Manchester United's prodigal son will not be returning after all. I've shed a quick tear, and now like any self respecting man that has been scorned it's time to analyze the broken pieces and figure out \"what's next?\" \n\nWhat I desperately hope first and foremost is that this \"pursuit\" of Ronaldo hasn't endangered the chances of signing peripheral figure and true Madridista Alvaro Morata. It appears as if he is one of Mourinho's main targets, and I think he would make an excellent addition to our squad. I'm still #Rashy4eva but it's clear that he's not going to be able to shoulder the load up front by himself. Couple that with Tony Martial's \"evolution\" (or poor performance) shuttling him outside to the wing and United aren't exactly loaded up top. \n\nHowever, there's a flipside to chasing Morata. If Madrid feel that United have really settled on Morata as the man they're taking to Old Trafford this summer, there's a chance Perez will obstruct the move in an effort to get United to budge on their valuation of sensational Spanish number one David de Gea. If they try and negotiate with Madrid they risk losing a player they sorely need to mount a title challenge next season. Another possible target would be Torino's Andrea Belotti, but United have apparently expressed a reticence to meet the staggering 85 million pound release clause slapped on him by his club. He is a quality player, but there has been a lot said about the decline in quality of Serie A in comparison to some of it's European counterparts and spending such money on a player who has yet to shine on a bigger stage will give United cause for concern. \n\nDespite all the buzz regarding the attacking situation at United, Mourinho does seem keen to add another presence in the midfield as well. Monaco's star duo of Fabinho and Tiemoue Bakayoko have been linked, although the latter does appear to be close to a move to Chelski. More sensible options might reside domestically, as both Tottenham's Eric Dier and Chelski's Nemanja Matic have starred in the gossip pages. If Mourinho has the option of weakening a rival to the Premier League title, I would be wholly in favor of moving for one of these players. Dier would feasibly be the more talented and have an upward trajectory, but Matic has long had an admirer in Mourinho and stealing a key piece from the Premier League champions sounds pretty darn good to me! \n\nLost in all of the transfer mayhem is the fact that United possess several youngsters that appear capable of taking another step in the upcoming season. Mourinho has been accused of stifling the development of young players in the past, and while it clearly irks him, there is plenty of evidence to back up the claims. If players like Axel Tuanzebe, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, and to a lesser extent Angel Gomes follow the same path as Josh McEachran, Charly Musonda, and Lucas Piazon (and many others) than this transfer window will have undoubtedly hurt United more than helped. This is not to say reinforcements are not needed, but it's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture during this crazy summer transfer window. If United were to acquire a midfield player to get that shaggy haired Belgian out of the side, and pick up a striker that could help lessen the burden placed on young Rashy's shoulders it will have been a very successful summer for the Reds after already acquiring a first team center half.",

      "body": "Hi everyone, \n\nThis is my first posting on steemit, and thanks for taking the time to read! I'm a huge sports fan, and am going to be trying to post as much content  as I possibly can about the sports I care about :) \n\nMy first post will attempt to get at what the hell is going on in golf?\n\nWe have truly reached a new frontier in the sport, and that's really saying something. Golf over the last two decades has operated under one central premise: One Tiger to rule them all, and in his greatness bind (make everyone rich) them. Shoutout to those who not only love golf but can appreciate me butchering a LOTR reference. \n\nIt was a strangely magical time. The potent combination of a transcendent talent and a bunch of un-athletic white guys who had yet to embrace the direction their sport was headed made for growth that the sport hadn't seen in it's entire history. For a sport that championed mental fortitude and patience, to see a rising star bludgeoning courses to death so nonchalantly was quite jarring to those who had been long time fans of the game. \n\nIt was exactly what the game needed. Tiger's popularity soared, and with it the game of golf became introduced to the general population whose only previous experience with the game of golf had come from driving past beautifully manicured country clubs that wouldn't allow women and liked to tell people it was a \"tradition\" thing. Uh huh. Whatever all you country club folks wanna hide behind, we all know there's some weird ass shit going on behind the scenes. \n\nThey say stars that shine the brightest also burn out the fastest. And boy did El Tigre flare out spectacularly. I'm not gonna get into the flaming pile of junk that is Tiger Wood's after 2011, but I do want to talk about the change in mindset that all golf fans have struggled to get used to in the years since his dominance. \n\nWe (the golf fans of America) have to accept that NO ONE is ever going to dominate the sport like Tiger did. \n\nIt won't even be close. And it's a really weird place to be in. Is it better to have a singular player that everyone looks to, or is this newfound competition we find ourselves with more compelling as a spectacle? \n\nJason Day. Danny Willett. Dustin Johnson. Henrik Stenson. Jimmy Walker. Sergio Garcia. Brooks Koepka. \n\nThese are the last seven major winners. It's a strange mix of players, there's no doubt. There's the European players who've always had the talent and finally put it together in Garcia and Stenson, there's the young mashers who look capable of winning any tournament when they're on their game in Day, Johnson, and Koepka, and then there's the guys who probably had the best damn weeks of their career at the perfect time in Willett and Walker. \n\nThree very different sets of circumstances, and it's left golf fans puzzled. But fear not, fellow golf lovers! This is strange, and new, and very weird, but it's a GOOD THING. Tiger's greatness has spurred a generation of talent the likes of which the sport of golf has never seen. It will have its growing pains, as those who come to watch this sport will undoubtedly be a tad confused by the abundance of talent that so rarely spend time holding up trophies. \n\nRevel in this new era. We are going to witness the most competitive stretch of golf in history. A level where even those who aren't traditionally considered \"elite\" by their peers are still talented enough to go out there and win a major if they have a good week. As golf fans turn their eyes to the Open, hosted at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England at the end of July, let's try to embrace this new mindset.",
