It seems simple and obvious, but like any abstraction, you have to put it in the context of your life before it becomes meaningful to you.\n\nThe principle says that everything is dual; everything has poles, its pair of opposites. Opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree. Furthermore, extremes meet, and all paradoxes may be reconciled.\n\nWithout unpacking these facets, they hold little meaning to us. They seem either obvious or nonsensical, depending on whether we already agree with them or fail to understand them. Either way, here are some of the infinite ways you can see this principle at play today:\n\nWe see something wrong with the world, and we try to understand it so we can improve our world. We identify an axis along which things seem unbalanced, and try to make adjustments along that axis in order to bring the whole into unity and balance. Once unity and balance have been achieved, we no longer need to orient ourselves along that axis. It's also confusing that we use the word \"immune\" to mean something closer to \"resistant\" in this context, when in other contexts that word often means something closer to \"exempt.\"\n\nBut I support your right to choose to have (or not have) yourself and your children vaccinated, and I won't reduce you to a label because of your choice. But I would recommend choosing carefully. Even if a vaccine doesn't prevent you from contracting an illness, it may help reduce the severity of the symptoms.
