| body | Interesting post I must say. I have been contemplating about this same thing for over a year and decided to do something that I think will solve much of this problem for young entrepreneurs that lack knowledge and or money. I've been studying crowdfunding for a little over a year now and decided to start what I call a universal tribe that essentially would be a group of entrepreneurs helping each other out with crowdfunding efforts creating teams etc. The real bonus once this universal tribe is established is the instant use of it for doing a crowdfund campaign. Basically I've been involved in online marketing over the last 5 years building websites and such so I put together a website , youtube channel, and an email harvesting system to create the universal tribe. It's fairly new (like 3 days old) and may take some time to build it, but once it picks up momentum I believe it will become a very important network for all crowdfunders. Check out The Tycoon Network on youtube .... Tom Collins thumbs up to you ilirki |

| body | Nothing annoys me more than perfectly capable people building useless crap that nobody needs, justifying it as a learning experiment - when there are desperate and dire needs out in the world, and the people running "the official solutions" are even less qualified than you and me, all in existing markets with problems that can easily be solved, had they only been more visible. But people don't easily share this market insight, because they think they will keep it for themselves and make money off it. On the other side, people get lots of ideas that they too think they can make money off, but that are stupid ideas and they only find out after they put too much effort into it - if they just told more people about it sooner, they would've been able to fine tune their ideas much sooner. So I don't buy this nonsense about "creating a market". It's all about recognizing the latent market that is there already - nothing in the world is new. What is important is taking the time to look and dig real deep into the problem you think you see, before you even attempt to formulate a solution. Try to disprove your most basic assumption as early and cheaply as possible. About Facebook - It's not a good example because it had a lot of things going for it, rich kid, rich school, rich family, good connections - the only relevant thing, perhaps, is that there were many projects like Facebook at the time, so besides connections and money, what set Facebook apart? They shared their API and allowed developers to use their data - something none of the other platforms did back then. In effect, they crowd sourced new ideas from developers the world over, all they did was to create a "standard" around which it was profitable for developers to do so. That's the revolutionary "new" thing they proved worked to gain support, but it's something that people who understand software freedom has known for years. Google did almost the same to become popular. But both of them seem to have forgotten their roots and now have shareholders who likely don't understand any of this milking and strangling them... although Mark Zuckerberg has a trump card in his controlling stake in Facebook... I wonder what he will do with it. Finding the right environment - completely agree, if you have a real solution and it works and you find the right environment where it can take root, it will start growing... but you need to be the passionate flame burning, heating up that insanely big iron with just your little flame through consistent application.... and "Knowing when to back off" - yes, you should never become a bottleneck to the growth. Find someone who has done it before, who is keen and able, and let them. Usually people who start things are bad at running them, and vice versa... ultimately you need a good, balanced team. |

| body | I would add the following: - If you are going up against a cartel, choose one that isn't heavily armed. - Check that your brother-in-law isn't ideologically opposed to everything you do, and will stop at nothing to expose your wrongdoing. - If a pizza is thrown onto your roof, remove it immediately, as metaphors can quickly spiral out of control. - If your business partners get in your way, just kill them. |

| title | What can we entrepreneurs learn from Breaking Bad? |
| body | The high school teacher turned millionaire drug kingpin story of Breaking Bad's Walter White has something in common with today's economic ecosystem and the burst of entrepreneurship. https://images7.alphacoders.com/617/617964.jpg This guy portraits the challenge of status quo, the transformation of corporate pawn to a self made entrepreneur wishing to make it on their own, follow their dream and grow to become another R. Branson or simply survive these tough economic conditions. What Walter learns to us is that we must make that life changing decision even though in Walters case, cancer was the motivator but in your case it must be your internal locus of control, the intrinsic motivation that makes you love doing something so as to push the boundaries, to __Break the Status Quo__. The next step into entrepreneurship and the biggest problem to a startup is who you choose to be your partner, since you cant do everything yourself. Look it like you're choosing your wife or husband which will be your partner for the rest of the life, do you want to spend the rest of the life with a partner that does not have the same mindset or goals like you, and who you don't respect. Learn from Walter's mistakes with Tuco and Gus, while he made a lot of money from them, sooner or later their relationships ended and so could your partnership end. __Be picky at who you choose as your partner__, hence he or she may bring your baby (company) down. Another valuable information that i extracted from this superb tv show and what i'm struggling personally these days is the strive to create the best product or service. What i'm talking about is what Larry Page (Google) lives by, the __Moon Shots__, his philosophy is when you make something do not improve it by 10 percent,by doing that you are becoming basically the same like everybody else. Do not settle for less than the best, build something that its going to be 10x better than your competition. Thats why Walter did not rest until he made the best product, neither did the late Jobs which was known to push its company for creating better than "good enough" products, and in the end the results tell it all. Google now is the center for information while Apple products became"must have" items. Other insights that come from Breaking Bad are to __get your hands dirty__ especially in the beginning, do not be afraid to take risks and do it yourself since that may be your last shot, or even worse that mistake may bring you down so why not do it right the first time yourself. In addition, Walter's reputation of a ruthless drug lord and excellent chemist is what makes him grow, everybody wants to work with him or get out of his way, which is what you want for your company, a sturdy reputation in the eyes of your partners and customers which makes them work with you or trust their money in your product/service. Such advices i hear all the time from experienced industry leaders, fortune 500, CEO's, mentors and i want to add to that: "Get up in the real world, break that status quo, choose your partner right, aim for the moon and don't hesitate to get your hands dirty and in the long run build a sturdy reputation for your company and you will be repaid." With this post, i start my blog on entrepreneurship, startups and innovation insights in Steemit. Contribute to what i might have not mentioned or forgot that relates to Breaking Bad's entrepreneurship lessons. |

If you get outperformed by someone dong the same thing, it's because they did it better than you. You would have failed anyway, even if they hadn't "copied" you. I say that in quotes because whenever someone complains they were copied, there are usually significant differences between the strategies and products that can fully account for why they failed. |

| title | Young Entrepreneurs with a great idea and the road to success |
| body | How many times have you had a breakthrough idea, seen a lucrative opportunity and the one thing that kept you from making this idea real was lack of knowledge about the technology on how to do it, im talking about tech startups. This happened too many times to me and thus i want to share some insights and help on how to deal with such a case. First of all go on a hunt for a __great team__, you can't do it yourself so connecting and networking with computer science students is a great opportunity for you to get into the world of how tech startups work. Get someone capable coding and understanding how things go, seek for advice and if you think similarly and have the same goal then thats a door of opportunity. However there are some "programmer wannabe" that you need to watch out for them because they will just slow you down, copy or even destroy your idea. In my years in college i met bright and lazy students, started many projects which most of them failed but i learned about the ecosystem of Internet startups, the technologies which they use and what are their capabilities. After you have gathered significant information and done a feasibility study, its time to do your other part of the due diligence, __market research__. Check out what consumers want, most of the successful tech startups are customer centric, focused on the needs of their users and if their idea can add value for them. Start with your friends and relatives, move to your neighborhood, do not be shy to ask and get feedback from your potential customers. Even though timing is crucial, take your time and put the pieces together, figure out if dots can be connected and once you have done enough validation go for it. The next step is to get a __product prototype__, in this case a website or application, alpha, beta test and gather that data of knowledge, analyze it since knowledge is going to be your gold mine. You don't need to get it right the first time, build on it, trial and error, test your ideas on the early adopters (testers of your product/ service), gather feedback and see what is desired and what is non-value adding. This step is crucial since it opens the door for the next big step, so find a competitive advantage which you can differ from the others, make sure this advantage is sustainable at least in the short run for you to gather enough resources to survive and growth in the future. __Going public__ isn't easy, you need a lot of resources and experience which in this case as a young entrepreneur you don't have either of them. So start small, just enough to be seen by the big fish, just enough for your customers to start to realize the value your product/service is bringing and if you do things right your product will sell itself. You may even be noticed by a VC which sees potential in your startup and desires to invest, that will create an even bigger advantage for you, however be careful for what you settle for. Social media is already massively used by startups to promote their product/service so you need to __play your cards right__ and do something out of the box, extraordinary for it to catch the eye of the busy consumer. Even with a limited marketing budget if you allocate resources right and have a objective what you want to achieve, you can reach out massive audiences. Carefully plan your business model and even more importantly constantly update it to the environment changes and obstacles you may find. Don't think about making money in the initial phase of your product/ service, build a road for the future and the money will come to you. Everyone may have ideas, what is important is how you deal with them, how you implement these ideas. __*"Sloppy ideas with a great implementation outperform great ideas with sloppy implementation"*__. |

For my trip to Dhermi 2 weeks ago i stumbled upon a weather phenomena, before arriving to Dhermi, there is a national park named Llogara on the way, it is way up on the hills so its colder and that early morning that i passed by it was snowing. Imagine that, on my way for summer vacation i stumbled upon snow, how is that possible. I'm not a meteorologist so i don't know much about weather events but it was amazing. Anyway this is not the main objective, the coast, is the main objective, the beaches are phenomenal. First off, if you’re headed south, you are more than likely going to begin your journey in the capital city of Tirana. For reasons that have never been clearly articulated, Albania does not believe in central bus stations like the rest of Europe. There are proper buses, but they leave from random street corners in different parts of the city. If you want to ascertain the departure point of a certain bus, you need to scour the Internet, ask around and most likely buy your ticket from the newspaper kiosk closest to the departure point. Dhermi has a reputation as a party beach for the Albanian elite. The white rocky beach spills up to the edge of a sea that is almost unimaginably clear and blue. This is as close to unspoiled as you are likely to find in Europe. The *town* if one can call it that is a two block long stretch of bodegas, restaurants and very modest hotels. During the day, visitors laze in the beach chairs along the stones, enjoy fresh fish in the beachfront restaurants or head out on the water in jet skis. At night, Dhermi and neighboring Drymades beach come to life. There are cocktail bars along the beach that give way to enormous open-air clubs as the evening goes on. Dhermi has been called the *Ibiza of Albania* and the clubs here draw in big name DJs like Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk. The wildest parties can be found at Havana Club. https://scontent-vie1-1.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/13774902_1662258280764175_2065095597_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTMwNzMyMDg3NDk1MjU2NDY5Ng%3D%3D.2 Here are some more amazing photos <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-version="7" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><div style="padding:8px;"> <div style=" background:#F8F8F8; line-height:0; margin-top:40px; padding:28.125% 0; text-align:center; width:100%;"> <div style=" background:url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAACwAAAAsCAMAAAApWqozAAAABGdBTUEAALGPC/xhBQAAAAFzUkdCAK7OHOkAAAAMUExURczMzPf399fX1+bm5mzY9AMAAADiSURBVDjLvZXbEsMgCES5/P8/t9FuRVCRmU73JWlzosgSIIZURCjo/ad+EQJJB4Hv8BFt+IDpQoCx1wjOSBFhh2XssxEIYn3ulI/6MNReE07UIWJEv8UEOWDS88LY97kqyTliJKKtuYBbruAyVh5wOHiXmpi5we58Ek028czwyuQdLKPG1Bkb4NnM+VeAnfHqn1k4+GPT6uGQcvu2h2OVuIf/gWUFyy8OWEpdyZSa3aVCqpVoVvzZZ2VTnn2wU8qzVjDDetO90GSy9mVLqtgYSy231MxrY6I2gGqjrTY0L8fxCxfCBbhWrsYYAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC); display:block; height:44px; margin:0 auto -44px; position:relative; top:-22px; width:44px;"></div></div><p style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px; margin-bottom:0; margin-top:8px; overflow:hidden; padding:8px 0 7px; text-align:center; text-overflow:ellipsis; white-space:nowrap;"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BHc6UuhgZ_K/" style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none;" target="_blank">A video posted by Zlatko (@3latko)</a> on <time style=" font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px;" datetime="2016-07-04T19:44:23+00:00">Jul 4, 2016 at 12:44pm PDT</time></p></div></blockquote> <script async defer src="//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js"></script> <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-version="7" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><div style="padding:8px;"> <div style=" background:#F8F8F8; line-height:0; margin-top:40px; padding:50.0% 0; text-align:center; width:100%;"> <div style=" background:url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAACwAAAAsCAMAAAApWqozAAAABGdBTUEAALGPC/xhBQAAAAFzUkdCAK7OHOkAAAAMUExURczMzPf399fX1+bm5mzY9AMAAADiSURBVDjLvZXbEsMgCES5/P8/t9FuRVCRmU73JWlzosgSIIZURCjo/ad+EQJJB4Hv8BFt+IDpQoCx1wjOSBFhh2XssxEIYn3ulI/6MNReE07UIWJEv8UEOWDS88LY97kqyTliJKKtuYBbruAyVh5wOHiXmpi5we58Ek028czwyuQdLKPG1Bkb4NnM+VeAnfHqn1k4+GPT6uGQcvu2h2OVuIf/gWUFyy8OWEpdyZSa3aVCqpVoVvzZZ2VTnn2wU8qzVjDDetO90GSy9mVLqtgYSy231MxrY6I2gGqjrTY0L8fxCxfCBbhWrsYYAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC); display:block; height:44px; margin:0 auto -44px; position:relative; top:-22px; width:44px;"></div></div><p style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px; margin-bottom:0; margin-top:8px; overflow:hidden; padding:8px 0 7px; text-align:center; text-overflow:ellipsis; white-space:nowrap;"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BIwwE5Bjsv_/" style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none;" target="_blank">A photo posted by Arlind Gashi (@linddi.gashi)</a> on <time style=" font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px;" datetime="2016-08-06T09:11:03+00:00">Aug 6, 2016 at 2:11am PDT</time></p></div></blockquote> <script async defer src="//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js"></script> |

| title | University projects turned Startups |
| body | We all have heard of startups becoming very successful in the business world, all starting from simple school/university projects or otherwise *pet project*. This being the trend I want to share some insights on the process of pet projects transformation into real life business startups, how this process is done and what are some of the barriers and advantages. http://i68.tinypic.com/2d0ev87.png __Clear and Attractive Idea__ To portray it better the best example would be would be Facebook and how Zuckerberg started it as a small project in Harvard, very simple and interesting to use for the audience that gained traction immediately and was the most used application in the University, soon to become the most used in the world. But the question remains how did it became so successful. First of all the project had a clear understanding of what it was and what can be done with it. The idea was easy to understand and was able to create a whole new market around it. This being said great startup products must have a clear value proposition (what they want to offer to customers) and gain the users interest. However usually startups forget about the environment and how it can affect the life of a product or startup, which is related directly with the idea. __The Right Environment__ Since Facebook was just a small project between friends and the students in the campus, it had few risks and a personal relationship with its environment. The audience being targeted were young people who were tech savy and used Internet extensively. From this we understand that Zuckerberg knew the environment around its new startup, that early users of Facebook were competent to use it and could give valuable insights and feedback about the product usage and its features. Main point the audience targeted was right and easily accessible, furthermore the audience was capable of suggesting new improvements and thus could contribute to the development of the product. __Know When To Back Off__ With time passing by, the small campus startup began to increase soon to become one of the biggest social networks on earth. This is a process that all companies need to have although statistics show that majority of the startups fail within a year and very few (5%) survive to have organic growth. Thus startups need to be "innovative" meaning that they need to respond to threats and opportunities. In the beginning startups have the advantage of being loose and less bureaucratic as they innovate easily and respond to shifting customer demands faster. However with the growth of the organization, the founders need to allocate work and focus more on main points that can strengthen the company. Lets take again the example of Facebook where Zuckerberg being the Founder & CEO he did not have the capabilities of a leader or a manager, what he was good at was coding and planning. Which is why experienced experts of the tech industry did the management until now, in 2011 Zuckerberg returned to become again the CEO of Facebook. This lets us understand that even if you as a entrepreneur have devoted a great part of your life to develop your startup and manage it, when growth comes and different set of skills is required, you need to step down and reconsider your ability to lead. Zuckerberg left being CEO and went to develop its leadership and management skills. He still was involved in the decision-making and maintenance but his main focus was to prepare to become the face and leader of the big organization. He understood that his presence would stall the growth process and thus he delegated and empowered the adequate and the right persons for that position until he got ready. The same story is valuable for Google Founders too. They all stepped down and learned how to become leaders. I leave you with an overview of the process of transformation from a university project to a successful growing startup. There are many obstacles that are in this process but these are the main and most stumbled upon. Furthermore I urge you to comment and give an opinion of what might be a problem for your pet project and what are you doing to solve it. |

| body | http://i67.tinypic.com/vql65y.jpg __Entrepreneurial alertness__ has generated a lot of buzz around lately with its emphasis on entrepreneurs being constantly alert seeking for opportunities or better saying, the next big thing. This isn't a new phenomena, there is a small part of entrepreneurs who are born with it, their cognitive process is unconscious, they just do it without an intention. However the rest of us try to learn and adopt it, exercise and repeat it until it becomes a part of our daily life. What i want to say is that some entrepreneurs constantly see opportunities and link the dots without even knowing while others struggle and look for opportunities on purpose. This gave me a reason to contemplate on how do these entrepreneurs come up with such great unheard, "why didn't I think of that" ideas. Do they follow a process or it just comes natural to them. Well all these ideas have something in common, they are __*emerging patterns*__ and __*uncover unmet needs*__ which helps us to understand where these entrepreneurs look for opportunities and/or ideas. Most ideas come from customer usage and perception, how many times have you been dissatisfied with using a product unable to satisfy your needs. Well the ordinary people usually just complain about it, whether-as entrepreneurs try to solve the problem, come up with a solution. It is essential for entrepreneurs if they want to come up with ideas about improving their product, or just spotting opportunities to look what the customer is doing with the product, how they are using it and most importantly why they buy it. Is it the __*experience*__ that they want from that product or service, or the __*perceived value*__ they think the product has. This process is called __Design Thinking__ and its main goal is to understand what's the overall experience, what customers are trying to do or achieve by buying a particular product. Other things to look when spotting opportunities is the __*feedback loop*__ that customers give for a product. This is why organizations want customer feedback and conduct focus groups, to understand why they're dissatisfied, with what they're dissatisfied and what is the problem that they encounter when purchasing products, using them or even in the post purchase process. It is also worth it to look at __alternatives__ (usually organizations don't bother with that), or __substitutes__ and try to understand why they choose to buy from others and not from you. These methods will help entrepreneurs spot opportunities, link the dots and even come up with new ideas about their startup. However it is important to consider factors that foster opportunity recognition which are, (1) the __knowledge__ which the entrepreneur possesses, be it from educational background or life experiences. Usually individuals who traveled or lived in different parts of the world and have experienced different cultures can benefit from these life experience to come up with more different solutions, unique and out of the box in their context. (2) __Creativity__ plays a vital role too, being able to think freely and brainstorm to come up with various solutions interestingly enough it can be appealing to the customers. And last but most important in spotting emerging trends is (3) __Networking__. An great example can be the Oxygen Media CEO Gerry Laybourne who in her morning routine one or twice a week she takes a walk in Central Park with a young person seeking her advice. She describes it as a way of helping bring along the next generation. Since her busy schedule does not allow for her to do it in her office, the morning routine allows her to get exercise, stay connected with young people (networking) and get valuable insights and ideas from the fresh minds of today. I leave you with my final sentence that "*opportunities do not have a tag with them, you have to get your hands dirty and constantly be aware, develop your entrepreneurial alertness by being curious about everything that happens in your environment and you can link the dots, let no opportunity get away and ideas will flow in your mind automatically*". Suggest your opportunity recognition process, how you do it and how it helped you, share your insight with others as others shared it with you. |
