Be no greedy, take profit when you have it, and enjoy the play! That is the mindset. As for the actual practice, to be safe, you sell just under the base you're playing. Or, you can read the story of the chart to see how normally this chart would bounce. Does it normally bounce higher than base or just barely touch? How high the bounce normally happen? You play accordingly, the chart tells all\n\n2. It's the \"free coin\" mindset. Because it's FREE coins, we don't street over it.       "body": "What Luc is saying is you don't need to convert the currencies at all when you're trading. Look at one trade-pair at a time. You buy something low, you sell it high relative to where you bought it. You either sell everything you bought or you just sell your capital and keep the free coins.\n\nSometimes ETH/BTC will break a base but ETH/USD won't, so trade ETH/BTC that time. Don't think about the amounts in USD, except to make sure you're within your overall risk tolerance.\n\nSounds like what you need to do is pick a priority: Are you trying to generate cash income, or are you trying to earn free coins to hold long term?\n\nIf you're mostly trying to earn income, then stick to USD trade pairs, and always sell your whole position at the end of the trade. You won't keep any BTC or ETH to do many alt coin trades, so you'll be limited to whatever you can trade against USD. Careful: lots of alt coins that trade against USD do so at very low volumes. That can sometimes be good for volatility, but bad for liquidity: you could get stuck with something you can't sell at the price you want because there aren't enough buyers.\n\nIf you're mostly trying to build a crypto portfolio, then start with USD trade pairs, but leave your profits in as free coin. So if you buy $150 of something, sell $150 of it when you complete the trade and leave the profits as free coins. Eventually you'll build up a stock of BTC and ETH (and DOGE, LTC, BCH, etc) all for free. Then, when you trade those against alt coins, again leave the profits in the alts, and you'll be in them for free too -- if they crash, you didn't \"lose\" anything, but if they go to the moon, you'll be along for the ride free of charge! \n\nIf you keep your coins but still want money to pay the rent, you'll have to wait for bull markets that will allow you to sell little bits here and there without compromising your position.       "body": "Hey Luc, you speak a lot in your videos about bases (supports) and you get very enthusiastic about how easy they are and how trading is super simple, and you go through days and days of graphs and show \"look another base\" and it's like it all follows a perfect perfect code that is always the same. Now, I started trading a  couple weeks ago, and I do see the bases, but here is my problem: the rise in percentage from a base upwards is always minute,  so I make very little from it, and when a resistance gets broken, its unpredictable and does it over many hours without following any pattern. Then, unless it falls just a few percent back down to the \"new base\" it falls drastically down and I am often unprepared for that (like it will happen at 4 a.m.). Also, you speak very rarely of resistance, like, maybe I've seen you speak of it one time, even in your video on bases and resistance, you basically say bases are what matters. However, bases aren't much good if you don't know when to sell. Would you be able to give me a sort of concise explanation of how to actually use the base AND resistance, how many hours of returning to the same point constitute a base, and what actually constitutes resistance? \n\nI took some screenshots if you wanted to see why I feel like my trading shots look so different than yours. I'm doing it for fun, and I am being careful, emotionless, and trying to make a small amount of profit at a time. \n\nBut then I had a conversation with my father that has made me rethink the entire concept of trading them. Bitcoin and altcoins exist because they were intended to function as a new type of currency. However, because they are now being traded like commodities for the mere sake of making a profit, they are extremely volatile. It seems to me that as long as they remain extremely volatile, they will never actually be useful as currency. If that is the case, won't they eventually all crash? Or will people's interest in them as something to trade somehow keep them a float, while changing their purpose altogether. \n\nThis question is really, really, bothering me. Part of me says: shut up, make some money because you need it, and see what happens. The other part of me (and my father) says: stop trading these currencies and instead, spend them on real things, help to give them ACTUAL VALUE, and don't ruin a fantastic idea for the sake of profit.",
