It's been too long.\n\nThe Genesis Network has undergone a significant amount of changes lately. \n* Full rebranding of the site/wallet/graphics/etc.\n* Truly decentralized web wallet\n* Successful masternode testnet\n* & more\n\nWith the Genesis Network masternode release just days away, we figure we should dedicate a post just to that.\n\n## Intro\n\nLet’s be honest for a moment, **90% of masternode coins have been a terrible investment**. The promise of high ROI PIVX forks mirrored with professional graphics and a pretty wallet make the less well-informed person say, “**TAKE MY MONEY**”. However, the reality does not exactly match the perception.\n\nMost masternode coins suffer from a pumping and dumping of price, dumping returns, nodes coming and going faster than you can shake a stick, no real roadmap and “devs” ghosting the communities in a blink of the eye.\n\nIn the latter half of 2018 when the team at Genesis Network decided to implement masternodes there was a split consensus within the community on whether this would be a good thing for the network or not. After the capitulation of most masternode coins throughout 2018, many investors sneer at the thought of putting their money/time/effort into a new masternode coin.\n\nThe Genesis team took this to heart, and we asked ourselves a serious question. \n> How can we change “masternode strife” perception for our cryptocurrency and promote the opportunities that masternodes can create for the network without having masternode owners constantly dumping rewards?\n\n## Genesis Maturity Based Masternodes\n\nWhen masternode go-live initiates, the total masternode reward will be worth **200 GENX per block**. \n\nTypical masternode coins use a round-robin style payment system in which the node owner receives a full reward when it is their “turn”. In this case, this is 200 GENX.\n\n**Genesis maturity based masternodes** use time (number of blocks) to determine your reward in the same round-robin style payment method. Payments start small and increase towards a “mature” node based on time. Thus, your masternode reward would **start at one coin (minimum) and increment until the max reward is met**.\n\nThis, however, leaves a dilemma. If the reward starts small at one coin, what happens to the other 199 GENX? The most obvious answer would be to burn the remainder of the rewards, however, the team at Genesis thought of a better solution. Why not distribute these rewards to our node owners? These “leftover” rewards are thus considered as “secondary” payments.\n\n## How Primary & Secondary Masternode Payments Work?\n\nThe first (or primary) round-robin reward starts at 1 and works its way up to a max of 180 GENX per block. This leaves the secondary reward between 199 max and 20 min.\n\nThe secondary reward then is split between 20 **random** (opposed to round robin) nodes across the network per block.\n\nInitially, your node **will benefit** more from randomized secondary payments rather than its primary payments. Once your node reaches full maturity and there is higher contention for primary rewards - secondary rewards (**especially from newer masternodes**) will also add a welcome boost to your masternodes income.\n\n## Maturity Calculation\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRutdWMNuedcBoxr7seTXtRSuKKMrT8mQGayfPRTUDVjN/image.png)\n\n## Sooooo… My only concern is ROI.       "body": "<center>![steemitheader.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTVwaGs7UE4hsd5hb6ByjDAGTHR6bc9HU5BXK5MCUBbhK/steemitheader.png)</center>\n\n<center>Welcome everyone to the November Genesis Network Report</center>\n\nSince we haven't done this for the first few months of our inception, we'll cover since our initial block post (~2 mo back). \n\n## Community Recap\nThe Genesis Network community has been growing substantially over the last few months. \n* Discord has grown to over 1000 members\n* Twitter has grown to almost 900 followers (over 300 in November alone)\n* LinkedIn company page and Telegram chat are now live.\n\n## Markets\nThough the markets are in shambles, $GENX has slowly been growing in marketcap and volume. During November, the price of $GENX grew from 8-10 satoshis to approximately 20-25 satoshis.  There was a substantial influx of volume on TradeSatoshi early in November raising the price up to 75 satoshi, but has since then stabilized.\n\n<center>![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZYj8y7CLCJRxBh4FvujMmjN3v3Y8WJR4qHs2vSps2t6d/image.png)</center>\n\nGrowth in this market right now is tough due to the steady loss of interest from people just in blockchain for financial gain, so the fact $GENX is holding on is great.\n\n* $GENX has been listed on a community favorite STEX\n* Community voting allowed us to be one of three coins that get to join CryptalDash exchange for week 23. We're currently in discussion with the CryptalDash partners about integration.\n\n## Network\nThe state of the network is strong!\n\n$GENX difficulty and hashrate saw a significant boost in November when the initial influx of volume happened. Since then has stabilized and has been hanging around the 30-40 ksol/s range and around 4k difficulty. \n\nThis is great for the network and has also shown us how great the Zawy 12s LWMA difficulty adjusting algorithm is. On a target of 60 second blocktimes, we've maintained an average of 60 seconds even through the spikes in hashrate.\n\n<center>![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmR4wWPAXMzJkKYFPgG3XAxjaPqter6Ka6cC7HkNyV4uwh/image.png)</center>\n\n$GENX nodes are also growing, with the largest concentration in the United States, Serbia and the Russian Federation\n\n<center>![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTqRB1urEnVe3a5ypd4uDon12ZnC9zkjw7htxen6JZArc/image.png)</center>\n\n## Development\n### Masternodes\nMasternodes are currently in testnet and being worked on by our primary developer Loki (hashtobewild). ETA of launch is still unknown at this time due to wanting to implement a few more features prior to launch and more testing.\n### Proof-of-Stake\nIn full disclosure, current proof-of-stake (PoS) code being utilized by the vast majority of blockchains is substandard at best. There are vulnerabilities that we have found in this code and will be doing more R&D into a better solution. The team is currently addressing **Avalanche** as a potential consensus protocol. More on this to come in the next few months.\n### Ecosystem\nAs the blocks grow, our knowledge base grows as well. The team has began doing a significant amount of R&D into payment processing systems on and off the blockchain. Unfortunately, with most payment processors and cryptocurrencies claiming decentralization, we've found they're utilizing centralized nodes to process transactions. Fortunately, we have been working on solutions to implement our systems with raw transactions and masternodes. In turn creating true, decentralized and (most importantly) secure  platforms for our ecosystem.
