Within this interface, users can easily participate in the incentive program. Make sure you participate within the given timeframe. Deadline: 31–07–2018, 23:59:59 UTC +8.\n\nBelow we have provided a detailed breakdown of the steps to follow in the process to lockup your HER tokens. If you are experienced in Ethereum development, you don’t have to be limited to this tutorial.\n\nSpecific steps:\n1.Environment preparation\n\nAll the operations are completed at https://www.myetherwallet.com/#contracts.\n\n2. Authorize the HER smart contract to lockup your HER token\n\nThe contract cannot deduct your HER token automatically without your permission, so this step requires your authorization.\n\n1) Go to https://www.myetherwallet.com/#contracts. Copy and paste HER’s contract address: 0x491c9a23db85623eed455a8efdd6aba9b911c5df into the “Contract Address” text box.\n\n2) Copy the HER Contract ABI* and paste it into the text box in ABI/JSON Interface:\n\n3) Click the Access button.\n\n4) In the following Read / Write Contract part, select the ‘’approve’’ method.\n\n5) In ‘’spender address’’, paste the HER smart contract address:\n\n0x9ea4e6846E46098eb3a678A7061a9A92227AF37A\n\n6) The parameter _value is the total number of HERs you would like to lockup plus eighteen 0s at the end of it. We look forward to creating more value, both in the field of blockchain technology and the field of market economy. \n\nIn everything lies the coexistence of positiveness and negativity. \n\nThe sluggish market environment has made it hard for the price of HER to significantly increase, and it also has made people start to question Hero Node. Here, on behalf of all members of Hero Node, I would like to answer all the questions one by one. \n\nQuestion 1: The project side almost shows no development progress \n\nThe current development progress of the team is strictly following the roadmap on our official website. We are going to create a decentralized Dapp development platform together with its supportive node network, on which we have already made some achievements. \n\nCurrently, the developers in our team are trying to make more public chains accessible and restructure our development kits with the latest JS features. \n\nNot long ago, we released the first fully decentralized Dapp based on Hero Node, the Hero Blog, of which the Android Dapp will also be released soon. \n\nIf I use a word to describe our team, I think it should be “modest”. After completing a very successful crowdsale, our team only had a simple meal as celebration and then returned to the company and continue to work, busy as usual. For a team of no more than 20 people, everyone plays a versatile role. We work overtime on every weekend, hold overseas meet-ups, participate in endless meetings, and even prepare to work when taking a break. Some developers in our team even lose their loved \"her\" in the real life just because of the virtual \"HER\". \n\nBut we firmly believe that, no pains, no gains. \n\nQuestion 2: Its performance in market is a mess \n\nNo one wants to lose money. And my sadness is even worse than yours because HER is more like my \"child\". So, when she was wronged, the most heartbroken person will be no one else but me. \n\nMany people in the community didn't understand why some people had worked so hard to get registered for the whitelist, but the HER amount they grabbed in the 5-min intense crowdsale finally ended up with being sold at a price 30% below the break price. What do the sneers in the community even think they are doing? \n\nIn such a long development cycle, short-term price fluctuations cannot represent the real value of the project itself. \nWhen people are worrying about the prices, they neglect something else. The past decade is the era of cloud computing and big data. With the development of blockchain technology, we believe that decentralization is the future.\n\nCentralization and decentralization\nWhat is the difference between centralization and decentralization?\n\nKevin Kelly once pointed that when adaptability is required, decentralized individual service is what you need. Here, the conceptual features and advantages are plain to see.\n\nEverything develops in a circle, such as the four seasons of a year, the history, and so does the Internet.\n\nThe Internet has undergone in turn a process of centralization, decentralization, and centralization again. The dispersion determines that our services will not stop just because of certain servers’ breakdowns.\n\nBefore the blockchain technology was born, fog computing is just a framework for problems solving with no practical application. However, the birth of blockchain has made it possible for such strategic landing of centralization.\n\nBased on this, I believe that the next decade will be the era of decentralized fog computing service.\n\nIn blockchain technology, the traditional technology architecture will be overturned and replaced by DApp technology. The present imagination for blockchain now reflects that prevalent in 2016, when no single application of blockchain was made though the new technology seemed almighty. The difference lies in that our perception radius now has been enlarged after the surge of share price of bitcoin and ICO, and with the intelligent contract of ethereum, blockchain has already entered the 2.0 era, diversifying the applications built on the chains.\n\nPresently, there appears a few relatively mature public blockchains such as Qtum, Bytom, and antshares. However, as an article on 36Kr reported, when developing the blockchain-based decentralized application (DApp), the developer faces a series of obstacles like low-performance, high threshold for C-end users, and high cost. Apart from these technical shortcomings, there is the problem of shortage of talents for public blockchain technology, and a severe scarcity of technicians who understand the blockchain bottom development will hinder the building-up of application.\n\nNow the white paper of Hero Node will explain the technical threshold for developing DApp:\n\nFirst, we face the interdisciplinary feature of blockchain bottom technology, which involve knowledge or techniques like basic programming, cryptology, distributed consistent protocol, point-to-point network communications and various consensus algorithms (please refer to the official website of bitcoin or the Bitcoin White Paper).\n\nSecond, we face the diversity of development languages of public blockchains. Bitcoin employs C++ language is employed to program the bitcoin; in order to attract more technicians to participate in, ethereum has several different versions like go and C++; and antshares employs C#. If you want to program DApp on different public blockchains, you have to familiarize with related languages. Usually, one developer is versed at only one language, so he would choose the public blockchain based on the language he is proficient at rather than based the features of the chain.\n\nThirdly, most of the current DApp provide external service through PC-port website or intelligent contract-defined interface interchange. The popularizing rate of mobile port is still low due to the incomplete ecology at present.\n\nHero Node intends to lower the threshold of developers’ engaging in decentralized application through the establishment of a trans-public blockchain and trans-platform plan.\n\nLiu Guoping, the founder of Hero Node, believes that whoever that can solve the development problems of DApp will take control of the next decade. Meanwhile, Hero Node packages the achievable operations on the public blockchains into different kinds of API, that is, centralized operations such as inquiry, transaction, payment and contract. And developers could visit all the public blockchains through API. Externally, developers only need to know these ports to fulfill the development of DApp, among which the ports of contract are more complicated and teams provide different contract templates based on different scenes.\n\nIn this way, developers do not need to be proficient in the agreements and base course of all kinds of blockchains, which solves the limitation of the selection of public blockchains due to the variety of development languages, as mentioned in the beginning of the passage. Developers could choose public blockchain according to different scenes. Liu Guoping cites an example that daily operations could be put on blockchains with less value, while more valuable operations should be put on blockchains with higher values. Hero Node will at least support major public blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin, ethereum and Qtum Blockchain, and support the development of Javascript.\n\nApplication of Blockchain Establish trans-public blockchain DApp development platform, Hero Node wishes to lower the development threshold.\n\nSchematic Diagram of Hero Node Establishment\n\nWhen visiting specific public blockchain through API, the information on this blockchain are ensured to be decentralized. But how to ensure the authenticity and credibility of the transmission of trans-blockchain information with the current design of trans-blockchain. Liu Guoping claims that Hero Node’s port could be deemed as a middleware that connects both ends, one connecting all kinds of public blockchains and the other one connecting the storage service based on IPFS distributed file storage system. The interaction methods and business logic between different public blockchains, as well as other files and abstracts, will be stored and published on IPFS and IPNS, and then generate a broadcast address on the blockchain. This guarantees that the logical relations between different blockchains are traceable and could be made public.\n\nWithin such a structure, as Guoping suggests, applications can choose to store data such as the routine operations, which has no need of being synchronized on the whole network, into IPFS, and to synchronize the dealings on other public blockchains.\n\nSince the industry of blockchain is at the initial stage of prospering, it is hard to find a company identical to Hero Node, but some that overlap in conceptions are indeed existing. In the area of lowering the development threshold of DApp, those devoting themselves to similar causes are BlockStack, a blockchain browser, and ArcBlock, a DApp development & deployment that has been reported by 36Kr. Those that are devoted to solving the problem of blockchain storage are IPFS (FileCoin), StorJ and Sia (SiaCoin), while EtherParty is one example that works on the blockchain smart contract template.\n\nThe advantages of Hero Node probably lies in its deeper understanding of developers. For four years or so, the team has been devoted to building the development framework for the cross-platform applications, which was programmed with Javascript and could run on Android, iOS and H5. Hero Node, as a decentralized node, can be independently deployed by the developers soon; as planned, you will see the launch of this program this April.\n\nPresently, the team of Hero Node is made up of 12 members, most of whom come from Dianrong, a company specialized at financial technology.\n\n\nLiu Guoping, the founder of Hero Node, earlier participated in bitcoin mining and served in a few Internet companies such as Wind Information, The9 Limited and Dianrong. It wasn’t long before it convinced me that it would be the ideal data storage system in a blockchain-powered future. Like blockchain, it perfectly embodies the spirit of decentralization. IPFS is a protocol. It is based on BitTorrent, which we know is a relatively mature technology. IPFS introduces DAGs (directed acyclic graphs), to adapt BitTorrent into a means of organizing and storing files. Meanwhile, FileCoin is an official currency developed for the IPFS protocol, currently in development.\n\nIPFS is stable, awesome, but also imperfect\n\nAs I mentioned, IPFS is based on a mature technology known as BitTorrent. It doesn’t drastically alter BitTorrent’s core technology, and in theory is compatible with existing BitTorrent software (although it hasn’t implemented that in practice).\n\nIPFS’s biggest innovation is using DAGs to organize data into a collection of seed files, thus building an organization system out of file systems. The fact that the hash paths that IPFS uses have an infinitely large namespace means that hypothetically, everyone in the world can put all of their files in the same file system. This gives rise to the “interplanetary” aspect of IPFS’s namesake.\n\nIPFS’s second biggest innovation is the idea of DWeb (distributed web). Our internet today is built with the HTTP protocol. HTTP is a centralized data delivery framework. This leads to lots of wasted bandwidth, and an overreliance on major global networks. This also makes it easier for some countries to exert more control over their internet, and for some hacker groups and individuals to achieve their goals (*cough* DDoS *cough*). In comparison, IPFS Web is a P2P node network with no designated server.\n\nCaveats to IPFS\n\n1. IPFS’s ecosystem lacks an incentive to ensure operational nodes\n\nIPFS itself is just a technology protocol. Without an appropriate ecosystem and incentive structure, the technology is moot and cannot realize its true potential.\n\n2. DWeb is hard to actualize\n\nAs of today, we don’t have a promise that Web browsers will support IPFS. There has been discussion about using IPFS_API to connect to designated nodes, but all the advantages put forth so far are incomplete and self-inconsistent. More importantly, this proposed workaround by connecting to a designated node reduces the whole system to a centralized system once again.\n\nThe potential for innovation and imagination with IPFS has garnered much attention around the globe, with many people trying to help it overcome its biggest obstacles. The Hero Node project and IPFS’s official FileCoin project are just two such examples. At this point, let me remind us that IPFS itself is just a technology protocol, which means the protocol poses no risk of failure. However, I will discuss how FileCoin may fail.\n\nWhat you may have misunderstood about PoSt/PoRep consensus protocols\n\nWhen talking about PoRep (Proof-of-Replication) and PoSt (Proof-of-Spacetime), the two main consensus protocols for FileCoin, I’d still like to see some comprehensive papers that fully examine their every benefit and risk. As of now I have yet to see any such comprehensive writeup.\n\nLet’s first consider PoRep. It is a form of PoS (Proof-of-Stake). This means it cannot be a network-wide authentication method, as a network-wide authentication method requires everyone in the network own the file. In reality, this is unfeasible or economically untenable.\n\nAccording to FileCoin’s white paper, PoRep is an market, which means you need to have customers paying to store their files, in order for mining to happen. Conversely, suppose everyone rushed in excitedly to mine FileCoin — would that actually benefit anyone?\n\nNow let’s consider PoSt. Slick name branding aside, simply put it means that you pay to store data, and you pay to access data. So again, it is an market. To say the 90% of its currency is reserved for mining is equivalent to saying the 90% of its currency is waiting to be sold. This is different from how mining Bitcoin or Ethereum works. I suspect, even guarantee, that mining in such a protocol won’t generate any returns.\n\nAn overly complex structure\n\nFileCoin’s consensus algorithm is highly complicated. I spent many moons studying it and still struggled to get to its bottom. Perhaps it is because its architects instilled in it their vast ambition, or maybe it is because the market placed it in high regard. Either way, FileCoin can’t shed its sophisticated, complex image. However, advanced does not have to mean complex. Oftentimes, the simpler things are the ones that are quickly accepted by the market.\n\nThe Bitcoin whitepaper looks simple on the surface. The encryption algorithm enables immutability, PoW (Proof-of-Work) protocol ensures only a single ledger exists, and UTXO allows the ledger to be authenticated.\n\nFileCoin attempts to build a bridge with every blockchain, to satisfy the market’s vast fantasy and imagination at the word “blockchain”. To say this is ambitious is an understatement, but also hints at a fatal flaw from the start. Cross-chain technology is a very hot technical area these days, but I think that just reflects a hype from venture capital. From a technical standpoint, this technology is nigh impossible.\n\nOverly complicated mining design and imbalanced incentives make an inefficient system\n\nAside from the technical complexities, FileCoin’s ecosystem is also exponentially more complex than other blockchain projects. Miners are split into mining the replication market and the retrieval market. Add consumers and investors to the picture, self-regulating this ecosystem may prove to be difficult or self-consistent. Additionally, consumer perceptions may lead to legal disputes in the event of lost data.\n\nFileCoin does not provide a free storage protocol, which means a high barrier to user entry. FileCoin also does not guarantee eternal storage. Once FIL (FileCoin) is fully spent, data loss will begin. This is inconsistent with the idea of eternal storage shepherded by blockchain. The problem arises from the fact that FileCoin is in itself a market, and not a community with a balanced rewards structure. Most blockchain evangelists lose faith in FileCoin once they realize this fact.\n\nTargeted towards a niche market\n\nWhen we first encounter IPFS and DWeb, we may think FileCoin can be used to power the distribution of Web data, and the sharing of streaming media. But once you take a closer look at the white paper, you realize that these are not FileCoin’s market goals. It charges consumers for retrieving data, while Web users and streaming media users won’t want to pay extra for their bandwidth usage. FileCoin is only tailored for the private cloud storage market, which is far too niche of a market.\n\nHow is Hero Node any different?\n\nHere are Hero Node’s responses to the two major issues hampering IPFS:\n\nIssue 1: IPFS’s ecosystem lacks an incentive to ensure operational nodes\n\nHero Node is set up so that users are encouraged to operate Hero Node nodes (which have built-in IPFS nodes), thus providing public storage services for applications, and earning automatically created tokens from the system. We will shortly discuss why these tokens are automatically generated and not paid by the application developers.\n\nApplication developers can publish their application onto the node network for free. Only when they want to make their application gain broader distribution, do they have to lock in more tokens to smart contracts. The more commercially successful an application is, the more token it needs to have locked in. This gives us a constructive incentive structure, where everyone in the community has their interests aligned.\n\nIssue 2: DWeb is hard to actualize\n\nHero Node’s applications are distributed applications (DApps), and not DWeb, so it has no browser constraints. This enables IPFS to truly replace HTTP. While it is true that Web is a very mainstream application format, Hero Node itself is also a node network. So even in a Web environment, the vast number of Hero Node nodes connected via IPFS_API ensures that we have full decentralization. The only caveat is benefits of CDN are not fully brought out.\n\nWhat’s Hero Node’s answer to FileCoin’s problems?\n\n1. Hero Node breaks its technology into three steps, and avoids setting overly lofty goals that are unattainable in the short run\n\nStep 1 — Get the ball rolling now\n\nEven without a currency system in place to create incentives, early investors and crowdfunding efforts will provide resources to support the deployment of official nodes. This enables Hero Node’s decentralized DApps to quickly start running on the network\n\nStep 2 — Node-based rewards structure\n\nExternal miners can join the action by operating their own nodes, but at the moment the currency used is still ERC20, the Ethereum token standard. Smart contracts will be used to reward node contributors.\n\nStep 3 — Engage the community\n\nWe are in researching consensus algorithms based on Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Capacity, which will be used to validate the quality of public sync services and the efficiency of IPFS storage provided by nodes. Our HNC token reserved for mining is directly issued to miners via consensus, and not paid out by the application developer.\n\n2. Hero Node seeks to simplify the framework design of technology, and offer a flexible value proposition\n\nIn Hero Node, the number of tokens miners receive is regularly decreasing, and independent of the token’s market value, market sentiment, or any other external factors. Application developers don’t need to spend tokens to use network resources; they just need to lock in tokens to increase the distribution of applications that bear their signature. This increase of distribution is also probabilistically determined by programs. On a macro level, the probabilistic aspect of these programs injects an element of fairness and flexibility into the system.\n\n3. Hero Node’s market is aimed at all internet application developers\n\nDevelopers can develop any application, and Hero Node’s potential target industries include cloud computing, cloud storage, CDN, app stores, advertising, and more.\n\nMoreover, Hero Node integrates IPFS across many different public blockchains, to create a fully decentralized DWeb. It then layers on cross-platform development technology to turn DWeb into DApp, fully bringing out IPFS’s advantages and greatly improving user experience. Finally, Hero Node uses the power of node networks and the general community to make sure DApps stay online forever.\n\nHero Node is introducing an authentic, easy-to-use, eternal DApp\n\nForget FileCoin, because Hero Node is going to be the Player One of IPFS\n\nWait, you’re still here?
