hexagonsixpublished a new post: new-blog-idea
2019/02/06 20:48:57
authorhexagonsix
bodyI've still not decided what my steemit account is going to be about, and maybe I never will and it'll just be random. But here is a new idea I'm planning on starting. YouTube video reviews/commentary. I watch a lot of YouTube videos, and I tend to post very long comments on these videos. I must have spent thousands of hours now just commenting on YT videos. This is obviously not very productive as most of these comments are not even read, at least not if the video is a few weeks old. Not that I check back very often anymore, but from experience, it's only the first comments that are very short format that get exposure on YT. One of my most upvoted YT comments of all time was just a single word, it was the word "Liars" under a video where politicians where clearly lying to everyone. But since this is a blog format social media site I assume people here are a little fonder of reading and can handle blocks of text that doesn't have a paragraph cut every damn sentence. Paragraph cut. So these post will contain the original YT video along with my commentary for better or for worse, I figure it will get the video and channel at least some extra exposure so it's not like I'll be taking anybody's work. If anyone disagrees on how this should be done then feel free to let me know. Below there is an example of how this will work with a video I just watched and the comment I posted. I will always try to make it as clear as possible that none of these videos are mine, and there will be a link to the original channel at the bottom of the page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKfR6bAXr-c Some of the most sensible advice I've heard about food so far. I was thinking along these lines anyway, that we'd probably be adapted to our environment so eating the way they ate in the past would make a lot of sense. Wouldn't this be different from what region you're from though? For example here in Scandinavia almost nobody is lactose intolerant, in the US about 50% are, and in the Native American population it's 100%. And I had the impression that people of the past, at least around these parts, would eat constantly, usually nuts and berries, but pretty much anything edible they could find. This could be very different from the jungle tribes we find today as we have very harsh winters where very little food was available, so storing up fat in the body to survive the winter would probably be something they wanted. For us modern people is more about looking good than anything, no matter how much we talk about health benefits, looking good and showing we're in control of ourselves is really what matters. In the past, you'd have a nice car or a nice watch or a good job or whatever, but the status symbol of today is a great body. Somebody else said that by the way, not me. I just thought it made sense since nobody really cares what car you drive anymore, or if you even have one, but if you're fat then you better have a freaking awesome personality to offset it, being fat is tantamount to a crime these days. I weighed myself today for the first time in years, I've gained 10kg, which puts me at 90kg. Before I was at 80kg which is just within the BMI for my 180cm, so now at 90kg I'm officially 10kg overweight. I'm not happy about this at all, especially since I just started working out about three weeks ago. So I started looking at ways to eat healthier for the hundredth time in my life, and much like in the start of this video I once again got lost in the endless contradictions of countless diets and useless advice. That's when I started thinking I'd have to do this myself. Luckily this video popped up since Google is so good at spying on what I write, and I think I'm going to try this. If there really is no health downsides to just eating less, then that sounds like the perfect plan. And I had no idea about that glucose thing, makes a lot of sense, to me at least, so thanks for a great video. Now we'll just have to see how it works out. No more cake or latte or anything,,, wonder if I could live on just those things once a day... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This video was published on Jul 27, 2016 by [What I've Learned](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqYPhGiB9tkShZorfgcL2lA) PS: Just in case it wasn't clear, the cakes and lattes only part was supposed to be a joke, kinda, although admittedly not a very good one.

"body": "I've still not decided what my steemit account is going to be about, and maybe I never will and it'll just be random. One of my most upvoted YT comments of all time was just a single word, it was the word \"Liars\" under a video where politicians where clearly lying to everyone. But since this is a blog format social media site I assume people here are a little fonder of reading and can handle blocks of text that doesn't have a paragraph cut every damn sentence. Paragraph cut.\n\nSo these post will contain the original YT video along with my commentary for better or for worse, I figure it will get the video and channel at least some extra exposure so it's not like I'll be taking anybody's work. If anyone disagrees on how this should be done then feel free to let me know. Below there is an example of how this will work with a video I just watched and the comment I posted. I will always try to make it as clear as possible that none of these videos are mine, and there will be a link to the original channel at the bottom of the page.\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKfR6bAXr-c \n\nSome of the most sensible advice I've heard about food so far. \n\nFor us modern people is more about looking good than anything, no matter how much we talk about health benefits, looking good and showing we're in control of ourselves is really what matters. bodySounds like you've been surrounded by extremely shitty people, I'm sorry about that. In a world where we're conditioned to strive for our own success, people tend to forget that we're social creatures and need to support each other to thrive. My approach is to be as warm as possible, with the hope to inspire that in others too. Often fails, sometimes it doesn't. Not saying it's something you should do, because it requires a lot of energy and often ends in pain. But it's an option.

bodyI don't think I ever met anyone who actually gave a shit anyway, except my parents and brothers. I've gotten more help from random strangers than from the people I used to call "friends". That's why I don't have friends anymore, everyone I meet is just cold-hearted users and abusers, and I feel like I've already given them more than they deserve. If that's what it's like to have friends, then I think I'd rather take the loneliness and lack of affection. Robin Williams has a great quote about this: "I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone."

bodyI completely agree. The mental health industry is still bordering on barbaric, the truth is they don't know what they're doing at all, for all they know they're causing more suicides than they prevent. I've had depression and anxiety most of my life. I've had a lot of doctors and tried quite a few meds throughout the years. The only thing they ever did was make it worse, none of them helped even in the slightest. The times I relapsed back into attempting suicide was always at a time when I was seeing a doctor and getting medication. Best thing I ever did for myself in regards to overcome this terrible illness was realizing there was a massive problem with the world we live in, and also coming to the conclusion that psychology actually makes people sick by making every single human trait a diagnosis if it dosen't conform to what some arbitrary judgment of what they consider "healthy". And when stopped listening to them that is when I stopped worrying about being sick or that there was anything wrong with me, and that made me feel much better. Obviously, it didn't change my life to become some perfect fluffy dream like the ads and facebook would have us believe other people live, but it did at least take one burden off my shoulders that never needed to be there in the first place. We're not meant to live like this, of course we're "depressed", everything everywhere is always telling us we're not good enough after all. Don't you feel motivated to join and work for the sick system that is literally killing everyone on Earth, then you must be sick, what a load of nonsense.

bodyI don't see what that has to do with anything. Accepting yourself also means accepting your wants and desires. I'd like to look great. Back when I didn't care about myself very much I was just sitting around and wasting away, now that I care more I've started working out. And sure it's healthy and all, but that's not the only reason I'm doing it. I think that because of this post I'm going to start picking my eyebrows too, there are some stray hairs here and there. Vanity is part of being human too, it's just another thing to accept and love about ourselves. Once you start feeling better on the inside, then wanting to look better on the outside comes naturally anyway. Not only does it make yourself feel better, sometimes it brightens the day of others too. There is no such thing as a wasted life, thinking that is a bubble. It just means you put yourself above others who you deem unworthy, seems like you could use some self love to me. Not everyone has to be like you, for me just meditating everyday was a big step to take, is that a waste of life too? Besides, many spiritual practices advocated keeping to ourselves, including one of the oldest in existence, the Tao Te Ching, which was written about 2500 years ago by a hermit. If I misunderstood your post I apologize, I can get a bit annoyed when someone tries to put others down to feel better about themselves, which is what I feel you're doing.

body
![Haters_will_come_Banner.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQDakTQTxKra7YLqfSZZHhSgw3HVKTVyaTfGuMExfPy4n/Haters_will_come_Banner.png)
Like with almost every man on Earth, I've been having some problems with the whole dating scene. Recently I developed a bit of a crush on a long time friend. I figured, what hell, I know her well enough so why not go for it. When I let my intentions known I quickly began to see a new side of her, a side which is not very attractive at all. But knowing all her good qualities I decided to try to find ways to deal with it. So every time something came up I went to get dating advice of the internet. And what I found was that the amount of shit us guys are expected to put up with is beyond insane. There are literally millions of videos and articles telling men how to behave to get a woman. The funny part is that almost all of the advice is more or less how I've been acting anyway, and I suspect most men act in this way as it's not like we've never had to deal with these kind of situations before. It seems to me that all this advice is worthless, and also the wast majority of it written by women for men. This gave me the idea to make a counter channel where I give women advice on how to get men and see how they like that, might be more on that later. Some of this advice even go so far as to try to tell you how to think. Ministry of Love, 1984, anyone? Now I don't know what things are like where you are from, but I grew up in Norway, here women have been running the show since before I was born. I've always just thought it was how it's supposed to be, that they pick us, not the other way around, as that's how it appears to be in most of the western world. But the level of condescending and conceited women have reached unbearable proportions. I really didn't think that this particular friend would ever behave like she has, especially not after I offered to take care of her and her new born baby that she has from another relationship that was falling apart. That any man would want to take care of a child that's not even his is pretty amazing in my opinion, but that on top of that he's expected to deal with a ton of crap just blows my mind. Us men are expected to conform to any whim they might have. Some of them even expect us to read their minds, it's insanity. It didn't take very long before I got fed up with the smug women advising me on how I could have the honor of becoming a slave for the rest of my life. And that is when I googled this.
![Screen_Google.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmY3iwGAABZQ83A6iTtrCzAbHKsXsuZ6iqyF57AYtYP5r2/Screen_Google.png)
Anyone see anything wrong with this picture? I'll tell you anyway. I was wondering how women, especially ones with kids, are able to get any men at all. And what google came up with was, how to date a single mom, why you should date a single mom, and this gem, 10 reasons why to NOT date single dads. Anyone think this seems a little off center? Now if this was a place where women still have to fight for power then I might be understanding of this kind of brainwashing. But that is not the world I live in, I've grown up in a place where everything is equal. A world where everyone, male or female have all the resources they need to not only take care of themselves, but to prosper. This is true in every aspect of life, from entertainment to work. With the exception of dating of course, there women seem to hold all the power. Now I'm not the kind of guy that could rope someone into some abusive relationship, and I likely never will be. So what is a guy to do? Just submit to all these unrealistic expectations? Because what started to happen to me was that with this girl I had know for so long, that I've always seen as a good friend and an easy going and easy to get along with person, had me start feeling like I was setting myself up for a prison sentence. Not only would have I have to take care of a new born child, which I actually don't think I'd mind that much, but I apparently also have to take care of a grown up child. When everything is supposed to be equal to the point where men have to take care of their looks just as much if not more than women, then how is it that we're still expected to be responsible for their emotions while we are expected to control ours? Are women just walking around with their head in the clouds thinking they can have their cake and eat it too? And then we get to listen to how terrible all us men are, and how we need to change for them and so on. How are you other guys out there dealing with this crap? I'm thinking Red Pill but I kinda hate those types of people, and MGTOW is not my thing either, I'd actually like a healthy relationship with the right girl. I think I managed to deal with about two weeks of her nonsense before I cracked, and that was after having been friends for years with very few problems at all. And now she's not even wanting to be friends anymore because of a tiny thing she blew way out of proportion and then tried to guilt me over, like I would fall for that. Because I swore at someone in public, not even her, just some random annoying guy I figured I'd take it out on. She knew me, she knew I do stuff like that sometimes. But now it was apparently a reason to end the friendship and "need space", like anyone even knows what that means. And she kicked me off her social media too, even left a group of her own friends just because I was in it. Is this not extremely childish behavior? Or is this considered acceptable in some parallel universe I'm not aware of? So this is what I did, I went and talked to the father of her child, which she had tried to forbid me from doing before, but at this point I didn't really care that much anymore. She had been telling me all this stuff about how horrible he is, getting angry and abusing her and so on. But after talking to the guy and listening to his side of the story, things began to make a lot more sense. He didn't seem like a bad guy to me at all, flawed maybe, but he actually seemed to be a lot like me. And his side of the story made a lot more sense to me than hers, he actually seemed like he would have been a pretty stable guy if he had just met someone who treated him as well as he had treated her from the start. It didn't take me very long to see her bad side when I showed interest, I can only imagine what this guy had had to go through the last couple of years. He was not exactly the kind of guy that sticks up for himself, she was just jerking him around like a puppet the whole time while she was telling me about what an asshole he was. Any of this sounds familiar to anyone? Because it's not the first time I've seen this, and I doubt it will be the last. At this point I didn't feel like I was setting myself up for prison anymore, but for life on death row. So I told her off a bit, very calmly mind you, not even a swear word or anything. Despite that she was just throwing unfounded accusations around, trying to guilt trip me, trying to gas light me by telling me my memory sucks and I get everything wrong, swearing, and just generally being abusive. I knew she has some issues with men, it's not like any of this really took me by surprise as I've seen her act that way with other people, so staying clam was relativity easy, I feel like I held my ground pretty well. So now I'm giving her space, and part of me feels really guilty because I actually feel relieved, like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders. Part of me hopes she never comes back, but the truth is, if she did I'd probably just go back to where I started more or less, possibly with a bit of a lower tolerance for bullshit this time. But still I would most likely give her another chance, and another, and another. Even if I don't want to be with her, I still don't think I'd have the hearth to turn her down if she came back. So what is wrong with me? Is this the brainwashing indoctrination of a flawed society at work, or is it just me?

Ministry of Love, 1984, anyone?\n\nNow I don't know what things are like where you are from, but I grew up in Norway, here women have been running the show since before I was born. And that is when I googled this.\n\n
![Screen_Google.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmY3iwGAABZQ83A6iTtrCzAbHKsXsuZ6iqyF57AYtYP5r2/Screen_Google.png)
\n\nAnyone see anything wrong with this picture?\n\nI'll tell you anyway. body![Broken_Dreams.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSJZR2QtK41LGgXxpC1hfxkGW7mimeYnQkQHQs1XsLJcm/Broken_Dreams.png) Guess it's back to normal life. Here is a drawing I did with Blender a few days ago. I suppose it represents my fear of the technological dystopia we seem to be willingly herded into. A city of millions of people, where nobody really knows anybody, where people disappear without a trace every day, where lost souls are exploited for profit, where everyone is dying for attention, recognition and a quick buck. This is your view as it's raining through your broken window that your landlord said he'd fix ages ago but never does, and of course you can't afford to have it fixed yourself since you're a janitor. Enjoy. Here is just the city part without the foreground, slightly less depressing. ![Neon_city_cropped.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWhDpZJ12p29uebuvX3HSDtjapMepa6xK8myymFJPQSZw/Neon_city_cropped.png)

body> Personally I'd like a social media site/app like Steemit where we could develop this "government" in a more unified way on the blockchain itself rather than a bunch of forums and chatrooms and articles spread all over the place. I agree now the documentation of the rules seems to be spread out everywhere. And it doesn't feel clear to me who are involved and what their power are. But naturally, this is the cause of everything being new. Confusing and exciting times haha.
