      "body": "Intolerable Cruelty is fun and even manages to deliver a surprise plot twist. \n\nFirst of all, George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones's characters, Miles Massey and Marylin Rexroth have great chemistry and clearly lust each other on-screen. Their witty exchanges and silly trial cases are much fun to watch. The plot twist was greatly appreciated and very necessary. Without it, this movie would have been another frivolous rom-com with great leads but subpar stories. My only complaint with this movie is its confusing explanation of what a prenuptial agreement is. Those who are not familiar with this concept will be lost for major turning points in the movie. Personally, I didn't understand the meaning of ripping up a prenuptial agreement. Specifically, during the ending scene, I wasn't sure if ripping up the agreement was a sign of trust or distrust. Obviously, the context afterward helped to fill in the gaps, but I think they could have simplified it more.       "title": "The Truman Show",
      "body": "The Truman Show is a masterpiece. \n\nWhilst rated as PG, it's thought-provoking, touching on playing God and free will. Jim Carrey's sensitive and delicate performance skillfully shows the unraveling of this utopia that Truman initially finds himself in. The slow and gradual reveal to the audience that Truman is in a show is gracefully hinted at with small details: the interviews at the beginning, the director talking to the actors within the fake city, the artificial repetition of actions, the list goes on. There's a saying to show, don't tell and this movie does just that. There's this heart-wrenching moment that not only openly reveals that Truman is in a show, but also shows that his relationships are fake. Truman's \"best friend\", Marlon, is told to promise he would never lie to Truman whilst lying to him. It was clear that Marlon felt internal conflict on whether or not to follow through with the lines, but decided to break that trust for the show. \n\nThe director, Christoff, played by Ed Harris, was also well-acted, playing the role of God and father to Truman. It's evident that Christoff cares about Truman but is also willing to play the role of angry, punitive God when his \"child\" disobeys, specifically at the ending scene before Truman leaves. The last lines that Truman says are perfect: he rejects the world that Christoff created for him by spitting back the words he was conditioned to say for the show. \n\nOverall, the Truman Show is a miraculous movie!\n\n\n\n![truman-show-quad-poster.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmS9VFU4YzWXdqsJgd2sxjwzb4kUvJJPEajgo4ZJdRw49J/truman-show-quad-poster.jpg)",

The best thing about this movie is that even the audience is left out of the whole plan but is completely caught up by the end of the movie. What's more, unlike many other heist films, Ocean's Eleven takes the time to introduce each character, their background, and their skill set. They also present a nice and clear plotline that is straightforward but complex. That's the true beauty. When you know what's going on despite the chaos. This all-star cast doesn't waste a single bit of their skill, each character has a specific personality and is brought to life by each actor/actress. \n\nMy only issue with this movie is regarding Julia Roberts's character. Supposedly Tess Ocean separated from Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney because his last heist failed, he was arrested, and he left her for several years. So when she suddenly splits with Terry Benedict, the owner of the Bellagio Casino, and gets back with Danny Ocean, it's not believable. The only impetus for her to leave Terry AND get back with Danny is because Terry doesn't value her. However, this doesn't justify why she should immediately choose Danny. He abandoned her for several years and came out of jail to literally buy back her love. It's a bit weak. And overall this film doesn't do much justice to women with its majority male cast. \n\nIf you're just looking for a fun movie to watch, I highly recommend watching Ocean's Eleven.",

      "body": "Always Be My Maybe does a good job balancing rom-com tropes and accurately portraying Asian American culture. Everyone knows that Sasha Tran, played by Ali Wong, and Marcus Kim, played by Randall Park, are going to get together at the end, but the conflict was well-developed and hilarious, especially with the addition of Keanu Reeves as a haughty and presumptuous star. Marcus's fear of leaving the familiar and reaching for the unknown is nicely set up by his dependence on his dad, living in his childhood bedroom, and his unwillingness to switch where his band performed. It wasn't surprising that he was afraid to move to New York with Sasha when she needed to return. All the characters experience growth and change throughout the movie, which always makes the movie more satisfying and meaningful.       "body": "The Half of It had a lot of potentials to be one of the best rom-com out there. It had a great storyline and great characters, but it threw everything away towards the 2nd half of the film. Let's first talk about the opportunity it threw away. With an intriguing and novel plotline, it had so many different ways that it could end: the boy gets the girl, the girl gets the girl, or no one gets the girl. But on its way to the ending, it messed up the main conflict. When Paul Munsky, played by Daniel Diemer, finds out that Ellie Chu, played by Leah Lewis, is gay he suddenly becomes homophobic and shuns her. Throughout the beginning half of the movie, nothing made it apparent that Paul was homophobic or that the church and faith were such a big part of his life. In fact, there were times when he questioned if God existed and didn't properly abide by the Christian rules. This incident was random and wholly underdeveloped. Another severely underdeveloped character is Aster Flores, played by Alexxis Lemire. Instead of having her own backstory and personality, she simply becomes \"the love interest\". Just another pretty face. They should have included her internal conflict with her faith and her attraction toward Paul. Overall, if the movie should have focused on religion as the major instigator of conflict this movie would have flowed much more smoothly.\n\nWhat I liked about this movie was that we finally have another movie that portrays not only an LGBT but an Asian American LGBT character. This story also skims the top of important issues regarding religion and sexuality, and how homosexuality is portrayed as a sin. This is a theme that isn't touched on in many modern rom-com and I'm glad that this film at least attempted to do so. Additionally, the genuine friendship between Paul and Ellie. He clearly isn't there to just exploit her talent for writing: he defends her from bullies and they have a real bond. Although I take issue with the two other main characters, Leah Lewis really sells Ellie. The delicate moments when they are texting each other and when they are floating in the pond are pretty authentic. However, that should not be an excuse for not explaining character relations and history. I don't understand why Nice would stay behind to defend Waikiki because I don't know what their history. Because this movie focused more on relationships, development of characters, and criticizing greed and excess, the result was less action and urgency overall. The movie drags itself on 2 hour and 31 min without giving a satisfying reason as to why the world needs Wonder Woman.\n\nSince WW 1984 was more character rather than action driven, this film demanded more from her portrayal of Diana Prince. Gal Gadot, although disarmingly gorgeous, struggled to present Diana Prince in a more complex and multi-faceted light. Especially in the opening scenes, her character was clearly melancholy but nothing else. Her performance wasn't as authentic or moving compared to original. In the first film, she played Diana Prince terrifically: she had the drive, the anger, the wonder, and the vulnerability. But in this film, her character seems to lack the driven and headstrong personality she had in the first. In fact, her character occasionally seems bossy instead of assertive.\n\nHowever, I do believe that both she and Kristen Wigg's quality of acting was restricted by their stereotypical characters: one seems to have it all and the other not at all. This unrealistic, Hollywood portrayal that everything is this or that, never this and that, makes their characters unbelievable and shallow. Unfortunately, this false dichotomy is essential to driving the film's plot.\n\nHonestly, I think either Chris Pine and Pedro Pascal sold their characters the best. Chris Pine provided some duly needed emotional expressivity that Gal Gadot lacked. But since English isn't even her first language, I'm going to cut her some slack.\n\nOverall, I was a little disappointed but it still might be fun to watch.",

      "body": "Despite being 27 years old, this movie is gold! \n\nSpeed was exciting and tense throughout, living up to being an action, adventure, and thriller film! The three subplots in this 1 hr and 56 min film were well developed and included harrowing stunts that gave the audience back to back action all the way to the end.\n\nThe bus plot, which is the major selling point for this film, was quite fresh and innovative. Confining the scene to a bus raised my expectations for the actors and actresses on the bus, however I think the film does a good job in portraying the tension between the passengers, the anxiety and then cathartic relief after they survive one obstacle after another, and the stress that Jack Traven, the Los Angeles Police Department officer, feels. The angry outburst Jack Traven has was a nice touch to the tough guy act.\n\nCompared to his acting in the Matrix film series, Keanu Reeves gives his character Jack Traven more emotion and charisma. Although he was a little aloof during his \"obligatory flirting\" with Sandra Bullock's character, Annie, I think Reeves sells the relationship a bit more towards the end.
