      "body": "This appeared in my inbox the other day and I believe it is simply too good not to share.\n\nThis series of short and simple advice represents the basic principles for anybody who seeks mental peace.\nAfter traveling through Africa and Asia, G.I. Gurdjieff arrived in Russia in the year 1912, bringing with him teachings that were neither a religion nor a philosophy, but practical lessons that had to be experienced. And since this was not the path of the fakir, the monk or the yogi, he named his teachings the “Fourth Way”.\nAccording to Gurdjieff, the evolution of humankind has entered an uncertain phase, and unless the “wisdom” of the Orient and the “energy” of the West come together and mutually feed each other, the world will inevitably collapse. His legacy of formidable teachings is one of the wisest and most adaptable for our contemporary lifestyle.\nThe following is a list of advice he wrote for his daughter Duska Howard. However, anyone who wishes to awake his consciousness and develop a more integral and satisfactory life, will appreciate it. This list is also, and above all, a cluster of concise recommendations that could help us to lucidly transcend daily situations, reminding us that integrity is far easier than we think. Gurdjieff’s councils allude to hard work, nourishment, human passions and emotions, cynicism and generosity, and together they comprise a sort of manifesto, one which would be wise to read every morning.\n1. Fix your attention on yourself, be aware at every moment of what you think, feel, want and do.\n2. Always finish what you started.\n3. Do what you are doing as best as possible.\n4. Do not be chained to anything that in the long run can destroy you.\n5. Develop your generosity without witnesses.\n6. Treat every person as a close relative.\n7. You must order what is disordered.\n8. Learn to receive and be grateful for each gift.\n9. Stop defining yourself.\n10. Do not lie, do not steal, for if you do, you lie and steal from yourself.\n11. Help your neighbor without doing making them depend on you.\n12. Do not wish to be imitated.\n13. Make plans and see them through.\n14. Do not take up too much space.\n15. Do not make unnecessary noises or gestures.\n16. If you do not have faith, act as if you do.\n17. Do not be impressed by strong personalities.\n18. Do not appropriate anything or anyone.\n19. Distributed equally.\n20. Do not seduce.\n21. You must only eat and sleep as much as is necessary.\n22. Do not discuss your personal problems.\n23. Do not pass judgments or criticize when you do not know all the facts.\n24. Do not have useless friendships.\n25. Do not follow fads.\n26. Do not sell yourself.\n27. Respect the contracts you have signed\n28. Be punctual.\n29. Do not envy others’ property or goods.\n30. Speak only what is necessary.\n31. Do not think of the benefits that your work will bring.\n32. Never threaten.\n33. Follow through with your promises.\n34. In an argument, put yourself in the place of the other.\n35. Accept when someone is better than you.\n36. Do not eliminate, transform.\n37. Defeat your fears; each one of them is a desire that is camouflaged.\n38. Help the other help themselves.\n39. Put an end to your antipathy and get closer to people that you want to reject.\n40. Do not react when they speak well or ill of you.\n41. Transform your pride into dignity.\n42. Turn your anger into creativity.\n43. Transform your greed into respect for the beauty.\n44. Transform your envy into the admiration for the values of others.\n45. Transform your hate into charity.\n46. Do not praise nor insult yourself.\n47. Treat the things that do not belong to you as if they did.\n48. Do not complain.\n49. Develop your imagination.\n50. Do not give orders for the pleasure of being obeyed.\n51. Pay for the services you are given.\n52. Do not boast about your work or ideas.\n53. Do not try to arouse emotions like pity, admiration, sympathy and complicity in others.\n54. Do not try to distinguish yourself by your appearance.\n55. Never contradict, just be silent.\n56. Do not fall in debt, buy and pay immediately.\n57. If you offend someone, ask for forgiveness.\n58. If you have offended publicly apologize publicly.\n59. If you realize that you have said something wrong, accept your mistake and desist immediately.\n60. Do not defend your old ideas simply because it was you who said them.\n61. Do not keep useless objects.\n62. Do not embellish yourself with the ideas of others.\n63. Do not get pictures with celebrities.\n64. Be your own judge.\n65. Do not let your possessions define you.\n66. Never talk about yourself, without allowing yourself the possibility of changing.\n67. Accept that nothing is yours.\n68. When you are asked what you think about something or someone, mention only their qualities.\n69. When you fall ill, instead of hating this evil, consider it your teacher.\n70.       "body": "To my Son Alex on his 17th Birthday\nDear Alex,\nYou are now at a fabulous stage of your life where you, and only you, are in 100% control of your future and what sort of life you will lead.\nYou will make choices every day of your life that will impact on your own happiness and the happiness of those around you that you love and who love you, which is your family and your friends.\nIn time you will find a wife and have a family of your own.  How happy this family becomes is also entirely up to you.  In fact just how and where you choose to live your life is now entirely up to you.\nNobody can tell you how to think or how to feel.  Those choices are yours alone.  \nI will be here for you as long as I can to give you any help and advice that I can, you can always rely on that.\nBut please don’t think that this means you will always be able to come to me to borrow money to get out of any trouble you may have got yourself into.\nThe reason we make mistakes in life, is so that we learn from them. While the audience is entranced, the deceptive act is committed, and for the fool, reality then becomes inexplicably built upon on a lie. That is, until the fool wakes up and recognizes the truth in the fact that he has been duped. \n\nMaintaining the suspension of disbelief in the illusion, however, is often more comforting than acknowledging the magician’s secrets. \n\nWe live in a world of illusion. So many of the concerns that occupy the mind and the tasks that fill the calendar arise from planted impulses to become someone or something that we are not. This is no accident. As we are indoctrinated into this authoritarian-corporate-consumer culture that now dominates the human race, we are trained that certain aspects of our society are untouchable truths, and that particular ways of being and behaving are preferred. \n \n\nPsychopaths disempower people in this way. They blind us with never ceasing barrages of suggestions and absolutes that are aimed at shattering self-confidence and confidence in the future. \n\nBansky, the revered and elusive revolutionary street artist, once commented: \n\n“People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you.” – Banksy\nAdvertising is just the tip of the iceberg. When we look further we see that the overall organization of life is centered around the pursuit of illusions and automatic obedience to institutions and ideas which are not at all what they seem. We are in a very real sense enslaved. Many call this somewhat intangible feeling of oppression ‘the matrix,’ a system of total control that invades the mind, programming individuals to pattern themselves in accordance with a mainstream conformist version of reality, no matter how wicked it gets. \n\nThe grandest of the illusions which keep us enslaved to the matrix, the ones that have so many of us still entranced, are outlined below for your consideration. \n\n1. The Illusion of Law, Order and Authority \n\nFor so many of us, following the law is considered a moral obligation, and many of us gladly do so even though corruption, scandal, and wickedness repeatedly demonstrate that the law is plenty flexible for those who have the muscle to bend it. Police brutality and police criminality is rampant in the US, the courts favor the wealthy, and we can longer even lead our lives privately thanks to the intrusion of state surveillance. And all the while the illegal and immoral Orwellian permanent war rages on in the background of life, murdering and destroying whole nations and cultures. \n\nThe social order is not what it seems, for it is entirely predicated on conformity, obedience and acquiescence which are enforced by fear of violence. History teaches us again and again that the law is just as often as not used as an instrument of oppression, social control and plunder, and any so-called authority in this regard is false, hypocritical, and unjust. \n\nWhen the law itself does not follow the law, there is no law, there is no order, and there is no justice. The pomp and trappings of authority are merely a concealment of the truth that the current world order is predicated on control, not consent. \n\n2. The Illusion of Prosperity and Happiness \n\nAdorning oneself in expensive clothes and trinkets, and amassing collections of material possessions that would be the envy of any 19th century monarch has become a substitute for genuine prosperity. Maintaining the illusion of prosperity, though, is critical to our economy as it is, because its foundation is built on consumption, fraud, credit and debt. The banking system itself has been engineered from the top down to create unlimited wealth for some while taxing the eternity out of the rest of us. \n\nTrue prosperity is a vibrant environment and an abundance of health, happiness, love, and relationships. As more people come to perceive material goods as the form of self-identification in this culture, we slip farther and farther away from the experience of true prosperity. \n\n3. The Illusion of Choice and Freedom \n\nRead between the lines and look at the fine print, we are not free, not by any intelligent standard. Freedom is about having choice, yet in today’s world, choice has come to mean a selection between available options, always from within the confines of a corrupt legal and taxation system and within the boundaries of culturally accepted and enforced norms. \n\nJust look no further than the phony institution of modern democracy to find a shining example of false choices appearing real. Two entrenched, corrupt, archaic political parties are paraded as the pride and hope of the nation, yet third party and independent voices are intentionally blocked, ridiculed and plowed under. \n\nThe illusion of choice and freedom is a powerful oppressor because it fools us into accepting chains and short leashes as though they were the hallmarks of liberty. \n\nMultiple choice is different than freedom, it is easy servitude. \n\n4. The Illusion of Truth \n\nTruth has become a touchy subject in our culture, and we’ve been programmed to believe that ‘the‘ truth comes from the demigods of media, celebrity, and government. If the TV declares something to be true, then we are heretics to believe otherwise. \n\nIn order to maintain order, the powers that be depend our acquiescence to their version of the truth. While independent thinkers and journalists continually blow holes in the official versions of reality, the illusion of truth is so very powerful that it takes a serious personal upheaval to shun the cognitive dissonance needed to function in a society that openly chases false realities. \n\n5. The Illusion of Time \n\nThey say that time is money, but this is a lie. Time is your life. Your life is an ever-evolving manifestation of the now. Looking beyond the five sense world, where we have been trained to move in accordance with the clock and the calendar, we find that the spirit is eternal, and that the each individual soul is part of this eternity. \n\nThe big deception here is the reinforcement of the idea that the present moment is of little to no value, that the past is something we cannot undo or ever forget, and that the future is intrinsically more important than both the past and the present. This carries our attention away from what it actually happening right now and directs it toward the future. Once completely focused on what is to come rather than what is, we are easy prey to advertisers and fear-pimps who muddy our vision of the future with every possible worry and concern imaginable. \n\nWe are happiest when life doesn’t box us in, when spontaneity and randomness gives us the chance to find out more about ourselves. Forfeiting the present moment in order to fantasize about the future is a trap. The immense, timeless moments of spiritual joy that are found in quiet meditation are proof that time is a construct of the mind of humankind, and not necessarily mandatory for the human experience. \n\nIf time is money, then life can be measured in dollars. When dollars are worth less, so is life. This is total deception, because life is, in truth, absolutely priceless. \n\n6. The Illusion of Separateness \n\nOn a strategic level, the tactic of divide and conquer is standard operating procedure for authoritarians and invading armies, but the illusion of separateness runs even deeper than this. \n\nWe are programmed to believe that as individuals we are in competition with everyone and everything around us, including our neighbors and even mother nature. Us vs. them to the extreme. This flatly denies the truth that life on this planet is infinitely inter-connected. Without clean air, clean water, healthy soil, and a vibrant global sense of community we cannot survive here. \n\nWhile the illusion of separateness comforts us by gratifying the ego and and offering a sense of control, in reality it only serves to enslave and isolate us. \n\nConclusion \n\nThe grand illusions mentioned here have been staged before us as a campaign to encourage blind acquiescence to the machinations of the matrix. In an attempt to dis-empower us, they demand our conformity and obedience, but we must not forget that all of this is merely an elaborate sales pitch. They can’t sell what we don’t care to buy.",

      "body": "Firstly, and to introduce myself, I am now in the 7th decade of my long and very interesting life, and as I am certainly not a conformist of any shape or form, Thao, my beautiful young Vietnamese bride, and I have just welcomed the arrival of our son Liam, born on 31st May, 2016.  That is my 3rd son, her 2nd and our 4th. So I am truly blessed and somewhat challenged as to how to both harness my creativity and provide for this amazing new life form that has entrusted himself to our care.\n \nI have lived and worked in many countries and cultures and have visited many, many more.  My main blessing in this life is to have been born with an unquenchable enthusiasm and zest for life and a great desire to extract the very most from this profound existence.\n\nOn my journey, the two main things that I continually notice and that have irked me all my life is that it is apparent that the vast majority of people simply DO NOT THINK and have a very poor grasp of the English language and grammar. That is they are incapable of having an original thought and then succinctly transcribing that thought to paper (Please note that I am only addressing English speaking people here as that is the only language I am proficient in!).\n\nThey do THINK that they are THINKING, but what is really happening is that they are simply regurgitating the ideas and opinions installed in them by the programming of the \"Educational System\" and Mass Media, which (unless you live in a cave) you would know is totally controlled by the so called “ruling elite”.\n\nThis same ruling elite use the Problem/Reaction/Solution mind control techniques to move society in the direction that suits their globalist agendas. \n\nThe proliferation of false-flag attacks that have led to unending war is all part of this. \n\nThe accepted statistic is that people have about 60,000 thought a day.  The problem is that these are the same thoughts that they had yesterday and the day before, will have tomorrow and the day after, ad infinitum.  They watch the evening news which could be re-titled \" It's 5 pm and now we are going to tell you what to think.\n\nFortunately I was born with an insatiable curiosity and have QUESTIONED everything in my life.  However, and especially as I am becoming more and more awakened to the evil corruption that stalks this sphere of existence and the irreparable damage being inflicted on both the environment and the human population in the name of never ending growth and profits, I am now questioning things that I have previously held to be core beliefs but which I now recognise have actually been implanted in me by the self-same system of programming that I have unknowingly allowed myself to be subjected to and influenced by.\n\nMy current daily challenge to myself is to try to have at least one ORIGINAL THOUGHT, every day that can help to engender the change we so desperately need in the world.  That is, to become the change I want to see in the world.  The difficulty with this is that even though we (Humanity) profess, as a species, to understand the Universe, the Human Body, Nature and all of its’ wonders, we still have no real idea (and certainly no proof!) where thoughts actually originate or how we can possibly influence their coming into being.\n\nA year ago I had a profound spiritual experience that changed my entire outlook on life, my whole belief system, the direction my life was heading in and my relationship with myself and everyone else I come into contact with.\nI was incredibly fortunate to be invited to a healing ceremony with a South American Shaman who, by using 5-MeO-DMT, opened my eyes and my soul to the truth that we (humans) and all other life forms (both plant and animal) and all inanimate matter are all expressions of the same consciousness and that LOVE is the single most potent force that exists.  \n\nI actually attended two of these healing ceremonies because, having experienced it myself and the profound insights it led me to, I then took my two grown sons to the second one; as an experience as profound as this simply had to be shared with my nearest and dearest.  (Unfortunately, there was no way that I could not entice my wife to experience it as she saw it as indulging in illicit drugs).\n\nBut what became undeniably clear to me during this healing process (call it a detox of the brain if you like) is that our thoughts originate outside of us, somewhere and somehow within this “field of consciousness” and we “download” them for our individual use.\n\nIf you liken your brain to a radio tuner, then you will only receive transmissions of thought that you are “tuned” into.\n\nIf a truly fantastic idea happens to come your way and you are not tuned in to receive it, it will simply pass on to someone else.\n\nSo, if you are wallowing in a pit of self-pity and medicating yourself with alcohol or other drugs, your chances of receiving an inspiring thought that can re-set the future direction of humanity is non-existent.\nAlternatively, you can immerse yourself in Nature, spend time meditating, and cleanse your body of the incessant flow of toxins that modern life delivers to us in our food, water, the products we use to clean our homes and bodies and even in the air that we breathe.\nThis will effectively raise your frequency and, if you can get your ego to get out of the way, will allow inspirational thoughts to flow your way.\nMy simple prayer is that if enough people can WAKE UP, and really start to think, rather than simply existing as wage slaves serving the needs of the elite, then we can create the profound change that is so desperately needed to free this world and divert it from its’ self-destructive path.\nWithout Nature, we cannot exist, as we cannot eat Money, and we cannot soothe our souls with mass media entertainment or social media.\nWe need to STOP and truly THINK!",
