      "body": "Not all owners of classic cars think in the same way. Some prefer to keep them original (patina and minor issues), some completely restore them and some restore them and also do modifications. All three require the love and attention to detail of a classic car collector. No matter his preference the commitment, effort and knowledge associated with this very involved hobby is admirable.\n\nOriginal Vehicles\n\nAn original vehicle is one that has been maintained so well that it has all of its original factory specified parts. Their parts have been mostly fixed rather than replaced and if they had been replaced at one time it will have been with the original part intended for the model from the exact year of its introduction. To determine the originality of a classic, enthusiasts look for \"matching numbers\", serial numbers that are stamped on parts throughout the car that match each other and the number originally associated with the car in its year.\n\nPros and Cons\n\nOriginal vehicles are extremely hard to come by. To produce one takes the most time and money because the original parts are as rare as or more rare than the car itself. Because of the lack of availability of models and their parts, many car owner's claiming \"original\" are actually restored. A true original and a restored vehicle should look the same and nearly operate the same, but because of the difference in original parts vs. re-manufactured parts, the prestige and value of a true original is significantly higher. The value of the three types of vehicles fluctuates based on the changing demand of collectors just like many consumables, but original vehicles, even in their shabbiest appearances can sell for 35% more than their perfectly restored opponent, a reason why you'll find a lot of speculation on which route to take.\n\nRestored Vehicles\n\nRestored vehicles are made to look and drive like they did the day they were introduced to consumers. Their owners however, choose to replace parts with factory refurbished remakes of original parts. Using the original as inspiration, a car restorer will match the interior, parts and paint as closely to its glory days as possible.\n\nPros and Cons\n\nBecause restoration parts are easier to obtain and the restoration route creates more of its kind, this vehicle is less rare and often less valuable than an original. This is also the reason a collector can achieve results faster and perhaps joyride in his car sooner and for longer, a pro that's hard to argue if you're familiar with the work required of an original. As previously stated, the monetary value of a restored is less than an original in many cases, but there is value in having the most fun in your car and if that's a high priority for an owner than this is a fine choice!\n\nResto-mod Vehicles\n\nResto-mod is short for restored and modified. These vehicles are the furthest from originals. They are restored and often \"modernfied\" if you will. Some owners choose to enhance the engine, make it more fuel efficient, or add modern luxuries like a preferred sound system or safety features.\n\nPros and Cons\n\nThe sky is the limit for an owner with the freedom of modifications. He can build his dream car! Resell for these cars is difficult though and the return could be even less than was put in it so this is the biggest pit fall. The reward is grand and the risk too, is grand, but for many this is the perfect fit for them. The value of a restored and modified vehicle is very unpredictable because the vehicle has been tailored to its owner's specific tastes and he'd have to find a similar buyer, something to consider when choosing this method and while choosing each modification as well, if reselling is an area of importance at all.\n\nThe debate and judgment of this sector of cars will always be, keeping this art form alive and well, but one thing is certain; classic car owners love their cars and that's worthy of respect. After considerable research you'll find that each collector has to make their car collecting decisions based on his own lifestyle and what he plans to do with it, re-sell or enjoy. Judge a collector not by the category of his car, but how well it's been done and cared for.",

      "body": "I remember my fear about turning 40. I thought the gig was over, that men would no longer look at me and that my job prospects were dim at best. Last year I turned 50, and I wish I could say I accepted it with grace, but more with dread and sadness. Even though I don't have children, I'd become a grandma overnight. I still see myself as a young, vibrant women. However, a quick glance in the mirror (especially with fluorescent lighting) squashes any hopes of my seeing a dewy faced, ageless beauty.\n\nBut the fear is not just about looks, it's about getting closer to death. I used to hear people say from time to that life is not a dress rehearsal. But that's exactly how I lived my life, always waiting for something to happen, until then I would stay safe and cozy inside my comfort zone. \"One day I'll take those piano lessons.\" I know I will travel, soon.\" \"I would love to learn Spanish, but I'll do it later.\"\n\nYou get the picture. These things don't come unless you make them happen. And I'm now taking action and cultivating my passions and hobbies. For example, today I took a 20 bike ride, recently planted a garden, and I'm just about to sign up for tennis and voice lessons. These are things I always wanted to do. I'm no longer saying tomorrow... it's now.\n\nThe beauty of getting to be a half-century old is you no longer have to be in denial. Time is running out. You have no more to waste!\n\nThe fist step is to practice acceptance. Once you accomplish this you can move on and truly start living--maybe for the first time in your life. You can make it a wild, vibrant, exciting adventure. The trick is not to dwell on how you wish things were different.\n\nSo what is acceptance? You've heard the serenity prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. This is a very wise verse used in twelve step programs across the globe.\n\nThese words from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous sums it up nicely:\n\n\"And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation--some fact of my life--unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.\n\nThis is so true when it comes to the aging process. By going out and getting Botox shots, cosmetic procedures and body enhancements, you are in denial and only delaying what one day you will have to confront, an aging body that will enviably die. Until then you will cling to the complements you get when people say you don't look your age; crave those moments when people ask you what's your secret. But those comments just delay time, time you don't have if you want to evolve. You accept where you are in life and then the miracles can begin. You start building from a firm foundation that will carry you through the second chapter of your life.\n\nAs I gain more acceptance I witness myself being in the moment as opposed to the past and future. I do what I can in this second, a fresh creative time to explore and express what's inside. You don't have to worry about what people think about you. Your mission is to live the rest of your life as fully, genuinely and courageously as you can.\n\nWhen I think back on my youth I can honestly say I worried about the most absurd things mostly related to my looks and the need for the world to validate me. Yes, I was going out to conquer the world so that I would be important. I wore high heels, short skirts, tight pants and created drama wherever I went. I can honestly say I'm glad those days are gone. This is the time to be who we truly are, shed ourselves of all the outward pressures and expectations that so absorb the young, and become the women who no longer care what people think. It's time to show up and be seen, our next act, not a dress rehearsal.",
