      "body": "Bitmain Technologies Ltd. is launching a crypto mining facility and blockchain data center in the U.S. state of Texas at a former aluminum smelting facility with a recently-retired coal power station. The company is reportedly getting a tax abatement phased in over 10 years.\n\n                               Crypto Mining Facility in Texas:-\n\nBitmain Technologies Ltd. announced Monday the launch of its newest blockchain data center and mining facility in a rural part of the U.S. state of Texas.The facility will be located in the city of Rockdale, roughly 50 miles northeast of Texas’ capital, with an estimated population of 5,595. It will occupy a section of the former Alcoa Rockdale operations site which includes an aluminum smelting facility and a recently-retired coal-burning power plant. Alcoa Inc. is the world’s sixth largest producer of aluminium.\n\n\nMilam County Judge Dave Barkemeyer confirmed to local newspaper Temple Daily Telegram last week that Bitmain is moving to the county. With the construction and facility setup underway, the facility is expected to be completed “early in the fourth quarter of 2018, with the data center initiation in early 2019,” according to the mining giant.\n\n                     $500+ Million Investment & 400+ Jobs:-\n\nThe facility “represents an investment of more than US $500 million by Bitmain over an initial period of seven years into the local, county, and statewide economies,” according to the company’s announcement.\n\nBitmain Launches Key Crypto Mining Facility in TexasBitmain expects to bring in 400 local jobs to the Rockdale economy over the first two years. The company is currently recruiting for multiple positions, ranging from senior management, sales and finance to research associates, engineers, technicians and other roles.\n\n“The new jobs will be full-time, fully benefitted and will include positions in engineering and management, as well as opportunities for data center technicians,” the Telegram added.\n\nCiting that the deal is a “game changer,” the Milam County Industrial Development Corporation president, Richard E.       "body": "After the SEC Announcement Cryptocurrency Prices Slide Significantly \n\nDigital currency values are hurting today as the entire cryptocurrency market capitalization has dropped since our last markets update from $250B to $231B on August 8. Despite the drop in value, trade volumes for all 1600+ coins has increased to $15B over the last day. A few days ago, cryptocurrencies saw the first dip before the SEC announcement, which took place after the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) deal was revealed. However, after the quick dip, BTC/USD prices moved back up to the $7,140 region for a short period of time. The next two significant drops in value occurred after the SEC revealed delaying the ETF decision leading to today’s BTC/USD low of $6,391 per coin.\n\n\n                                                           Bitcoin Core (BTC) Market Action:-\n\nBitcoin core (BTC) prices at the moment are around $6481 per BTC and the cryptocurrency’s market valuation today is $111B. Daily trade volume is decent but nothing spectacular at $5B USD in BTC traded over the last 24 hours. According to Satoshi Pulse statistics, the exchanges swapping the most bitcoin core this Wednesday include Bitflyer FX, Binance, Bitfinex, Okex, and Coinbene. The top currency traded with BTC currently is tether (USDT) which captures 54.2 percent of trades. This is followed by USD (24%), JPY (11.3%), EUR (3.9%), and KRW (2.6%). BTC is seeing a daily loss of around 8 percent today but the coin’s market dominance among all 1600+ currencies is 49 percent.\n\n                                                           BTC/USD Technical Indicators:-\n\nLooking at the 4-hour BTC/USD chart on Bitstamp and Coinbase shows bears have a tight grip over markets right now. The chart’s two moving averages (MA) has the 100MA above the longer-term 200MA trendline which means things will likely stay bearish for the short term. However, RSI levels (24.5) show extremely oversold conditions and there could be a small uptick if prices sink lower. Order books show heavy resistance from the current vantage point up until $6750 if bulls can manage to climb that high. On the backside, foundational support is bountiful and moving back is going to take some time. If negative prices continue, there will be longer pitstops between $6,300 and $5,900 as there is solid support in this region.\n\n                                                             Bitcoin Cash (BCH) Market Action:-\n\nBitcoin cash (BCH)Markets Update: Crypto-Prices Slide After SEC Announcement values have also dipped considerably since our last markets update as one BCH is trading for $604 at press time. This Wednesday, BCH has an overall market capitalization of around $10.5B and 24-hour trade volume is about $443M. The top five bitcoin cash trading platforms on August 8 include Coinex, Huobi, Okex, Binance, and Hitbtc. BCH is seeing a daily loss of around 14.2 percent and is the fourth highest market valuation among every coin in existence. The top currency swapped for BCH today is tether (USDT) with 54 percent of today’s BCH trades. Their commitment allows us to expand our customer offerings, grow our team and increase our customer base.”\n\nIndeed, investors seem to think the field of crypto reporting is worthwhile. Back in November 2017, Libra raised $7.8 million in its Series A funding round, adding to their previously raised $2 million seed round from firms like Fenbushi Capital.       "body": "Coinatmradar.com reports a milestone of the 3,500 threshold being crossed for bitcoin ATMs (BATM) installed across the globe. One of the goals behind bitcoin automated teller machines is ease of onboarding to the world of crypto. A bear market – a protracted Crypto Winter – appeared to slow BATMs’ placement. \n\nCoinatmradar.com announced this week a psychological milestone for the ecosystem had been reached: more than 3,500 bitcoin ATM machines are now installed all over the world. Not so long ago, BATMs were thought to a perfect onboarding tool, and especially in the United States.\n\nAmericans are already trained on the basic tech, having had decades of automated ways to snag cash. That such machines could be placed where consumers are, rather than the customer having to seek it out, meant BATMs would be put in liquor stores, fast food restaurants, shopping malls, movie theatres, etc. It was just a matter of time until such convenience caught on.  \n\nThat was before prices soured and the US federal government began cracking down on BATM operators. “No doubt, US regulations play a huge role in our business,” head of marketing at Blockchain BTM, Tim Curry stressed. “We would be able to provide many more services, and for much cheaper, were it not for a myriad of regulations we must comply with,” Mr. Curry explained to News.Bitcoin.com at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego, where his company was an exhibitor.\nStill, the fact so many BATMs are up and running, with a heavy concentration of those in the United States, and all this during a bear market, is testimony to BATMs’ potential power. “It’s a bank in a box,” Mr. Curry noted. “We can onboard someone faster than Coinbase, and in about two to three minutes from start to finish. No having to wait up to a week. No linking your personal bank account.” Blockchain BTM is largely focused on the California market at the moment, from the border with Mexico to about as far north as Bakersfield.\n\nJust shy of a year and a half ago, the ecosystem celebrated BATMs reaching four digits, 1,000, around the world. Of the approximate 3,500 installed across the globe, over 1,800 support alternative coins such as litecoin and ether. North America retains the greatest concentration of machines, with close to 2,600 installed between the United States and Canada. \n\nAt present, something on the order of 9 BATMs are being installed per day. Genesis Coin and General Bytes make up over half of all installations. Most machines are set to offramp from fiat, government paper, and onto crypto.       "body": "Cryptocurrency services firm AlphaPoint is powering a new decentralized exchange, the company announced Monday.\n\nDCEX, a San Francisco-based marketplace, formally opened registration for its platform, though clients will not be able to begin trading for a few more weeks. The exchange notably uses XRP as its “base currency,” meaning many of its trading pairs are denominated in the third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, AlphaPoint CEO Salil Donde said in a blog post.\n\nIn its announcement, DCEX says it will be able to offer a total of 15 trading pairs, including XRP, bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum, ethereum classic, vechain, zcash, and stable-coin TrueUSD. The exchange further says it will add neo and ADA, among other trading pairs within months. DCEX also offers access to all 10 coins listed in the Bloomberg Galaxy Crypto Index, which include monero, EOS and dash.\n\nThe exchange is based on AlphaPoint’s distributed ledger, the announcement said.\n\nDCEX uses XRP as a base in order rapidly move funds with low transaction costs, Donde wrote. Specifically, the XRP ledger is designed for high execution speeds and settlement within a few seconds, which can provide an advantage for traders.\n\nThe news comes just a month and a half after AlphaPoint announced it had successfully raised $15 million in its first round of venture capital funding.       "body": "It's no secret that most mainstream economists don't think too highly of cryptocurrencies. Not only have Bitcoin, Ethereum and the rest produced the \"greatest bubble in history,\" but they're \"neither a serious method of payment nor a good way to store capital\" — at least according to the Bank of America and Nouriel \"Dr Doom\" Roubini, respectively.\n\nHowever, while traditional financial experts have spent countless hours complaining that the volatility of cryptocurrencies renders them unviable as actual currency, it is possible to use them as money in a wide variety of places and to spend them on everything from pizzas to shoes.\n\nBut which cryptocurrency is the most usable as money? Well, perhaps unsurprisingly, the answer to this question is Bitcoin, simply because it's accepted as a payment more widely than any other cryptocurrency. But as this analysis will show, other currencies are being increasingly accepted by retailers and companies, and given their superior scalability, they may end up overtaking the original cryptocurrency in the coming months and years.\n \n                            Bitcoin accepted here:-\nThere's no single authoritative list of all the companies in the world that accept cryptocurrencies as payment, although there are a number of aggregators and websites that offer a general overview of who is accepting what. The most helpful is arguably Virtual Coin Squad, since even though it doesn't quite boast the most extensive catalogue of merchants now accepting cryptocurrencies, it actually lists companies together with all the cryptocurrencies they accept. As such, it provides a clear insight into which cryptocurrency is the most widely used as a means of payment.\n\n54 major companies currently accept cryptocurrencies, according to Virtual Coin Squad (although the real number is much higher), and only two of them — MazeFit (sportswear) and Shiny Leaf (cosmetics) — don't accept Bitcoin. The other 53 – including Microsoft, Expedia, Mozilla, and Shopify – all accept BTC, while 25 accept Litecoin, 13 accept Ethereum, 14 accept Bitcoin Cash, 12 accept Monero, and 15 accept Dogecoin. In other words, Bitcoin is the most usable cryptocurrency as a method of payment, for the simple reason that any merchant that accepts any crypto is almost certain to accept Bitcoin, while the same can't be said for other coins.Of course, a list of only 55 companies isn't exactly exhaustive, but there are other, more extensive resources which corroborate this picture.The same goes with the information provided by Coinmap, which enables users to search a map of the world for businesses that accept cryptocurrencies. Here, a search of New York City, for example, reveals 136 such businesses within the central area of the city — overlapping Manhattan and Brooklyn. Many of these deal exclusively in Bitcoin, such as a number of delicatessens — e.g. Brooklyn's Tony Deli, Big Boy Deli, and G Line Deli — that house their own Bitcoin ATMs.\n\n                                     Cross-border settlements and paying your taxes:-\n\nThere's a variety of other less direct evidence that also reveals the superior popularity of Bitcoin in comparison to other cryptocurrencies. For instance, Cambridge University published its Global Cryptocurrency Benchmarking Study in April 2017, which for the first time provided a systematic study of alternative payment systems. While it didn't focus exclusively on payments by consumers to companies, it nonetheless discovered that 86 percent of cryptocurrency payment companies use Bitcoin as their primary payment rail for cross-border payments.\n\nSuch payments cover a variety of uses — from international money transfers to business-to-business payments and merchant services — so they don't directly equal evidence that, say, Bitcoin is accepted by 86 percent of the companies that let customers pay using cryptocurrency. Still, they indicate that Bitcoin is the most used cryptocurrency for payments, which in turn would indicate that anyone wanting to buy something with crypto would be best advised to hold on to some Bitcoin, since the system is currently geared more for dealing with Bitcoin payments than with those in any other digital currency.\n\nThat said, it may not stay this way for long. Aside from the increasingly popular range of payment services that let companies charge using a number of cryptocurrencies, moves have been made in various nations that would promote the use of crypto more generally for use with payments. In South Korea, the country's largest exchange, Bithumb, has been securing partnerships with a number of online platforms, including WeMakePrice and Yeogi Eottae. Under the terms of these deals, the platforms involved will be able to accept payments in a range of currencies (including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, and ICON), while Bithumb is also pushing hard for such deals and initiatives to be accepted elsewhere in South Korea.\n\n                                            Adoption steadily growing:-\nWhile the foregoing shows that other cryptocurrencies may hold the key to the future, it doesn't necessarily address the popular conception among some high-profile critics that Bitcoin and its rivals aren't 'real money.' In a now (in)famous blog post trashing blockchains, for instance, Kai Stinchcombe wrote in April that the \"number of retailers accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment is declining,\" basing this sweeping assertion on a single Morgan Stanley report which found that, out of 500 \"top online merchants,\" the number of them accepting Bitcoin as payment decreased — between 2016 and 2017 — from five to three.\n\nHowever, Bach Nguyen of SatoshiLabs informed Cointelegraph that the overall number is actually increasing. “A year ago, there were 9085 venues registered [with Coinmap],” he states. \"Today, there are 12,801 venues registered.”![0117e7c8b6a9df5d57395a85170f5d23.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQ6YNFsJZGxaf2dwP5FKYmXbg1QnspyFwibEErrnAf3QN/0117e7c8b6a9df5d57395a85170f5d23.png)",

It is donating $1 million to the victims in West Japan affected by heavy rains.\n\nJapan witnessed unprecedented rainfall on July 7 that resulted in landslides and floods at several places. As per reports, more than 60 people lost their lives in a space of two days and more than a dozen people are still missing. An immediate evacuation of the two million people from the disaster-struck area was ordered by PM Shinzo Abe.\n\nFollowing this, Binance posted a blog on Sunday pledging to donate USD 1m to all those affected in the Japan flood disaster.
