumer goods and retail, democracy, and government. higher education, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications and media, transportation, resources, and healthcare. Conclusion 2018 is going to be a roller coaster of a ride and as the worldwide economy gets worse, cryptocurrencies will benefit. The regulation battle is going to get dirty but due to the decentralized nature, it should be able to survive the war. We are going to see inflation get out of control in many parts of the world due to the collapse in fiat money. This will escalate the economic crisis and the solution to it is cryptocurrency. It only takes one government around the world to realize this and the revolution will make the boom of 2017 look like a tiny blip on the chart. |

| title | Bitcoin Cash Price Reclaims $3,000 Average Thanks to Bithumb |
| body | With the overall cryptocurrency market cap growing by leaps and bounds, it is only normal specific currencies are noting solid gains. Although things have been relatively quiet on the Bitcoin Cash price for some time now, things are heading in the right direction again. More specifically, the Bitcoin Cash price has surpassed $3,000 again for the first time in nearly two weeks. A positive trend, although there’s still plenty of volatility to contend with. BITCOIN CASH PRICE SURPASSES $3,000 AGAIN Although the opinions on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash will always remain somewhat divided, it is good to have both currencies as part of the overall ecosystem. It just goes to show how the technical aspects of the world’s leading cryptocurrency can be handled in a different manner. Although the Bitcoin Cash price is nowhere close to that of Bitcoin, things are not looking all that bad either. Especially now that one BCH is worth over $3,000 again, it will be interesting to see how things play out for this specific altcoin. To put this into perspective, the Bitcoin Cash price has struggled to reach $3,000 again since late December 2017. That is not surprising, as a lot of currencies took a pretty big hit during the final days of last year. With the new year upon us, a lot of new opportunities have presented themselves as we speak. For the Bitcoin Cash price, reaching $3,000 once again at this time of the year may very well be a sign of what 2018 has in store for BCH. Especially when considering how the Bitcoin Cash price was still below $2,400 not that long ago, things look rather promising. There have been a few attempts to reach $3,000 in the past week, but none of them got even close to achieving that goal. This latest trend represents a $370 jump in the past 24 hours. Once people stop taking profits, we will be able to determine whether or not this trend can be sustained for more than a few hours. With almost $2.1bn in 24-hour trading volume, the demand for Bitcoin Cash seems genuine enough. Although this volume is a lot lower compared to Bitcoin itself, there are a lot of people who remain confident BCH is here to stay for the long-term. Although overtaking Bitcoin may be several bridges too far right now, one never knows what the future holds. The current Bitcoin Cash price momentum certainly seems to indicate things can only get better from here on out. As one would expect, the majority of BCH trading volume comes from South Korea’s Bithumb exchange. They are trading BCH at a premium of $1,300 right now, which means this currency is worth close to $4,000 in that part of the world. Western exchanges are still stuck below $2,7700 for now, though. HitBTC and OKEx complete the top three for BCH exchanges by trading volume as we speak. Just two fiat currency pairs in the top 5 is not optimal, but it’s nothing to be overly concerned about either. How all of this will play out for the Bitcoin Cash price, remains to be determined. Right now, the momentum is certainly in favor of this altcoin, but the markets remain highly volatile and unpredictable. There is still a lot of market momentum in the world of cryptocurrency, although no one knows what the future holds whatsoever. It is not unlikely Bitcoin Cash will hit $3,000 in the Western world at some point next week, but nothing has been set in stone just yet. |
