      "body": "Great Sand Dunes National Park is one of our favorite places on earth. It's been over six years at least since we last were able to get here. This time just me and my youngest. But you have to be ok with the wind to enjoy this place. In another month or so the snowmelt will start flowing down and families will be playing and wading in Medano creek.       "body": "So this is the second Valentines Day I've had to endure since deciding to separate a little over a year ago. What makes it awkward is that we live together for financial reasons. And co parenting... This past Hannukah/Christmas/New Years was one of the most difficult months I've ever endured. I kept hoping the earth would just swallow me and make me disappear. \n\nOur first date was Valentine's Day, back when we were students in North Carolina. At a deli. Not very romantic, but the cheesecake was delicious. It was awkward as well. Perhaps a warning? Nah, I'd never change what happened. I'm so tired right now. So don't want to wake up into tomorrow. Blinders. That's what I need. That and no radio while driving. And no love songs at all. And no red. No hearts. Wait, I love hearts. That is my favorite shape. \n\nWhat a pathetic ramble this is. \nMaybe I'll find some forgotten chocolate somewhere to help me take my mind off things.       "body": "It doesn't have to, but it allows for that option. In this case, the question is more of whether a long distance relationship such as ours is sustainable and healthy in the long term - and exploring alternatives without being bound by moralistic judgements of what a relationship can or cannot be.\n\nAlso,  it's not necessarily the case that everyone is suited to, or even looking for marriage. And also the case that many marriages 'fail' because one or both partners feel trapped or limited by being 'owned' by the other.  \n\nThe question of what is sustainable in a relationship goes both ways. For some people in long term marriage, the psychological and emotional toll can get too high. I guess it all depends on the people involved and the arrangements and agreements they make between themselves - how well they get on in a relationship. Communication is important. So is choice of partner. So is accepting and loving our partner for the human they are and allowing them to be that person,  while at the same time being true to ourselves....\n\nSure, it's a lot to take on. I really don't think there's a right or wrong way. Maybe it's all written in the stars. Maybe we keep meeting the same old souls in different incarnations,  each time trying to get it right - to reconcile our differences. Who knows?",
