| title | BITPAY: Bitcoin Could Hit $15-20K by End of 2019? |
| body | The Chief Commercial Officer (COO) of global crypto payment processor BitPay has ventured that Bitcoin (BTC) will hit $15,000 to $20,000 by the end of 2019. The COO, Sonny Singh, made his forecast during an interview with Bloomberg Nov. 22. In the midst of a bearish market picture – with Bitcoin down over 32 percent in value on the month – Singh said that he expects the next big price action to come when mainstream financial sector giants such as Fidelity and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) start to launch their crypto-based investment products next year. The financial giants’ entry into the space could catapult Bitcoin’s price to as high as $15,000-$20,000 by the end of 2019, Singh told reporters. Aside from traditional financial incumbents’ launch of crypto-based products, Singh pointed to structural changes in the crypto market itself, with stalwart companies such as U.S. crypto exchange and wallet provider Coinbase and crypto bank Silvergate gearing up for possible initial public offerings (IPOs). Singh forecast that next year would therefore herald an “exciting” moment: the launch of a crypto-based exchange-traded fund (ETF) by a “Blackrock-type” company or a Fidelity product will energize the space as traditional players jostle for market dominance against “the Bitpays and Coinbases” of the sector. Singh nonetheless drew a firm distinction between Bitcoin and altcoins, arguing that: “There’s a night and day difference between Bitcoin and everything else. Bitcoin is the under pound gorilla, it’s the one that has the mass network effect… [the one] the traditional financial incumbents are building products around. Other [crypto assets] […] I don’t know what’s going to happen to them.” Remarking that “the ICO market is pretty dead right now,” Singh also suggested that signs of increased intervention from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) does not bode well for the future of the token space. In an interview this September, Singh outlined a broadly similar argument that the crypto markets are on the threshold of a certain “defining moment,” which will come with big institutional investor market entry, set to “become real” in 2019. |

"title": "BITPAY: Bitcoin Could Hit $15-20K by End of 2019?",
"body": "The Chief Commercial Officer (COO) of global crypto payment processor BitPay has ventured that Bitcoin (BTC) will hit $15,000 to $20,000 by the end of 2019. The COO, Sonny Singh, made his forecast during an interview with Bloomberg Nov. 22.\n\nIn the midst of a bearish market picture – with Bitcoin down over 32 percent in value on the month – Singh said that he expects the next big price action to come when mainstream financial sector giants such as Fidelity and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) start to launch their crypto-based investment products next year.\n\nThe financial giants’ entry into the space could catapult Bitcoin’s price to as high as $15,000-$20,000 by the end of 2019, Singh told reporters.\n\nAside from traditional financial incumbents’ launch of crypto-based products, Singh pointed to structural changes in the crypto market itself, with stalwart companies such as U.S. crypto exchange and wallet provider Coinbase and crypto bank Silvergate gearing up for possible initial public offerings (IPOs).\n\nSingh forecast that next year would therefore herald an “exciting” moment: the launch of a crypto-based exchange-traded fund (ETF) by a “Blackrock-type” company or a Fidelity product will energize the space as traditional players jostle for market dominance against “the Bitpays and Coinbases” of the sector.\n\nSingh nonetheless drew a firm distinction between Bitcoin and altcoins, arguing that:\n\n“There’s a night and day difference between Bitcoin and everything else. Bitcoin is the under pound gorilla, it’s the one that has the mass network effect… [the one] the traditional financial incumbents are building products around. Other [crypto assets] […] I don’t know what’s going to happen to them.”\n\nRemarking that “the ICO market is pretty dead right now,” Singh also suggested that signs of increased intervention from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) does not bode well for the future of the token space.\n\nIn an interview this September, Singh outlined a broadly similar argument that the crypto markets are on the threshold of a certain “defining moment,” which will come with big institutional investor market entry, set to “become real” in 2019.",

| title | Stellar Edges out Bitcoin Cash from Number 4 Spot on Coinmarketcap |
| body | Users of Coinmarketcap.com have realized that the online platform has chosen to assign the original ticker of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to the ABC camp in the ongoing Hash Wars. Other platforms such as Binance, have opted to distinguish between the two camps by assigning BCHABC and BCHSV respectively. XLM Edges out BCH on Coinmarketcap With the above background explaining which Bitcoin Cash is currently being tracked on Coinmarketcap.com, we can continue to state the observation that Stellar (XLM) has edged out BCH from the number 4 spot. A screenshot has been provided below for a better visualization of the situation. Will XLM Hold On to the Number 4 Spot Doing the math, only $16.34 Million in market capitalization separate the two prominent digital assets. This amount is significantly small given that today the markets have dropped tremendously in value. We have BTC at $4,383 and the total market capitalization at new low levels of $141.9 Billion. What we can predict is the following two situations in the next few hours or days. Firstly, XLM might maintain the number 4 spot based on the fact that the crypto market looks set for further decline into the weekend. When such events occur, XLM and XRP have proven to be least affected by the current market turmoil. Therefore, it is highly probable that Stellar (XLM) will maintain the number 4 spot into the weekend. The second situation is where the market slightly recovers after the Thanksgiving holiday that was yesterday, the 22nd of November. One can argue that many traders who celebrate the holiday, were away from their trading monitors and more concerned with spending valuable time with their families than the price of BTC. Today being Friday, the traders might wake up and want to cash in on what Crypto Twitter has called the mother of all Black Friday Sales that is evident in the Crypto Markets. Every coin and token is between 70 and 90% discounted from their All Time High values. Leave your future predictions in the comments! |

| title | Will Bitcoin Survive From Itself? Hopefully.. |
| body | It’s time for bitcoin traders to batten down the hatches. The notoriously volatile cryptocurrency, whose 160 percent surge this year has captivated everyone from Wall Street bankers to Chinese grandmothers, could be headed for one of its most turbulent stretches yet. Blame the bitcoin civil war. After two years of largely behind-the-scenes bickering, rival factions of computer whizzes who play key roles in bitcoin’s upkeep are poised to adopt two competing software updates at the end of the month. That has raised the possibility that bitcoin will split in two, an unprecedented event that would send shockwaves through the $41 billion market. While both sides have big incentives to reach a consensus, bitcoin’s lack of a central authority has made compromise difficult. Even professional traders who’ve followed the dispute’s twists and turns aren’t sure how it will all pan out. Their advice: brace for volatility and be ready to act fast once a clear outcome emerges. “It’s a high-stakes game of chicken,” said Arthur Hayes, a former market maker at Citigroup Inc. who now runs BitMEX, a bitcoin derivatives venue in Hong Kong. “If you’re a trader, there’s a lot of uncertainty as to what happens. Once there’s a definitive signal about what will be done, the price could move very quickly.” (Detailed summary of key dates and potential outcomes at bottom.) Behind the conflict is an ideological split about bitcoin’s rightful identity. The community has bitterly argued whether the cryptocurrency should evolve to appeal to mainstream corporations and become more attractive to traditional capital, or fortify its position as a libertarian beacon; whether it should act more as an asset like gold, or as a payment system. The seeds of the debate were planted years ago: To protect from cyber attacks, bitcoin by design caps the amount of information on its network, called the blockchain. That puts a ceiling on how many transactions it can process -- the so-called block size limit -- just as the currency’s growing popularity is boosting activity. As a result, transaction times and processing fees have soared to record levels this year, curtailing bitcoin’s ability to process payments with the same efficiency as services like Visa Inc. To address this problem, two main schools of thought emerged. On one side are miners, who deploy costly computers to verify transactions and act as the backbone of the blockchain. They’re proposing a straightforward increase to the block size limit. On the other is Core, a group of developers instrumental in upholding bitcoin’s bug-proof software. They insist that to ease blockchain’s traffic jam, some of its data must be managed outside the main network. They claim that not only would it reduce congestion, but also allow other projects including smart contracts to be built on top of bitcoin. But moving data off the blockchain effectively diminishes the influence of miners, the majority of whom are based in China and who have invested millions on giant server farms. Not surprisingly, Core’s proposal, called SegWit, has garnered resistance from miners, the most vocal being Wu Jihan, co-founder of the world’s largest mining organization Antpool. “SegWit is itself a great technology, but the reason it hasn’t taken off is because its interest doesn’t align with miners,” Wu said. Still, after previous counter-proposals championed by Wu fell through, miners last month agreed to compromise and support SegWit, in exchange for increasing the block size. Wu says the plan will alleviate short-to-medium term congestion and give Core enough time to flesh out a long-term solution. That proposal is what is known as SegWit2x, which implements SegWit and doubles the block size limit. “You can think of the SegWit2x proposal as an olive branch,” said Wu. Support for SegWit2x has reached levels unseen for previous solutions. About 85 percent of miners have signaled they are willing to run the software once it’s released on July 21, and some of bitcoin’s largest companies have also jumped on board. The unprecedented level of endorsement is partly prompted by anxiety of bitcoin losing its dominant status to ethereum, a newer cryptocurrency whose popularity has soared thanks to its ability to run smart contracts and its more corporate-friendly approach. Still, hardliners say that after more than two years of bitter arguments, a split would let people part ways to explore different visions, even if prices crash. Some of Core supporters are pushing a separate agenda called UASF (user activated soft fork). Starting from Aug. 1, it will reject transactions not compliant with SegWit. If a majority of miners do not adopt SegWit by then, two versions of bitcoin would come into existence, triggering a currency split. “It’s moderates versus extremists,” said Atlanta-based Stephen Pair, chief executive officer of BitPay, one of the world’s largest bitcoin wallets. “It depends on how much a person values the majority of people staying on one chain at least for a little while longer, versus splitting and allowing each pursuing their own vision for scaling.” Many Core developers continue to reject SegWit2x because they see its development and implementation as being too rushed, which they say could undermine the software underpinning bitcoin. “To suggest a hard fork happen significantly faster than even the most minor of changes in recent history is irresponsible and dangerous,” said Matt Corallo, a Core contributor and former co-founder of Blockstream, which stands to benefit from SegWit. Below is an outline of the main events that could unify or divide bitcoin: By July 21: SegWit2x software is released and supporters begin using it. July 21 to July 31: The community monitors how many miners deploy SegWit2x: If more than 80 percent deploy it consistently, that should signal community-wide adoption of SegWit and the avoidance of a split, at least for now. But if a majority do not deploy, expect anxiety within the community to grow as the focus shifts to the Aug. 1 deadline. Aug. 1: UASF is deployed by its supporters, who begin checking if bitcoin transactions are compliant with SegWit. If a majority of miners still do not deploy SegWit2x or otherwise accept SegWit, and if UASF supporters do not back down, then two versions of bitcoin’s blockchain could come into existence: a UASF-backed one where only SegWit transactions are recognized, and another where all trades -- SegWit and non-SegWit -- are recognized. If a split occurs, bitcoin will likely begin existing on both blockchains in parallel, resulting in two versions of the cryptocurrency. Expect traders to quickly re-price the value of both, likely leading to massive volatility. |

If a majority of miners do not adopt SegWit by then, two versions of bitcoin would come into existence, triggering a currency split.\n\n“It’s moderates versus extremists,” said Atlanta-based Stephen Pair, chief executive officer of BitPay, one of the world’s largest bitcoin wallets. “It depends on how much a person values the majority of people staying on one chain at least for a little while longer, versus splitting and allowing each pursuing their own vision for scaling.”\n\nMany Core developers continue to reject SegWit2x because they see its development and implementation as being too rushed, which they say could undermine the software underpinning bitcoin.\n\n“To suggest a hard fork happen significantly faster than even the most minor of changes in recent history is irresponsible and dangerous,” said Matt Corallo, a Core contributor and former co-founder of Blockstream, which stands to benefit from SegWit.\n\nBelow is an outline of the main events that could unify or divide bitcoin:\n\nBy July 21: SegWit2x software is released and supporters begin using it.\nJuly 21 to July 31: The community monitors how many miners deploy SegWit2x:\nIf more than 80 percent deploy it consistently, that should signal community-wide adoption of SegWit and the avoidance of a split, at least for now.\nBut if a majority do not deploy, expect anxiety within the community to grow as the focus shifts to the Aug. 1 deadline.\nAug. 1: UASF is deployed by its supporters, who begin checking if bitcoin transactions are compliant with SegWit.\nIf a majority of miners still do not deploy SegWit2x or otherwise accept SegWit, and if UASF supporters do not back down, then two versions of bitcoin’s blockchain could come into existence: a UASF-backed one where only SegWit transactions are recognized, and another where all trades -- SegWit and non-SegWit -- are recognized.\nIf a split occurs, bitcoin will likely begin existing on both blockchains in parallel, resulting in two versions of the cryptocurrency. Expect traders to quickly re-price the value of both, likely leading to massive volatility.",

| title | Wall Street Strategist sees a 21-fold surge in Bitcoin by 2022! |
| body | Bitcoin $55,000? Fundstrat’s Tom Lee, one of the biggest equity bears among the major Wall Street strategists, says it’s possible, but not necessarily for the reasons many bitcoin bulls have suggested. “One of the drivers is crypto-currencies are cannibalizing demand for gold GCQ7, ” Lee wrote in a report. “Based on our model, we estimate that bitcoin’s value per unit could be $20,000 to $55,000 by 2022 — hence, investors need to identify strategies to leverage this potential rise in crypto-currencies.” That’s a major jump from the $2,530 level that bitcoin BTCUSD, fetched recently. Of course, this would be on top of what’s already been an impressive stretch, with the price more than doubling since the start of the year. Lee predicts investors will look to bitcoin as a gold substitute, and the fact that the amount of available bitcoin is reaching its limit makes this supply/demand story even more compelling for those looking to turn profits in the crypto market. “Bitcoin supply will grow even slower than gold,” Lee said. “Hence, the scarcity of bitcoin is becoming increasingly attractive relative to gold.” Another driver could come from central banks, which he expects will consider buying bitcoin if the total market cap hits $500 billion. “This is a game changer, enhancing the legitimacy of the currency and likely accelerating the substitution for gold,” Lee wrote. The trick is that there aren’t very many ways to play bitcoin, other than via direct investment or the bitcoin ETF GBTC, he said, adding that “we will identify other opportunities in the future.” |
