      "body": "If you are struggling or frustrated because there is a child in your class that you don’t know how to help, this is a read that I hope may give you ideas, inspire you or reaffirm your role as a Teacher or Guide.\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYJTtSeprsND2o9Npou98p9EeDNq71Sqw2Bc2skQWdafx/image.png)\n\n\"Children Who Are Not Yet Peaceful\" is written by Donna Bryant Goertz.  It is a must read for anyone working directly with children or any school administrators.  In the book, Goertz describes her experiences in helping children to find peace in different levels or forms, through a Montessori environment where an inclusive community is formed.\n\n\n\nAs I read the book, I admired Goertz’ patience, observation skill, and insight.  The language she uses to speak to the children and to explain her thought processes is beautiful and inspiring.  I am always looking for Montessori role models to aspire to, and she is one I can put on my list!  I am in awe.\n\n\n\nTo a wider scope, Goertz' stories can cast a light on how we act in the world outside the classroom.  We label, make assumptions and react quickly instead of with thought and empathy. A utopian classroom or world is not created by inclusion, but rather one where individuals learn the emotional skills to negotiate, problem solve and cooperate in the daily crises that we experience as a part of humanity.\n\n\n\nThis is a book that I will read again,  take notes on, and read again.  Give me your suggestions for inspiring books.",

      "body": "Finally touching down in Paris was a dream come true.  I did all my pre-travel research on what I wanted to see, eat and do, as I’m sure you will do too. What are your expectations from the school?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Visa - Do you need a visa to work in that country? Will the employer help you with the process? Are the costs paid by you or the employer? Is this something you need to make a part of the contract?</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Culture - How adaptable are you?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Language - What languages are spoken in that country? Are you willing to learn another language?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Housing - There are cultural differences in housing expectations. What can you expect? Is housing a part of your contract? Can you see photos of the housing if it is provided? Will you have a roomate? If housing is not included, will the employer give you a housing allowance? What about utilities? Do you require air conditioning or internet? And will they help you to find housing (particularly helpful if you don’t speak the language)? What are the safe and most comfortable areas of town for you to live in? Is there a grocery store nearby?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Homesickness - Will you be okay without seeing your regular support system everyday? &nbsp;What kind of activities can you take part in during your off time? Are there local groups that may share your interests? Is there an expat community that you can get in touch with? Is there internet service to keep in contact with your support system?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Transportation - Is there transportation available between your residence and school? Is there transportation available for you to get around town?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Travel - Is the location easy to travel to other areas you may want to explore?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Cost of Living - What wage is reasonable for the cost of living in that area? Is that wage appropriate for your expected living costs abroad and home and for travel?&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Medical Care/Insurance - Do you have any pre-existing conditions that will require medical care while you are abroad? How will you meet those needs? Will you purchase medical insurance? Or will your employer include medical insurance in your contract?</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Feel free to share your thoughts on other considerations to make before heading abroad.&nbsp;</p>\n</html>",

Sometimes, when I feel bogged down by the stresses of the classroom, I find it helpful to find inspiration and motivation from others perspectives on the big picture. I find it fascinating to hear thoughts about the big questions, “Why are we here?” or “Is there a God?”.
