      "body": "My 2018 Resolutions\n\nI've been watching way too many YouTube videos over the past week or so. (Hence my last post about YouTube drama) I've been pretty sick for almost two weeks now and it's putting a bit of a damper into my New Year’s resolution to start my year off to a good start. \nI’m starting my last semester of college, I’m looking forward to graduating and moving on to the next chapter of my life or the “real world.” Maybe I’m naive, but I have some time to figure some stuff out. \n\n![IMG_7679.JPG](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQqfzu3dkLA7QPMiBmGCd8ZtAGXFDQxYymTPSnX87tG97/IMG_7679.JPG)\n\nI realize the position I'm in now is the most relaxed and responsibility-free that my life will ever be. My family helps me with rent, and I have loans for my tuition. So I will eventually pay back my loans myself as well as my own bills, but as of now I don’t have to pay any bills. I am very fortunate that it is that way. \n\nAcknowledging this, I wanted to make my last semester the most focused and productive semester yet. From my time watching way too much YouTube, I have watched so many “morning routine” or “day in my life” videos of very pretty women showing the internet how productive their days are with fabulous editing skills. Needless to say, I’m a fan. I aspire to have a routine, to feel productive in a day simply by following my schedule and waking up at the right time and eating a good breakfast. \n\nHere’s a good example of a typical morning routine video. Complete with uplifting music, positivity, and a voice over. In 2018 and when I have a busy schedule and life I want to incorporate this! If I have good habits now, it will transfer over to when I am a “real” adult and start my career. \n\nHere’s a list of my resolutions:\n\n+ Be busy! I’ll be doing at least 15-20 hours a week working on campus and 15 credit hours! I should be able to meet this goal. \n\n+ Stay organized \n\n+ Be intentional. I've seen this word used a lot in positivity videos, and for me, it's more than just a buzzword. This word is a good way of breaking some bad habits that I have like spending hours on the internet, procrastinating, not eating the right foods etc. If I’m intentional on breaking the habit, it will be easier to replace bad habits with good ones. \n\n+ Try meditation in the morning. In many of the videos I watch this looks like a good way to get yourself into a good mindset for the day. \n\n+ Write down 3 things I’m grateful for everyday. \n\n+ Meal prep my lunches for 3 days out of the week (for my busiest days) \n\n+ Pay less for on campus parking (walk!) \n\n+ Keep myself healthy! (No more sickness!) My mom recently told me that she hasn't been majorly ill since I was 15 months old! She's doing something right.  \n\n+ Go to the gym at least 3 times a week! I always have an issue going to the gym during the school year because of how much of a hassle it is! You have to pay for parking on campus until 4 pm and the parking lot is far from the gym.. It's just a pain for someone who is already not motivated.. But I'm planning on finding a way to make it easier! \n\n+ Wake up earlier and not rush! \n\n+ Work on my friendships and plan more time to hang out. I’ve been a little bit in hermit mode in my last year of school and I want to change that! \n\n+ Go out and do stuff on weekends!\n\nResolutions from 2017 that I have kept:\n\n+ Making bed every day \n\n+ Keeping a planner during school\n\n+ Drink 2 liters of water a day \n\n+ Cut back scrolling mindlessly on my phone. I have an app that tracks how much time I spend on my phone called Moment. It has helped a lot!",

      "body": "I'm sure if you spend some time on YouTube you have seen the drama that unfolded about a few weeks ago about Logan Paul and his recent trip to Japan... There has been a lot of videos and a lot of people are talking about this... \n\nIf you don't know who Logan Paul is- he is one of the top trending YouTubers on the platform right now. To be honest, I don't know what he does, except for make very loud and obnoxious vlogs. His YouTube channel has 15 million subscribers and his content in his videos seem to be to shock and to try to be the BIGGEST and the LOUDEST and to plug his merchandise whenever he can. His brother is similar, making vlogs and doing crazy stunts and harassing people in public for video content.  I knew about both of them from Vine (RIP)  but I have never watched their YouTube videos when they switched over. So here’s a good summary of the whole drama on Philip DeFranco's channel: \n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAyvEft9MIs&t=773s\n\nBasic Text Summary:  Logan Paul went to Japan's \"Suicide Forest\" and went off trail and found someone who had committed suicide and decided to film it  and put it in the vlog, dead body and all. It was top trending on YouTube and even got 6 million views before the backlash caused him to remove the video. \n\nI decided that for this post I wouldn't focus on how disgusting it was that he did that. Or why we even thought it was ok to even include the image of the body in the thumbnail of the video. (Really?) \nSo many people on Twitter and YouTube have already heavily criticized him. It caused HUGE backlash and even Logan Paul put out an apology video. (Some people say it was sincere, some say it wasn't) and I’m not to sure to be honest. \n\nLike Jenna and Julien said in their recent podcast-  \"a lot of stuff about this topic has already been talked about.\"\nHere’s a link to their podcast: \nIt's a bit long, but I think the first 13 minutes are important. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u31uorMMi-g\n\nSomething that was mentioned in this podcast and on Reina Scully's YouTube channel was the fact that Logan didn't see Japanese people as \"real people\" and viewed Japan as a \"cartoon culture\" and therefore didn't see it as a big deal to film a dead person from that country. Honestly, I have never cringed so hard in my life. From living in Japan for nearly 6 months, it's extremely hard to watch an American be the exact thing that we’re stereotyped for abroad.  Obnoxious, oblivious to the culture, disruptive and overall disrespectful to the culture. He’s all about the views, and if he runs around and does crazy things in L.A to get views, he's definitely going to do it in Japan. It's all the same to him.       "body": "I'm sure if you spend some time on YouTube you have seen the drama that unfolded about a few weeks ago about Logan Paul and his recent trip to Japan... There has been a lot of videos and a lot of people are talking about this... \n\nIf you don't know who Logan Paul is- he is one of the top trending YouTubers on the platform right now. To be honest, I don't know what he does, except for make very loud and obnoxious vlogs. His YouTube channel has 15 million subscribers and his content in his videos seem to be to shock and to try to be the BIGGEST and the LOUDEST and to plug his merchandise whenever he can. His brother is similar, making vlogs and doing crazy stunts and harassing people in public for video content.  I knew about both of them from Vine (RIP)  but I have never watched their YouTube videos when they switched over. So here’s a good summary of the whole drama on Philip DeFranco's channel: \n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAyvEft9MIs&t=773s\n\nBasic Text Summary:  Logan Paul went to Japan's \"Suicide Forest\" and went off trail and found someone who had committed suicide and decided to film it  and put it in the vlog, dead body and all. It was top trending on YouTube and even got 6 million views before the backlash caused him to remove the video. \n\nI decided that for this post I wouldn't focus on how disgusting it was that he did that. Or why we even thought it was ok to even include the image of the body in the thumbnail of the video. (Really?) \nSo many people on Twitter and YouTube have already heavily criticized him. It caused HUGE backlash and even Logan Paul put out an apology video. (Some people say it was sincere, some say it wasn't) and I’m not to sure to be honest. \n\nLike Jenna and Julien said in their recent podcast-  \"a lot of stuff about this topic has already been talked about.\"\nHere’s a link to their podcast: \nIt's a bit long, but I think the first 13 minutes are important. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u31uorMMi-g\n\nSomething that was mentioned in this podcast and on Reina Scully's YouTube channel was the fact that Logan didn't see Japanese people as \"real people\" and viewed Japan as a \"cartoon culture\" and therefore didn't see it as a big deal to film a dead person from that country. Honestly, I have never cringed so hard in my life. From living in Japan for nearly 6 months, it's extremely hard to watch an American be the exact thing that we’re stereotyped for abroad.  Obnoxious, oblivious to the culture, disruptive and overall disrespectful to the culture. There is a cultural norm of respect and not inconveniencing others. Being loud on the train is a faux pas, and causing a scene ANYWHERE in public is extremely off putting and even considered rude. I remember after being there for a while, that I would become offended and glare at any tourists who were yelling to each other across the train car, or if people were being loud and drunk on the streets and falling  into random people… in Japan, you just DON’T do that. \n\n![Cm60h6iVYAI7dnG.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmZ6xeSBG3xCRfBFg9rcGVMVCkp1wVbeESnaC4vPzGCS8q/Cm60h6iVYAI7dnG.jpg)\n\nAnother thing that really bothered me about Logan Paul’s vlogs in Japan was that he didn't seem to care that he was in a foreign country. He didn't seem at all excited to simply be in a country so different from the U.S, there was no appreciation for the culture, the history, and especially not the people. He’s all about the views, and if he runs around and does crazy things in L.A to get views, he's definitely going to do it in Japan. It's all the same to him.
